Parivartana Across Mahadasha Levels, Narayana Dasha Sign Analysis (3-Part Rule) & Stronger Rashi Lord Rule

Parivartana (exchange) is applicable at the Mahadasha level — not only antardasha. Activation: exchange does not trigger at the start of the Mahadasha; activates at minimum when the ANTARDASHA of the exchanging planet arrives (e.g., Mercury MD with Mercury-Mars parivartana → activates in Mars AD). Can trigger earlier if a connecting planet (aspecting both, or dispositor) activates through a sub-period. Once triggered, remains activated — the dasha planet gives the other planet's results. Friendship matters: good friends exchange naturally; enemies (Moon-Rahu, Jupiter-Rahu) may never truly exchange. "It is like two people living together — friends start thinking like each other; enemies never really exchange." Narayana Dasha 3-part rule for sign: (1) The sign itself — house meaning from Lagna/Moon/Jupiter/AL/Hora Lagna reference, plus sign nature (fire/earth/air/water, sattva/rajas/tamas) which accentuates positive or negative house traits, plus sign aspects received (Rashi drishti), plus argala on the sign; (2) Graha drishti aspects on the sign from planets; (3) Planets occupying the sign (full results). Sign nature accentuates: Cancer = creative/positive (positive house aspects magnified); Scorpio = negative (evil traits magnified) — does NOT change house meaning, only accentuates. Stronger Rashi lord rule: when a sign has two possible lords (e.g., Scorpio = Mars and Ketu), take the one with MORE planets conjoined as the lord — count of planets, not friendship/dignity determines this (both Parashara and Jaimini agree).

"Parivartana across Mahadasha levels is like two people living in the same house. After enough time together, they start thinking like each other. But if they are uncomfortable with each other — like Moon and Rahu — they may never exchange."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Q&A: Parivartana Exchange Across Dasha Levels

Question: Does parivartana (exchange of results) happen at the Mahadasha level, not just antardasha?

Answer: Yes. Parivartana is applicable at Mahadasha level.

How it works:

  • Exchange may not activate immediately at the start of the Mahadasha
  • Activates at minimum when the antardasha of the exchanging planet comes
  • Example: Mercury Dasha with Mercury-Mars parivartana → definitely triggered when Mars antardasha arrives within Mercury dasha
  • Can trigger earlier: if another planet connected to the exchange (aspecting, or dispositor) activates first
    • Example: If Rahu aspects both → Mars-Rahu-Mercury antardasha may trigger it
    • Or: Mars-Mars-Mercury at pratyantara level may trigger it

Once triggered: Remains activated — the dasha planet starts giving the exchanging planet's results

Friendship matters:

  • Good friends (e.g., Sun-Mars): exchange activates earlier, more naturally
  • Enemies/uncomfortable (e.g., Moon-Rahu, Jupiter-Rahu): exchange may never happen or happens much later
  • "If Moon and Rahu are together, Moon gives Moon result, Rahu gives Rahu result. Very unlikely they exchange."

"It is like two people living in the same house. After enough time together, they start thinking like each other. But if they are uncomfortable with each other, they may never exchange. Depends on the relationship."

Q&A: Narayana Dasha — 3-Part Rule for Sign

The three components of what a sign gives in its Narayana Dasha period:

  1. 1st part — The sign itself: What the sign produces based on:

    • Which house it is from Lagna, Moon, Jupiter, AL, Hora Lagna
    • Nature of the sign (sattva/rajas/tamas, fire/earth/air/water, productive/dry, positive/negative signs like Pisces vs Scorpio)
    • Sign aspects ON that sign (which signs aspect it by Rashi Drishti) → partial results of those signs also emerge
    • Argala on that sign (sign 4th from it has Argala on it → partial results of that argala)
  2. 2nd part — Aspects (graha drishti) of planets on that sign; their results manifested

  3. 3rd part — Planets occupying that sign; their full results

On sign nature's role:

  • The sign's nature (fire, malefic, sattvic, etc.) ACCENTUATES the results
  • Cancer: creative, positive → positive aspects of whatever house it is get magnified
  • Scorpio: evil sign → negative aspects of the house get magnified
  • "It doesn't change the house meaning; it accentuates the positive or negative traits"

Key reference points for sign's house interpretation:

  • From Lagna, Moon, Jupiter (for wisdom), Hora Lagna, and especially Arudha Lagna
  • "This is the most important thing — which house from these references"

Q&A: Stronger Rashi Lord When Two Lords Exist

Rule: When a sign has two possible lords (e.g., Scorpio with Mars and Ketu), take the one with more planets as the lord.

  • Example: Mars with Rahu in Scorpio (2 planets), Ketu alone → Mars is the lord
  • Count the planets, don't consider friendship/enmity of those planets
  • "Parashara and Jaimini both teach this: the lord is determined by count, not by relationships"
