Spirituality in D20, 4H from AK, Gem Remedies & Drig Dasha Introduction
Spirituality indicators: which planets and which charts to examine. D20 (Vimsamsa) for spiritual attainment level. 4H from Atmakaraka (AK) shows the spiritual path/marga: which philosophical/spiritual direction the soul leans toward. Saturn in 4H from AK = path of austerity; Jupiter = path of knowledge; Venus = path of devotion; Ketu = path of complete dissolution. Gem remedy guidelines: how to prescribe gems based on the planet's role in the chart — never prescribe a gem for a planet that harms you. Brief introduction to Drig Dasha and how it is calculated.
"The 4th house from Atmakaraka in Navamsa shows the spiritual path — the marga. Saturn there = tapas; Jupiter = jnana; Venus = bhakti; Ketu = moksha path."

Spirituality — Which Planets and Which Charts (Q6)
No Single Planet Indicates Spirituality
Every planet can make someone spiritual, but in their own characteristic way:
| Planet | Type of Spiritual Person Given |
|---|---|
| Jupiter | Wise, knowledgeable, guru; student of Vedas, Upanishads; Jnani |
| Sun | Atma-Jnani — so strong a soul that even others can perceive it; like Sri Aurobindo |
| Saturn | Yogi, sanyasi, ascetic — no desires, happy to work hard, selfless service |
| Moon | Compassionate, bhakti-filled, loving, universal compassion |
| Mars | Forceful sadhaka — aggressive spiritual practice; worships fierce deities (Kali, Narasimha, Hanuman); can do 30-day fasts; like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa (who also had exalted Mars in 12th) |
| Ketu | Advanced yogi — close to Moksha; may have siddhis; appears weird; wandering sadhu |
| Rahu | Occult practitioner, siddha; at advanced stages toward moksha; uses kriyas |
| Venus | Bhakti Marga — pure devotion, surrender |
| Mercury | Bhakti Marga — with knowledge component |
Moon-Saturn Combination: Range of Results
Moon and Saturn together show a spectrum depending on other influences:
- Simple person with few desires, easily satisfied
- Vairagya (detachment, renunciation)
- Tendency toward depression and sadness
- In extreme cases (close conjunction, D-30 also afflicted, Rahu/Mars also aspecting) → suicidal tendencies
Important guidance: When consulting a person with strong Moon-Saturn conjunction and likely depression tendencies, always be optimistic and cheerful with them — do NOT add to their negative thinking.
Key modifiers:
- If Saturn is a Yogakaraka (e.g., Taurus lagna with Saturn as 9L+10L) → the same combination shows selfless service, seva bhava, not depression
- If Jupiter aspects the Moon-Saturn → wisdom saves from the worst outcomes
- Leo lagna with Moon and Saturn in Libra (3rd house) → some proneness to depression if within 5° orb; less bad at wider orb
— PVNR"Vairagya is a form of depression. There is a link between being sad and then renunciation. The same Moon-Saturn combination gives different results depending on other influences."
D-20 Chart — Spiritual Path and Marga (Q6 continued)
Primary Chart for Spirituality
- D-20 (Vimsamsa) is the chart of upasana (worship, spiritual practice)
- Parasara: "Upasana yah jnanam sadhyam vimshamshagate" — the knowledge of one's path of upasana is found in D-20
Key Houses in D-20
| House | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 4th house | Direction/Marga — the overall spiritual direction the person takes |
| 9th house | Dharma — the specific religious/spiritual duty followed |
| 5th house | Mantra, devotion, spiritual practices actually done |
4th House from Atmakaraka in D-20 — Spiritual Marga
PVNR's experimental finding (based on ~25 charts):
- Take the Atmakaraka in D-20
- See what planet is in the 4th house from AK in D-20
- That planet shows the spiritual direction the soul truly desires
| Planet in 4H from AK (D-20) | Spiritual Marga |
|---|---|
| Jupiter | Vedic Marga — Jnana Yoga; Vedas, Upanishads, traditional knowledge, conservative approach |
| Sun | Similar to Jupiter — Vedic Dhyana Marga |
| Moon or Mercury | Bhakti Marga — compassion, surrender, devotion to God |
| Venus | Bhakti Marga — surrender, devotion |
| Saturn | Kriya Yoga / Patanjali's Yoga Shastra — wants Kundalini to rise; becomes a siddha and yogi |
— PVNR"4th house is the house of mother. How the Divine Mother has to guide this particular soul — that is seen from the 4th house from Atmakaraka."
Important Caution
- "The 4th from AK in D-20 shows the path the soul wants — not necessarily the path the person is actually following"
- A person's mind may be stronger than their soul and may impose a different path
- The soul's desired path may only manifest after many years, or after experimenting with other paths
- For great spiritual leaders (Aurobindo, Sivananda, etc.) the soul IS in control — so this house is directly readable
- For ordinary people, the soul's direction may not be active yet
Dasha for Spiritual Progress in D-20
- Use Narayana Dasha of D-20 to track spiritual progression
- Also: which D-20 Narayana Dasha has Ketu in it → that period is especially auspicious for spiritual progress
Drig Dasa — Brief Introduction
What It Is
- A Rasi Dasha (found in the Rasi Dashas tab in JHora, after Sudasha)
- Purpose: Shows the spiritual progress of the person specifically
- Different from Narayana Dasha, Sudasha, Vimshottari — this one is about the "light of God watching you"
— PVNR"This dasha shows the light of God that is guiding your spiritual pursuit — which period you are being watched over, guided in your spiritual life."
Computation Rule (Brief)
- The dasha starts from the 9th house
- Then goes to signs aspected by the 9th house
- Then 10th house and signs aspected by it, then 11th house, etc.
- Whether to proceed forward or backward depends on auspicious/even-odd rules (full details deferred to a future lesson)
Key Prediction Rule
— PVNR"Whenever your current Drig Dasa sign contains Ketu or is aspected by Ketu — that period brings great spiritual progress and advancement."
PVNR planned to do a full lesson on Drig Dasa computation and interpretation in a future class.
