Ishta Devata — 12th from AK in Navamsa

12th from AK in Navamsa = Ishta Devata

(Introduced in Lesson 15. This class adds the comparison of two charts.)

• 12th from the AK in Navamsa = the atma giving up its identity; the house of moksha. Pray to the deities of the planets placed there.
• Ketu in the 12th from the AK keeps telling the atma to give up its identity. It does not give moksha. It makes the person highly qualified for it and takes him on that path.
• Next see the planets with Ketu. If there are none, take the lord of that sign: he is in charge of making the soul give up its identity. The house he occupies from the Navamsa lagna shows the activity through which he does it.

• AK = Moon, in Gemini in Navamsa
• Ketu alone in Taurus, the 12th from the AK
• Lord of Taurus = Venus, in Cancer: the 2nd from the AK and the 12th from lagna
• The planet in charge of the soul's moksha sits in the house of moksha from lagna too. He makes the native's dharmic existence follow the same path → a tapasvi

• AK = Venus, in Pisces
• Ketu alone in Aquarius, the 12th from the AK → on this count he is a highly spiritual and unattached person, whatever his public image
• Lords of Aquarius = Saturn and Rahu, both in Leo, the 10th from lagna
• Their agenda is moksha, but they are caught in karma

"The planets who want to give him moksha, they think he has a certain duty because they are in the 10th from lagna."

• He acts on strong beliefs and does it with detachment, since the planets making him act own the 12th from the atma
• He is not a tapasvi on the final march like Ramana Maharshi

"He is on the path towards moksha. He is spiritual. He is detached. But at the same time he has that attachment to the karma."

What kind of karma? See the planets in that 10H:

• Moon + Jupiter together = Gajakesari Yoga → fame for the karma done on his ideology, lasting long after death. They are in a friend's sign and will give it
• Mars, Saturn and Rahu = three malefics in a fiery sign. Mars is the planet of war → the action is aggressive and disruptive
• A student pointed out that Saturn is in an enemy's sign. That makes a malefic more harmful, not powerless

10H of Navamsa vs. 9H of Dasamsa

• 10H in Navamsa = the karma you do for your dharma; how you follow your ideology in society. (The 9H of Navamsa is the ideology itself.)
• 9H in Dasamsa = the sense of dharma you keep while doing your karma.

What an Astrologer Can Do

A student asked about remedies when souls oppose you. Remedies exist, also for the other karakas, and are left for a later class. It is very difficult to remedy a soul that is opposed to you.

"We are not creators. We can't change the destinies, but we can quicken certain things. And we can also make a person recognize certain things as unchangeable and try to live with it rather than be unhappy always."

No soul is good or bad. Each acts by its destiny, and the souls opposing it act by theirs.
