Four Purusharthas — Trikona Framework

The 12 houses map onto 4 Purusharthas in 4 trikonas:

PurusharthaHousesMeaning
Dharma1, 5, 9Right action, duty, fortune
Artha2, 6, 10Resources, struggle, karma
Kama3, 7, 11Desire, pursuit, fulfillment
Moksha4, 8, 12Comfort, tapasya, detachment

Kama Trikona (3-7-11) as three-step process:

  1. 3rd house = initiative, boldness, "I want to do this" — start of desire
  2. 7th house = pursuing and nurturing the desire, following through
  3. 11th house = fulfillment of desire, gains — what you wanted comes to you

Moksha Trikona (4-8-12) as self-reinforcing triad:

  • 4th house = comfort, happiness → necessary for tapasya (you need happiness to work hard)
  • 8th house = tapasya, sadhana, hard work — the actual spiritual effort
  • 12th house = detachment, letting go, moksha — the result of completed tapasya
  • "Without 4th house happiness, you can't sustain 8th house effort. Without 12th house detachment, tapasya doesn't lead to moksha. They bless each other."

Blessings from trines:

  • Trines from any house = what naturally promotes and blesses that house
  • Trines from 10th house (karma) = 2nd (resources) + 6th (effort/struggle) = blessings for your karma
  • Trines from 11th house (gains) = 3rd (initiative) + 7th (pursuit) = blessings for fulfillment

Divisional Charts for Suffering and Death

For death and destruction specifically:

  • D11 (Rudramsha) = death and killing (Rudra is the protector whose withdrawal = death)
    • 11th house = Harasthana ("hara" = Shiva as destroyer); also 6th from 6th = surrender/give up
    • Multiple marakas in D11's 11th house = year of destruction
  • D30 (Trimshamsa) = subconscious suffering, unease, inner restlessness of the country
    • Lagna in D30 = self from subconscious suffering viewpoint
  • D6 = illness; international strife, litigation, war

  • Cancer 11th house = watery sign → water-related mass deaths

  1. Arrange planets in order from most benefic to most malefic
  2. First planet (most benefic) exchanges results with last (most malefic)
  3. Second exchanges with second-from-last, etc.
  4. Venus (most benefic) + Ketu (most malefic) → Venus gives Ketu's results during Venus Dasha

Eclipse Charts for Prediction

Key Rules for Eclipse Charts

  1. Any eclipse can bring events within 3 months (not just natural disasters)
  2. Start of eclipse is more important than the peak
  3. Eclipse charts show only what kind of events are possible — no dasha associated
  4. Eclipse at the capital of a country → effects for that country specifically
  5. Solar eclipse: Sun afflicted by Rahu/Ketu
    • "Sun doesn't care much. But Jupiter (agent between Sun and Moon) is very unhappy."
    • Both Sun and Rahu/Ketu suffer: Sun's fire burns Ketu; Ketu doesn't mind, gets "sadistic pleasure"
  6. Lunar eclipse: Moon afflicted → minds of people suffer
    • Moon is most vulnerable because Sun (soul) doesn't care; it's the mind that is eclipsed by deception

When Ruling Party vs. Opposition

For elections close to eclipses:

  • 10th house = ruling party / executive branch (President)
  • 3rd house = opposition party (6th from 10th = enemy of the king)
  • If 10th house/lord is afflicted in eclipse chart → ruling party suffers
  • If 3rd house/lord is afflicted → opposition suffers

Example 1: Pakistan Earthquake (Oct 2005)

Eclipse: Solar eclipse on Oct 3, 2005, 4:10 PM Islamabad Lagna: Aquarius

  • 8th house dominates: Moon (maraka karaka sthana for Aquarius = 6th from 3rd?) — actually Moon in 8H for Aquarius
  • 7th lord Sun + 8th lord Mercury in 8th house: 7L+8L together in 8H = death combination
  • Ketu in 8th = sudden, explosive, unexpected events
  • Sign in 8th = Virgo (bhumi tatva = earth element) → earthquake/landslide possible
  • "Aries and trines = Agni (fire). Taurus and trines = Bhumi (earth). Virgo = bhumi rasi → earthquake."

Example 2: India Flash Floods (Oct 2005)

Eclipse: Lunar eclipse start, Oct 17, 2005, 5:03:21 PM IST, Delhi Lagna: Pisces

  • Moon in deep Gandanta: 29°53' Pisces — just 7 minutes of arc from Aries (Jala→Agni border)
    • Gandanta = last 3°20' of water sign + first 3°20' of fire sign (Pisces-Aries, Cancer-Leo, Scorpio-Sagittarius)
    • Deep Gandanta = within last degree (trimsamsa level danger)
    • Planet at Gandanta = extremely agitated, "like someone who throws the computer at you when you ask them something"
  • Rahu on Lagna (3.5° difference): Rahu almost sitting on the Ascendant
  • Lagna lord Jupiter in 8th with 6th lord Sun and 7th lord Mercury (maraka) = troubled lagna lord
  • Rahu on Lagna + Ketu in 7th + Jupiter in 8H + Moon in Gandanta → suffering for the country

Example 3: India Elections 2004

Eclipse: Partial lunar eclipse, May 5, 2004, 12:18 AM

  • 10th house: Moon afflicted by Ketu + Gulika (Mandi) + Budha
  • Moon in 10th = ruling party's mind; being eclipsed + afflicted = ruling party suffers
  • 3rd house/lord: Relatively untouched
  • Result: 10H badly afflicted → ruling party (Vajpayee/BJP) lost elections ✓

Example 4: Washington DC Elections 2004

Eclipse: Partial lunar eclipse, Oct 27, 2004, 8:14 PM EST, Washington DC

  • 10th house = Pisces: Not afflicted; Jupiter (10L) in a kendra with Venus = Raj Yoga
  • 3rd house: Empty; 3rd lord Sun is debilitated + Ketu (3° apart) = 3rd lord totally beaten down
  • Rahu/Ketu eclipse axis: Sun (opposition's representative) debilitated+Ketu = opposition routed
  • Result: Bush won, Democrats (opposition) lost heavily ✓
  • PVNR: "This eclipse chart was a strong reason for predicting Bush would win, despite others predicting Kerry."

Bush 2004 (July 6 2004 – July 6 2005)

    • Image = warrior, aggressive; "people will increasingly see him as just aggressive"
    • AL in 9th = no major fall in status (if AL in 8th = fall; 9th = stable though not great)

    • Venus (6L from A5) Dasha = bad for following
    • Moon (8L from A5) Dasha = terrible for following
    • Venus Dasha = Aug–Sep; Moon Dasha = Oct 20–Dec 8 → popularity nadir during those months
  • Mars Dasha: From December, Mars in 9th from A5 → tough talk + tough actions → popularity recovery
  • Hora Lord = Mercury (ruler of the year)
  • Current Dasha (at time of class): Moon — benefic Moon (Shukla paksha) but terrible for popularity

PVNR: "I believe this year's popularity issues for Bush are mainly limited to these 2 bad months; it is not a year-long trend downward."
