BPHS Ch.22 — 11th House Begins: Great Gains (Verse 1), Gains Accumulated (Verse 2), Go-Getter Fortune by 36th Year (Verse 3) & Suryamsa = Leo (Not Combustion)

BPHS Ch.22 (Labha Bhava) opening: "By the auspiciousness of this house, the native will always be happy and comfortable." v1: 11L in 11H/kendra/trikona/exaltation or in "Suryamsa" = great gains. Suryamsa debate: Santhanam = combust (despite combustion, gives gains); PVNR disagrees strongly: "ga" = placement in a house, not combustion; Parashara used different word for combustion elsewhere. PVNR interpretation: Suryamsa = Leo in relevant amsa chart; for 11H (comfort) = likely D16 Shodasamsa (chart for comforts/pleasures); Leo in D16 = royal comforts sign. v2: 11L in 2H + 2L in kendra + Jupiter aspecting = gains accumulated (A11 in 2H = gains go into savings, not dissipated; 2L strong + Jupiter = wealth house fully blessed). v3: 11L in 3H + benefics = enormous wealth by 36th year. 11L in 3H = 3H is Kama Trikona (3-7-11) — gains-initiative synergy; go-getter personality; enormous initiative for earning. 36th year = Mercury's natural year (Mercury=livelihood/business). Caution: "This combination is easy to find. Apply with a pinch of salt in isolation; check lagna, 10th lord, 9th lord for confirmation." Nishka (gold coin) unit — 2000 Nishkas = ~$2 million equivalent today; principle is "great fortune."

"The word "ga" means placed in — used for placement in a house. Parashara used a different word elsewhere for combustion. Suryamsa means Leo — the Sun's sign — placed in the relevant amsa chart. It does NOT mean combustion."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

BPHS Chapter 22 — Labha Bhava Phaladhyayam (11th House)

Introductory Verse

The 11th house governs the comfort and happiness of the native. Parashara says: "By the auspiciousness of this house, the native will always be happy and comfortable in the world."

Verse 1: Great Gains — 11th Lord Well Placed

Combination: 11th lord in 11th house OR Kendra OR Trikona + OR in exaltation + OR in Suryamsa (Leo in a specific divisional chart)

Result: Great gains; person does extremely well financially and in comfort.

The "Suryamsa" debate:

  • Santhanam interpreted "suryamsa ga" (gone into Sun's division) as combust — meaning despite combustion, gives gains
  • PVNR disagrees strongly: "The word 'ga' means 'gone into / placed in' — used for placement in a house. If afflicted by Sun's rays, you wouldn't use 'ga.' Parashara used a different word for combustion elsewhere."
  • PVNR's interpretation: "Suryamsa" = Leo in a specific amsa chart. The relevant chart for comfort (11th house governs comfort) = likely Shodasamsa (D16) which specifically shows pleasures, comforts, and vehicles. Leo in D16 = natural sign of royalty and comfort.

Practical rule: 11th lord in Kendra/Trikona or exaltation is the clearest indicator of great gains.

Verse 2: Gains Accumulated — 11th Lord in 2nd + 2nd Lord in Kendra + Jupiter

Combination: 11th lord in 2nd house + 2nd lord in Kendra + 2nd lord with or aspected by Jupiter

Result: Great gains that are accumulated (not dissipated).

Why:

  • 11th lord in 2nd: A11 = 2nd house (11th lord in 2nd → count 11 from 2nd = 12th → reflection: 2 + (2-11 mod 12) = 2 + 3 = 5... PVNR says A11 is in 2nd house in this case, as per the transcript: "11th lord is in 2nd house, A11 is in 2nd house")
  • A11 in 2nd = tangible gains go into the house of accumulation → "gains are not dissipated; they pile up in the bank"
  • 2nd lord in Kendra + Jupiter = wealth house lord is strong and blessed

Verse 3: Great Wealth at 36th Year — 11th Lord in 3rd + Benefics

Combination: 11th lord in 3rd house + conjoined with functional/natural benefics

Result: Enormous wealth (2000 Nishkas = ~$2 million in gold coin equivalent) by the 36th year.

Why:

  • 11th lord in 3rd = Kama Trikona connection (3-7-11 are Kama houses); "The person has great initiative to get gains — a go-getter; initiative to earn"
  • 11th lord's agenda is gains; in 3rd (Parakrama) = gains through effort and initiative
  • 36th year = Mercury's natural year; also suggests early success in life

PVNR caution: "This combination is easy to find. Apply it with a pinch of salt in isolation. Becoming very successful requires checking lagna, 10th lord, 9th lord. Don't rely on one combination."

The "2000 Nishkas" note: Don't be misled by the count; the unit matters. 2000 gold coins in today's terms ≈ $2 million. The principle is: "a great fortune."
