Sudarshana Chakra Dasha of D-9 — A Marriage, the Wife's Chart

The Dasha of the Year

• Marriage is read from the Sudarshana Chakra Dasha of the Navamsa.
• Year running: March 19, 2003 to March 18, 2004.
• Lagna Chakra: Leo. Chandra Chakra: Aries. Surya Chakra: Gemini.

Which Chakra for Marriage?

Students split between Surya and Lagna.

• Surya is not "other people". Surya is everybody, and above all God — the Viśvātmā, the collective soul of the universe.
• Surya Lagna: the opportunities the universe presents to you.
• Chandra Lagna: how you feel about those opportunities. A great opportunity may feel like a bad one.
• Lagna: how you grab them, what you do.
• Arranged or self-arranged makes no difference. Lagna matters because the person walked into the marriage — "or in some cases ran into it, or limped into it". Surya matters because it was an opportunity given by the universe to fulfil dharma.
• Chandra tells whether the person was happy with it. For that question it may count more than the other two.

Lagna Chakra — Leo

• In Leo: the lagna lord Sun, the 4th and 9th lord Mars, the 10th lord Venus.
• Marriage is an act of dharma. The 9th is dharma, the 10th is activity in society tied to dharma, the 4th is sukha. All these lords are together in lagna with the lagna lord and with Venus, kāraka of marriage.
• So many yogas in lagna: an important event in the karmic life is possible. The 9th house can also show marriage.
• The 7th lord Saturn (the stronger lord of Aquarius) is in the 2nd, Virgo, the house of family: a new relationship and growth of the family.
• Saturn is with Ketu. Ketu shows marriage for lineage — vaṁśa-vṛddhi — the birth of children and the growth of the family.
• PVNR's caveat: on this alone he would not have predicted marriage. It supports marriage reasonably. A stronger case is the lagna lord and 7th lord together in lagna or in the 7th.

Chandra Chakra — Aries

• The 4th lord Moon is exalted in the 2nd, Taurus: sukha, in the house of family. She is very happy and excited through the year.
• In Leo, the 5th from Aries, there is a yoga of the lagna lord Mars, the 5th lord Sun (emotions) and the 7th lord Venus (relationships).
• The marriage was not forced on her. Had it been, the Chandra Lagna would show something negative.
• If you see such a negative indication in someone's chart, keep it to yourself.

Surya Chakra — Gemini: Vipareeta Raja Yoga

• Leo is again the house that holds the yogas. From Gemini it is the 3rd.
• The 3rd lord Sun, the 6th lord Mars and the 12th lord Venus are together in the 3rd. Three lords of bad houses, in a bad house.
• In a quadrant or a trine this would not be a Vipareeta Raja Yoga. In the 3rd, 6th, 8th or 12th it is.
• From Lagna and Chandra the yoga in Leo is an ordinary Raja Yoga. From Surya it is a Vipareeta Raja Yoga.
• Viparīta: vi is reverse, opposite; parīta is gone. Having gone from one extreme to the other. A reversal.
• It can come as a lot of trouble that then works out. It can come as not thinking of marriage at all, then a match arrives and one says yes.
• A student asks whether the 8th house must be involved for suddenness. PVNR: good if it is, but not required. The 8th is not the only thing that shows suddenness. Mars is the kāraka of suddenness, and he is in the yoga.
• From the Surya Lagna: an opportunity of a new dharmic life comes up suddenly.

Venus in Ashtakavarga

• The student's own count found Venus the strongest planet in Ashtakavarga.
• Venus is in lagna from the Lagna Chakra, the 7th lord from the Chandra Chakra, and the kāraka of marriage.
• When the kāraka, or another key planet such as the 7th lord, is strong in Ashtakavarga, that is very auspicious for the event.

The Student's Scores

• The scores are from the Ashtakavarga of the natal Navamsa, read for the year March 19, 2003 – March 18, 2004.
• Sarvashtakavarga of the three dasha signs: Leo (Lagna Chakra) 32, Aries (Chandra Chakra) 30, Gemini (Surya Chakra) 23. The student rated all three good. By the yardstick of Part 5, 32 and 30 are good and 23 is under average.
• Planets' own scores: Sun 6, Moon 2, Mars 3, Mercury 5, Jupiter 4, Venus 7, Saturn 4. Moon is the one weak planet; Mars is middling; the rest are good.
• Marriage is a new beginning. The Lagna Chakra sign Leo with 32 shows a year that promises new beginnings.
• Venus, the natural kāraka of marriage, has the highest score, 7. His agenda is fulfilled in the year.

The Wedding Had Been Put Off Once

• The student says the wedding was fixed for an earlier date in the same year and did not take place then.
• PVNR: the Vipareeta Raja Yoga can show that too — expected, did not happen, some problems, then suddenly it happened. From the side of the opportunities given, something was not straightforward.

The Same Marriage — the Husband's Chart

The Dasha of the Year

• Sudarshana Chakra Dasha of the Navamsa. Year running: May 22, 2003 to May 21, 2004.
• Lagna Chakra: Aquarius. Chandra Chakra: Gemini. Surya Chakra: Cancer.

Ashtakavarga

• The native's own count of good and bad planets came out mostly bad. PVNR: that count is uncertain and not reliable. Leave it.
• Planets in the entry chart and their own scores: Sun in Aquarius 4; Moon, Mars and Venus in Cancer 5, 4 and 3; Mercury in Virgo 4; Saturn in Scorpio 3; Jupiter in Sagittarius 5, in own house.
• Jupiter and Moon dominate. No planet is very weak.
• The native had found Cancer, the Surya Chakra sign, the strongest sign.

The Native's Own Count

• He took the marriage as something the world did to him, and so counted the planets of the entry chart from the Surya Chakra sign, Cancer.
• Counted strictly, 1 planet is good and 8 are bad — a bad year. Only Venus in the 1st is good.
• With allowances it becomes 5 good and 4 bad: Moon in his own sign Cancer, Mercury exalted in Virgo, Jupiter in his mūlatrikoṇa, Rahu taken as in own sign.
• Sarvashtakavarga of the natal Navamsa for the three dasha signs: Aquarius 25, Gemini 27, Cancer 37. Cancer has the highest score of all twelve signs.
• Moon, Mercury and Jupiter stand out in the entry chart, with 5, 4 and 5 points.

Lagna Chakra — Aquarius

• The 7th lord Sun and the lagna lord Rahu are together in lagna. This is the strong combination PVNR had named a few minutes earlier for the wife's chart: lagna lord and 7th lord together in lagna or in the 7th.
• His own actions take him into dharmic life in the year. He can decide to marry and marry.
• But the 7th lord is in an inimical sign, Aquarius, and with Rahu. Several results are possible, some of them negative.
• The positive one: 7th lord in lagna brings the spouse to the person. In an inimical sign with Rahu, the wife has to travel abroad.
• Take the 7th, Leo, as the wife's lagna. Her lagna lord Sun goes to her 7th with Rahu. Rahu shows foreign countries, the 7th shows foreign travel. She sets out on a long journey to a foreign land as a result of the marriage.
• That is what happened. After the wedding the wife had to move to a far country.
• Ketu is in the 7th, Leo. Ketu is the secondary kāraka of marriage — when marriage is not for sensual pleasure, which Venus gives, but for growing the family and having children.
• Together: he marries in the year, for the growth of the family, for dharmic reasons.

Chandra Chakra — Gemini

• The lagna lord Mercury is exalted in the 4th, Virgo, the house of sukha: happy, excited, and relaxed at last.
• In both charts the 4th lord is exalted from the Chandra Lagna. Both were excited.
• Jupiter is in the 7th, Sagittarius, his mūlatrikoṇa and own house. The 7th is very strong.
• These two planets alone are enough to show happiness, comfort and marriage in the year.

Surya Chakra — Cancer

• The lagna lord Moon, the 4th lord Venus and the 5th lord Mars are together in lagna. A Raja Yoga in lagna.
• The 4th and 5th lords together show the blessings of Vishnu. In this year the blessing comes in dharmic life.
• The husband's chart shows the marriage more clearly than the wife's. From Surya, Chandra and Lagna together one can be reasonably confident of marriage in the year.

A Note on Nimitta

• A nimitta — an omen at the moment of judgment — is useful when making a prediction. It is useless when analysing what is already known.
• PVNR's example: a visitor was moving back to India. The chart suggested he would return to America some years later. PVNR was unsure whether to say it. At that moment the phone rang. He said it, and the man confirmed it was one of their plans.

Why October Failed and February Gave the Marriage

The wedding was first fixed for October 19, 2003. It did not take place then. The Sudarshana Chakra Dasha has only the antardasha below the year, so the months are examined.

The Obstacle Was Already in the Year

A student asks whether the obstacle could have been seen in advance. PVNR goes back to the annual chart from the Lagna Chakra, Aquarius.

• Sun with Rahu in lagna is a Raja Yoga, but an uncomfortable one. Rahu's affliction of the 7th lord Sun can delay the marriage. Rahu also shows immigration concerns.
• The 6th house, Cancer, is strong: Mars, Venus and Moon are in it. A strong 6th shows obstacles to be overcome, the marriage put off, and separation if already married.
• Any delay of marriage in a year must have a link with the 6th house.
• Venus, the kāraka, is in the 6th — his maraṇa kāraka sthāna.
• From the Lagna Chakra alone one could not predict marriage with confidence. The Surya Chakra, and above all the Chandra Chakra, indicate it strongly. Weigh all three; on balance it is good, with negative factors present.

What Happened, and Why the Lagna Chakra

• The native explains: his visa had expired, he feared he would not be able to re-enter if he travelled, he could take only a short leave, and he chose to play it safe.
• PVNR: outside circumstances set it up, but it was his own judgment and his own decision that delayed the wedding. So give importance to the Lagna Chakra.

The Planets in the 6th

• They own the 3rd and 10th (Mars), the 4th and 9th (Venus) and the 6th (Moon).
• 6th and 10th lords together: service, career, job concerns.
• Venus is the main one. He is the kāraka in the 6th, and he owns the 9th — the bādhaka sthāna for a fixed lagna, and the house of immigration here.
• The bādhaka lord gives sudden worries without a clear reason. In the 6th he makes the native take decisions that delay the marriage — green card and immigration concerns.

October: Aries (September 24 – October 24, 2003)

• Lagna Chakra of the month: Aries.
• The 7th lord Venus is in the 2nd, Taurus, with the Moon. 7th lord in the 2nd can give marriage.
• The lagna lord Mars is in the 8th, Scorpio. Not conducive.
• Mars and Venus aspect each other — sama-saptaka, graha dṛṣṭi. A yoga of lagna lord and 7th lord exists, but not on the 1st or 7th.
• The planets making this yoga are Mars, Venus and Moon — the three who sit in the 6th in the annual chart, where their agenda is to delay the marriage.
• So there is talk of marriage in the month. They create the situation, and they postpone it.

"Planets with that agenda are told in this month, 'Hey, this month looks good, get them married.' And what will they do? They will create situations, but they will postpone it."

February: Leo (the month containing February 1, 2004)

• Lagna Chakra of the month: Leo.
• The lagna lord Sun is in the 7th, Aquarius, with the 7th lord Saturn and the kāraka Venus.
• Lagna lord and 7th lord together in the 7th, with the kāraka of marriage joining them. Nothing else need be looked at.
• In the annual chart the marriage was shown by Sun and Rahu, on Aquarius and Leo. In this month the Sun comes to the front again, in the same sign, Aquarius, on the same axis.
• The Sun is in an inimical sign here too. He still gave the marriage, because it agreed with his agenda in the annual chart.
