BPHS Ch.25 — 10th Lord in Houses 10–12: Harsa+Sal Yoga = Master of All Work + Truthful (10H), Wealthy Family + Cheerful + Business Indicator (11H), Skillful but Anxious/Unconfident (12H) & Free Will vs Destiny: Natal = Pre-Birth Karma, Current Action = Completely Yours

10L in 10H: master of all work/skills (from 6H, 10L = "Harsa Yoga" = 6th lord in 6th = accumulator of skills; "master of all, not jack of all"); happy (from 4H, 10L = 7L in 1H = 4H fortified); bold (from 3H, 10L = "Sal Yoga" = 8th lord in 8th = straightforward boldness; "jumps in without thinking"); truthful and speaks for dharma (from 2H, 10L = 9L in 9H = "dharma in speech; speaks for dharma"); devoted to gurus (Argala on 2H sustaining dharma and devotion). 10L in 11H: wealthy family (from 2H, 10L = 9L in 10H = Kona lord in Kendra = excellent for family wealth); cheerful (Kendra lord aspecting trine = work links to emotional fulfillment = "always optimistic and happy"); virtuous/talented (Argala on lagna from 11H = "talents and skills form part of basic personality; shaped for important work"); truthful; good for business (10H+11H = final Artha+Kama link = "business indicator"). 10L in 12H: heavy work expenses (10L = honor; 12H = loss = "resources for maintaining honor go to expenses — taxes, fines, spending on career building"); always dealing with enemies (from 6H, 10L = in 7H = "in conversation/confrontation with enemies constantly"); skillful but anxious (from 5H, 10L = 6L in 8H = Viparita Raj Yoga = "skills exist but no confidence behind them; 6H of growing skills in 8H of termination = skills acquired but not confidently owned"). Free Will vs Destiny: "Horoscope = crystallized pre-birth karma. Free will = current actions — NOT shown in natal chart. Most people respond to circumstances predictably, letting karma decide direction. True free will = pausing to see all options and choosing differently. Prasna includes post-birth karma; natal does not. Practical advice: do your best action, offer result to Krishna, do not dwell — dwelling on action generates more karma."

"Your previous actions decide current circumstances, but your current actions are completely in your hand. Unfortunately, for many people, even though they are completely free in the moment, they do what circumstances basically suggest without looking at other options. That is why most lives seem predetermined — not because they are, but because people don't exercise the free will they have."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

BPHS Chapter 25: 10th Lord in Houses 7–12

10th Lord in 7th House

Sanskrit results: Marital bliss; compassionate/alert mind (Manasvi); virtuous; talkative; interested in dharma and truth

Explanation:

  • Marital bliss: 10th lord (a Kendra lord) blesses 7th house; from 7th house as lagna, the 4th lord of Sukha is in lagna → planet's agenda is to give comfort in marriage
  • Compassionate/mindful (Manasvi): From 5th house of emotions, two Upachaya lords giving Upachaya yoga → very emotional; also 10th lord is in 7th = work involves dealing with other people; naturally concerned about others; "someone who has a mind, who is not a robot"
  • Talkative (not eloquent): From 2nd house, 9th lord is in 6th = nothing fancy for eloquence; but from 7th house, 4th lord in lagna = person finds comfort in dealing/talking with people → chatterbox, always seeking company, not necessarily articulate but always talking; "talks a lot to people"
  • Interested in dharma: 10th lord in 7th has Argala on 9th house (sustaining Argala on 9th) + is in 11th house of fulfillment with Argala → person actively fulfills his dharma through work and interactions; "implements dharma, doesn't just know it"

10th Lord in 8th House

Sanskrit results: Jobless/unstable work; long life; always blaming others/picking fights

Explanation:

  • Jobless or unstable work: 8th house = setbacks, instability; 10th lord there = instability in career; BUT also possible: 8th lord has Argala on 10th house = lots of hard work; 10th lord in 8th can mean workaholic, very dedicated worker; "don't tell anyone with 10th lord in 8th that they won't have a job — most will have jobs, just rocky careers"
  • Long life: 8th house = longevity house; a Kendra lord (10th) placed there blesses it; moreover, 10th house shows important societal work — God keeps such a person alive to complete the work; also from 3rd house, this is a good placement for vitality
  • Blaming others/picking fights: From 5th house of emotional equilibrium, 6th lord is in 4th house = comfort zone is full of enmity/quarrels; from 6th house of enemies, this planet is 3rd lord in 3rd house = initiative in picking fights; "someone who has quarreling initiative"; 8th house = house of initiative in picking fights (3rd from 6th)

10th Lord in 9th House

Sanskrit results: King or king-equivalent; wealth and children; extremely fortunate

Explanation:

  • King or minister: 10th lord of Karma in 9th house of Dharma = Dharma-Karma Yoga (same as 9th lord in 10th); extremely powerful; if born in royal family = king; if not = king-equivalent
  • Note: When 9th lord and 10th lord are together (in 9th or 10th or in a Kendra/trine) = even better than either alone = superior Dharma-Karma Yoga
  • Wealth and children: Parashara says so; he is in general talking about overall fortune; nothing specific can be derived for wealth or children in isolation, but "Fortune itself is strong = all aspects of fortune flourish"

10th Lord in 10th House

Sanskrit results: Skilled in all work; happy; bold; truthful; devoted to gurus

Explanation:

  • Skilled in all work: Lord in own house = strength; from 6th house of skills, this is Harsa Yoga (6th lord in 6th) = accumulator of skills; "master of all, not jack of all"
  • Happy: From 4th house of comfort, 7th lord is in 1st house → 4th house is fortified; happy and peaceful
  • Bold: From 3rd house of valor, this is Sal Yoga (8th lord in 8th) = very straightforward boldness; doesn't think much, just acts; "jumps in"
  • Truthful: From 2nd house of speech, 9th lord is in 9th house = dharma in speech; from 9th house, this is 2nd lord = person "speaks for dharma"
  • Devoted to gurus: From 9th house showing gurus, Argala on 2nd house; person sustains their dharma and devotion to elders through speech and conduct

10th Lord in 11th House

Sanskrit results: Wealthy; blessed with children; cheerful; virtuous/talented; always comfortable

Explanation:

  • Wealthy: From 2nd house, 9th lord is in 10th house = Kona lord in Kendra = excellent for wealth; family and extended family will flourish
  • Good family: 2nd house of family is blessed because 9th lord (fortune for 2nd) is in Kendra from 2nd
  • Cheerful: Kendra lord (10th) aspecting a Kona (5th house) → work links to emotional fulfillment; person does work that makes them emotionally satisfied → always optimistic and cheerful
  • Virtuous/talented: 10th lord has Argala on lagna → basic personality has qualities conducive to work; talents and skills form part of the personality; "the planet influencing your basic nature shapes you for important work in society"
  • Truthful: From 2nd house, 9th lord in 10th = Dharma in speech; same reasoning as 10th lord in 10th
  • Always comfortable: Even though 4th house is not ideally placed, 10th lord aspects one of its positions and has Argala on lagna → not the comfort of "sitting and doing nothing" but the comfort of emotional balance and stability
  • Good for business: 10th + 11th = final Artha Trikona linking to final Kama dimension; also Kama Trikona and Artha Trikona linked = good for business

10th Lord in 12th House

Sanskrit results: Expenses on account of king/work; always fearful of enemies; skillful but not confident/worried

Explanation:

  • Expenses on king/government: 10th house = honor from society; lord in 12th house of loss = resources for maintaining honor go to expenses; "expenses on account of work" — could be taxes, fines, spending on career building; person spends heavily to get their work done
  • Fearful of enemies: From 6th house of enemies, this planet is in 7th house of interactions with enemies → person is always dealing with enemies, always in conversation/confrontation with them; the 10th lord forces this; "always talking to enemies"
  • Skillful but unconfident: From 5th house of skills, 6th lord in 8th house = Viparita Raj Yoga → has skills, but Viparita applies here = skills exist but there's no confidence behind them; "6th house of growing skills is in 8th house of termination" = skills acquired but not confidently owned
  • From 3rd house of valor: 8th lord in 10th house = implementing valor hits a wall; "lots of initiative that fizzles out"; combines with the enemies to create someone who is always anxious despite having skills

Key Philosophical Teaching: Free Will vs Destiny

PVNR's position (articulated in response to questions about karma):

  • Horoscope = crystallized karma: All actions taken until birth are encoded in the natal chart; this shows the circumstances of the life
  • Free will = current actions: These are NOT shown in the natal chart; they happen at each moment based on the individual's ego and choices
  • Why most lives seem predetermined: Most people respond to circumstances in predictable ways based on conditioning; they don't pause to consider all options; they go with the "flow" and thus the flow (karma) decides their direction
  • True free will = breaking the flow: Pausing, seeing other options, choosing differently from what circumstances suggest = exercising individual will

PVNR: "Your previous actions decide current circumstances, but your current actions are completely in your hand. But unfortunately for many people, even though they are completely in their hand, they may be doing what the circumstances basically suggest without looking at other options."

— PVNR

Prasna vs Natal Chart

  • Natal chart: Only has karma from pre-birth actions; no information about actions taken since birth
  • Prasna chart: God answers based on ALL karma up to the moment of the question — including post-birth actions
  • Why Prasna Marga says: If natal shows good but prasna shows bad → post-birth bad karma is giving results now

Practical Spiritual Advice (Shankaracharya Bharati reference)

  • "Gatam Gatah" — the past is past; you cannot change previous karma
  • Current action = completely within your control
  • Advice: Do your best action, but offer the result to Krishna immediately ("Sarvam Krishna Pranamsa")
  • Do not dwell on past actions or their results → reduces new karma being generated
  • Dwelling on action (even after it's done) = attachment = generates more karma
  • "Act in the present, offer it up, focus on the next action" = the practical spiritual path
