Sahamas in Annual TP Charts — Foreign Travel Indicators

Two Sahamas

• Paradesa sahama — going to a faraway place.
• Jalapatana sahama — travelling over the ocean.

Natal Chart or Annual Chart?

• In the student's natal chart Paradesa sahama falls in a sign of Saturn and Jalapatana sahama at 4° Sagittarius, a sign of Jupiter. Here that fits the dashas nicely.
• But matching natal sahamas with dashas does not always work. "Look at the annual chart." Sahamas are more important there.

The Rule

If neither Paradesa sahama nor Jalapatana sahama is linked with

• the 9th house or 9th lord,
• the 12th house or 12th lord,
• the badhakasthana or badhakesha,

then it is unlikely the person travels abroad in that year.

• "This is basically seen as a confirmation." The reading starts from the Hora Lord, the ruler of the year; the sahama confirms it.

Tithi Pravesha 2000 — The Year He Went Abroad

He was born on Vaisakha Amavasya with 46.47% of the tithi left. In 2000 the same point returned on June 2, 2000 at 8:12:40 AM. The lunar new year starts then.

Annual chart: Gemini lagna in rasi, Sagittarius lagna in D-4.

Hora Lord Moon

• Moon is the ruler of the year; he shows its important events.
• Rasi: Moon is in the 12th house → displacement.
• D-4: Moon is 8th lord, in the 9th house. The 8th is instability; the 9th is the pursuit of fortune.
• Together: pursuing fortune in a faraway land, with instability of residence that year. This year can give foreign residence.

Sahamas

• Jalapatana sahama is in Virgo.
• Paradesa sahama is at 9°52' Aries. Aries holds Saturn and Jupiter. For the Gemini lagna of the year Saturn is 9th lord and Jupiter is 7th lord, the badhakesha.
• Badhakesha and 9th lord together on Paradesa sahama → a good chance of going abroad.

Who Gave It — Rahu–Rahu

He travelled on June 16. In the annual dasha that is Rahu dasha, Rahu antardasha (June 2 to June 20).

• Rahu is the karaka. "Even if Rahu is not in any important house, he is karaka, he can give it."
• He is 9th lord of the annual rasi chart, as he is in the natal D-4.
• He is in the 2nd house, but in a watery sign (Cancer). A 9th or 12th lord in a watery sign counts.
• In the annual D-4 Rahu is 3rd lord in the 8th: travel, and instability about where he lives and sleeps for those 18 days.

Tithi Pravesha 2004 and 2005 — The Green Card Year

The Running Year (2004–05)

He hopes to get the card in the couple of months left before his birthday, so this year is checked first.

• Hora Lord Venus: 6th and 11th lord, in the 7th house. He could give it, but his agenda is the 6th and 11th. Not a strong candidate.
• The Hora Lord may not give it, but the running dasha may. Jupiter's period is running, then Rahu's from May 15.
• Jupiter: in the 9th house in rasi — dharma; he may turn to more righteous, pious work. In the D-4 he is badhakesha but in the 6th house, with A2 and A8 → anxiety about his fortune rather than the card.
• Rahu: runs for a few days at the end of the year; in the 2nd house, 6th lord. "Not too impressive. Forget it."

The Coming Year (2005–06)

Vaisakha Amavasya with 46.47% left returns on June 6, 2005 at 3:43:51 PM (India time).

Annual chart: Libra lagna in rasi, Capricorn lagna in D-4.

• Hora Lord Jupiter. In rasi he is in the 12th house with Ketu.
• In the D-4 Jupiter is 3rd and 12th lord, placed in the 3rd house (Pisces) with Mars, and the dispositor of Rahu, who is in the 12th house.
• "The karaka for going abroad, Rahu, is sitting in the house for staying in a foreign land." He also has rasi drishti on the 9th.
• In rasi the lagna lord Venus is in the 9th.

"If he was still in India, looking at all these things you can conclude that this year he will go abroad."

• He is already abroad, so the same combinations mean the green card. This is likely to be the year.

A Student Proposes Saturn

His reason: Saturn is in A9.

• Rejected. In the D-4 Saturn is lord of lagna and the 2nd. Lagna is the birthplace; the 12th is the faraway country.
• Saturn can give some fortune, a new beginning, perhaps something bought in the motherland. Not necessarily the green card. "Green card is not the only fortune that you can get."

Rahu or Venus

• Rahu: karaka, in the 12th of the D-4. A very good candidate.
• Venus: yogakaraka for Capricorn lagna, in the 9th house of the D-4, though debilitated. And he is in the 12th from AL.
• 12th from AL: he is perceived to have left. He left India long ago, but once the card comes people say "now he is an American, now he is not coming back."

Prediction: the green card comes in Rahu's or Venus's period of the year — very likely before September 1, 2005. Venus's period runs from June 2005 to September 1, 2005.

(The joke about Venus being in Mercury's sign and Mercury showing the green card is a joke. "This is not knowledge.")

Tithi Pravesha 2005 in D-24 — A Year for Learning

Will he still be coming to class after his birthday? The same annual chart is read in the D-24.

• D-24 lagna of the year is Aries. Hora Lord Jupiter is exalted in the 4th house (Cancer), with Saturn.
• Jupiter is 9th lord and Saturn is 10th lord → Dharma-Karmadhipati yoga. In the D-24 it works for learning, not for the workplace: some auspicious karma in learning.
• A student adds: Jupiter is lord of Arudha Lagna and Saturn is lord of A9, the bhagya pada. A very auspicious pair.
• Jupiter with Saturn is Brahma yoga — a fresh beginning.
• A very good year for traditional knowledge, Vedic knowledge, Brahma vidya.
