• PVNR had not studied this chart before. The exercise is a sanity check: do the things known about her fit the data?
• Two things are known: she was First Lady (so look at the husband, from the Navamsa) and she became a Senator (her own career, from the Dasamsa — left for a later class)
• Applicable dasha: Vimshottari (no special condition applies)

Reading the Husband from Her Navamsa

• In D-9, take the 7th house as the lagna of the spouse. For a second marriage, take the 8th from the 7th, i.e. the 2nd house.
• Her Navamsa lagna is Sagittarius, so the 7th is Gemini, with Mercury in it → Gemini becomes the husband's lagna.

Counted from Gemini:

• Mercury in lagna → learned, intelligent, an eloquent orator (Mercury is the karaka of speakers)
• Career: the 10th is Pisces. Jupiter owns it and aspects it, so Jupiter decides the career — law is one of the things Jupiter gives (a priest or teacher would fit too). He was an attorney.

• Sun in the 7th, aspecting lagna by both graha drishti and rasi drishti → charisma. Sun is the original source of light; when he influences the lagna, the person has natural charisma.
• Ketu in the 2nd → very clear speech (dwitiye sphuta vag-data — in the 2nd, the giver of clear speech)
• Moon in the 3rd (Leo, a fiery sign; Moon is waxing, so a benefic) → a benefic in the house of initiative makes a person cheerful even in hard times. Jupiter in the 3rd does the same.
• Dharma-Karma Adhipati Yoga: Saturn is the 9th lord and Jupiter the 10th lord. Saturn sits in the 10th (Pisces) and Jupiter aspects him from the 4th (Virgo) — the Raj Yoga of the 9th and 10th lords.
  • The yoga does not need the two planets to be in quadrants; quadrant placement only lets the person use it better
  • It is mainly a yoga from lagna, not from the Moon

Caution: this is not Bill Clinton's own Rashi chart. In a person's own chart there is the lagna, Arudha lagna, the 3rd from each, the Arudha of the 3rd and more. Here everything is being read from one house of someone else's Navamsa, so only a broad, overall reading is possible.

Venus Dasha — Husband's Rise

• She ran Venus Mahadasha from 1986 to 2006, and her husband held power in that period
• From Gemini, Venus owns the 5th and the 12th and sits in the 12th (Taurus)
• 12th lord in the 12th = Vimala Yoga, so Venus is a good planet; and as the 5th lord he can give power
• The three yogas of this family, for reference: Harsha (6th lord in the 6th — always cheerful), Sarala (8th lord in the 8th — straightforward, an achiever), Vimala (12th lord in the 12th). Of the three, only Vimala is present in this chart.
• Limit of Vimshottari: it says the husband has some power between 1986 and 2006. It cannot say which year, or whether it was the presidency or a promotion. Vimshottari works well for the native's own events; for relatives it gives only a guideline.

Narayana Dasha for Spouse Events

"When you are born, you have a certain Lagna. As time progresses, something else starts to function as if it was your Lagna. So that is what Narayana Dasha shows."

• The ordinary Navamsa Narayana Dasha shows how she follows dharma through life. For the husband a variation is needed.
• Take Gemini (the spouse's lagna) and start from the stronger of Gemini and its 7th, Sagittarius. The software reports Sagittarius as the stronger, so set the starting sign to Sagittarius.
• Sagittarius is the husband's 7th house. A dasha started from the 7th traces how the 7th house moves, so the 7th from the dasha sign is his progressed lagna.

Cancer Dasha (1983–1994) → progressed lagna = Capricorn

Three things to read for a dasha sign: the yogas in the sign, where its lord sits and what yoga he gives, and the chart taken with that sign as lagna.

1. Capricorn's lord is Saturn, and Saturn is one of the two planets of the Dharma-Karma Adhipati Yoga (counted from Gemini) → that Raj Yoga can fructify in this dasha
2. Mars sits in Capricorn. From Gemini, Mars is the 6th lord in the 8th house → Vipareeta Raj Yoga → a sudden rise
3. With Capricorn as lagna, Venus owns the 5th and the 10th → he is the Yogakaraka, and he sits in the 5th house of power (Taurus) → great power in this dasha. This is the most important of the three.

Taurus Antardasha (Dec 24, 1992 – Nov 25, 1993): Taurus is the 5th from Capricorn and holds the 5th lord Venus, so this antardasha has to deliver the power. Bill Clinton took office as President in January 1993.

Yogakaraka

• When the same planet owns a quadrant and a trine, it is called a Yogakaraka
• For Capricorn lagna that planet is Venus (5th and 10th lord)

How Far to Trust This

• Events of a husband, a mother-in-law and other relatives can be read from the native's chart, but take them with a pinch of salt — they are never as exact as predictions for the native
• PVNR adds that better dashas for this purpose must exist, and are lost to us
