Marana Karaka from Multiple References, Pilgrimage Indicators in D20, Kula Devata & Marriage Muhurta

Marana Karaka Sthana can be evaluated from ANY reference point — not just Lagna. From a house (as temporary lagna), from a karaka, from a planet's own sign ("if a planet is in MK Sthana from its own sign, it hurts that sign even as its lord — Saturn is the classic case"). Parivartana + MK: if both planets in a parivartana are in MK Sthanas from each other's signs, the parivartana trigger can neutralize the MK effect. Pilgrimage indicators: use Rashi + Navamsha + D20 (primary); 9th house = dharma/long journey; 10th house Rahu = pilgrimages when Rahu dasha comes; karakas = Sun+Jupiter for local dharmic activities; Rahu+Ketu for foreign/distant pilgrimages ("going from South India to Punjab = everything is new and foreign = Rahu/Ketu apply"). Kula Devata (family deity): primary indicator = 2nd house in D20 (family spiritual inheritance); also A2, 2nd lord placement in D20; Rashi for fine-tuning. Marriage Muhurta essentials: (1) standalone chart quality (primary, overrides everything); (2) Chandrabala; (3) Tarabala; (4) Hora Lord should NOT be 6th or 8th lord for either person (worst case to avoid); (5) Muhurta lagna with reasonable Ashtakavarga score. "Do not shoot for the best muhurta — just avoid the terrible things."

"Any place a planet can be in a death-causing position for that particular thing. The 2nd house in D20 shows your family deity — the deity your ancestors worshipped for generations. That connection is waiting for you."

Marana Karaka Sthana — Multiple Reference Points

Question: Is MK Sthana only from Lagna or also from other references?

Answer: MK Sthana can be evaluated from any reference point:

  • From Lagna — standard usage
  • From any house (taking that house as temporary lagna)
  • From a karaka (planet acting as significator)
  • From a planet's own sign — if a planet occupies MK Sthana from its own sign, that is particularly bad for that house/sign
  • From Arudha or other special lagnas

"Any place a planet can be in a death-causing position as far as that thing is concerned. Anything taken as reference — if Sun is in 12th house from it, Sun is causing some kind of dissolution to that particular thing."

Example: Venus exalted in Pisces → Venus is in MK Sthana from Libra (6th from Libra = Pisces). So even though Venus is exalted and very happy in Pisces, he can give a fatal blow to Libra significations at some point.

Rule for planet in MK Sthana from its own house: "If a planet is in MK Sthana from its own sign, it hurts that sign even if it's the lord. Saturn is the classic case — Saturn in his own sign still hurts it (because 1st house = Saturn's MK Sthana)."

Parivartana and MK Sthana: If both planets in a parivartana are in their respective MK Sthanas (from each other's signs), but they have parivartana, the MK effect may be neutralized when the parivartana is triggered.

  • PVNR's example: Sanjay Rath once pointed out that in a Kanya (Virgo) Dasamsha, Venus and Rahu in parivartana — both in MK Sthanas from lagna — but parivartana triggers cancel the MK effect

Pilgrimage — Indicators and Analysis

How to judge pilgrimage/religious travel:

Charts to use: Rashi + Navamsha + Vimshamsha (D20) (D20 = spiritual activities = primary)

Key houses: 9th and 10th

  • 9th house = Dharma, long journeys for dharmic purpose
  • 10th house = Karma; Rahu in 10th → pilgrimages when Rahu dasha/antardasha comes

Karakas:

  • General dharmic activities: Sun and Jupiter
  • Foreign/distant pilgrimages (going to a place culturally different from one's own): Rahu and Ketu (they are karakas for foreign culture)
  • "If you are from South India going to Punjab or Orissa for a religious reason — everything is new and foreign to you. So Rahu/Ketu apply."

Family Deity (Kula Devata) — How to Identify

Primary rule: 2nd house in Vimshamsha (D20)

  • The 2nd house represents family tradition, lineage, and inherited patterns
  • In D20 (spirituality chart), the 2nd house shows the family's spiritual inheritance = the Kula Devata
  • Also look at: 2nd lord, A2 (Arudha of 2nd), planets aspecting 2nd in D20

Cross-reference with Rashi:

  • See the 2nd lord of Rashi → where does he sit in D20?
  • See planets connected to A2 in Rashi → see their significations in D20
  • "The deity is from Vimshamsha. The Rashi can give fine-tuning, but the core principle is 2nd house in D20."

Marriage Muhurta — Essentials Only

Primary elements (most important):

  1. The Muhurta itself as a standalone chart — must be independently auspicious; this is primary
  2. Chandrabala — Moon's strength relative to birth Moon nakshatra of both bride and groom
  3. Tarabala — Nakshatra relationship between Muhurta and natal Moon nakshatras

Secondary checks: 4. Hora Lord at the time of the main event (e.g., saptapadi) — should NOT be 6th or 8th lord in either chart; ideally 7th, 9th, or 12th lord 5. Lagna in Muhurta — avoid a sign that has terrible Ashtakavarga score (e.g., 16 points or less) in either person's chart

"Do not shoot for the best possible muhurta. Just avoid the terrible things — that is enough. Worst thing to avoid: Hora Lord being 6th or 8th lord for either person."

The most important rule: "The muhurta taken as standalone — independently auspicious — overrides everything. Give lot of importance to this."
