AK Placement: Rashi vs. Navamsa

The Thumb Rule

Take the AK as the reference point and see where the other karakas fall from it.

• Together = the best placement; the two souls are in union
• Mutual quadrants = the two souls promote each other. Trines are also good, but for the soul quadrants matter more, because quadrants sustain
• 6th, 8th, 12th from AK = that karaka suffers; what it wants and what your soul wants are opposite
• 12th from AK = the house of giving up; the soul ignores that karaka
• Rashi chart = the soul's journey at the level of physical existence
• Navamsa = the ideology, the dharma of the soul. Karakas well placed from the AK there are souls who share your dharma

George Bush Sr.

(Jun 12 1924, 11:40 AM, 4 hours west of GMT, 71°W05, 42°N15 — Leo lagna)

• AK = Sun → the main problem of this soul is ego
• PuK = Mercury, with the Sun in the 10H → Raj Yoga, but not Maharaja Yoga, since it is not in lagna or the 5H. It is in the house of karma: as he does his work in society he gathers a following, and that following makes him a king
• PiK = Jupiter, in the 7th from the AK → mutual quadrants. Souls above him protect and promote him. He rises by favour of authority, not by opposing it
• He became Vice President first, under Reagan, and then President. He did not rise suddenly
• GK = Saturn in the 6th from the AK → rival souls that are a hindrance to his own soul; constant opposition in life
• Venus is in the 2nd from the AK — not a bad placement

George W. Bush

• Rashi: from Venus (AK), only the Sun is badly placed — in the 12th. The Sun is his MK → motherly souls around him are ignored by him. Every other karaka is reasonably placed. At the physical level nothing opposes what his soul wants, so he can rise and hold power.
• Navamsa: Venus is exalted in Pisces. But five planets — Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu — sit in Leo, the 6th from the AK. At the level of dharma, many souls are against the dharma his soul has chosen.

"Physically, nobody is fighting with him. Physically, he has a smooth run, but ideologically, there are so many souls who don't believe, who don't share his ideology."

Had those planets been in the 5th from Venus, his actions on his ideology would have met no such opposition.

Vivekananda

(Jan 12 1863, 6:33 AM, Calcutta — Sagittarius lagna)

Rashi chart:

• AK = Sun, in lagna
• PiK = Rahu, in the 12th from the AK → badly placed. Few fatherly figures disciplined him, and he lost his father young

"If the Pitrukaraka is badly placed from Atmakaraka, there are several possibilities: not having a good relationship with father, shunning father, or also losing father very early."

Which of these happens is seen from the dashas and the Sthira Karakas.

• AmK = Moon, in the 10th from the AK → able counsellors when he set up the Ramakrishna Math and his other organizations; Moon makes them compassionate, sweet, diplomatic people
• BK = Saturn, with the Moon in the 10th from the AK → the guru and godbrothers support him. Saturn shows ascetics, disciplined people, yogis: his guru was a sadhaka. Saturn can also show Kali, which fits this guru, but PVNR says not to rely on that everywhere

Navamsa:

• Sun stays in Sagittarius
• Moon (AmK) in the 7th from the AK → his counsellors share his ideology, not only his work
• Venus (PuK) in the 4th from the AK → his followers share it too
• Saturn (BK) and Mars (GK) in the 6th from the AK

Had the Moon been well placed in Rashi but in the 8th from the AK in Navamsa, the counsellors would have helped him physically without sharing his ideology.

Natural Friendship Modifies the Thumb Rule

A student asked: the BK is in the 6th from the AK in Navamsa, so he should not have had a good guru.

Two answers:

1. The 6th is the house of overcoming obstacles. His atma had an obstacle to overcome — ego, ahankara. A guru in the 6th from the AK is the one who helps overcome it.
2. The natural relationship between the two planets decides.

"The thumb rule I gave, of being in quadrants and trines being good, is only a thumb rule. It's not absolute."

• Sun and Saturn being enemies does not make Ramakrishna and Vivekananda enemies. Their souls come from two different paths: one from enlightenment and the ego that comes with it, the other from yoga, sadhana, discipline and austerity. For that soul to guide this one, this one has to overcome obstacles. So the 6th is a good placement here.
• GK = Mars in the 6th from the Sun is the opposite case. They are friends, so the 6th is bad → determined, fighting enemies who think the dharma he chose is wrong.

"Had the planet been Jupiter, we know this is bad. This is somebody who would have problems with his guru. Because the planet is Shani, we said that 6th house is actually good."

Advice for the same combination in another chart: he has an ego to overcome, and a disciplined, sannyasi-like yogi will help him. If he has such a guru and doubts him, tell him to follow. If he has none, tell him to pray to a deity shown by Saturn, and he will find that guru.

When does it happen? In the dasha of the planet — Saturn's, or possibly the Sun's — and with transits. Vimshottari is not enough for this; there are dashas based on the Atmakaraka, taken up later.

When the AK Overrides Everything

Everything in the Rashi chart may look good — a high officer, successful — and the person still feels discontented and disconnected. If the AK is badly placed and a bad dasha is running from the AK, that is the reason. Tell him to pray to the Ishta Devata.
