Gandanta planets and Raj Yoga: Gandanta does NOT weaken a planet's Raj Yoga contribution — they are independent phenomena. Question: If a planet in Gandanta is giving a Raj Yoga, is the yoga weak?
Answer: No. Gandanta does NOT weaken a planet's Raj Yoga contribution.
Rules:
- Planets in Vargottama position (often near Gandantas) can actually be in excellent Vaiseshikaamsas → Raj Yogas may be stronger
- Gandanta = planet's inclination to give physical harm — a big blow, usually physical
- The yoga result and the physical harm are separate phenomena
Analogy: "It is like someone who will give you a $1000 check, but by accident hits your foot with a hammer. The $1000 check is real. The hammer blow is also real. They have nothing to do with each other."
Exception: If a malefic Duryoga (e.g., lagna lord + 8th lord, or lagna lord + 6th lord) involves a Gandanta planet, THAT yoga is augmented — the planet's tendency to harm is amplified in the context of harm yoga. But for pure Raj Yogas or Dhana Yogas, Gandanta does not reduce them.
A9 vs L9 for Father
Context: When to use A9 vs L9 when analyzing the father

Important caveat: "You cannot predict based on this because roughly 30-40% of the time the conditions appear. Only use for confirmation when you already suspect something, or to see if a critical period for father has recovery potential."
When both A9 and L9 are relevant:
- When father dies, both the inanimate image (A9) AND the animated intelligence (L9) have vanished — both can show indications
- But A9 is the clearer indicator for physical/inanimate events
Adopted Children — No Classical Guidelines

What 5th house weakness means:
- 5th house = your ability to pass your soul/essence to a child (biological)
- Saturn/Ketu afflictions on 5th → Datta Putra yoga: having to adopt; inability to have biological children

- "Who can stop you from giving love to somebody?" — adoption is always possible
For whether adoption happens in a year:
- Look for positive influences on 5th house in that year's annual/TP chart
- "If the natal 5th house is weak, the annual chart's positive 5th house influence may show adoption"
Muhurta Ethics — Astrologer as Servant
When client doesn't follow your muhurta:
- Not your business; you gave the advice, your job is done
- "We are not commanding them. We are serving them."
- Exception: if they are your sishya (student) → you can command
When they ask about the new date they chose:
- Tell them honestly if it is a bad muhurta
- But then "good luck" — no further obligation
On the astrologer's responsibility: "If you tell them something and they don't follow it and then something bad happens, you just watched. Nothing you can do."
