D7 Counting Corrections, Harsha/Tarala/Vimala Yogas & Satabdika Dasha
D7 reversal rule correction: Ketu in 7th house (not lagna) reverses the count — because 5th house = 11th from 7th (gains from marriage). If Jupiter or Saturn is with Ketu in 7th, they may suppress the reversal. Children from 2nd marriage: count from 12th house (11th from 2nd house). Odd/even sex exceptions: Cancer (even)=boy, Pisces (even)=boy, Aquarius (odd)=girl, Gemini (odd)=girl. Ketu in the "end house" while counting blocks further children unless strong Jupiter Argala. Harsha Yoga (6th lord in 6th = cheerfulness, easy overcoming of enemies), Tarala Yoga (8th lord in 8th), Vimala Yoga (12th lord in 12th). Harsha Yoga in marriage context: any ending happens without pain — "any change will happen happily." Satabdika Dasha: applicable when Navamsa lagna is Vargottama. Karyesha for divisional charts: D20 karyesha = 5th lord of Rashi; D10 karyesha = 10th lord of Rashi.
"Harsha Yoga means 6th lord in its own house. Any loss that comes through this combination happens cheerfully — it will not be painful. Even ending a marriage happens with equanimity."

D7 Saptamsha — Corrected Counting Rule
Correction from Previous Lesson
"The actual rule for Rahu/Ketu reversing the count is NOT whether they are in lagna. The actual rule is: if Rahu or Ketu is in the 7th house, then count backwards."
Why 7th house?
- "5th house represents children because it is the 11th house of gains from the 7th house of marriage"
- "So when you say 'count 5 houses from lagna for first child,' it actually means count 11 houses from the 7th house"
- If 7th house is odd → counting 11 forward from 7th = counting 5 forward from lagna (same thing)
- If Ketu is in 7th house = "Ketu is at the starting point of counting children" → reverse the direction
But: Either way, if Ketu is in lagna, Rahu is in 7th (they are always opposite), so the practical result is the same — the rule is equivalent. The theoretical basis is 7th house.
Exception: Jupiter or Saturn with Ketu in 7th
"Sometimes even if Ketu is in the 7th house, we may count normally, provided it is with a strong Jupiter or Saturn (conservative planet)."
- Jupiter applies intelligence → sometimes deviates from reversal
- Saturn = ultra-conservative: "Why change what has worked for trillions of years?"
- "If Jupiter is with Ketu in the 7th, Jupiter may suppress Ketu's instinct to reverse and make it more traditional/standard-based"
Children from Second Marriage
Rule: "If the person marries a second time, the first child from that marriage is seen from the 12th house — it is the 11th house of gains from the 2nd house."
- "2nd house shows the 2nd marriage because it is the 8th house (of breaks) from the 7th house (of first marriage)"
- "If 2nd house is odd sign → count 11 houses forward; if even sign → count 11 houses backward"
- "If Ketu or Rahu is in the 7th house from 2nd house (i.e., in the 8th house), reverse the count"
General principle: "First identify which house shows this particular marriage, then count children from there."
Odd Sign / Even Sign Sex Determination — Full List
Basic rule: Odd sign = boy; Even sign = girl Exceptions (from transcript + Book2):
- Cancer (even) → boy (exception)
- Pisces (even) → boy (exception)
- Aquarius (odd) → girl (exception)
- Gemini (odd) → girl (exception)
Note: "Finding sex of a child using D7 doesn't give perfect results always."
Harsha, Tarala, Vimala Yogas
| Yoga | Condition | Name |
|---|---|---|
| Harsha Yoga | 6th lord in 6th house | "H" for happiness/cheerfulness |
| Tarala Yoga | 8th lord in 8th house | "T" |
| Vimala Yoga | 12th lord in 12th house | "V" |
"Remember: H, T, V — Harsha, Tarala, Vimala."
- Harsha Yoga: Person is cheerful and happy; overcomes enemies; the 6th house matters come with ease and cheerfulness
- Harsha Yoga in marriage context: "Even if Venus giving Harsha Yoga in 6th house causes some end in marriage, it will not be painful. Any change will happen happily/complacently."
Satabdika Dasha — When Applicable
Rule: Satabdika dasha is applicable when the Navamsa lagna is Vargottama (same sign in Rashi and Navamsa)
- If Navamsa lagna is vargottama → use Satabdika dasha
- If not → use Vimshottari dasha
In this chart: Navamsa lagna is Sagittarius and it is vargottama → Satabdika dasha applies.
