Narayana Dasha 4-Part Subdivision (Benefic: Occupancy→Yogas→Ownership→Avastha; Malefic: Reversed), Tithi Nityas (15 Forms) & DST in Muhurta

Narayana Dasha 4-part subdivision within each portion. For NATURAL BENEFICS: (1) occupancy — results of house the planet is in; (2) yogas — yogas the planet participates in; (3) ownership — results of houses it owns; (4) avastha/dignity — planet's own state. For NATURAL MALEFICS: order is reversed (avastha first, then ownership, then yogas, then occupancy last). "A nice person remembers where he is — gives house results first. Malefics are reversed." Context determines classification: when using Navamsa for marriage, treat Sun as benefic for that subdivision even if functionally complex. Tithi Nityas: 15 forms of Tripura Divine Mother corresponding to 15 tithis of bright fortnight. Mahavidyas = spiritual (for understanding Maya, not for material). Nityas = material/mind plane: Karma Nitya (career), Lava Nitya (financial gains), Mrityu Nitya (mental turbulence/accidents), Karatra Nitya (marital problems), Shatru Nitya (enemies), Putra Nitya (children), Dhana Nitya (family/wealth). Jyotish Tithi (natal Moon-Sun differential): fixed property showing area of challenge — but very superficial; verify with house analysis. DST rule: always use locally adjusted time zone; override software if DST coding is behind. Without DST adjustment, TP times can differ by up to 15 minutes, which can change Navamsa lagna. Trilochana Yoga: Sun+Moon+Mars in mutual trine = Shiva yoga, power.

"A nice person remembers where he is. He will give results of the house he is in first. Then he remembers his ownership. Malefics are reversed — they don't care where they are, they care what they can do."

— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Narayana Dasha 4-Part Subdivision — Order for Benefics vs Malefics

When a planet gives results within a Narayana Dasha portion, that portion can be further subdivided into 4 parts. The order is:

For NATURAL BENEFICS:

  1. Occupancy — results of the house the planet occupies (the "kind person remembers where he is")
  2. Yogas — results of any yogas the planet participates in
  3. Ownership — results of the houses the planet owns
  4. Avastha/Dignity — results of the planet's own state (exalted = confidence; debilitated = depression, etc.)

For NATURAL MALEFICS: Order is reversed (4→3→2→1: avastha first, then ownership, then yogas, then occupancy last)

"A nice person remembers where he is. He will give results of the house he is in first. Then he remembers his ownership. Malefics are reversed."

— PVNR

Follow-up question: When using Navamsa for marriage (where Sun would be a benefic for that purpose), treat him as benefic in that subdivision even if functionally complex. Context determines benefic/malefic classification in these sub-periods.

Tithi Nityas — 15 Forms of Divine Mother

What are they: 15 forms of the Divine Mother (Tripura Nityas) corresponding to the 15 tithis of the bright fortnight (Pratipat to Purnima).

Mahavidyas vs Nityas:

  • Mahavidyas: Spiritual — for highest understanding of Maya and the field of duality; how to overcome it
  • Nityas: Material/mind plane — for well-being, peace of mind, material happiness in various areas of life

Area-specific Nityas (propitiate for these concerns):

ConcernNitya
Career/actionKarma Nitya
Financial gainsLava Nitya
Mental turbulence/accidentsMrityu Nitya
Marital problemsKaratra Nitya
Enemy problemsShatru Nitya
Children problemsPutra Nitya
Family/wealthDhana Nitya

Jyotish Tithi (natal Moon–Sun differential):

  • Each person's Jyotish Tithi is fixed in the natal chart (and all their TP charts)
  • The area corresponding to that tithi shows challenges — e.g., Amavasya Jyotish Tithi = children area is challenging
  • BUT: this is very superficial; don't predict just from tithi — verify with house analysis

Tithi Deities (rulers):

  • Chaturthi → Ganesha
  • Saptami → Sun
  • Ashtami → Krishna
  • Dwadashi → Vishnu
  • Shodashi → Shiva
  • Shashti → Subrahmanyam
  • Amavasya → Kali

How to do Tithi Nitya sadhana:

  • Find the current tithi at the time you are doing sadhana
  • Worship that tithi's Nitya with the appropriate mantra
  • Mantras ending in tarpayami namah swaha have a procedure (offering liquid/water) — learn from a guru
  • Without guru initiation: just repeat the deity's name; e.g., Om Mithya Klinnaye Namah is repeatable anytime

Daylight Saving Time in Muhurta/TP Calculations

Rule: Always use the LOCAL ADJUSTED TIME ZONE (accounting for DST) when:

  1. Giving muhurta times to clients
  2. Calculating Tithi Pravesh charts for people in that time zone
  3. Finding fortnightly/monthly chart start times for clients

Reason: The person will act based on their clock. The chart must match the actual moment of action.

US DST issue: Software expands DST by a week or two at beginning/end that may not be coded. During transition period: override the software's assumed time zone manually.

"When I tell you a time for a puja, it is my responsibility to ensure all calculations are done for that time in your time zone."

— PVNR

Ayanamsa variation note (Vishnashi/Chitravaksha plane): When using the fixed-plane ayanamsa variant (vs standard Lahiri), TP times can differ by up to 15 minutes — this can change navamsa lagna in TP charts. PVNR prefers the fixed-plane variant as more logically consistent.
