Saturn Dasha in D24 (A9+A5+A11 Confluence), Exalted vs Debilitated Planet in 3rd/6th from AL & D20 Spiritual Analysis

Saturn Mahādaśā Judged in D-24 — Never Ignore Arudha Lagna

The Vimshottari mahādaśā running is Saturn's. He is a student, so Saturn is judged in D-24.

From lagna

• Saturn is in Taurus, a friendly sign, in the 7th.
• For Scorpio lagna he is a functional malefic. He is 3rd lord in the 7th: he gives strong desire. "Nothing really great."

From Arudha Lagna

"Never ignore Arudha Lagna. Don't just look from lagna."

• Saturn is a malefic in the 3rd from Arudha Lagna. A malefic there destroys enemies.
• In education "destroying enemies" means clearing every exam, doing well, being at the top of the class.
• A9, A5 and A11 are all with Saturn: the ārūḍhas of both trines and of fulfilment of desires.
• Any two of them together would have been excellent. A9 with A11 is tangible fortune joined to tangible gains. A5 with A11, excellent. A5 with A9, excellent. "This is all the three. So he is very lucky."
• Rahu and Ketu are also well placed, in the 3rd from lagna and the 11th from Arudha Lagna. Saturn beats them because of the three ārūḍhas.

Verdict

• Saturn daśā is brilliant for education. "Not probably, I think the greatest daśā." No other planet in the D-24 is as well placed from the ārūḍha side.
• He must be doing well right now. There are good rāja yogas in the chart and he is a smart boy.
• So the astrologer cannot tell the parents their son is in trouble and must do remedies in order to study. The Amāvāsyā and Saṅkrānti doṣas "have not bitten him yet".

Saturn–Sun antardaśā

Sun's antardaśā is about to begin. Saturn–Sun is usually tricky because the two are enemies. His picture: your friend runs the company, goes abroad for a month, and someone who hates him holds the power of attorney meanwhile.

• The daśā itself is so good that any dip in an antardaśā will be marginal, not a fall.
• Education (D-24): from Saturn, Sun is in the 3rd. The 3rd from Sun is Virgo, the 11th house. The bhoga of Saturn–Sun falls in the 11th: fructification of desires. Not bad.
• Father and health (rāśi): Sun is 9th lord in the 12th, his maraṇa kāraka sthāna, both from lagna and from Saturn, who is in lagna. 9th lord in maraṇa kāraka sthāna: danger to the father or loss of fortune.
• Sun is with Venus, the 6th lord, and Mercury, the bādhakeśa. Venus is combust, but this Sun is very weak himself. "This is a case of you destroy me, I destroy you." 9th lord afflicted by 6th lord is a duryoga.
• D-12: Sun is 8th lord, and the bhoga of Saturn–Sun falls in the 12th from lagna. Not good for the father.
• Conclusion: for learning there is no problem. For his own health or the father's, the coming year is risky. The father should be careful.

"So I don't see any problem to the bachelor's education, but I see some other problems which we did not intend to see, but we ended up seeing."

Saturn–Moon antardaśā

• In D-24 Moon is in the 2nd from Saturn. The 2nd from Moon is Cancer, the 9th house. The bhoga falls in the 9th.
• In Moon antardaśā the bachelor's education takes off.

Remedy

• A homa at home within the coming month or two: a Navagraha homa or a Mṛtyuñjaya homa, or a Saṅkrānti śānti (Amāvāsyā and Saṅkrānti śānti can be combined).
• If they cannot do those, a simple homa for Sun followed by the Mṛtyuñjaya mantra.

A side question — parivartana and a conditional daśā

A student asks: if the 10th lord is in the 4th and the 4th lord in the 10th, the exchange makes it as though the 10th lord were in the 10th. Does Chaturāśīti-sama daśā then apply? No. The conditions of the conditional daśās are not extended through parivartana.

Is He Spiritual? D-20, the Arudha Lagna Rule, and the Devatās

Rāśi and D-20

• Rāśi: lagna lord Jupiter is exalted in the 8th with Ketu. That by itself goes a long way.
• D-20 (lagna Scorpio): lagna lord Mars is in the 12th with 9th lord Moon and 8th lord Mercury. Jupiter and Venus form a good rāja yoga.
• Verdict: a reasonably spiritual person.

Exalted and debilitated planets in the 3rd/6th from Arudha Lagna

A student points out that in the rāśi chart Jupiter is in the 6th from Arudha Lagna, where benefics are not wanted. Is that reversed because he is exalted?

• Ketu with Jupiter in the 8th can be taken as a benefic for this purpose.
• A debilitated malefic in the 3rd or 6th from Arudha Lagna behaves as a benefic. A debilitated benefic there behaves as a malefic.
• Exaltation does not reverse anything. It makes the planet more of what he is.

"The thumb rule is, if a planet is debilitated in the 3rd or 6th from Arudha Lagna, you reverse his beneficence. You treat as though benefic is actually malefic and malefic is actually benefic. But if he is exalted, you do not do that."

• An exalted benefic is a nice person in a party mood: "You want this? Come, take it." Jupiter here is such a benefic in the 6th from Arudha Lagna, a very strong benefic who is nice to everybody.
• An exalted malefic wants to hurt you and is now powerful. "He won't even say I want to kill you, he will just come and kill you." The result of a malefic in the 3rd or 6th is accentuated.
• A debilitated malefic wants to hurt you but is weak and unhappy, and ends up not doing much. A debilitated benefic, unhappy, can misbehave.

Narayana daśā of D-20

• Running: Scorpio daśā, the lagna. Next: Sagittarius, which holds Sun, the 10th lord. After that: Aquarius, which holds Saturn and A8.
• Sagittarius is the 9th of the natural zodiac, dharma; Sun is the planet of dharma and here lord of the 10th, karma. That daśā gives karma yoga: helping at a temple (or a church), service in society, a prayer his father gives him.
• Serious sādhana comes in Aquarius daśā, after 2023.
• So no spiritual advice is needed now. "Let him be on his path, study well, be a good doctor, and establish his position in the society. His spiritual time will come later."

Navāṁśa — Ātmakāraka, Iṣṭa and Dharma devatā

• Moon is Ātmakāraka. In navāṁśa Moon is in Gemini and the navāṁśa lagna, Taurus, is the 12th from it. Lagna in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka shows some saintliness. The teacher has the same in his own navāṁśa.
• Mars in navāṁśa lagna: an athletic person. Ketu in the 5th: good at analytical subjects, mathematics. The students confirm he is good at maths.
• Iṣṭa devatā: Mars in Taurus, in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka. Kārtikeya. Not what he needs now.
• What he needs now is the Dharma devatā, because he has to study well, get into a good college and become a good doctor. The lord of the 9th from the Ātmakāraka is Saturn, placed in Sagittarius with Jupiter. Saturn stands for Viṣṇu; under Jupiter in Jupiter's sign it is a guru-like form of Viṣṇu. The teacher settles on Jagannātha, and says he would accept other valid answers.
• Advice: keep a small picture of Jagannātha, learn who Jagannātha is and what he stands for, and say a short prayer to him.

D-10 — Career, Left as Homework

• Some people study brilliantly and do not excel at work. The students' guess was teaching.
• D-10 (lagna Capricorn): 9th lord Mercury is in the 12th and 12th lord Jupiter is in the 9th. An exchange of the 9th and 12th. The 9th is fortune, the 12th is sacrifice. Not a combination for great wealth.
• Two benefics are involved, and lagna lord Saturn is with Jupiter.
• His guess: a good doctor who does not care much how much he earns. Instead of a high-paying hospital he may go somewhere far away and mix charitable work with his profession. Not the chart of someone very rich or very famous; the chart of someone who does good work and makes a sacrifice.
• His career will begin in Saturn daśā. Its prime falls in Mercury daśā, and Mercury is in the 12th house and in the 8th from Arudha Lagna in D-10.
• The class is asked to study the D-10 with these hints and make predictions.

Closing message for the boy: worship Jagannātha; he has a bright future and will be useful to society as a doctor; the next one year is bad for the father and for his own health, so do the remedies.
