PVNR's Own Chart — Sagittarius Narayana Dasha Antardasha Analysis
PVNR works through his own Sagittarius Narayana Dasha using the Dasha Pravesha Chakra (annual chart cast for the moment the dasha sign rises). Each antardasha analyzed: what the sign indicates, what planet is its lord, and where that lord is placed. Three principles of ND interpretation applied throughout: sign's house from lagna, planets in the sign, and the sign lord's placement. The Dasha Pravesha chart gives annual-level pinpointing within the Narayana Dasha.
"Narayana Dasha shows the events on the ground. It does not show the perception of the mind."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

Recap — The Three Principles of Narayana Dasha Interpretation
(Covered in Lesson 29; applied in this lesson.)
Principle 1 — Activation of Narayana in the Dasha House
The sign where the Narayana Dasha is running becomes activated. See:
- Which house that sign occupies in the natal chart
- Which planets are in that sign (their house lordships activate)
- Which planets are aspecting it All these results can manifest during that dasha period.
Principle 2 — Progressed Lagna
- If Narayana Dasha started from Lagna: take the dasha sign as the progressed Lagna. Read the natal chart from that new Lagna.
- If Narayana Dasha started from the 7th house: the 7th sign from the dasha sign becomes the progressed Lagna.
- Then read the natal chart as if that new sign were lagna — look at what house various signs fall in for 10th lord, 5th lord, etc. This gives the "flavor" of the entire dasha period.
Principle 3 — Dasha Pravesha Chakra (Entry Chart)
- Cast a chart for the exact date, time, and birthplace when a particular Narayana Dasha/Antardasha begins
- This is the most powerful and precise tool for judging individual antardashas
- PVNR: "Entry chart will shed light more clearly than the natal chart itself."
- Treat the Pravesha Chakra lagna as the reference for all antardasha analysis — do NOT use the dasha sign as lagna within this chart
PVNR's Own Chart — Sagittarius Narayana Dasha Example
Chart data: April 4, 1970, 5:47:13 PM IST, Machilipatnam (81°E08', 16°N10')
Starting Sign Determination
- Lagna = Virgo (empty)
- 7th house has one planet → 7th is stronger
- Narayana Dasha begins from 7th house (Pisces)
- Therefore: In Sagittarius Dasha, the progressed Lagna = 7th from Sagittarius = Gemini
Sagittarius Narayana Dasha Period
- Duration: April 4, 1985 to April 5, 1995 (10 years)
- Dasha Pravesha Chakra lagna (when dasha started): Cancer
- This Cancer lagna is the reference for all antardasha analysis within Sagittarius dasha
Sagittarius Antardasha (December 1986 – October 1987)
From natal chart (Gemini as progressed lagna):
- Sagittarius = 7th house from Gemini
- Jupiter (Sagittarius lord) is in the 5th house from Gemini = 5th house of recognition/abilities
- Expectation: recognition of abilities; doing well in competitive exams
From Dasha Pravesha Chakra (Cancer lagna):
- Cancer lagna Pravesha chart shows partial Jaya Yoga: 6th lord Jupiter is debilitated (Capricorn in 7th); 10th lord Mars is placed in a kendra
- Jaya Yoga gives: victory over enemies, success in competitive environments
- Sagittarius = 6th house from Cancer (dasha lagna); its lord Jupiter in Narayana's position = enemies' energies depressed
Actual event confirmed: May 1987 — PVNR was selected for IIT, stood state first in intermediate examinations in Andhra Pradesh. His father's confidence was so high he told him not to waste money applying for the state exam (EAMCET), just focus on IIT JEE alone.
Key lesson: When you see Jupiter in the 5th house during a dasha, and the person is a student appearing for exams — you can confidently tell them they will do well. This is actionable astrological advice.
Aquarius Antardasha (August 1988 – June 1989)
Common first impression (incorrect): "Aquarius is the 8th house from Cancer lagna — so this should be a bad antardasha."
Correct analysis:
- Aquarius has two lords: Saturn and Rahu
- Saturn: Is in the 5th house of the Dasha Pravesha Chakra; he is with Arudha Lagna; Arudha Lagna in 5th = excellent for recognition of image
- Rahu: Is in the 10th house; conjoined with Mars (10th house lord and Lagna lord of Cancer lagna) → in a Kendra with a kendra lord
Yogada check:
- Saturn is in the 5th house with Hora Lagna AND is aspecting Lagna
- A planet that associates with both Lagna and Hora Lagna (by own/occupy/aspect) = Yogada → gives power and success
- Conclusion: Saturn is Yogada in the Pravesha Chakra → excellent for studies and recognition
8th lord nature explained:
- 8th lord's agenda = make you work hard, not let you be idle
- If you are already studying and working hard, the 8th lord is satisfied
- He does NOT give trouble to someone already doing what 8th house wants (sustained effort)
- The "8th lord = anxiety" interpretation is only one facet — it can equally mean productive, focused, hard work
Actual event confirmed: During this antardasha (2nd year at IIT Madras, electronics engineering), PVNR jumped to first rank in class after an average first year. Saturn's placement at Arudha Lagna in the 5th confirmed: recognition of abilities, improvement in academic image.
Deeper principle: "A planet being the 8th lord does not make its antardasha bad. If the 8th lord is well placed in the Pravesha Chakra and you are working hard, it will make you work harder and reward you for it."
Taurus Antardasha (approximately 1991)
From progressed lagna (Gemini):
- Taurus = 12th house from Gemini = losses or displacement
But look at the lord:
- Venus (Taurus lord) is in the 11th house of gains
- Venus is also with 9th lord Saturn
- The 12th lord is in the 11th house → displacement that comes with gain
Additional factors:
- Taurus = Badhakasthana for Gemini lagna (for fixed signs, 9H is Badhaka; for movable, 11H is Badhaka; for dual = Gemini, Badhaka = 7H or 12H? Actually for dual signs, 7H is Badhaka. But PVNR treats Taurus as 12H from Gemini and mentions Badhaka from Pravesha Chakra context here)
- Venus (Badhaka lord) in 9th house = Badhaka lord exalted in dharma house
- Venus joins Mercury (12th lord) in the Pravesha Chakra's 9th house
- Three influences — Badhakasthana, 9th house (foreign travel), 12th house (displacement) — all combined in one house
Actual event confirmed: August 1991 — PVNR came to Rice University, Houston, USA on a fellowship of $1,050/month. He was NOT a teaching or research assistant — he simply received the fellowship. This is displacement (12th) but profitable (11th lord in 9th; fellowship income).
Key teaching: "12th house shows losses, but it can also show good losses — profitable displacement, settling abroad, or spiritual experiences. Do not automatically assume 12th is only negative."
Summary — Antardasha Judgment Hierarchy
When analyzing antardashas within Narayana Dasha:
- Primary tool: Dasha Pravesha Chakra — most reliable for individual antardasha results
- Supporting tool: Natal chart from progressed lagna — gives overall dasha period flavor
- Important rule: Within the Pravesha Chakra, use the Pravesha Chakra's own lagna as reference — NOT the dasha sign
