BPHS Ch.25 Complete — 2nd Lord in 10th (Scholar/No Children), 11th (All Gains/A2 in 5th = Wealthy Following) & 12th (Bold/Poverty/Jealousy)
2L in 10H: desires (4th Argala on 7H); honored/scholar (taking 10H as lagna, 5L in lagna = scholarship = social honor); wealthy; many spouses (2L Argala on 7H); BUT no happiness from children (10H = 6th from 5H = obstacles; A2 also in dusthana from 5H). 2L in 11H: all gains (11H = gains; 2L=wealth there = gainful person); always works hard (11H has 4th Argala on 8H = drives hard work); famous (11H Argala on lagna; aspects 5H; Argala on 10H). A2 when 2L in 11H: 10th from 11H = 8H; cannot be on 2/8 axis → 10th from 8H = 5H → A2 in 5H = "wealth creates following and admirers; like Warren Buffett whose investment followers are legion." 2L in 12H: bold (aspects 6H = person plays with obstacles); without money (12H = deprivation; lord of wealth in loss house); interested in others' fortune = Matsarya/jealousy — "12th = deprivation; jealousy = not having something + feeling bad that others have it; 12H is a key indicator of jealousy"; no comfort from eldest child (10th from 5H = 2nd; 8th from 5H = 12H → 2L is 8th from 5H; both lord and arudha in dusthana from children house). PVNR note: Parashara specifies jyeshtha (eldest child) here — normally rashi cannot distinguish eldest vs younger. 12H = not having things; those who don't accept deprivation become jealous; those who accept it may have renunciation instead.
"Jealousy is a case of you don't have something, somebody else has something, and you feel bad about it. 12th house is basically deprivation and losing. Someone who is deprived may look around and feel jealous of somebody who has it. So 12th house is a key indicator of jealousy."

BPHS Chapter 25 — 2nd Lord in Houses (Verses 22–24)
(Continuing from previous lessons. Verses 22–24 complete the chapter for 2nd lord placement.)
Verse 22 — 2nd Lord in 10th House
Sanskrit results:
- Kāmī — full of desires
- Māñī — respected and honored in society
- Pāṇḍitaha — scholar, learned person
- Bahudāra dhana yuktaha — many spouses + much wealth
- Kintu putra sukho jāta ha — BUT no happiness from children
Why the results make sense:
Kāmī (desires):
- The 10th house has 4th house Argala on the 7th house (10th is 4th from 7th)
- This planet drives the 7th house of relationships and desires
- As the 8th lord from the 7th house, it sits in the house of sukha (comfort) relative to 7th
- Creates influence on relationships → many desires + multiple relationships possible
Māñī (honored/respected) + Pāṇḍitaha (scholar):
- 2nd lord = wealth; 10th house = status in society
- Combination: respected as a wealthy, well-off person
- Taking 10th house as lagna: 5th lord is in lagna → scholarship and intelligence are the markers of his social honor
- "He has the honor and respect of a scholar in the society"
Bahudāra dhana (many spouses + wealth):
- 2nd lord's Argala on 7th → drives the marriage/relationship house → multiple spouses possible
- 2nd lord in 10th (status house) → wealthy person
Kintu putra sukho jāta ha (no happiness from children):
- 10th house is 6th from 5th (5th = children) → obstacles and hard work in the matter of children
- A2 (Arudha of 2nd) falls in 6th house from 5th house → not conducive for children
- Planet is in Dusthana position relative to 5th → "promising some problem with children"
- Caveat: does not definitively deny children; consult 5th house strength and Jupiter separately
- May manifest as: needing to do remedies/homas/temple visits to get children
Where does A2 (Dhanarudha) fall?
- 2nd lord in 10th → count 10th from 10th = 7th house; but Arudha cannot be in 1st or 7th → take 10th from 7th = 4th house
- Wait — exception: if falls on 2/8 axis → take 10th again
- Calculation: 10th from 10th = 7th; cannot be 7th (axis); 10th from 7th = 4th (exception check not triggered)
(Note: In the live example PVNR said A2 is in 6th house — this would vary depending on the specific chart being discussed.)
Verse 23 — 2nd Lord in 11th House
Sanskrit results:
- Sarvalābha samanvidaha — all kinds of gains/profits
- Sādhojjogajyāto — always working hard
- Keertimān jāyte naraha — famous, honored
Combined reading: Wealthy, gainful, famous, honorable — and always working hard
Why the results make sense:
Sarvalābha (all gains):
- 11th = house of gains; 2nd lord (wealth) placed there → "wealth lord in gains house" = wealthy and gainful person
Sādhojjogajyāto (always working hard):
- 11th house has 4th house Argala on 8th house (11th is 4th from 8th)
- 8th house = hard work, deep effort, transformation
- This Argala drives the 8th house → person always puts in effort
Keertimān (famous):
- 11th house has Argala on Lagna (11th = Argala on 1st) → drives the person's name and fame
- 11th house also aspects the 5th house of fame
- "There is Argala on the 10th house" — stature in society is driven by this planet
Where does A2 (Dhanarudha) fall?
- 2nd lord in 11th → 10th from 11th = 8th house; BUT cannot be in 2/8 axis → take 10th from 8th = 5th house
- A2 in 5th house = "Dhanarudha in 5th house of fame and following"
- The person's wealth creates a huge following of admirers — like Warren Buffett's followers who admire his investment judgment
- "5th house of fame and following has the Dhanarudha — the person's wealth may create lot of followers or admirers"
Verse 24 — 2nd Lord in 12th House
Sanskrit: Dhanese dvādasha bhavaste sahasi dhana varjitaha; parabhāgya ratastasya jyeṣṭha apatya sukham nāhi
Results:
- Sahasi — bold, adventurous
- Dhana varjitaha — without money, lacking wealth
- Parabhāgya rataha — interested in/thinking about others' fortune (jealous or envious)
- Jyeṣṭha apatya sukham nāhi — no comfort from the eldest child
Why the results make sense:
Sahasi (bold/adventurous):
- 2nd lord in 12th aspcts the 6th house (7th from 12th = 6th)
- 6th house = obstacles, enemies, challenges
- Planet in 12th aspects 6th → person likes to play with obstacles → adventurous, bold
Dhana varjitaha (without money):
- Lord of the house of money (2nd) is in 12th house of loss/giving up
- "Things in the 12th house — you don't have them"
- 12th house = deprivation of that thing → lord of wealth in loss house → not wealthy
Parabhāgya rataha (focused on others' fortune):
- 12th house = one facet is jealousy
- Why 12th house = jealousy: 12th = deprivation, not having something. "Jealousy is a case of you don't have something, somebody has something, and you feel bad about it."
- 12th shows losing/giving up/not having → when there is no acceptance of deprivation, it manifests as jealousy
- "Not everybody who does not have things has jealousy, but someone who is deprived may look for it and feel jealous of someone who has it"
Jyeṣṭha apatya sukham nāhi (no comfort from eldest child):
- 2nd lord in 12th = 8th house from 5th (5th = children)
- A2 is in 6th house from 5th
- "Both the lord and the Arudha are in Dusthana from 5th house — so there is some problem with children"
- Parashara specifies "eldest child" (jyeṣṭha) — PVNR notes that in Rashi we cannot normally distinguish eldest vs. younger
12th House = Jealousy — PVNR's Analysis:
— PVNR"12th house is basically deprivation and not having something or losing something or giving up something. And jealousy is an aspect of not having something. Not everybody who does not have things has jealousy, but somebody who is deprived of something may look for it and feel jealous of somebody who has it. So 12th house is a clue to jealousy."
