D2 Hora Chart — Kashinath Hora, House Meanings & Financial Narayana Dasha
D2 Hora chart: Kashinath Hora method vs common D2. The two Horas: Sun's Hora (odd degrees = Sun-quality energy, masculine) and Moon's Hora (even degrees = Moon-quality energy, feminine). D2 house meanings: 2H = accumulated wealth, 5H = speculative income, 11H = gains, 12H = losses. Arudha padas in D2: A2 = visible wealth; A11 = visible gains. Narayana Dasha applied to D2 for financial event timing: which dasha sign activates which financial house determines the type of financial period. Ghatika Lagna in D2 for power through money.
"In D-2, you are looking at wealth in its raw form — not the career that creates it, not the fame it brings, just the wealth itself and how it flows."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao

The D2 Hora Chart — Kashinath Hora vs. Common D2
The Two Competing Traditions
Standard (commonly taught) D2:
- Based on literal interpretation: Sun's hora = Leo, Moon's hora = Cancer
- All planets fall into only two signs (Leo or Cancer)
- Cannot be interpreted meaningfully — how can you read a chart where all planets are in just 2 signs?
Kashinath Hora (PVNR's tradition, per Sanjay Rath):
- Parashara actually said Sun owns one half of the zodiac and Moon owns the other
- The zodiac divides into two halves: daytime signs (rising in daytime) belong to Sun; nighttime signs belong to Moon
- This gives a full 12-sign chart where planets can be in different signs
- This is the correct interpretation according to PVNR's tradition
Why "Kashinath Hora"?
- The name "Hora" alone was ambiguous (two different D2 traditions)
- Sanjay Rath named it after his guru Kasinath Rath to distinguish it
- The technique itself is ancient (Parashara-based); only the name for distinction is Sanjay's contribution
- Note: This naming convention was necessary for clear academic communication, not a new invention
What D2 Actually Shows — Sampada, Not Just Money
- Common misconception: D2 = money chart
- Correct understanding: D2 = Sampada (resources of all kinds)
- Sampada = not just money; it is everything that enables you to accomplish things in the world:
- Money/wealth
- Speech as a resource
- Connections to influential people
- Access to authority and power
- Ability to get things done
- Example: N.T. Rama Rao (NTR), Indian film star/politician — in 1983, when he started the Telugu Desam party, Ghatika Lagna came in his D2 Narayana Dasha sign; he became Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1983. GL shows power and influence, not money per se.
- Being a CM gives access to power = "calling someone and getting things done" = that IS sampada
- Narayana Dasha is the best dasha for D2 — Vimshottari is not well-focused for Hora analysis
D2 Hora Chart — House Meanings
Every house in D2 Hora has a specific meaning from the angle of finances and resources:
| House | Meaning in D2 Hora |
|---|---|
| 1H | True self from financial perspective; who you are in financial terms |
| 2H | Resources at your command (wealth, connections, speech) |
| 3H | Initiative, enterprise, boldness in financial/resource matters |
| 4H | Direction, comfort, happiness in financial life |
| 5H | Earning ability; your ability to generate income |
| 6H | Wealth from service; obstacles in financial matters |
| 7H | Desires you have; interactions with others for financial purposes |
| 8H | Changes and ups/downs; risks and investments; unexpected gains/losses; gamblers have a strong 8H in D2 |
| 9H | Fortune and protection; the invisible hand of God in financial matters |
| 10H | Money-related activities in society (making OR spending for the world) |
| 11H | Gains that you make |
| 12H | Losses; letting money go; voluntarily giving (donations) OR involuntary loss |
Key notes:
- Strong 8H in D2 → person tends to gamble; they can happily take financial risks
- "Death" in D2 = financial death/ruin, NOT physical death; maraka planets in 8H = financial ruin
- 12H losses can be voluntary (donation, investment) or involuntary (actual loss); context determines which
- 12H in D24 (knowledge chart) = giving/sharing knowledge; different meaning from D2's 12H
D2 Arudha Padas — Meaning
Arudha padas in D2 show the tangible manifestations of the respective houses:
| Arudha Pada | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| AL (Arudha Lagna) | Overall financial image; how the world perceives your financial status and resourcefulness |
| A2 | Actual wealth; bank balance; what you materially possess |
| A3 | Actual enterprise or business venture (e.g., the company you started, the investment you made) |
| A4 | Indicator of comfort; tangible property |
| A5 | Event establishing your earning/financial ability (e.g., raising $20 billion for an acquisition — a tangible event the whole world sees) |
| A6 | Service you do for income; tangible service rendered |
| A7 | Tangible partnership or tangible partner (business partner, spouse in financial matters) |
| A8 | Actual risk taken; sudden/unexpected change in financial situation (up or down); the specific investment made in a struggling company |
| A9 | Events establishing your fortune; tangible proof of the invisible hand of God |
| A10 | Activities in society for making money (or spending for society) |
| A11 | Tangible profits made |
| UL (Upapada Lagna) | Tangible loss = money let go; investments, donations, or actual losses; the money that is rotated/invested |
Key UL Rule
- UL in D2 ≠ bad by itself — it shows money that is rotated/invested, not necessarily lost
- UL in trine from AL = world sees the person as a capable investor; investments look good to others
- UL in bad house from AL = world sees the investment/loss negatively
- A person with kaaresha in UL = always investing, never hoarding; always rotating money
Three Angles on Any House in D2
- House from Lagna = true self's quality (how resourceful I truly am)
- House from AL = perceived quality (how resourceful the world thinks I am)
- Arudha Pada of that house = tangible manifestation (the actual bank balance, the actual company)
