D-10 (Dasamsa) Analysis

D-10 Lagna: Virgo, with Mercury in it.

• True nature in his activities in society: an intelligent, thinking person. Mercury and Virgo are both very intelligent.
• 9th house (Taurus): Jupiter. A strong sense of dharma.
• 10th house (Gemini): Venus and Rahu.
  • Venus is the 9th lord. 9th lord in the 10th is a good combination: he brings dharma into his karma.
  • Rahu is the 6th lord (Aquarius) from Virgo. 6th = obstacles and enemies. In discharging his dharma he has many obstacles and enmities to overcome, and he may create many obstacles in the process.

The Image That the World Has

• Arudha Lagna of the Dasamsa is in the 10th, with Venus and Rahu.
• The Rasi Arudha is the overall image, held by people who know him well. The image the public has does not come from meeting him. It comes from the karma he did in society — from the Dasamsa.
• The same holds elsewhere: the image of a spiritual leader may come from his Vimsamsa; the image students have of a teacher comes mostly from his Siddhamsa (D-24).
• This image has no Jupiter in it. Venus and Rahu: very passionate, very stubborn, demon-like. "Rahu is a demon."

7th from Arudha Lagna — Who the Image Fights

• From Lagna the 7th is desire and the relationships that come with it. In the world of Satya two people interact and learn from each other.

"In the world of Maya, there is no cooperation and learning from each other. There is only fighting and exploitation. So the 7th from Arudha, more than showing the people you work with, shows the people that you fight with."

• 7th from AL = Sagittarius (the 4th house), with Moon and Ketu. Not obstacles, but people opposed to the image.
• Moon is with a bad enemy, eclipsed. Ketu owns the 3rd (Scorpio): the bold things he does, the initiative he takes, eclipse Moon and give a bad image.
• Ketu is the planet of burning things, reducing them to ashes. So the bad image comes from a strong initiative of a destructive nature.
• Moon dasha, 1973–1983: family-planning operations were forced on people; in North India whole villages. People hated him and saw a demon, like Rahu.
• A student: so the career is forcing people not to have children? The teacher: that is one aspect of it.

6th House — How He Overcomes Obstacles

• 6th and 7th are both empty. The 6th (Aquarius) is aspected.
• Sun, exalted in Aries in the 8th, has rasi drishti on the 6th. Rasi drishti is not a desire fulfilled at one time; it holds through life. His approach to obstacles is Sun's: authority. Tell people to do it and get it done.
• Each planet has its own approach to a problem:
  • Sun — a king's: get it done by others
  • Mars — go and fight
  • Jupiter — talk nicely, use intelligence
  • Ketu — give up, walk away, even if the thing is reduced to ashes
  • Rahu — be selfish, cling on
• Saturn, in Leo in the 12th, has graha drishti on the 6th, his own house. Graha drishti is fulfilled in particular periods. In Saturn antardasha (1977–79, when his mother was out of power) he would have worked hard himself rather than tell others.
  • This is less likely to show in Sun antardasha, because Sun has the alternate agenda; more likely in Moon antardasha.
• Sun dominates. Many people with political power still do things themselves. For him getting things done through others "is in his system".

Sun — Vipareeta Raja Yoga

• Sun is the 12th lord in the 8th: Vipareeta Raja Yoga.
• Sun dasha, 1967–1973: a sudden rise. Being Sun, unexpected political power.
• Sun is in the 11th from Arudha Lagna: gains. The political power works as a catalyst to the image.
• Sun aspects the 6th: if getting things done through people had not begun before, it surely does in this dasha.
