BPHS Ch.25 — 10th Lord in Houses 4–6: Focus on Mother/Property/Vehicles + Very Wealthy (4H), All-Round Scholar + Children Assist in Work (5H), Clever Fighter + Possible BPHS Textual Error for Wealth (6H) & 12th Lord in 3/6/8 = Viparita-Like Yoga
10L in 4H: happy (Kendra lord in Kendra = both houses strong); focuses on mother's wellbeing or works in real estate/vehicles/property (10L = "what I must accomplish"; 4H = mother, property, vehicles = "focus of life's work is in these matters"); virtuous social conduct (Argala on lagna = "honor in society through how one conducts oneself in 4H-domain"); very wealthy (from 2H, 10L = 9L aspecting 9H from 2H = "trine lord in Kendra from 2H = excellent; person buys vehicles, houses, land; tangible wealth"). 10L in 5H: all-round scholar (Kendra lord in trine = "10th lord agenda = social respect through scholarship; well-rounded, knowledgeable and puts it to work for society"); always happy (5H = emotional stability; 10L Argala on lagna = "well-balanced, optimistic, always positive"); wealthy (Argala on 2H from 5H; from 2H, 9L in 4H = trine lord in Kendra = excellent; real estate wealth possible); good children who assist in work (quadrant lord in 5H = "5H blessed; children helpful in person's work; 'So-and-So Sons & Co.' type arrangement"). 10L in 6H: clever (from 6H, 10L = 5L in 10H = Kendra from 6H = talent in dealing with obstacles; "plans ahead; always trying to win"); still troubled by enemies ("most work goes toward fighting obstacles"); no paternal happiness (complex: from father's relationship, 8L in 4H of Sukha = setbacks in comfort with father); PVNR on "devoid of wealth" result: "Mathematically from 2H, 9L = 5L in trine from 2H = trine lord in Kendra = wealth SHOULD be good; 'dhanaayi hina' doesn't add up. There may be a textual error in BPHS for this verse." 12L Viparita-like yoga general rule: "If the 12th lord of any house is in the 3rd, 6th, or 8th from that house = Viparita-like yoga for that house's matters. Things may have setbacks but eventually resolve positively."
"The 10th lord in 5th: the Kendra lord is in a trine — both houses are strong. The person is an all-round scholar whose knowledge is put to use for society. And the children assist in the person's work. That is the spirit of the result: not just having good children but having children who collaborate and help in the work — "So-and-So Sons & Company" is the archetype."

BPHS Chapter 25: 10th Lord in Houses 1–6
10th Lord in 1st House (Lagna)
Sanskrit results: Scholar; famous; wealthy; poet (lives/breathes work); sick in childhood, happy later; money grows day by day
Explanation:
- Scholar: From 5th house of scholarship, 10th lord is in the 9th house (Upachaya of 5th); scholarship grows; moreover, 10th = 6th from 5th = house of actually putting scholarship into use/debate; so not just a scholar but one who uses and applies knowledge in society
- Famous: 10th lord in lagna = direct presence in one of the houses of fame (5th, 10th, lagna); person who is known for his work/personality
- Wealthy: 10th lord protects the person's resources for doing his work in the world; a strong 10th lord compensates for a weak 2nd lord; person has "enough resources for all his work, whether money or otherwise"; also from 2nd house: he is 12th lord in lagna = uses/spends money but has enough
- Poet (Kavi): 10th lord in lagna = person whose work is embedded in their personality; they live and breathe their work; "poet" is an example of someone whose creative nature pervades their whole being; 10th lord has Argala on 3rd house = creative skills enter career
- Sick in childhood: From 2nd house (house of childhood/Balarishtas), 9th lord of protection is in 12th house = loss of protection in childhood
- Money grows daily: From 11th house as lagna, this planet is 12th lord in 3rd house = Viparita-like yoga for gains; 12th lord in 3/6/8 = viparita-style = "eventually things resolve positively"
— PVNRGeneral Rule: If the 12th lord of any house is in the 3rd, 6th, or 8th from that house, it creates a Viparita-like yoga for that house's matters — things may have setbacks but eventually work out
10th Lord in 2nd House
Sanskrit results: Wealthy; endowed with good qualities; respected by kings; charitable; happy family
Explanation:
- Wealthy: From 2nd house as lagna, 9th lord (protection/fortune for wealth) is in lagna itself — brilliant; person is genuinely wealthy, not just "resources for work"
- Good qualities (Guna): Not primarily dharma, but social grace and good manners; 10th lord (honor in society) has Argala on lagna; the way the person conducts himself commands respect in society; "somebody who knows how to hold a wine glass"; person is suave, smooth, honorable in conduct and speech
- Also: Being in 2nd house of speech, this planet gives smooth, honorable speech that maintains social standing
- Respected by kings: From 10th house as lagna, this planet is in 5th house = excellent Purvapunya with respect to 10th house of honor → honored by powerful people
- Charitable: From 12th house (giving), 10th lord is in 3rd house (Kama Trikona from 12th → initiative in giving); person has strong impulse to give; doesn't hesitate; "money flows out with ease"
- Happy family: 2nd house = family; that house is occupied by 9th lord → excellent family happiness; paternal/elder figures in family are supportive; extended family harmony
10th Lord in 3rd House
Sanskrit results: Happy with brothers and servants; brave; virtuous; eloquent; truthful
Explanation:
- Happy with brothers: 10th lord's agenda (work in society, honor) is placed in 3rd house of siblings → work and society-engagement happens together with siblings; "XYZ Brothers & Co." type of person; business or social work done along with siblings
- Happy with servants: From 6th house, 5th lord is in 10th → trine lord in Kendra = lucky with servants; servants do their work well
- Brave: 10th lord in 3rd = needs to take initiative to accomplish things; not spontaneous boldness but goal-driven action ("that needs to be done, so let me do it"); sudden ups and downs possible (from 3rd house as lagna, 8th lord in lagna)
- Virtuous: 10th lord in 3rd house aspects 9th house → dharma linked to karma; person has sense of dharma in all their conduct in society
- Eloquent: 3rd house of communication has 10th lord; from 2nd house of speech, this is 9th lord (fortune for speech) in 3rd (Bhavat Bhavam of speech); also Argala on 2nd house → excellent communicator, very articulate
- Truthful: 10th lord aspects 9th house from 3rd → truthfulness enters speech; same reasoning as virtuous
10th Lord in 4th House
Sanskrit results: Happy; interested in mother's wellbeing; owns vehicles/land/houses; virtuous; wealthy
Explanation:
- Happy: Quadrant lord in another Kendra = strong; 10th lord blesses 4th house and aspects 10th house = both are strong
- Interested in mother/vehicles/land: 10th lord = "what I must accomplish"; placed in 4th house of mother/property/vehicles = focus of life's work is in these matters; either works for mother's welfare or works in real estate, vehicle industry, etc.
- Virtuous: 10th lord in 4th has Argala on lagna; honor in society comes through the way one conducts oneself; "good qualities respected in social circles" — same as 2nd house (social grace) but this time from 4th (comfort, learning)
- Wealthy: From 2nd house of wealth, 9th lord of fortune is aspecting the 9th house (4th from 2nd) — excellent; person is very wealthy; buys vehicles, houses, lands — tangible wealth
10th Lord in 5th House
Sanskrit results: All kinds of learning; always happy; wealthy; blessed with children
Explanation:
- Scholar (all learning): Quadrant lord in trine = excellent; 5th house = scholarship; person is an excellent, well-rounded scholar whose knowledge is put to use for society (10th lord's agenda = social respect through scholarship)
- Always happy: 5th house = emotional stability; 10th lord there + Argala on lagna = person is well-balanced, optimistic, always positive
- Wealthy: 10th lord has Argala on 2nd house; from 2nd house, 9th lord is in 4th house (quadrant) = trine lord in Kendra = excellent for wealth; also Argala on 4th house from lagna = real estate wealth possible
- Good children: Quadrant lord in 5th = 5th house blessed; children are helpful in the person's work; "so-and-so Sons & Co." type of arrangement where children assist or collaborate in the parent's work
10th Lord in 6th House
Sanskrit results: No paternal happiness; clever; devoid of wealth (questionable — see note); troubled by enemies despite cleverness
Explanation:
- No paternal happiness: For interactions with father, see 3rd house (7th from father = outgoing with father); from 6th house, 3rd house = 10th house from 6th = 8th lord in the context of 4th house of Sukha; 8th lord in 4th shows big setbacks to comfort/sukha; thus interactions with father are uncomfortable
- Clever: From 6th house, 5th lord is in the 10th house (Kendra from 6th) = talent in dealing with obstacles; person is skilled at overcoming enemies; plans ahead; "always trying to win" in dealings
- Still troubled by enemies: Having to fight constantly; most of the person's work (10th lord) goes toward fighting obstacles
- "Devoid of wealth" — PVNR notes possible textual error: Mathematically, from 2nd house of wealth, 9th lord is in 5th (trine lord in Kendra = excellent); from 11th house, this is 8th house = 12th lord there (not bad); this result does not add up by PVNR's analysis; possibly a misprint in BPHS — the verse says "dhanair hina" but the math shows wealth should be possible
— PVNRPVNR note: "Quite honestly, that expression 'dhanaayir hina' doesn't make sense. There is something wrong there. It may be some other word missing instead. The thing is, even without other positive factors, 10th lord in 6th should not make someone a pauper. There may be some mistakes in the verses."
Chart Analysis: Lady (Oct 1, 1970, 1:20 PM → rectified 1:19:08, Narsapur)
Issue: Living in US for 12+ years; leaving for India in 2 days; worried about kids, in-laws, whether they will settle or be forced to return
Dasha Analysis
- Vimshottari only: No special dashas apply (no vargottama, no lagna lord in 7th, etc.)
- Jupiter Dasha (lagna lord in 11th): Good overall dasha; in inimical sign and afflicted by Mandi but still beneficial as lagna lord
- Mars Antardasha: 5th and 10th lords together in 9th house = Raj Yoga; good antardasha; from Jupiter, Mars is 5th lord (not bad)
- Why she goes to India in this period: In D4 (Chaturthamsha), Jupiter is in 5th house with 5th lord = 5th house in D4 = own country/motherland → Jupiter's agenda is to take her back to motherland
D4 House Significations (Residency/Homeland)
| D4 House | Signification |
|---|---|
| 1st | New beginning at current place of residence |
| 5th | Sense of belonging; return to motherland/roots |
| 9th | Faraway place; abroad |
| 12th | Foreign residence |
Time Rectification via D7 (Saptamsha)
- Original time 1:20 PM gave Gemini lagna in D7 — problems: Mercury and Saturn in trines only = not clearly showing 2 boys; 9th lord Moon in 8th house = Mankarkasthana = questioning even having children
- Rectified to 1:19:08 (−52 seconds) → Taurus lagna in D7
- First child from Capricorn: lord Saturn in Libra = exalted boy → first child BOY ✓
- Second child from Pisces: lord Jupiter debilitated (girl indicator) BUT Mars exalted there (boy indicator); 2 of 3 factors show boy → second child BOY ✓
- 3rd child: Ketu in Taurus → break; only 2 children makes sense ✓
Saptamsha Gender Determination Rules
For each child's sign in D7, check 3 factors:
- Sign itself: Odd sign = male, Even sign = female
- Lord's sign: Lord in odd sign = male, even = female
- Planets in the sign: Male planets (Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Rahu) = male; female (Moon, Venus, Ketu) = female
- Majority of 3 factors determines gender
Children's Prospects (D7 Analysis)
- First child (Saturn): Jupiter as current antardasha = 6th lord debilitated (6th lord debilitation = OK); Mars = 7th lord exalted = not bad; Saturn antardasha (coming ~2012) = 4th and 5th lord in lagna of D7 = excellent for studies
- Second child (Mars): Exalted Mars in lagna of D7; Rahu period = 3rd house from child's lagna = fine; Saturn period = lagna lord exalted in 10th = excellent
- Conclusion: "From 2012 to 2031 (Saturn Dasha), both children will do very well. No red flags for children."
Marriage Analysis (Navamsha)
- Mars = lagna lord in lagna of D9; Jupiter = 5th lord in 4th house
- Venus in 7th (7th lord strong); Mars in 9th (9th from 7th = protects marriage)
- Venus and Mars are not friends (aspect each other) but both strong → "some tension but both are happy"
- No 6th/8th house activation = no major marital strife; "this move will not disturb marital happiness"
Saturn's Transit and Long-Term
- Sade Sati running; Saturn transiting 12th from Moon = mental tension
- But Saturn = 2nd and 3rd lord with Viparita Yoga + Nidhana in natal chart → not a terrible planet for her
- Saturn transit approaching Mercury (10th lord) and Mars (5th lord) natal positions = may actually trigger Raj Yoga rather than destroy
- Bottom line: Move will work out; unlikely to return to US
Will She Come Back to US?
- D4 analysis: Rahu antardasha (coming after Mars) = 6th house from lagna in D4, 3rd from Jupiter → not strongly showing going abroad again
- Jupiter, even being Bhadaka lord, is in 5th house with 5th lord = motherland pull dominates
- "Chance of coming back to US is low"
Remedy
- Ishta Devata: Atmakaraka = Saturn; 12th from AK in Navamsha has Mars → Ishta Devata = Subramanya or Hanuman
- Hanuman is ideal choice:
- Hanuman controls Saturn (relieves Sade Sati problems)
- Mars is crucial planet in chart (5th lord; all negative Moon combinations have Mars link)
- Read Hanuman Chalisa every Saturday (for Saturn) + Tuesday
- Conclusion: "She has a good life but tense. Hanuman Chalisa will give her mental relief."
