Shadripu Mapped to D20 (Vimshamsha) Houses 7–12 — PVNR's Original Framework: Kama/Krodha/Lobha/Moha/Madha/Matsarya & Papapurusha in Subtle Body
PVNR's original intuition (not from any classic): the 6 Shadripus map to Vimshamsha (D20) houses 7-12, the visible half of the zodiac. Papapurusha = "evil entity" existing in the sukshma sharira (subtle body), located in the stomach area; generates all six enemies; operates in the visible/manifest world. Mapping: 7H = Kama (lust/desire; 7H = house of desires); 8H = Krodha (anger; classical 8H = short-tempered nature); 9H = Lobha (greed = specifically inability to do dharma/charity; NOT just wanting money; "wanting everything for yourself"; weakness in 9H of D20); 10H = Moha (delusion/false pride from accomplishments; over-identifying with work and achievements); 11H = Madha (wantonness = blatant pursuit of desires at any cost without regard for others; NOT alcoholism as mistranslated; like elephant in musth = culmination of Kama to extreme); 12H = Matsarya (jealousy/envy; 12H = deprivation; feeling deprived and envious of what others have). The order Kama-Krodha-Lobha-Moha-Madha-Matsarya in the classics exactly matches houses 7-12. "This is coming from my mind, not from any classic. I am fully convinced it is perfect knowledge even though not granted by any rishi — for all you know, a rishi gave me that inspiration." Invisible half (1-6) = the Shadripus in potential; visible half (7-12) = where they manifest in the world.
"Madha has been translated by some stupid translators as alcoholism. That is utter nonsense. Madha is wantonness — pursuing a desire to such an extent that you get it at any cost, without consideration of others. Like an elephant in musth. It is the culmination of Kama taken to its extreme."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Shadripu Mapped to D20 (Vimshamsha) Houses 7–12
PVNR's original framework (not from any classic — his own intuition; see caveat below):
The Papapurusha Concept
- Papapurusha = the "evil man" — not a literal being; exists in the sukshma sharira (subtle body)
- Located in the stomach area of the subtle body (not visible to physical senses)
- This entity generates all six Shadripus: Kāma, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Matsarya
- In Vimshamsha (D20) — the chart of spiritual progress and weaknesses — these six enemies manifest through the six houses 7–12
Why Houses 7–12 (The Visible Half)
- Lagna to 6th = invisible half of the chart
- 7th to 12th = visible half of the chart
- The Papapurusha operates in the visible, manifest world — hence the six weaknesses map to the visible half
The Six Mappings
| D20 House | Shadripu | Meaning | Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7th | Kāma (desire) | Lust, attachment to sensory pleasure | 7th = house of desires |
| 8th | Krodha (anger) | Short temper, wrath | Classical dictums associate 8th with short-tempered nature |
| 9th | Lobha (greed) | Inability to do charity or dharma; wanting to accumulate | 9th = dharma and charity; weakness here = not giving, hoarding |
| 10th | Moha (delusion) | False pride from accomplishments; ego of achievement | 10th = work, accomplishments; false pride comes from over-identifying with them |
| 11th | Madha (wantonness) | Blatant pursuit of desires at any cost, without regard for others | 11th = fulfillment of desires; Madha = taking that to an extreme |
| 12th | Matsarya (jealousy) | Feeling bad about what others have; envy | 12th = deprivation; feeling deprived and envious of what others have |
Important Clarification on Madha
— PVNR"Madha has been translated by some stupid translators as alcoholism. That is utter nonsense. Karma karmas, laws of karma, mada matsaryas are not any specific habits like cigarettes or alcoholism. These are actually internal subconscious weaknesses — instincts that are taking hold of your mind."
Correct meaning: Madha = wantonness (some dictionaries have this right)
- Like an elephant in musth (madhakajas) who pursues another elephant blatantly at any cost
- "Pursuing a desire to such an extent that you get it at any cost — a blatant pursuit of one's desires without any consideration of other factors"
- This is the culmination of Kāma taken to its extreme
Important Clarification on Lobha
- Lobha is NOT just "wanting money" in general
- Specifically: inability to do dharma/charity
- "You give big amount of money in charity to construct a temple, or somebody is suffering, you give money — those are seen from 9th house. Lobha is the lack of that. If there is any weakness in the 9th house, you are not able to do your dharma, you are not able to do charity, and you want everything for yourself."
The Ordering Confirmation
— PVNR"The order in which these Shadripus are mentioned in the classics — they say Kāma, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Matsarya — this is in the exact order of astrological houses (7th through 12th). This is very interesting."
PVNR's confidence:
— PVNR"Even though this is coming from my mind, not from any classic, I am fully convinced that this is perfect knowledge even though it is not granted by any rishi. For all you know, the inspiration I got at the moment when I conceived of this thought may have come from a Rishi also — you never know."
