PVNR's Pratyangira Warning: Weapon-Personified NOT Mother Deity — Use Chandi/Chamunda Instead; Prasna 3-Chart Method (D1=Present, D9=Past, D3=Future) & 5-Minute Sign Technique: Jupiter in Kendra from the 5-Minute Sign = the Teacher's Own Test That the Problem Is Solvable

Three things from the end of the class. First, the remedies given for the example chart, where a maraka Mars has defeated the lagna lord: Angaraka Kavacham, Angaraka Homam done to a time limit and not a count, the kavacham chanted after the pūrṇāhuti and never offered into the fire, a Tuesday fast, the Hanuman Chalisa in long sittings, and the teacher's point that an intense combination needs intense sādhana, not fifteen minutes a day. Second, his warning against Pratyangira homam: Pratyangira is a weapon personified, born to cool Narasimha, not a mother deity like Chandi; a homam done for a result is firing a gun almost nobody knows how to fire, so take the problem to Chandi, Narasimha or Chamunda instead. Third, prasna: D-1 for the present, D-9 for the past, D-3 for the future; the answer holds only if Jupiter influences lagna or lagna lord in the Rasi and the Navamsa lagna links to the person's chart; and the 5-minute sign within a hora, which the teacher used for a test of his own — Jupiter in a kendra from it.

Key principle

She is not like a regular mother like Chandi or Chamundi or Kali or Lakshmi or Saraswati. She is a weapon. If Pratyangira needs to be used for your problem, let Chandi do that for you.

Remedies for the Example Chart

The problem is the Venus–Mars combination, so the remedy has to involve them. Venus wants to help her; Mars is blocking him. Mars has to be satisfied.

"You have to kneel down before Mars and say, please leave her."

Grahas possess the mind. When a graha possesses the mind its qualities fill you and you cannot think straight.

How Intense It Has to Be

  • An earlier class had recommended Lakshmi Narasimha or Valli Subramanya: Mars shows Subramanya or Narasimha, and Venus so close to him shows the deity with his consort. Mercury has argala on the pair, so a Vishnu form is fine. A good recommendation.
  • But the combination is intense: lagna lord in the 8th, with a māraka who is his enemy, eleven arc minutes away, and defeated. Mars is in Sarpa ṣaṣṭyaṁśa as well.

"Intense problem will not be solved if you just think of God for 5 minutes or 15 minutes every day."

  • What would solve it: somebody takes up her cause and sits from sunrise to sunset for 48 days in one place, with breaks only to eat, chanting a mantra of Narasimha (any mantra; even the bīja alone) or of Valli Subramanya, with the mind on her.
  • "Unrealistic problems will have unrealistic solutions." If that is not possible, do what is realistic — two hours a day — and the problem is solved in realistic time.

On tantric homams (a student's question):

  • Nothing comes free. If a tantric ritual works, the person doing it had accumulated śakti earlier and is spending it. It is not the ritual that does it.
  • For one who has that link with a deity or mantra, a thought is enough.
  • Very few people today can solve a problem like this by a ritual. Those who can are conscientious and do not show off. They act to clear a ṛṇa, or because they see merit in freeing the person.
  • If you can find such a person, good. If not, sit and put in the hours yourself.

What the Teacher Settles On

After a prasna (Part 5) showed Mars still afflicting the lagna lord, the teacher sets the Lakshmi Narasimha suggestion aside and goes to the planet directly.

Angaraka Kavacham

  • Lagna and lagna lord are afflicted, so a protective shield is needed around her.
  • Read it in her name for an hour or two a day, and in every bit of non-essential time.

Angaraka Homam

  • Most remedies work far better done in fire. Homam is the fast track for fiery planets, and Mars is one.
  • Daily, or every Tuesday, in her name, as often as possible.
  • Mantra: the Veda mantra "Agnir mūrdhā divaḥ kakut patiḥ…", or, for one who cannot use a Veda mantra, the purāṇa mantra "Dharaṇī-garbha-sambhūtam…".
  • A student asked about doing it once with a count of 7,000. The count Parashara gives is in lakhs, not thousands. Do it regularly on a small count instead.
  • Set a time, not a count. Half an hour or one hour a day; if that is 100 repetitions, then 100. Priests with a count to finish rush the mantra, and then nothing happens. Because of this insincerity rituals do not work and people have lost belief in them.
  • After the pūrṇāhuti sit there and chant the Angaraka Kavacham, while the fire lasts and even after it goes out. Kavachas are chanted; they are not offered into the fire.
  • Whoever does it must be sincere and must undergo some struggle in the sādhana. Once the threshold is crossed the result comes.

Fasting on Tuesday

  • A student proposed fasting. Which planet? Mars, not Venus — so Tuesday rather than Friday, sunrise to sunset.
  • Putting niyamas on yourself and keeping them is itself Martian. To satisfy Mars you have to show a Martian quality. Mars has put his stamp on the person; sādhana moves it from one area of life to another, like asking a guest sitting in the wrong place to move.

Hanuman Chalisa

  • She is a Hanuman devotee and cannot do kavachams. A student had asked her to read the Chalisa. The teacher: it is not less than the kavachams.
  • But once or ten times is not long sādhana. 54 times a day takes about two hours; 108 times, three and a half to four. Kept up for 108 days it will give a result.

Several people can do several things. "At the end the mountain can be moved."

Gems

  • Diamond for the defeated Venus (a student's suggestion, accepted): on the ring finger of the right hand, put on on a Friday.
  • Blue sapphire is fine for her. Diamond and blue sapphire together are not a bad idea: Venus and Saturn, about 11° apart, form a rāja yoga of the lagna lord with the 4th and 5th lord.
  • Red coral: absolutely avoid.

The Sun

  • A student: in depression, association and contact with people help. The Sun is exalted in the 7th and is the 11th lord of friends and gains.
  • The teacher: the Sun is an exalted bādhaka lord, but propitiating him is not bad. If it brings her new friends, it can help. The 7th is the key house for marriage in general, and the Sun aspects lagna.

The teacher's closing list: Angaraka Homam, Narasimha, Subramanya, Hanuman Chalisa, the Tuesday fast.

Warning — Stay Away from Pratyangira Homam

A student raised Pratyangira homam, which some people suggest for relief from Mars.

What Pratyangira Is

  • Roughly Nārasiṁhī — the śakti of Narasimha, a lion-faced goddess. Her homam is popular in parts of South India, especially for Martian problems.
  • She is an astra devatā: the personification of a weapon. That weapon was used once, to cool Narasimha when he was extremely agitated.
  • Chandi is a devatā, a mother, a form of the Divine Mother who gives the sādhaka certain qualities. Pratyangira is not that.

"She is not like a regular mother like Chandi or Chamundi or Kali or Lakshmi or Saraswati. She is a different person. She is a weapon. Stay away."

  • She was useful to Narasimha. "She is not somebody meant for you and me."

The Gun at Home

  • Think of whichever form you take as Mother — Mahalakshmi, Mahakali, Mahasaraswati, Chandi, Lalita. Pratyangira is a gun the Mother once used.
  • The gun is kept at home, and once a month or once a year you may wipe it and put it back. That is the Pratyangira homam some temples do on one day of the year, with ordinary materials and the Pratyangira mantras from Veda and Tantra, for no result, only for the Mother's happiness. That is acceptable.
  • A homam done for a result is shooting the gun. You had better know how to shoot it. Very few people do.
  • People who throw chillies and peppers of every colour into the fire and believe that Mars will be pleased, enemies destroyed and peace obtained are fooling themselves. It is needless karma, mostly for those who perform it and make the claims.

Why the Teacher Puts His Foot Down

  • A student: what if the person doing it really does know how? The teacher: that claim cannot be authenticated, and almost nobody does. Usually he is taking money and doing something.
  • "I in general do not discourage people from any homam, but this homam I discourage."
  • Being innocent and merely standing by does not keep you safe. It is like standing next to a man who says he will detonate a nuclear weapon and aim it somewhere.
    • 99%: he has no clue. Impressive materials, a big fire, and nothing happens.
    • 1%: he has some clue but not the full understanding. There is an explosion, and he or you are harmed.
    • What you wanted is unlikely to happen either way.
  • Perhaps a handful of people in the world know it. If you are meant to meet one, it will happen by itself; you need not go looking.
  • Vidyās like Balā, Atibalā and Mahābalā (based on Gāyatrī) are in the same class. Almost nobody knows how to use them today, and it is for a reason that they have been corrupted.

What to Do Instead

  • If you want an ugra devatā, do Chandi homam. "Chandi is fiery enough."
  • Go and complain to your Mother. A tāmasic person says "he is an idiot, kill him". A sāttvic person says "Mother, he troubles me, I cannot do my work". Whatever the attitude, she gives what your pūrva puṇya and her plan for you allow.

"If Pratyangira needs to be used for your problem, let Chandi do that for you. Let Kali do it for you. Don't directly approach Pratyangira."

  • To pacify Mars through an ugra devatā: Narasimha or Chandi. For a Mars–Saturn combination, Chamunda — Chandi homam, or the Chamunda mantra in place of the Saptaśatī.
  • For the example chart: no Pratyangira homam. Propitiate Mars in the simple ways of Part 3.

Prasna Notes

The teacher cast a prasna on the native's case the day before the class and read it in passing. No time is given for it.

Three Charts, Three Times

"D3 is future, D9 is past, D1 is current."

ChartReading
D-1 (Rasi)The present
D-9 (Navamsa)The past
D-3 (Drekkana)The future

Will the prasna give an answer?

  • In the prasna Navamsa, the lagna must show some link with the chart of the person asked about.
  • In the prasna Rasi, lagna or lagna lord must have a link with Jupiter: Jupiter in lagna, aspecting lagna, with the lagna lord, or aspecting the lagna lord. Graha dṛṣṭi, rāśi dṛṣṭi and the rest all count.
  • A student asked whether Jupiter must be in a kendra. No. Any influence of Jupiter on lagna or its lord is enough to proceed.

This Prasna

  • Rasi: the lagna lord Rahu is with Jupiter. So an answer can be had.
  • Navamsa: the lagna is owned by Mars, has Mars, and is aspected by Venus. The native's lagna is a Venusian sign and her lagna lord is with Mars. The link is there.
  • Drekkana (the future):
    • The 7th house of marriage has the Sun in his own house, aspected by Venus. There will be marriage.
    • Venus, the yogakāraka, is in lagna with the Moon. Moon is the 6th lord, but Moon–Venus is an auspicious combination. Mental tensions will come to an end before long.
    • The lagna lord Saturn is in the 3rd in debility with Mercury, and Mercury is in parivartana with Mars. The lagna lord is afflicted by a strong Mars. For clear thinking the problem is still Mars — so Mars has to be propitiated.

The 5-Minute Sign — the Teacher's Own Prasna

  • Each hora is divided into twelve parts of five minutes. Each part is a sign.
  • Start from the sign owned by the hora lord and go zodiacally. The hora recurs by day and by night: start from the planet's day-strong sign or night-strong sign accordingly. For the Moon (and for the Sun) the pair is Cancer and Leo.
  • Jagannatha Hora shows the 5-minute sign next to the hora.
  • The teacher set his own condition beforehand: if my answer will be useful to her and she will come out of her problems soon, let Jupiter be in a kendra from the 5-minute sign.
  • At that moment the Moon's hora was running, the 5-minute sign was Libra, and Jupiter was in the 4th from it.
  • "It was just my criteria." It is a sign he asked for, not a general rule.
  • His feeling from both prasnas: her problems may end within the next year or so.
