Prasna Is Faith More Than Science

• There are tens of approaches to prasna, and people get answers through all of them. That shows prasna is subjective — more divination than science.
• Pick one set of rules, dedicate yourself to it, and ask God to answer through it.
• A natal or Tithi Pravesha rule is different. Example: 7th lord and lagna lord together and strong, one linked to the Hora Lord → marriage that year. The charts that show it will be significantly more than random chance. A prasna rule tried by someone with no faith in it may or may not work.

"You dedicate yourself to one approach and say, this is how I will look for answers to the questions, please help me God. If God wants to help you, he will show you answers through that scheme."

The Three Number Modes

A number can be taken from the querent and a prasna lagna (shown as "PLag") fixed from it. The software can replace the rising lagna with it or show it as a separate body. In the example above the teacher used the lagna rising at the time, not a number.

108 example: number 67 = 7 × 9 + 4 → seven rasis (Aries to Libra) passed, 4th navamsa of Scorpio. Scorpio's navamsas start at Vishakha 4th pada, so the 4th is Anuradha 3rd pada: Scorpio in Rasi, Libra in Navamsa.

KP usage: for ten questions Krishnamurti would not go lagna, Moon, Jupiter and so on. He asked a fresh number for each question.

How the 1800 nadis arise: go along the zodiac; wherever any one of the 16 divisional charts changes sign, a new nadi begins. Within one nadi all Shodasavarga positions are fixed. The portions are unequal. There are exactly 150 in each rasi, 1800 in all. Number 1029 is the 107th nadi of Sagittarius. The middle of the nadi is taken, and every divisional chart can then be judged like a natal chart.

• The reasoning: 67 in the 108 mode picks a navamsa but not its beginning, middle or end, so the higher divisions are not chosen by the querent. "If God answers through those, He will answer through the complete Nadi also."
• A student asked whether the Jupiter test for a genuine prasna still applies with a number lagna. Yes, you can still do the same thing.

Krishnamurti

• "I am not a big fan of Krishnamurti", and the teacher does not know his system well. But he is held to be the most successful prasna astrologer of the last 100 years.
• Perhaps because of something scientific in his method, perhaps because he was a great worshipper of Ucchishta Ganapati.
• He would ask a prasna on when the bus would come, or when the electricity would come back, and sometimes predict it to the minute.
• He taught clear rules. But the sub is a questionable concept — no rishi taught it, as far as we know. "You never know what is questionable and what is genuine."

Prasna Marga

• "An unbelievably authentic source of prasna."
• To have your own rule of divination from your own relationship with God is one thing. To set rules that others can take up as a science is another. The Nambudiri who wrote Prasna Marga was an elevated soul with the power to set rules for the world for a few centuries.
• Dr. B.V. Raman's translation gives the Sanskrit verses and the English, and is reliable.
• It is a relatively recent text, so it is more direct than BPHS. Rishis are sometimes indirect.

September 9, 2009 (9-9-09) — No Astrological Significance

A student asked whether the 9-9-09 date has any significance.

• This is an arbitrary man-made division of time. Why should the year start with January? Why should September have 30 days and August and October 31?
• If August had 30 days, what is called September 9 would carry a different date.
• Take the Indian system — solar or lunar, nakshatra-based or tithi-based — and there is structure and logic.
• "It means nothing, if you ask me." No significance in 9-9-9, 10-10-10 or 11-11-11.

2012: if there is a problem that year it will be from something else, not because 12-12-12 came. The transits in December 2012, a little later than the 12th, before Christmas, do have interesting planetary combinations.
