Annual Tithi Pravesha (TP) — Bandhana Sahama Analysis

The native is fighting a court case. Will he go to jail? The teacher reads three annual TP charts. In each: find the Hora Lord (ruler of the year), see his link with the 12th house and 12th lord, and see where the Bandhana Sahama is and what its lord is doing.

TP 2004–2005: No Strong Connection

• TP lagna Sagittarius. Hora Lord Mars shows the main events of the year.
• Mars is in the 9th house of dharma (Leo) with the 9th lord Sun and 7th lord Mercury. The 9th is protection.
• Mars is the 5th lord. A student points out that he is also the 12th lord. The teacher: good point.
• Bandhana Sahama is at the end of Capricorn. Its lord Saturn has nothing strong to do with the 12th lord or the 12th house — at most an aspect.
• No imprisonment shown for this year.

TP 2005–2006: Mixed

• TP lagna Leo (August 2005 to August 2006). Hora Lord Saturn, lord of the 6th and 7th, is in the 12th house.
• Saturn is in parivartana with the Moon: an exchange between the 7th lord and the 12th lord. Saturn behaves as if he were the Moon — the 12th lord in the 12th.
• Bandhana Sahama is at about 27° Pisces. Rahu is at 22° Pisces, close to it, in the 8th house.
• Verdict: mixed. There could be some problem, but he may come out of it.

TP 2006–2007: Complete Connection

• TP lagna Virgo. Hora Lord Mercury is the lagna lord and 10th lord, and sits in the 12th house (Leo).
• With him: Venus, the 9th lord and a friend — lagna lord with 9th lord is a good combination by itself.
• But Sun, the 12th lord, is in the 12th house with them, and he is the strong one there.
• Bandhana Sahama is in Taurus, so Venus is the Bandhana Sahama lord.
• So the 12th lord and the Bandhana Sahama lord are together in the 12th house, afflicting the lagna lord, who is also the ruler of the year. The connection is complete.

Comparison With Swami Jayendra Saraswati

• Seen a couple of months earlier in class: he also had Virgo lagna with Mercury in the 12th house, with two other planets (the teacher recalls Mars and Jupiter). One of those planets gave the imprisonment in its dasha.
• There the lagna lord was in the 12th but the 12th lord was not; it was the 8th lord and the badhaka lord. Here the 12th lord himself and the Bandhana Sahama lord are there. This one is more potent.

Which Planet, Which Period

• The teacher's conclusion: a very, very strong chance of prison in the 2006–2007 year.
• Which of the three planets gives it? By honest first guess, Sun.
• But arrange the planets in a house in order of beneficence: Venus (most benefic), Mercury, Sun. The planets at the two ends exchange their results; the one in the middle gives his own. So the Sun's result is likely to be given by Venus.
• The rule is not infallible. It could come in the Sun's dasha as soon as the year starts, and Venus as Bandhana Sahama lord can give it in his own right.
• The likely periods of that TP year: Sun dasha at the start of the year, Mercury dasha (November 25, 2006 – January 20, 2007) and Venus dasha (June 3 – August 10, 2007).

Annual Chart or Natal Chart?

• The annual chart shows that imprisonment stands out in a year. It cannot show when he comes out: you cannot go through the annual charts of the next twenty years.
• TP charts are for the short term — two or three years.
• A student asks about open-ended questions such as "when will she marry". The teacher: if a girl is 24 and the family is already looking, it is likely within three years, so you can verify quickly with the annual charts of those three years. If you are not sure the event has a good chance in the next few years, go to the natal chart and its dasha.

After the class: he was acquitted in June 2005 and was not imprisoned. He died on June 25, 2009.

Which Dasha Applies

The teacher runs through the conditional dashas first:

None of the rare conditional dashas applies. Use Vimshottari.

Mercury Dasha (running all these years)

• In the D-10 Mercury is in the lagna, and from the AL he is in the 5th house. Any planet in the 5th or 9th from AL makes the person look very capable and gives him a following.
• Lordship is seen from lagna only, not from AL. Mercury is the 2nd and 11th lord: resources and voice, and gains. In this dasha he looks resourceful and sounds like a man with a great voice.
• 5th from AL raises the image. 9th from AL keeps and protects it — even through a controversy or a scandal.

"Rasi is finally physically what you are doing. Are you driving in a Benz car? Are you driving on a bicycle?"

• Raja Yogas in the dasamsa mean great professional environments. What physically manifests is seen from the Rasi.
• In the Rasi: Mercury and Sun are together in a kendra (Leo, the 4th). Sun owns the 4th, Mercury the 5th. 4th and 5th lords together = a Raja Yoga that gives the blessings of Vishnu. Because of it Mercury dasha is a good dasha.

Ketu Dasha (from February 2006)

• Ketu dasha starts on February 28, 2006 and runs to 2013.
• Ketu is in the 12th house with the 12th lord Mars.
• 12th lord alone in the 12th is good — it is a yoga (Vimala).
• If the 12th lord there is involved with another planet, that is a problem. The 12th gives heavy expenses and losses, constant hospitalisation, or imprisonment. Some kind of giving up: of identity, of what is important to you, going far away, losing what you have.
• Here two rank malefics, Mars and Ketu, are in the 12th. Not a great dasha.
• Can Ketu in the 12th give spirituality? It can, but it does not make everybody spiritual. That has to be checked in the Vimsamsa (D-20). A period of looking back at his life is likely.

Ghatika Lagna in the 12th

• Ghatika Lagna shows power, fame, being known. It is in the 12th house, with Ketu right there. Mercury is in the 5th from it.
• So the imprisonment will be famous news, covered widely in the media.
• The teacher recalls a mailing-list puzzle chart he and one other person had identified as a serial killer: a strong combination in the 12th with Ghatika Lagna there. An ordinary man while he committed the murders; a celebrity once jailed.

"If you see Ghatika Lagna associated with planets in the 12th house or planets having to do with the 12th house, there will be celebrities in prison."

The Teacher's Prediction

• He will go to jail some time in 2006, and for about six years there is no promise of coming out: "something like 4 to 7 years". Ketu dasha is hopeless as far as coming out is concerned.
• Venus dasha from 2013 is very good: Venus is the lagna lord in the Rasi, well placed in the 3rd house, and in the dasamsa he is the one giving the Raja Yoga.
• "There will be a new Michael Jackson." A changed person, still very popular, more albums. The best of his career may come after prison.

D-20: Is He Spiritual?

• The 5th house of devotion is empty. 5th lord Mercury is in the 12th house, the 8th from the 5th: either no devotion, or devotion that goes through many ups and downs.
• 9th lord Venus is in the 7th house with the Sun: a strong spiritual desire.
• A5 is also in the 7th: some mantra or chanting he may take up when Venus or Sun dasha comes.
• No special yogas. A normal person: strong desire, no clear path or direction.
• Venus is the 4th and 9th lord of the D-20, the lagna lord Saturn is in Venus's sign, and Venus is in the 7th. Venus dasha from 2013 will be interesting on this count too.
• Caveat from the teacher: he has not verified the Vimsamsa lagna of this chart. "Let's actually leave it, because we may be just making random conclusions."

Narayana Dasha — Rasi Chart Analysis

The three principles, as the teacher restates them:

1. See what Narayana is activating: the dasha sign itself, the planets in it, the houses they own.
2. Take the progressed lagna and analyse the natal Rasi from it.
3. For antardashas, go to the entry chart of the dasha.

Cancer Dasha (to August 2005) — 1st Principle

• Narayana is in Cancer, the 3rd house, which holds Venus.
• Venus is the 1st and 6th lord. 1st: existence, health, character, wisdom. 6th: hard work, difficulties and overcoming them, quarrels, litigation, enmity, rivalry.
• The 6th house is very strong here: Jupiter and Rahu are in it — Guru Chandala Yoga.
• Broad reading: litigation, some boldness and initiative, and something relating to health.

Guru Chandala Yoga by House

Wherever Jupiter and Rahu are together there is one big problem in life relating to that house:

• 7th house: marriage may be fine for a long time, then one really big problem.
• 9th house: big misfortune relating to father; he may pass away before the birth.
• 6th house: when the right dashas come, a big litigation.
• Lagna: serious health trouble, or a problem in the development of the intelligence. Lagna is the seed from which everything is derived.

A Student's Own Chart: Jupiter, Rahu, Sun and Mercury in Taurus Lagna

• Sun and Mercury are the saving grace: 4th and 5th lords together, the blessings of Vishnu. There can still be one big health issue in life when Rahu dasha comes or they are activated.
• The elders' remedy: if Rahu afflicts the Sun, pray to Jupiter. If Rahu afflicts Jupiter, pray to the Sun.

"If the priest is being troubled by a villain, you invoke the king to come and help. If the king is being troubled by a rogue, you call the priest so that he gives good advice."

• If Sun and Jupiter are both with Rahu, the purity of the priest and the valour of the king are already together. That is better than Jupiter alone with Rahu or Sun alone with Rahu.

Cancer Dasha — 2nd Principle: Progressed Lagna Capricorn

• The dasha sequence began from the 7th house (Scorpio): the lagna is empty and the 7th holds a planet. So the progressed lagna is the 7th from the dasha sign: for Cancer, Capricorn.
• 10th from Capricorn (Libra) holds Jupiter and Rahu: karma and career are spoiled in this period.
• 8th from Capricorn (Leo) holds the 8th lord Sun with Mercury, lord of the 6th and 9th. 6th and 8th lords in the 8th = Viparita Raja Yoga: a lot of anxiety and frustration, finally overcome.
• But Mercury is also the 9th lord, placed in the 12th from the 9th. Protection is withdrawn. The 9th is also the house of luck: he runs out of luck.
• 4th from Capricorn (Aries) holds Mars and Ketu. Mars alone would have been acceptable. The two are both aggressive — Ketu is Rudra-svarupa, Mars the son of Rudra — and there is a tug of war.
  • A student reads Ketu as the 11th lord. The teacher corrects the method: to see what a planet does to a house, take that house as lagna. From the 4th, Ketu owns the 8th: he wants to break sukha. By nature too he burns the house he sits in.
  • Mars owns the 4th itself (and is strong in Aries): he wants to give sukha.
• The 4th is comforts, peace of mind, mother, education, vehicles. Here it is peace of mind that goes. In another chart the same combination from the dasha lagna could be the mother's death, a break in education, or a vehicle accident.
• Overall: frustration, anxiety, worry, luck running out.

Antardashas — 3rd Principle

• The entry chart of Cancer dasha has Capricorn rising.
• Sagittarius antardasha (October 29 – March 27) is the 12th house of the entry chart, with Ketu in it: detachment, going through the motions, a sense of loss, self-reflection. Its lord Jupiter is with the lagna lord Saturn — the 12th lord afflicting the lagna lord.
• Next antardasha, Capricorn — the entry lagna itself — has its lord in a trine from it. The teacher expects no big problem in those five months; things may go smoother than expected.
• The trouble he sees is in 2005 and mostly 2006, after appeals.

Bhoga

A student asks about bhoga. The teacher: forget bhoga in Narayana Dasha for now. It can be used, but slightly differently. Use it only in Vimshottari.

Leo Dasha (2005 – August 2017) — 1st Principle

Take the dasha sign itself, whether the dashas began from the lagna or the 7th: that is where Narayana is.

• Narayana energises Mercury and Sun (2nd, 5th and 4th lords): the Raja Yoga. There will be a lot of following and huge support.
• He energises A8: big trouble, hardship.
• He energises the 4th house from lagna. The root meaning of the 4th is direction: peace comes from having direction; mother gives direction when you are young; education gives direction to the intellect. Whatever happens to him, he finds the right direction in this dasha. "This will be the most important period in life."
• He energises the 12th from Arudha Lagna: a fall in status.
• The teacher notes the curiosity: Ketu's Vimshottari dasha, with imprisonment expected, starts a few months into a Narayana Dasha that activates a Raja Yoga.

Leo Dasha — 2nd Principle: Progressed Lagna Aquarius

• 9th from Aquarius (Libra, with Jupiter and Rahu) is destroyed. No protection.
• 7th from Aquarius (Leo) holds the 7th lord Sun and the 8th lord Mercury, with A8.
• The 8th lord's agenda is to give longevity; the 7th lord's is to take it away. The two together are not good, worse when it happens in the 7th or the 8th itself. Even without A8 this shows death can come in the dasha.
• The teacher: there is a very strong chance he passes away before August 2017. Narayana Dasha is not the best dasha for timing death — Shoola Dasha and others are — but it gives the indication.
