D-12 and D-9 — How to Read Relations in Divisional Charts

A clarification rule on which method to use for seeing what happens to a relative:

Example: To see what happens to your spouse, take the 7H of Navamsa as the spouse's lagna and read the D9 chart from that starting point.

D-6 (Shashtamsa) — Root Cause of Disease

The Three-Level Disease Framework

PVNR presents a profound framework for understanding disease at multiple levels:

Level 1 — Rasi Chart (D1): Shows WHAT diseases physically manifest. Look at 6H (disease) and 8H (chronic problems) in the Rasi chart. This tells you the end result you see.

Level 2 — Shashtamsa (D6): Shows the physical root cause — which of the seven body tissues (Saptadhatus) is weak. This is one level deeper: why does the disease manifest?

Level 3 — Trimshamsa (D30): Shows the subconscious root cause — which of the Shadripus (six inner enemies) is driving the weakness. This is the deepest level: what internal psychological/subconscious force is creating the tissue weakness?

D1 vs D6 vs D30

• D6 shows root cause at PHYSICAL level
• D30 operates at the subconscious plane (25-36 = subconscious; 13-24 = mental; 1-12 = physical)
• "D30 is the basic root cause of all your disease at the subconscious level. That manifests in the physical level through D6. And finally, Rasi shows what you suffer physically because of all these weaknesses."

D6 Analysis for Subbalakshmi

In her D6 (Shashtamsa):

• 6H is occupied by Venus (who is the badhakesha = 11L in D6, the house lord that creates obstacles)
• Jupiter (6L in D6) is aspecting his own 6H
• Two negative planets associated with 6H: Venus (badhaka lord) + Jupiter (6L)
• Jupiter → diabetes (Jupiter = fat, Jupiter = the planet of sweetness; Jupiter 6L in D6 = disease involving fat and sweets)
  • PVNR himself has Jupiter in the 6th and has diabetes
  • She is also known to have had diabetes — confirmed by the chart
• Venus → kidney problems or uterine problems (Venus represents kidneys and the reproductive system/urinary tract)

PVNR notes: "For all you know, there may be some problems with the kidney which are behind her diabetes." — suggesting the diseases are interconnected, which Ayurveda understands better than Western medicine.

When D6 Planets Show Disease

• The planets must be associated with 6H AND/OR 8H in D6 to show disease potential
• Just having Mars in D6 alone is not enough — Mars must be connected to 6H or 8H in D6

Planet-Tissue (Saptadhatu) Correspondences

Each planet in Jyotish corresponds to one of the seven body tissues (Saptadhatus):

The Rahu/Ketu principle: Rahu and Ketu are not real physical planets — they are mathematical shadow points. They don't build anything; they only deplete and burn. If Rahu or Ketu are with Saturn in D6, muscles become depleted/weakened. If with Mars, nerve marrow dries out.

Planetary Food Tastes

• Moon = salty food
• Sun = hot food
• Saturn = cold food, stale food, stored food
• Jupiter = sweet food (person with Jupiter in 2H or 1H will love sweets)

If Jupiter is in the 2H of D6 but someone has Jupiter in the 2H in Rasi (loves sweets) → the D6 shows that love of sweets will create health problems.

PVNR's Own Chart Example

PVNR shares his personal chart data: April 4, 1970, 5:47:13 PM IST, Machilipatnam, India (81°E8', 15°N10')

In his D6: Saturn is in the 8th house in Cancer, with Rahu and Ketu

• Saturn = muscles (tissue weakness: weak muscles)
• Rahu+Ketu even deplete their friend Saturn: "They don't spare even their friends"
• Cancer = 4th house of natural zodiac = heart area
• Saturn = also planet of breathing (Vayu, air)
• Result: Weak muscles, especially in the heart and lung area; breathing-related muscle weakness

PVNR confirms he had allergic bronchitis (like a lower form of asthma) — breathing problems due to weak lung muscles. He treated himself with Ayurvedic herbs to strengthen the kapha in the lung muscles and was cured.

Planet-Sign Correspondence for Lungs

• 3H in the chart and Gemini in the natural zodiac = lungs and breathing
• Saturn = planet of Vayu (air)
• If Saturn is afflicted in 3H or in Gemini → asthma or breathing problems
• Asthma can have multiple root causes; D6 identifies which specific root cause applies to that person
