DKMT Trikonas, Dasha Systems & the Subtle Charts
The four life aims (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha) mapped to trikona groupings. The purpose of each dasha system and why Vimshottari rules Kali Yuga. The conception chart (Adhana Chakra), death chart (Punya Chakra), and Ajna Chakra for intelligence.
"In Kali Yuga, Vimshottari is most important. Even though one single dasha is not perfect, Vimshottari covers the most ground and comes closest to perfection for most purposes. Parashara says this explicitly."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Dharma-Artha-Kama-Moksha Trikonas (Detailed)
| Trikona | Houses | Core Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Dharma | 1, 5, 9 | 1H = very existence; 5H = abilities (seed of dharma); 9H = duties, what you must do as your dharma |
| Artha | 2, 6, 10 | 2H = resources; 6H = using resources to overcome obstacles; 10H = what you achieve after overcoming obstacles |
| Kama | 3, 7, 11 | 3H = drive/initiative (seed of kama); 7H = the desire you nurture; 11H = the gains/fulfillment |
| Moksha | 4, 8, 12 | 4H = happiness/contentment (starting point for moksha — you must first be contented); 8H = unselfish hard work (no selfish motive); 12H = giving away without attachment (opposite of 11H's getting) |
Dasha Systems — Purpose of Each
Parasara described at least 50 different dashas. Each has a specific focus:
| Dasha | Based On | What It Shows |
|---|---|---|
| Vimshottari | Moon's nakshatra at birth | Progression of Moon — how the mind perceives things at different times. Most versatile, covers the most ground. Use by default in Kali Yuga. 120-year total cycle. |
| Narayana Dasha | Progression of Lagna | Where your true self / effort (Narayana) is directed at a given time. Shows what the native is actively doing and where effort goes. |
| Sudasha | Progression of Shri Lagna (SL) | Where Lakshmi's blessings are at a given time. Shows when blessings come in which area — not what you're doing, but what comes easily. Correlates with political peaks, career rises, etc. |
| Moola Dasha | Root cause | Shows the root / cause of whatever is happening now. If Vimshottari shows the plant, Moola shows the root under the ground — the past-life karma behind current events. |
| Drig (Drishti) Dasha | God's blessings | Shows when guru's direction and God's grace arrive — auspicious religious and spiritual turning points. Drig = drishti = to see. When God "looks at you." |
Narayana + Sudasha correlation: By combining Narayana Dasha (effort) and Sudasha (fruits), you can see when someone will put effort AND when the results of that effort will arrive.
Vimshottari as the Dasha of Mind:
- Because it traces the Moon's progression
- Vimshottari shows how one mentally perceives events — not always the objective external reality
- A political leader may become Prime Minister, yet mentally feel cornered and powerless — Vimshottari would show the mental suffering, not the external power
— PVNR"Even though one single dasha is not perfect, Vimshottari covers the most ground and comes closest to perfection for most purposes. Parashara says: in Kali Yuga, Vimshottari is most important."
Forms of Lakshmi (for Sudasha)
| Form | What She Gives |
|---|---|
| Gajalakshmi | Vehicles, transport |
| Dhanalakshmi | Money, wealth |
| Santanalakshmi | Children |
| Rajalakshmi | Power, authority |
| Mokshalakshmi | Liberation, moksha |
— PVNR"During Gemini Sudasha, if Ketu is in Gemini, Mokshalakshmi's blessings come — things relating to spirituality will come very easily."
Conception Chart (Adhana Chakra)
- When a soul enters the womb, a new chart is cast for the moment of conception
- This chart uses Sun's nakshatra (not Moon's) to start Vimshottari Dasha
- That Vimshottari Dasha is compressed to 9 months (for human beings)
- Events during pregnancy (accidents, health issues) can be seen from this chart
- There are formulas linking the conception chart to the birth chart (up to Dvadasamsa Lagna)
- R. Santanam (translator of BPHS) did research: astrologers who controlled conception times found the birth chart correlates with the conception moment
- The time of death in one life may have a link to the conception time in the next life — evidence for continuity between incarnations
Punya Chakra — Chart at Time of Death
- The chart cast at the exact moment of death is called Punya Chakra ("meritorious chart")
- There are rules for:
- How long the mind remains attached to the soul after death
- When the mind separates from the soul
- Which Loka (heavenly/earthly plane) the soul goes to
- How many years the soul spends there
- Where the soul is reborn
- Research presented by Pandit Sanjay Rath (at California workshop) — based on teachings passed down from elders
- Vimshottari Dasha is the dasha of the mind — it may continue working even after death if the mind still exists (mind and soul separate slowly, not instantly)
Ajna Chakra — Intelligence and Intuition
- Beyond the two physical eyes, there is a third eye known as Ajna Chakra (third eye)
- Jupiter is the ruler of the Ajna Chakra
- This gives Jyotir Drishti — not literal sight but intuition, the "feeling" that something is right, divine inspiration
- Advanced astrologers who have strong Vaak Shuddhi (purity of speech) and spiritual advancement can make accurate predictions through Jyotir Drishti even without astrological calculation
- Examples: Hanuman upasakas, Ganesh upasakas, Devi upasakas — any strong spiritual sadhana can develop this
