Drig Dasha — Spiritual Significance & D24 Narayana Dasha for Education

Drig Dasha: a special dasha that shows the spiritual evolution of the person. Ketu's spiritual significance in Drig Dasha — Ketu in the dasha sign activates past-life spiritual impulses. D24 Narayana Dasha: two types — the standard ND run from D24 (for evolution of knowledge), and the "Paka ND" run from the 9th house of D24 (for advanced learning). How to apply the Three-Parts Rule to D24: which areas of learning are activated in each sub-period. Dasha Praveshi Chakra as confirmatory tool: annual chart cast for the moment the dasha sign rises.

"These principles also equally apply to any Divisional Chart, but there you have to focus on a particular area of life that the Divisional Chart corresponds to."

Drig Dasha — Spiritual Significance

Drig Dasha (also mentioned as Varga Dasha in some contexts) is a special dasha system important for spiritual and religious activities. It shows which "light of God" is falling on the person.

Key Rule:

  • If the Drig Dasha sign is aspected by Ketuspiritual awakening during that period; spiritual churning; the divine light shines on the person
  • If the Drig Dasha sign is aspected by Rahuspiritual confusion during that period
  • If dual signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) → both Rahu AND Ketu aspect → there will be periods of both spiritual growth AND confusion interspersed
— PVNR

In this chart, Ketu is in Gemini (dual sign) and Rahu in Sagittarius (dual sign). Both are dual signs, so whichever dasha sign is active will receive aspects from both Rahu and Ketu (since both occupy dual signs, they aspect all four dual signs). This means:

  • From birth, virtually every dasha sign receives both Ketu (spiritual growth) and Rahu (confusion) aspects
  • The person will always have a spiritual undercurrent and always some confusion
  • Since Virgo dasha has Rahu in Virgo itself → more confusion than spiritual progress during Virgo dasha

The Drig Dasha starting Jan 1999 (Gemini) → Ketu is in Gemini → that was a period of spiritual awakening (which is when he actually turned inward and started meditating). The confusion came because Rahu also aspects (both in dual signs).

D-24 Narayana Dasha — Two Types for Education

The D-24 (Siddhamsa) is the divisional chart for learning, knowledge, Siddhi (spiritual attainment). There are two different Narayana Dashas for D-24 depending on what kind of learning you want to analyze:

Type 1: Spiritual/Ultimate Learning (Default D-24 ND)

  • Seed house: 12th lord of the Rasi chart placed in D-24
  • Why 12th?: The D-24 is called "Siddhamsa" — the chart of Siddhi (attainment). 12th house = giving up identity, moksha, the ultimate Siddhi. So 12th lord in Rasi in D-24 shows the full arc of learning toward liberation.
  • This Dasha shows: How does the person discover God? How does ultimate learning unfold?

Type 2: Formal/Material Education (Alternative D-24 ND)

  • Seed house: 4th lord of the Rasi chart placed in D-24
  • Why 4th?: 4th house = formal education, schooling, foundational learning
  • This Dasha shows: How does the person do in formal schooling?
  • Used when analyzing: college drop-out, school performance, career-related education

Rule: 12th lord seed = spiritual maturity and ultimate learning (invisible/intangible). 4th lord seed = worldly/formal education (visible, institutional learning).

— PVNR

Additional seed options (research ongoing):

  • 4th lord → formal/basic education
  • 9th lord → bachelor's/higher formal education (9H is the house for bachelor's degree level)
  • 10th lord → professional learning (10H in D-24 shows career-related learning)
— PVNR

Applying to AS Chart

4th lord of Aries lagna = Moon (Cancer = 4th sign). Moon is in Libra in D-24. Compare Libra and Aries (7th from Libra) — Aries is stronger → start D-24 ND from Aries.

Taurus Dasha in D-24 (1990 – 2001):

  • This corresponds to the years of school (including high school + college start)
  • Taurus is Prishtodaya → Sign's results come in last 1/3
  • During the last 1/3 of Taurus: A3 (short break) and A8 (complete break) are both aspecting Taurus by Rasi drishti
    • A3 = short break/vacation from learning (like a co-op or gap semester)
    • A8 = complete break, total giving up (dropping out permanently)
  • Since both A3 and A8 are aspecting, and the last 1/3 brings their results → the drop out happened during this period (confirmed: dropped out ~1998-1999)

Gemini Dasha in D-24 (2001 – 2013):

  • Gemini = Sirshodaya → sign's results in first 1/3; lord in middle 1/3; associations in last 1/3
  • Lord Mercury in Sagittarius (Prishtodaya) → Mercury's results in last 1/3
  • Planets aspecting Gemini: Sun and Saturn → give results in middle 1/3

Middle 1/3 sub-analysis (2004 May – 2006 Jan = last portion of middle 1/3):

  • Sun's sub-period (2004 May – 2005 Mar): Sun = 4th lord (education lord) in 2nd house of resources. Planet whose agenda is learning, placed in house of resources → will use resources toward learning. Relatively better period for attempting courses, trying to re-engage with studies.
  • Saturn's sub-period (2005 Mar – 2006 Jan): Saturn = Yogakaraka for Aries lagna (9th + 10th lord). In D-24, he is in the 8th house but has the agenda of dharma (9th) and karma (10th).
    • 9th house = bachelor's degree level education
    • 10th house = professional learning, career karma
    • Saturn in 8th will give results with great effort; but as Yogakaraka, eventually brings: finishing bachelor's degree, getting name in society, realizing dharma
    • His aspect on Gemini (2nd house of resources) → he will use those resources well, directed toward finishing his degree

Rule (confirmed here): For bachelor's degree specifically, the relevant house in D-24 is the 9th house (not the 4th).

Annual TP Chart for 2005 (confirmation of Saturn's results):

  • Hora Lord = Sun (Sun is also Lagna Lord in this annual chart)
  • Hora Lord = Lagna Lord → fresh start, new beginning, good health; a generally auspicious year
  • Sun in 5th house (adhimitra sthana = best friend's house) aspected by Jupiter → Sun is very happy, compound friend
  • In D-24 of TP 2005: Hora Lord in 10th house (professional/career education focus) + LL Venus in Raj Yoga with 9th lord Mercury (9th = bachelor's house; Raj Yoga involving both LL and 9th lord + aspecting lagna = great progress in bachelor's education)
  • Conclusion: 2005 is a very auspicious year for completing bachelor's education → aligns with Saturn's sub-period prediction

Annual TP as Confirmatory Tool

PVNR's Teaching: Never rely on one parameter alone. If Narayana Dasha suggests a particular event (e.g., health problem in 2010, marriage in a certain year), always confirm with the annual Tithi Pravesha chart:

  1. If ND + TP both show the same event → high confidence (60-80%)
  2. If ND shows it but TP doesn't → lower confidence (maybe 30-40%); might manifest in a minor way
  3. If ND, TP, AND Vimshottari all three show the same event → very high confidence (~80-90%)

"You can never say 100% based on one parameter. But if the TP also shows a particular year as a strong candidate, and Narayana Dasa also shows it, and Vimshottari Dasa also shows it, then you can confidently say it will happen during this year."

— PVNR

2010 TP Chart (for AS chart):

  • Hora Lord = Mercury (ruler of the year)
  • Mercury owns: 3rd and 6th houses (from Aries lagna) → health-related houses prominent
  • Mercury afflicted by: Rahu closely (within 3°) + Gulika + Mandi
  • Rahu = Badhakesha (11th lord for Aries lagna = Badhakasthana lord) afflicting Mercury
  • Conclusion: 2010 is not a good year for health → corroborates Rahu's sub-period in Virgo dasha middle 1/3 (2010 Jan-Jul)
  • Practical advice: Before 2010, improve diet, exercise habits, avoid new bad habits; awareness can minimize the impact
