Where the class stands

• The class is in Chapter 24 of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstram (the chapter on the lords of the houses placed in the twelve houses).
• The 3rd lord in all twelve houses is finished. This class starts the 4th lord in the various houses.

The verse

Sukheśe lagnage jāto vidyāguṇa-vibhūṣitaḥ; bhūmi-vāhana-saṃyukto mātuḥ sukha-samanvitaḥ

A misprint in the book

• The teacher reads the first verse, moves on to the next one — sukheśe dhanage jāto — and stops: "What happened to 1st house?"
• The first verse is printed with dhanage (in the 2nd house) where it should say lagnage (in lagna). He had corrected it in his mind while reading, without noticing.

"Actually Lagnage has been misprinted as Dhanage."

• So the first verse is the 4th lord in lagna; the verse after it is the 4th lord in the 2nd house.

Results of the 4th lord in lagna

• Vidyāguṇa-vibhūṣitaḥ — endowed with learning and various good qualities.
• Bhūmi-vāhana-saṃyuktaḥ — bhūmi is land, real estate; vāhana is vehicles; saṃyukta is one who possesses. He has a lot of property and a lot of vehicles.
• Mātuḥ sukha-samanvitaḥ — mātuḥ, of the mother; sukha, happiness. He is happy with respect to mother; he has a lot of maternal happiness.

Why

• All the results are good ones.
• All of them are significations of the 4th house itself: mother, land, vehicles, learning, good qualities.

"So it's all very nice results. Why? Well, 4th house stands for all these things."

The transcript ends here, in mid-sentence, before the teacher explains what the lord's placement in lagna adds.

What Is Missing

Not on the surviving recording; unverified.

• Lesson 136 opens with "4th lord up to 6th house we finished. Now 4th lord in the 7th house."
• So the 4th lord in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th houses was taught before lesson 136 — most likely in the lost remainder of this class. No transcript of it survives, and nothing about those verses is recorded here.
