D10 Career (Service vs Business) & D24 Siddhamsa Education Analysis
D10 career — service vs. business test: Sun as karaka for service, 7th house in D10 as karaka for business. Trikona analysis of career motivation: which trikona (Dharma/Artha/Kama) dominates in D10 determines the primary driver. D24 (Siddhamsa) education analysis: 4H = basic education, 9H = bachelor's degree, 2H = postgraduate. If 9H and 2H of D24 are linked by the same planet, it usually means continuation in the same field for higher studies. Jupiter and Ketu in D24 for traditional/learned education paths.
"Usually if you see links between 9th and 2nd in D-24, give preference to that planet — people tend to do masters in what they studied in bachelors."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Example Chart
D-10 Career Analysis — Service vs. Business
The Basic Thumb Rule
6th house stronger than 7th → person is more oriented toward SERVICE (job)
7th house stronger than 6th → person is more oriented toward BUSINESS
When assessing strength, PVNR counts planets: here Moon is in 6H and Rahu is in 7H — equally strong (one planet each, equally unhappy in each other's signs).
Conclusion: This chart can go either service or business.
Lordship is Agenda; House Occupied is Resources
This is a fundamental principle PVNR teaches through an extended analogy:
— PVNR"I am at SJC right now. I have access to the table, the projector, the heater — these are the resources here. But what is my agenda? I own my house in Grafton and I am associated with SJC — my agenda is to advance the cause of SJC, to teach astrology the way SJC believes in. The house I occupy gives resources and some responsibilities; but the house I OWN is my agenda."
Applied to planets in D-10:
- Rahu = 6th lord. Agenda = working hard, overcoming obstacles (6H = service, overcoming)
- Rahu is in 7H = it has ACCESS to the 7th house resources (desire, relationships with people, business energy)
- But Rahu's AGENDA is still 6H — working hard
Result: Rahu in 7H gives a strong desire to change and do new things (7H = Kama trikona = desires), but NOT the inherent entrepreneurship of a true businessman. Rahu will give: "I want to go from civil engineering to software" or "I want to become a chief architect" — desire for growth, not desire for independent business.
Natural Entrepreneurs have: 3L (initiative) or 11L (gains) or 7L (desire itself) in 7H. If 6L is in 7H = strong desire but actually meant to work for others.
— PVNR"Rahu is also the planet of change and innovation and new things. So when Rahu is in the 7th house, he will give a desire to break into something else, to do something else. If somebody is a civil engineer, he may want to go into software. But not the desire for business."
Trikona Analysis of Motivation
| Trikona | Houses | What Drives the Person |
|---|---|---|
| Dharma Trikona | 1H/5H/9H | Doing the right thing matters most; principled; "I do what is correct" |
| Artha Trikona | 2H/6H/10H | Can't be idle; likes to DO things; not motivated by returns or principles — just by activity itself |
| Kama Trikona | 3H/7H/11H | What you GET IN RETURN matters most; "Do it if there's something in it for you" |
| Moksha Trikona | 4H/8H/12H | Want to get THINGS DONE in society; keep doing, finishing, completing; action-oriented |
If you win $100 million lottery:
- Artha Trikona person still goes to work — can't be idle
- Kama Trikona person might stop working — they worked for the returns; if returns are already there, what's the point?
- Dharma Trikona person goes to work if it's the right thing to do
- Moksha Trikona person works to complete something they feel called to finish
9th House in D-10 = Protection + Boss
Jupiter in the 9th house of D-10 = smooth career, always protected
— PVNR"If somebody has Jupiter in 9th house of Dasamsa, career will be smooth. There will not be any huge problems like suddenly being laid off and not finding a job for 2 years. Even if there is a big layoff and his name is on the list, at the last minute something will happen — his boss's boss will come and say 'we need that guy for that project, keep him.' Something will always save him."
9H = protection AND the house of your boss, the person who defines and protects your career path.
Badhaka and Inexplicable Desire
For Gemini and other dual-sign lagnas, the Badhaka is the 7th house (7th from dual sign is another dual sign).
- Badhaka lord = Jupiter
- Jupiter as Badhaka lord = inexplicable tension related to desire; you don't know WHY you are unhappy
- He was a civil engineer, career was smooth (Jupiter in 9H protects), boss was good — but he was deeply unhappy, felt a strong pull toward software
- He couldn't explain WHY. That inexplicable, irrational unhappiness = Badhaka energy
— PVNR"Bhadaka is always some kind of negativity, some worry, some unhappiness, and it is INEXPLICABLE. You don't really know why. You don't know why you want to be a software engineer, why you are so worried. You can't put your finger on it. It just happens like that."
Siddhamsa (D-24) — Education Analysis
Houses for Different Education Levels
- 4th house = basic education (school level, foundation)
- 9th house = graduation / bachelor's degree
- 2nd house = post-graduation / master's degree
Planets for Different Fields
- Civil/Construction Engineering: Saturn and Ketu are the primary planets; Venus secondarily (beautiful construction)
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering: Mars (fire-based engineering, Vishwakarma deity)
- Software / Logic: Mercury (primary) and Ketu (secondary)
In student's chart D-24: Saturn in 9H with Ketu's argala → civil engineering for bachelor's (Saturn + Ketu = construction). Saturn aspecting 2H (masters) + link between 9H and 2H = strong indicator that master's is in the same field as bachelor's.
— PVNR"Usually if you see links between 9th and 2nd [in D-24], give preference to that planet — usually people tend to do masters in what they studied in bachelors. That link strongly indicates continuation in the same field."
Gap between bachelor's and starting post-graduation (Jupiter-Jupiter dasha): Jupiter in Leo in 12H of Siddhamsa → 12H can give breaks, gaps. Jupiter could have given post-graduation but in something different (management, finance — Leo-related). He waited for Jupiter-Saturn antardasha when Saturn (the civil engineering planet) came in to give the specific subject.
Astrology Learning: Why Now?
Why is the student learning astrology so seriously in 2004 (Jupiter Dasha, Rahu Antardasha)?
Bhoga formula (applied in D-24 / Siddhamsa):
- Jupiter to Rahu = 11th house
- 11 from Rahu = Aries
- From Siddhamsa lagna (Virgo), Aries = 8th house
- 8th house = occult knowledge, hidden knowledge
- Bhoga in 8H of Siddhamsa → experiences directed toward learning the hidden/occult = astrology ✓
