Rajiv Gandhi — Political Power, Love Marriage & D12 Knowledge Lineage
Rajiv Gandhi's political power analysis from D10 and Rasi: how the 5H (mass following) + 10H (career) indicators gave political ascent during Saturn Dasha. Why he married a foreigner: A7 (Arudha of 7H) in a foreign sign + Venus in foreign navamsha + 7th from Venus indicator. D12 (Dvadasamsha) for parents and knowledge lineage: 9H of D12 = father's influence on learning. Sanjay Rath's D24 + D12 showing his father burned his astrology books — knowledge lineage cut, then re-established.
"The 7th from Venus shows the person who arranges your marriage and from where they come. This is a very specific and powerful technique."
— P.V.R. Narasimha Rao
Example Chart
Rajiv Gandhi's Chart — Political Power Analysis
Chart: Aug 20, 1944, 7:12:45 AM IST, Mumbai (72°E49', 18°N58')
Which Dasha Gave Political Power?
- Sashtihaeni dasha applies: Sun is in lagna = 60-year conditional dasha
- Running dasha when he became PM (October-November 1984): Saturn dasha
- Vimshottari from Moon gives Rahu dasha — but Rahu is 3rd lord in 4th house; this doesn't clearly show political power
- Saturn dasha (in Sashtihaeni): as soon as Saturn dasha started in March 1984, within months he was PM
- "If I were using Vimshottari and I didn't know he was PM, would I have predicted Rahu gives political power? Honestly — no."
- Lesson: Use the right conditional dasha when it applies
Sun — The Karaka for Political Power
- Sun = significator of political power (primary)
- Mars = secondary planet for political power (aggressive, enterprising energy)
- Sun in 10th house of D-10: politician/powerful person indicated
- 9th lord Sun in 10th house = "political career comes very naturally, with no effort — like something you deserve from past lives"
- Trikona lords in 10H = things that come easily; Kendra lords = with some effort; Dusthana lords = with great difficulty
Result Exchange Rule — When It Does NOT Work
This is a critical clarification:
Normal result exchange (conjunct planets in same house):
- When two planets are in the same house, they are "living together" — they can exchange results in each other's dashas
When exchange does NOT work:
- When the two planets are utter enemies who would never cooperate
- Example: Sun + Ketu in same house
- Ketu wants to eclipse Sun; they are each other's worst enemies
- If you tell Ketu to give Sun's results, Ketu refuses — it wants to obstruct, not cooperate
- "They will stay in two different corners of the room and not do each other's work"
- Therefore: Ketu dasha does NOT give Sun's results; Sun dasha does NOT give Ketu's results
- Same applies to Sun + Rahu: they hate each other (story of Kurma Avatara — Sun and Moon revealed Rahu's deception, causing Vishnu to cut Rahu's head; hence Rahu and Ketu hate Sun and Moon)
When exchange DOES work:
- Jupiter + Sun: friendly planets → Jupiter gives Sun's results; Sun gives Jupiter's results
- Jupiter + Ketu: they are not enemies → they do exchange
- When Sun, Jupiter, and Ketu are all together:
- Sun (middle) gives its own results
- Jupiter and Ketu exchange with each other (they are not enemies)
- Order of beneficence: Jupiter > Sun > Ketu
- Most benefic (Jupiter) gives results of most malefic (Ketu); Ketu gives Jupiter's results; Sun gives its own
General rule: Malefics that hate each other (primarily Rahu/Ketu vs Sun/Moon) do NOT exchange results when conjunct. Other planets generally do.
Antardasha Bhoga — Election Timing
Rajiv Gandhi in Saturn mahadasha (Sashtihaeni), Venus antardasha (1989):
- Count from mahadasha lord Sun (Virgo) to antardasha lord Venus (Aquarius) = 6 signs
- Count 6 from Venus = Cancer = 8th house from D-10 lagna
- Bhoga in 8th house of D-10 = big setback in career
- He went for 1989 elections in Venus antardasha → lost power
- PVNR: "If you had seen this before the elections, you would have advised him NOT to go for elections in Venus antardasha. Bhoga in 8H = setback."
- Mercury antardasha would have been better: bhoga in 2H (not great but less terrible)
- "Had he preponed the elections by 6 months to Mercury antardasha, he would probably have won"
Love Marriage Formula — A7 and Venus
The formula for identifying love marriage in a chart:
- Find A7 (Darapada) = Arudha of 7th house = tangible manifestation of desire for a partner
- See if A7 is in a Venusian sign (Taurus or Libra) OR if Venus and Moon are aspecting A7
- If A7 is in Venus sign with Moon/Venus aspect → strong love marriage indication
In Rajiv Gandhi's chart:
- Rasi chart: A7 in Venusian sign + Venus and Moon aspecting by rasi drishti → some indication, but not very strong
- Navamsa: A7 in 5th house + Venus and Moon both aspecting it → much clearer indication of love marriage
- Rule: Navamsa is stronger for marriage analysis; Rasi confirms
Note: A7 in 5H is particularly significant — 5th house = emotions, future desires; having A7 there shows the emotional/romantic dimension is tied to the desire for partnership.
Extramarital affairs: Seen from A7 (Darapada), NOT from UL
- UL = committed relationship
- A7 = attraction, desire, affairs
- If a planet influencing A7 has its dasha running = affair possible during that period
7th from Venus — Who Arranges the Marriage and From Where
This rule is SEPARATE from love marriage indicators. It shows the circumstances by which the marriage is brought about — not whether it is a love marriage.
The Rule
"7th from Venus (in Rasi and/or Navamsa) = how and through whom the marriage comes"
See:
- Who is the 7th lord from Venus (the planet shows WHO brings the marriage)
- What sign is the 7th from Venus in (sign type shows WHERE the spouse comes from)
- What is aspecting or afflicting that 7th lord (shows complications or untraditional elements)
Who Brings the Marriage — Planet Shows the Person
| Planet (7th lord from Venus) | Who Brings the Marriage |
|---|---|
| Sun | Father arranges it; father's will dominates |
| Moon | Mother arranges it; mother's preference |
| Mars | Brother arranges it; brother's connection |
| Jupiter | Grandfather arranges; elders from father's side |
| Mercury | Uncle, aunt, or other extended relatives |
| Saturn | Traditional/formal arrangement but with some coldness; or very selfish person brings it |
| Rahu | Untraditional; barrier-crossing; foreign influence; intercaste/community |
| Ketu | Traditional on surface; BUT if Ketu afflicts Sun/Moon/Jupiter = untraditional despite appearances |
When the planet is afflicted by Saturn or Rahu: Even if the planet is traditionally inclined (like Ketu), if Saturn or Rahu is afflicting the 7th lord from Venus, there will be some untraditional element — barriers are crossed, conventions broken.
When Rahu afflicts the 7th lord from Venus: The marriage will be untraditional — either intercaste, intercultural, or outright foreign.
Sun is the planet of Dharma — more than even Jupiter when it comes to marriage arrangements. If Sun is the 7th lord from Venus and is not afflicted, the marriage is very dharmic, brought about by family will.
Distance — Sign Type Shows How Far
| Sign Type (7th lord from Venus occupies) | Distance of Spouse |
|---|---|
| Movable sign | Faraway place; long distance relationship |
| Fixed sign | Same town/very nearby; from same location |
| Dual sign | Middle distance; same country, different city |
How to Determine Stronger Co-Lord (Saturn vs Rahu)
When both Saturn and Rahu co-own the 7th from Venus sign:
- Count which has more planets with them (tie-breaker)
- See which is aspected by Jupiter, Mercury, or its own dispositor (aspected by more of these = stronger)
- See exaltation (exalted wins; debilitated loses)
- Sign type: Dual sign strongest > Fixed sign > Movable sign (final tie-breaker)
Examples
Rajiv Gandhi — Why He Married a Foreigner
- Rasi: 7th lord from Venus = Saturn (in 11th house) → friend referred; someone who is from far away; Saturn in dual sign
- Navamsa: 7th lord from Venus = Jupiter, conjunct Rahu (Guru Chandala yoga)
- Rahu afflicting Jupiter = untraditional, non-conventional marriage
- Jupiter + Rahu in 12th house from lagna = from a foreign country (12th = abroad + 12H is Cancer = water = across seas)
- "Navamsa clearly shows she will be from a foreign country and this will be a non-conventional marriage"
Chart 1 (Shriram): Navamsa 7th from Venus = Saturn (debilitated, retrograde) in parivartana with Mars (exalted)
- Mars = exalted = you (lagna lord) = strong, aggressive, confident about the marriage
- Saturn = debilitated = elders not happy (Saturn = elders; debilitated = weakened/opposed)
- Parivartana Mars-Saturn = force vs resistance; Mars wins (exalted)
- "After some confusion and opposition from elders, you went ahead with it aggressively"
- Due to parivartana: Saturn acts as if in Mars's place (10th house) = related to work/project environment
Chart 2: Navamsa 7th from Venus = Sun with Ketu
- Ketu afflicting Sun = NOT traditional despite Ketu's traditional reputation
- Rahu-Ketu axis on Sun = Chandala influence = some untraditional element
- BUT in Rasi: 7th lord from Venus = Jupiter (retrograde = exaltation equivalent) with Moon = very traditional
- Result: Rasi dominated over Navamsa in this case → traditional marriage confirmed
- Distance: Dual sign → spouse from different city (Madras to Bombay, confirmed)
Kiran Chandrasekhar: Navamsa 7th from Venus = Sun (with Venus in Aquarius)
- Sun = father arranges
- Mercury also in 7th from Venus → uncle/aunt also plays role
- Fixed sign → same city/nearby (Bangalore)
- Confirmed: father arranged; father's sister (aunt = Mercury) also played a role
D-12 (Dvadasamsa) — Parents and Knowledge Lineage
D-12 House System for Parents
- 4th house from lagna in D-12 = mother's lagna (use 4th house as reference for mother)
- 9th house from lagna in D-12 = father's lagna
- 9th from 4th house = 12th from lagna = maternal grandfather
- 9th from 9th house = paternal grandfather
- 3rd from 9th = younger brother of father = paternal uncle
Important: The house ITSELF becomes the lagna for that person. Then read the chart from that lagna to understand the person's qualities and capacities.
Rajiv Gandhi's D-12 — Who Had Political Power?
Mother's lagna = Aries (4th house):
- Mars (lagna lord) + Sun (5th lord from Aries) in 6th house from Aries (well-placed for malefics!)
- "Sun and Mars being lagna lord and 5th lord together in an upachaya = Raj Yoga for mother"
- Both are in 6th (papasthana = growth for malefics); they give her ruthless power
- "In 6th house, they show someone who will destroy enemies — the Iron Lady quality"
- The same Sun that gives political power in D-10 gives mother political power in D-12
Father's lagna = Virgo (9th house):
- Mars and Sun are in Virgo lagna as 8th and 12th lords = bad combination for political power
- "Virgo as lagna: Sun and Mars are 8th and 12th lords — they give idealism, aggression, but NOT political power"
- "He is a very aggressive, idealistic person but deprived politically" — Feroz Gandhi confirmed
Grandfather's lagna = Sagittarius (9th from 4th = 12th from lagna):
- From Sagittarius: Sun (9th lord) + Mars (5th lord) in 10th house = excellent Raj Yoga
- "5th and 9th lord in 10th = Great Raj Yoga for grandfather = Jawaharlal Nehru" — confirmed
- Jupiter in moolatrikona (Sagittarius = home sign, 1°-10° moolatrikona) in 1st house
- Venus exalted in 4th house
- Two Mahapurusha Yogas: Hamsa (Jupiter in moolatrikona) vs Malavya (Venus exalted)
- Exaltation > Moolatrikona → Malavya dominates → Nehru as luxurious, romantic, creative person (Malavya type confirmed)
Correlating D-10 and D-12 for Career Inheritance
The principle: If the same planet that gives your career power in D-10 also gives political power to your parent in D-12, you can inherit that power from them.
For Rajiv Gandhi:
- Sun in 10th house in D-10 = his political power
- Sun gives political power to mother (as her LL + in good position for Aries lagna) in D-12
- Sun gives political power to grandfather (9th lord in 10th from Sagittarius) in D-12
- Therefore: His political power was inherited from mother and grandfather (not father)
- "When his mother was assassinated, that political power was inherited by him — and the same Sun is showing that inheritance"
Sanjay Rath's Chart — Astrological Knowledge Lineage in D-12 + D-24
Love marriage (Rasi): A7 in Moon's sign with Venus in it and in 5th house = very clear love marriage
In D-12:
- Father (9th house = Aries): Rahu in lagna (Aries) = not a good astrologer
- Grandfather (9th from 9th = 17th = 5th = Sagittarius): Jupiter + Mercury in 2nd house from Sagittarius = excellent astrologer
- Uncle/younger brother of father (3rd from 9th = 11th = Gemini): Jupiter + Mercury in 8th house from Gemini = excellent astrologer
In D-24:
- Virgo and Mercury = the sign/planet representing Sanjay Rath's own astrological learning
The connection:
- Virgo from grandfather's lagna (Sagittarius) = 10th house = grandfather's karma → grandfather sees teaching Sanjay as his karma
- Moon in Virgo: from grandfather's lagna, Moon = 8th lord = grandfather's occult knowledge; he will share this knowledge directly
- From uncle's lagna (Gemini): Virgo = 4th house; Moon there = 2nd lord = Moon's agenda = making practical predictions; uncle makes real predictions that Sanjay observes and learns from
- From father's lagna (Aries): Virgo = 6th house = obstruction; father actually obstructs astrological learning
- Historical confirmation: Sanjay Rath's father didn't believe in astrology and burned all of Sanjay's astrology books when he was away
The common thread: Virgo and Mercury appear in the D-24 as the sign/planet of Sanjay's learning, AND they connect to grandfather's and uncle's D-12 signatures for astrological activity.
General principle: "When you want to see where someone's knowledge or power comes from, look for the same planet that gives that quality in one chart (D-10, D-24, etc.) and see how that planet or sign appears in the D-12 relatives' charts. The match tells you who is the source."
