Jaya Yoga, the yoga of victory: lagna lord reasonably strong, 10th lord exalted, 6th lord debilitated. It rests on a wider rule: 6th, 8th and 12th lords debilitated are good materially, and exalted they are bad news. The Arudha Lagna of the Dasamsa is the image the public has, formed by the karma done in society. The 7th from Arudha Lagna shows who the image fights: Moon and Ketu there gave the hated image of Moon dasha (1973–1983). The 6th house shows how he overcomes obstacles, and Sun as 12th lord in the 8th gives Vipareeta Raja Yoga, the sudden rise of Sun dasha (1967–1973).

D10 Career Analysis — Amsha Meanings & Arudha Job Timing

A D10 read end to end on an engineer’s chart. The 9th of D10 is the boss, so a lagna lord there wants no boss; a lagna lord in the 10th is fully engaged in his karma. The ruling deity of a planet’s dasamsa gives the direction of its work: lagna in Brahma amsha with Rahu is the keep-digging R&D mind, Sun in Ananta amsha is administration for spiritual work, Mercury in Yama amsha is cold, dutiful analysis that takes criticism well. The D10 lagna is chosen between two signs from the first job and the Arudha Lagna. Job timing from Tithi Pravesha: recognition from the 5th and A5, the offer from the 9th and A9, a break when a 6th or 10th lord sits in the 3rd or 8th, lower status when the ruler of the year is 12th from Arudha Lagna, and business only when the 7th lord’s desire is financial.

D10 Career Analysis — Dikpala Amshas Applied

Dasamsha reading of the same native, a system administrator in the computer industry. The 6th house with Saturn and Rahu in Aries outweighs the 10th, so the career is service; Rahu in Brahma amsha digs into and organises what exists, Saturn in Yama amsha sees that the order is kept, and the 6th lord Mars in Vayu amsha creates strength for others. Debilitation is not bad in Dasamsha: four debilitated planets show patient hard work. The lagna shows what he is at work and the Arudha Lagna the image colleagues hold. Venus, whose dasha has just begun, owns the 2nd and 7th from the 6th and is maraka to service: it brings the wish for a business, and the advice is some independence but do not break the service. The recorded birth time of Bush, 7:26, is tested against the rectified 7:30 on the events of 2000 — litigation in Moon dasha, declared winner in Mars dasha, sworn in in Mercury dasha — which fit only the Aquarius Dashamsha lagna that 7:30 gives. Rules taught on the way: a dusthana lord in a dusthana is Viparita Raja Yoga only when no quadrant lord joins him; benefics in the 3rd or 6th from Arudha Lagna show loss and malefics gain; a planet on or aspecting both Lagna and Ghatika Lagna is a yogada. D10 Career Analysis — Amshas, Combustion & Antardasha Reading

A full Dasamsa reading of a student's career with Dwi-Saptati Sama dasha. The amsha ruler of each dasha lord gives the work of that period: Venus in Varuna amsha (procurement, micromanagement), Saturn in Yama amsha (odd jobs done as duty), Rahu in Indra amsha (influence, high-tech). The D-10 lagna sits near a border; Venus as 2nd lord with the 6th lord, Mars in the 8th for sudden layoffs and Rahu as 6th lord in the 12th (Vipareeta Raja Yoga) favour Virgo over Libra. Combustion is judged in the Rashi chart, not in divisional charts; it hurts Venus most, Mars and Jupiter least, and Rahu or Ketu with the Sun is the worst for the Sun. An antardasha lord is counted from the dasha lord, and conjunct planets give each other's results: the layoffs came in Venus antardasha, not Saturn's.

Service vs. Business — Arudha Analysis

A student has been told he will leave his job for business. The Dasamsa is tested in steps. Thumb rule: more planets in the 6th means service, more in the 7th means business. Then the lords: 6th lord Saturn, karaka of service, is strong, while 7th lord Jupiter is in the 3rd, his Marana Karaka Sthana. Then A6 against A7, and planets in Kubera amsha. Verdict: a service chart, and no business in Sun dasha (2002–2011), in which Mars antardasha is the one risk to the job. Moon dasha from 2011 can give a business, because Moon owns the 11th and A7 and sits in A3 in lagna; Moon in Ananta amsha makes it spiritual work, not restaurants.

George W. Bush — Natal Dasha Analysis & Political Power

George W. Bush has Cancer lagna with the 7th lord Saturn in lagna, so Dwi-Saptati Sama Dasha applies. Jupiter Dasha (April 2000 – April 2009) matches the presidency: Moon and Jupiter within 1.5° in Virgo give Gajakesari Yoga and a Raj Yoga of the lagna lord and 9th lord. The natal daśāṁśa of Swami Jayendra Saraswati. From Scorpio lagna the 9th lord Moon and the 10th lord Sun are together in Pisces in the 5th house: Dharma-Karma Adhipati Yoga in a sāttvic sign, in the house of following. Ketu is with them, and because he is with more planets than Mars he is the lord of Scorpio — so lagna lord, 9th lord and 10th lord are joined and the Raja Yoga is far stronger. The direction of the karma is read from the deity of each planet's daśāṁśa: Sun and Ketu in Ananta aṁśa turn the karma to spirituality, and Moon, the 9th lord, in Agni aṁśa makes his dharma the transformation of society. Subbalakshmi's Dasamsa (D-10), Aries lagna. Saturn and Ketu in lagna make a hardworking, detached, dynamic worker. Lagna lord Mars and 11th lord Saturn exchange signs — a Dhana Yoga, which in D-10 means every resource needed for one's karma. Sun in the 2nd gives political connections as a resource. Moon and Jupiter exchange the 4th and 9th — a Raj Yoga that joins dharma and contentment. The Arudha Lagna of D-10 is the public image: hers is Sagittarius with Moon and no malefic on it, an unblemished reputation. A retrograde planet is strong, not weak: it carries an unfinished desire from past lives, brings extra effort and a test, and mostly delivers. Dasamsa: a strong 6th house means service and a strong 7th means business — count the planets. When they tie, see which lord sits in the 7th: the 6th lord there gives strong desires about work, not a business; the 7th, 11th or 3rd lord there makes an entrepreneur. The house a planet owns is its agenda; the house it occupies gives it resources. Jupiter in the 9th of Dasamsa protects the career, and as Badhaka lord of a dual-sign lagna he gives an unhappiness the person cannot explain. The strong trikona shows why a person works. Siddhamsa (D24): 4th = basic education, 9th = bachelor’s, 2nd = master’s; a planet linking the 9th and 2nd keeps the master’s in the same subject. Saturn and Ketu give civil engineering.

D10 Career — Planet Archetypes, Mercury vs Venus, Argala & Reference Points

The court analogy for career: Sun is the king, Moon the minister, Mercury the prince or scholar, Jupiter the priest, Venus the dancing girl, Saturn the workers. Mercury is a Bhu tattva planet and shows prose, communication and media; Venus is a Jala tattva planet and shows poetry and entertainment — so a television producer is read from Mercury, not Venus. Moving the birth time two minutes changes the D10 lagna from Scorpio to Libra and puts Mercury in the 10th, which explains a software career followed by television production. The 10th lord in the 6th makes a workaholic; papakartari on Mercury from Saturn and Rahu acts like a Maharaja Yoga because both own the 5th; the 7th lord Mars in the 3rd and in the Arudha Lagna gives the image of an entrepreneur; the dikpala amsas show the approach to work. The bhoga formula then times the Mercury daśā: bhoga in the 10th for Mercury–Mercury and Mercury–Jupiter, in the 12th for Mercury–Rahu. It gives victory over enemies in the dasha of the 6th or 10th lord. George W. Bush's D-10 has it without modification — 6th lord Jupiter debilitated and 10th lord Mars exalted, both in Capricorn. With the 7th lord Saturn in lagna in the rasi, Dwisaptati Sama Dasha is used: Jupiter mahadasha ran April 2000 to April 2009, starting when he overtook John McCain in the primaries and covering both terms. D-10 Narayana Dasha is found from the 10th lord of the rasi chart placed in the Dasamsa: Narayana is in the work, the D-10 is the environment. Aquarius dasha has two lords; the stronger-lord rules are worked step by step until Rahu in a dual sign beats Saturn in a fixed sign. The dasha is then read in three parts — the sign (5th house, 3rd from AL, with A9, A7 and A8), Rahu's four quarters as 5th lord in the 6th with Mars, and the aspects of Moon, Sun and Mercury — against a job, a lay-off and a turn to business. Rules taught on the way: malefics in the 3rd and 6th from Arudha Lagna, a malefic in the 6th from lagna gives obstacles and the overcoming of them, the planet's own agenda decides the result, and nimittas while predicting.

Before reading Vimshottari, check whether a conditional dasha applies: Dwisaptati Sama, Shashtihayani, Shatabdika, Chaturasiti Sama. None applies to Bill Gates, so his Sun dasha is read in Vimshottari. In the navamsa Sun is in the 9th house: a dasha of dharma. In the D-10 Sun is 7th lord in the 12th, his marana karaka sthana: the business is broken up or control is given up, while Sun in A3 starts new ventures and his argala on the 11th keeps the gains coming. What each planet gives when it is in the Navamsa Lagna, in a trine to it, or aspects it by rasi drishti: Sun administration, Venus management, full Moon with Venus the educationist, Mars metallurgy and warfare, Mercury business and quick learning, Jupiter broad knowledge with depth in one subject, Saturn success in any line through hard work, Rahu poisons, medicines and big machines, Ketu transport, computers and parampara. These are abilities that come without training; they do not fix the career. The Swamsa rules read on four Navamsas. PVNR: Sun and Ketu in trine to a Taurus Navamsa Lagna, Sun in exchange with Saturn, and Mercury, Moon and Venus in kartari — administration, hard work, computers, tradition, the teacher. A boy born in 1988, known to be artistic: Venus, Ketu and Jupiter in a Scorpio Navamsa Lagna, with about seven of the nine planets influencing it. Bill Gates: Jupiter in the Navamsa Lagna and Sun in trine — judgment and administration, with Mercury for business. Student Chart — D10 Narayana Dasha Career Analysis & TP Charts

A student out of work for more than two years, read again after earlier predictions failed. Narayana Dasha of the D-10: the last one-third of Libra dasha belongs to Venus, whose yoga with Ketu and Netrapani avastha block a job until August 2005; Virgo dasha, the lagna, then gives a new beginning, and the Mercury–Saturn raja yoga is timed to March 2010 – February 2011. The Tithi Pravesha charts confirm it: in 2004 the 3rd and 8th lords sit in the D-10 lagna, so no job; in 2005 the Hora Lord Mercury is the 3rd lord in the 3rd, and Jupiter in the 6th with the 5th lord and Hora Lagna gives a full-time job between August 27 and November 4. Worked Example — D24 Education, D10 Career Analysis & ND Three-Part Rules

The same chart, now for education and career. In D-24 the 9th house is the bachelor's degree and its lord the intelligence applied to it: Saturn and Mercury in the 9th and a debilitated 9th lord with the nodes show a telecom degree done slowly and without interest, timed by the three-parts rule on the D-24 Narayana Dasha. In D-10 the 10th house, with Jupiter in moolatrikona, is the strongest of 2, 6 and 10 and shows administration and HR, but four planets in the 8th make retirement stronger than career. The Narayana Dasha of D-10 is split by the three-parts rule and Jupiter's share by the four-parts rule: the career consolidates in 2005–06, is solid in 2006–2010, and changes with Capricorn dasha in 2010. From then PVNR expects a business of her own for a while — its kind read from A7 in Scorpio with Rahu's aspect, its year tested on the 2010 annual chart.

Example Chart — Career Decision via Annual TP & A9+A10+A4 Material Raja Yoga

An engineer unhappy with his company's management holds an offer that means relocating: change now or stay? The lagna is at 0°06' Taurus, so the birth time is first tested on his marriage and the sex and timing of his children in D7. The decision is then read from the 2004 annual Tithi Pravesha chart. The ruler of the year, Mercury, is 8th and 11th lord in lagna afflicting the 10th lord Sun; in D10 he is lagna and 10th lord in a Raja Yoga with Venus, who is in Marana Karaka Sthana as 2nd and 9th lord — resources and direction from superiors are what suffers. The running Jupiter dasha has the Badhakesha in A10: a change of job. The 2005 chart is checked before advising: a parivartana of the 1st and 7th lords with the Yogakaraka on lagna, and A9, A10 and A4 together — a material Raja Yoga. The deity for the year is taken from Moon and Venus.

George W. Bush — SCD D10 Analysis: 2004 Election & 2003 Iraq War

Sudarshan Chakra Dasha in D10 applied to George W. Bush, year by year, from the entry chart of each year. 2004–05: 58 years finished, 59th year, 11th house — Taurus / Libra / Libra. Mars dasha changes that: Mars is the 7th lord in the 3rd with lagna lord Venus and in the 11th from Arudha Lagna — a maraka for service but the karaka for business — so she must run her own business and not work for anyone. Female Bank Manager (1963) — Chaturashiti Sama Dasha, Saturn/Sun AD Career Trouble, Pearl over Ruby & Kali-Ganesha Remedy

A bank assistant manager is loaded with other people's work, troubled by her boss and gets no recognition. The 10th lord Sun is in the 10th, so Chaturāśīti-sama daśā is used. In the D-10 (Leo lagna, fifteen seconds from Cancer) Venus daśā is good in itself — 10th lord with 5th lord Jupiter in the 11th — but the Saturn and Sun antardaśās bring out Saturn sitting on the lagna lord Sun in the 10th, and Sun falls in the 12th from Venus. Moon's antardaśā gives relief and a change of place or boss; recognition peaks in Venus–Jupiter, 2013–14. The class then tests the remedies a student had given: Gaṇeśa and Kālī are confirmed, and pearl is preferred to ruby because the daśā lord Venus must accept the stone.

D4 (Chaturthamsa) = Primary Bhagya Chart (Not D9), Natural Years of Planets (Saturn=7/19, Mercury=36, Rahu=42-44) & Karaka Bhava Nashaya Controversy

The principles the teacher states while reading the 9th house verses. For Bhāgya the chart to see is the Chaturthamsa (D4): Parāśara named it when he defined the divisional charts, and fortune is measured by house, land and property; D2 is assets and wealth, navāṁśa is for the spouse. The 9th from Moon joins the 9th from lagna and from Sun as a reference for father: it shows the native's thoughts and emotions about father, so Saturn there brings sadness about father in Saturn’s periods. The odd ages in Parāśara’s verses may come from natural years of planets — Saturn 7 and 19, Rahu 16 and 18, Mercury 36, Rahu and Ketu 42–44 — but the list handed down is incomplete and the teacher says so. Kāraka bhāva nāśa is set aside as controversial when Sun sits in the 5th.

BPHS Ch.21 — 10th House Verses 14–21: Great Deeds, Fame (Moon in 10th + Artha Trikona), Handicapped Work (7th Malefic Blocks Partnerships)

BPHS Ch.21 (Karma Bhava) verses 14–21 and the closing verse, each read with its ārūḍha. v14: 10th lord exalted in a kendra or trikona with Jupiter = big deeds. v15: 10th lord with lagna lord in lagna and Moon in a kendra or trikona = deeply involved in good deeds; AL falls in the 10th and A10 in lagna; a student’s Cancer-lagna chart shows the same yoga arising indirectly through a parivartana. v16: Saturn with a debilitated planet in the 10th and a malefic in ‘karma amsa’ = no work; three readings of karma amsa, with no final view given. v17: 10th and 8th lords exchanged with a functional malefic = bad deeds or struggle in work, A10 in the 6th. v18: 10th lord debilitated with malefics in the 10th and 7th = handicapped work. v19–21: the three fame combinations, ending with A10 in the 8th from lagna but the 5th from AL.

BPHS Ch.22 — 11th House Begins: Great Gains (Verse 2), Gains Accumulated (Verse 3), Go-Getter Fortune by 36th Year (Verse 4) & Suryamsa = Leo (Not Combustion)

BPHS Ch.22 (Labha Bhava) begins; the class covers up to what the teacher calls verse 4. The opening verse: by the auspiciousness of the 11th house the native is always happy and comfortable. Great gains when the 11th lord is in the 11th, a kendra or trikona, exalted, or in Suryamsa. Santhanam reads Suryamsa as combustion; the teacher rejects that — ‘ga’ means placed in, ‘vā’ makes it one more alternative — and reads it as Leo amsa, probably in the shodasamsa, the chart of comfort. 11th lord in the 2nd with the 2nd lord in a kendra with Jupiter = large gains that accumulate, because A11 falls in the 2nd itself. 11th lord in the 3rd with benefics = 2000 nishkas in the 36th year: a go-getter with early success, the 11th lord linking two Kama Trikonas. No reason is given for the 36th year, and the combination is easy to find, so apply it with a pinch of salt.

Arudha Placement from Arudha Lagna (More Important than from Lagna), 7th House for Work Partnerships & Artha Trikonas (2-6-10) for Tangible Accomplishment

The working principles drawn from the 10th and 11th house verses of this class. The placement of an ārūḍha from Arudha Lagna is very important, perhaps more important than its placement from lagna: in a trine from AL it blesses the image; in the 8th from AL it upsets the image, or lifts it suddenly when well fortified, especially in the corresponding dasas. The worked case is the 10th lord in the 9th with lagna lord in the 10th — A10 in the 8th from lagna but the 5th from AL. The 7th house, the 10th from the 10th, shows working with others; afflicted, the person is alone. The Artha Trikonas 2-6-10 show work, resources, their use and what gets accomplished; the 10th lord in one of them links two and the person gets something done, just as the 11th lord in the 3rd links two Kama Trikonas. Entrepreneur Case (1960, Virgo Lagna) — Marriage/Accident/Factory/Stock Crash Timeline, Lagna Vimshottari vs Chandra Vimshottari & D16 for Public Transport Accidents

A student's father: a Virgo-lagna entrepreneur (born 1960) who bought a leather-chemical factory on borrowed money, recovered the investment, lost it in the stock market and had to sell the factory. The class tests each dated event against Lagna Vimshottari and Chandra Vimshottari and learns why both are kept: lagna is how you act on the world, Moon is how the world acts on you. Career is read from D10 (Scorpio lagna): lagna lord Mars with Saturn in the 8th makes a risk-taker with a rough ride; the factory comes in Rahu–Venus, the recovery and the fall in Jupiter dasha, the loss of the factory when Saturn dasha begins. The May 2000 crash is read from Hora, where Sun, the 12th lord in the 11th, is eclipsed by Rahu. Also taught: D16 covers accidents in a bus as much as in your own car; Jupiter in gandanta, karaka for diabetes; Saturn for arthritis; the Tithi Pravesha test for whether to start something new; real estate yes, stock market never; Hanuman Chalisa 54 times a day.

Example Chart (1983, Sagittarius Lagna) — Graha Malika Yoga (Spiritual Chain), Parivraj Yoga, Saturn Exalted in A9 for Career & L7 as Wife's Lagna

A Sagittarius-lagna chart (born 1983; the Vimshamsa lagna is Cancer) read across many vargas. Moon, the 8th lord, is in gandanta, so Moon dasha (2015–25) needs a remedy. All seven planets lie from the 9th to the 12th: a Graha Malika, a chain of giving from Jupiter and Ketu in the 12th through exalted Saturn and the Sun to four planets in the 9th, which is why planets 2nd and 12th from each other are not always bad. In the Navamsa three chara karakas are in marana karaka sthana from the Atmakaraka. Drig Dasha times the spiritual turn; the Vimshamsa gives Kula and Grama Devata from the 2nd and 4th. For money the Dasamsa says work first and business later, and the Hora says leave the stock market (Mercury is a killer) for Saturn’s fields: oil, steel, commodities. The 10th lord with three planets, not four, is an interest in renunciation, not sannyasa. Marriage is timed with Vimshottari, Narayana Dasha and two Tithi Pravesha charts; wife, children and parents are read from L7, D-7 and D-12.

CA Exam Chart (1984, Leo Lagna) — D24 6th House for Competitive Exams (Not 9th), AL+A5 Yoga in Gemini & Mercury Sub-Period May–July 2009 as Target Window

A B.Com and MBA graduate has failed the Chartered Accountancy final for two years and asks which deity to pray to. The teacher reads the whole education from D24 (Aries lagna): the bachelor's degree from the 9th house, the master's from the 2nd (6th from the 9th), and a competitive exam taken for one's livelihood from the 6th, with the 10th as support. The 9th lord Jupiter in the 6th ties the exam to the B.Com; the 6th lord Mercury, kāraka of accounting, in the 8th with the 8th lord gives a Vipareeta Rāja Yoga — hard work, then success. Timing uses three tools together: the Narayana daśā of D24 (Gemini, holding AL and A5 — success before February 2010), the nakshatra daśā that applies when the 10th lord is in the 10th (Venus–Sun–Mercury, about April–July 2009), and the D24 of two Tithi Praveśa years (2008 mixed, 2009 strong). He puts 20–25% on the coming attempt and 70–75% on next year, shows how to say that to the client, and prescribes the Viṣṇu Sahasranāma with sampuṭīkaraṇa for Mercury.

Son's Career Chart (1992) — D24 Mars+Sun in 9th (Surgery/Mechanical/Chemical), D10 Venus Exalted in 10th (Luxury Sector) & Rahu AMK = Research

A father asks which field his teenage son should choose for college; the son is sure only that it is not engineering. The teacher calls it short-sighted to pick a degree from D24 alone and finds the career in D10 first. In D10 (Gemini lagna) exalted Venus in the 10th contends with Mars in his own sign in the 6th. Because the 10th lord Jupiter is debilitated in the 8th and A10 falls in the 6th, Mars is judged the primary career and Venus–Jupiter a secondary one that may bring fame. Mars means making things — mechanical, chemical, civil, automobile, hardware — or surgery; not software or abstract engineering. Venus, Moon, Sun and Rahu add medicine with research. D24 confirms it: Mars and Sun in the 9th house of the bachelor's degree. The advice is medicine if he will take it, otherwise mechanical, chemical or automobile engineering, with Venus pointing to luxury cars later.

Example Chart (1975, Gemini Lagna) — D10 Rectification Tested by Events and Dropped, Navamsha Verification, Saturn in AL = Status Trouble & Contract Work Safer than Employment

A software engineer’s chart (1975, Gemini lagna) brought with a career question. The teacher suspects the D-10 lagna should be Leo, not Cancer, and the D-9 lagna Sagittarius, not Scorpio, and tests both against the marriage (December 2001) and the first job (March 2002) using Chaturaśīti-sama daśā, the 2001 Tithi Praveśa chart and Narayana daśā. The annual chart and the Scorpio Narayana daśā of the navāṁśa both support the time as given, so nothing is changed: Scorpio D-9 and Cancer D-10 stand. The year is then read: Sun–Saturn antardaśā (July 2007 – April 2009) with Saturn, the 8th lord, in the ārūḍha lagna of D-10 is bad for status and brings trouble with bosses, and the 2008 Tithi Praveśa confirms a bad year for service — she had just been given notice. Advice: short-term contract work, a good window from September 12 to December 16, a possible shock after that, and worship of Venkaṭeśvara for Saturn and Rahu.

BPHS Ch.24 — 3rd Lord in Houses 10–12: Self-Made Man (10H), Kama Trikona Synergy = Business Gains (11H) & 3rd House = Fall of Dharma (12H = Adharmic Spending)

BPHS chapter 24, verses 34–36. 3rd lord in the 10th: he spends heavily on comforts (aspects the 4th and is the 12th lord from it), is self-made (initiative placed in career; the 6th lord from the 10th in the 10th), and keeps adharmic company (the 9th lord from the 7th falls in the 8th from his own house, ruining the dharma of relationships — not only with women). 3rd lord in the 11th: one kāma trikoṇa lord in another gives profit in business; a break in education but strong intelligence (12th lord from the 4th in the 8th, 11th lord from the 5th in the 7th); boldness (lord in the 9th from his house); and voluntary service that counts as a social accomplishment (6th lord from the 10th in the 2nd). 3rd lord in the 12th: money spent on bad work, because the 3rd is the 7th from the 9th, the fall of dharma; a cold, ruthless father (10th taken for father: 6th lord in the 3rd); and fortune advanced through loose relationships, not through marriage.

Example Chart (1992, Aquarius Lagna) — Pilot vs FBI Analysis (Amsa-Based), Ketu the 6th Lord in Yama Amsa = Intelligence Work, D24 Humanities/Law & Sadhaka Phase 2015-23

A teenager choosing between pilot and FBI agent. In the D-10 (Gemini lagna) the 10th lord Jupiter is debilitated in the 8th while Mars sits in his own sign in the 6th with A10, so the 6th house and Mars give the career. The teacher questions the traditional Sun-for-pilots rule and reads the job by function (Mars, with Mercury), then lets the dikpāla amśas decide: Mars is in Īśāna amśa, while the 6th co-lord Ketu is in Yama amśa and the exalted lagna lord Mercury, aspecting the 10th, is in Nirṛti amśa — FBI is the better choice. Saturn daśā makes him a ground-level operative; Mercury daśā, from about age 45, an analyst in a central office. A bad Jupiter–Mercury antardaśā for studies is used to move the D-24 lagna from Gemini to Cancer; the rectified D-24 and its Narayana daśā show a bachelor’s degree in humanities or law and a doubtful master’s. The class ends with a Viṣṇu remedy and a predicted sādhaka period in 2015–2023.

10th House = Character AND Conduct in Society (Not Just Career), 8th House = Other People's Money (2nd from 7th) & Upachaya from Material Houses = Accumulation

The principles behind the 5th-lord verses, collected. Take any house as lagna and see what the planet owns and occupies from there and where he has argala. The 10th house is not only work: it is the basic character and conduct of the person in the world, so the 8th lord from the 10th with argala on it puts spots on behaviour, and benefics in the 10th from lagna and Moon give Amala Yoga. The 8th house is the 2nd from the 7th: other people’s money that becomes yours. The lord of one upachaya in another upachaya shows accumulation, of money when counted from the 2nd, of easy money from the 8th, of work from the 10th.

BPHS Ch.24 — 6th Lord in Houses 10–12: Famous + Good Orator + Happy Abroad (10H), Wealth by Fighting + No Children Happiness (11H) & Spends on Addictions + Harms Living Beings (12H)

The last three placements of the 6th lord, each result derived by counting from the house concerned. In the 10th: famous in his circle (9th lord in lagna from the 10th; 5th lord in the 9th from the 2nd of family), disobedient to father (4th lord in the 8th from the 3rd, which is the 7th from the 9th), a good orator (5th lord in the 9th from the 2nd) and happy abroad (7th lord in the 11th from the 12th). In the 11th: wealth from enemies, which means wealth won after a long fight and not a windfall; virtuous, bold and respected; but no happiness from children, because from the 5th he is the 2nd lord in the 7th, a clear māraka, and from the 11th (relationship with children) he is the 8th lord in lagna. In the 12th: always spending on vices, since the 6th is the enemy within and the 12th is expense; hostile to learning (2nd lord in the 8th from the 5th); and harmful to living beings (12th lord in the 6th from the 7th). PVNR adds that this last placement is also a viparīta yoga and can give good results after suffering.

Example Chart (1983, Leo Lagna) — Narayana Dasha Career: Pachakadi Relationships (Pachaka/Bodhaka/Karaka/Vedhaka) & Kalachakra 8-Spoke System (Indira Gandhi: Death, Power, Sanjay)

A student asks whether Narayana Dasha shows a permanent position at work. The teacher has him read the natal chart from the progressed lagna before the period entry chart, split the Libra dasha in three parts, and then move to the Dasamsa Narayana Dasha: Aries, the 2nd house, holding A6 — fights at the workplace and permanent service, not business. Vimshottari is then read in the Dasamsa: Ketu, 9th lord in the 11th, with antardashas ranked Venus, Sun, Moon and then Mars and Jupiter as the good ones. Pachakadi Sambandha (Pachaka ripens, Bodhaka explains, Karaka executes, Vedhaka obstructs) explains why Venus gave a break and why the Sun antardasha troubles the 9th house — boss and guidance. The class ends with the Kalachakra of a Tithi Pravesha chart, an axle and eight spokes, used only to confirm what the divisional charts show; four years of Indira Gandhi’s life are the examples.

BPHS Ch.24 — 7th Lord in Houses 10–12: Wife Independent + Very Dharmic + Wealthy + Many Children (10H), Wealth from Marriage + Limited Children + Daughters (11H) & Business Losses + Miserly + Wife Spendthrift + Cloth Merchant (12H)

Parashara's results for the 7th lord in the 10th, 11th and 12th houses, each derived by taking the relevant house as lagna. In the 10th: a wife not under his control (from the 7th, lagna lord in the 4th aspecting the 10th — she pursues her own happiness and career), a dharmic native (Argala on the 9th; 11th lord in the 2nd from the 9th), wealth (6th lord in the 9th from the 2nd) and children after early trouble (3rd lord in the 6th from the 5th, a Viparita Raja Yoga). In the 11th: wealth after marriage (9th lord in lagna from the 11th), little happiness from children (3rd lord in the 7th from the 5th) and daughters, where the teacher says the logic for gender is uncertain. VE7 Special Lagna Research (PVNR, ~80% Accuracy): 7th from VE7 Must Link to Lagna in Marriage Dasha, Verified in Vimshottari + Tithi Pravesh + Tajaka Muddha Dasha & Business D10: A7 in 3H + A3 in 7H = Arudha Exchange for Commerce

VE7 is an experimental special lagna: it starts from the rising of Venus and moves seven times as fast as lagna, as Horā Lagna uses 2 and Ghaṭī Lagna uses 5. The rule under test: the 7th house from VE7 must be linked to lagna by the daśā or antardaśā that brings marriage. The teacher finds it in about 80% of charts and says plainly that it is research, not infallible, and usable in the rāśi chart only, since VE7 changes sign every 17 minutes. The example (born 1950, married March 24, 1973) is worked in the natal chart with Mercury–Saturn, in the 1972 Tithi Praveśa chart, and in the Tājaka chart with Mudda daśā. The class then reads the same native’s business from D-10: A7 in the 3rd and A3 in the 7th, the kāma trikoṇa lords converging on the 11th, the Moon daśā antardaśā by antardaśā, the running year’s Tithi Praveśa chart, and Durgā for the Rāhu antardaśā.

BPHS Ch.24 — 9th Lord in Houses 10–12: King/Minister Status + Dharma-Karma Link (10H), Daily Profits + A9 in Lagna = Perceived as Dharmic (11H) & Fortune Spent on Dharma + Good for Moksha (12H)

Verses 106–108 (chapter 24 in the Santhanam edition). 9th lord in the 10th: a king, minister or their equal, virtuous and honoured — the most important trine linked to the most important quadrant; not Dharma-Karma Yoga by name but equivalent to it, and probably better than the 9th lord in the 9th. 9th lord in the 11th: gains day after day, and devotion to gurus that takes the form of work, because the planet is in the 3rd from the 9th; he has argala on lagna and A9 falls in lagna, so dharma is part of the personality. 9th lord in the 12th: fortune is lost, money goes on auspicious work and on guests, even to poverty — yet the teacher calls it a good combination for dharma and mokṣa, because being able to give something up is a great thing.

Two charts read in class on 4 May 2009. The 1969 native has boss trouble, has just hit a cyclist and been taken to court, and wants to move back to India. The teacher chooses Ṣaṣṭihāyanī daśā over Śatābdikā by testing it on past events, then reads Sun–Moon varga by varga: in D-10 the Moon is the debilitated 5th lord in the 9th with Rahu and the 8th lord Venus (boss trouble, loss of peace); in D-4 he is the 5th lord in lagna (pull to the motherland) but eclipsed by the 12th lord Rahu; in D-16 he is the debilitated 6th lord in A8 (vehicle accident); in D-6 he is the 11th lord in the 6th (a court case he can win). Two Tithi Praveśa charts rectify the birth time by 30 seconds and place the likely closure of the case in the Mars period, September 2009 — Harṣa Yoga. The 1955 native faces a layoff round: in the annual D-10 the year lord Mars is the 6th lord in the 7th — loss of service — and his period runs 8 June to 4 July 2009. The coming Mercury daśā (8th lord exalted in the 8th, lord of ārūḍha lagna) is judged good after an unsettled start.

BPHS Ch.24 — 10th Lord in Houses 1–3: Scholar Who Applies Knowledge + "Poet" Lives His Work + Money Grows Daily (1H), Genuinely Wealthy + Socially Graceful + Charitable (2H) & Works with Siblings + Brave from Duty + Eloquent (3H)

The verses on the 10th lord in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd houses, each result derived by taking the house concerned as lagna. In lagna: a scholar who puts his knowledge to use (the 6th lord from the 5th in a trine from the 5th), famous, with enough resources for his work and the habit of spending them (the 9th lord from the 2nd, in the 12th from the 2nd), a "poet" in the sense of a man who lives his work, sick in childhood, and gaining all his life (the 12th lord from the 11th in the 3rd from it). In the 2nd: actually wealthy, well-mannered and smooth of speech (argalā on lagna, not dharma), honoured by the powerful, a free giver, and happy in his family. In the 3rd: working alongside siblings, lucky with servants, brave out of duty and not desire, and dharmic, eloquent and truthful because he aspects the 9th house.

BPHS Ch.24 — 10th Lord in Houses 4–6: Focus on Mother/Property/Vehicles + Very Wealthy (4H), All-Round Scholar + Children Assist in Work (5H), Clever Fighter + Possible BPHS Textual Error for Wealth (6H) & 12th Lord in 3/6/8 = Viparita-Like Yoga

The verses on the 10th lord in the 4th, 5th and 6th houses. In the 4th the work centres on the mother, vehicles, land and houses; the "virtue" is social polish, from argalā on lagna; and the person is very wealthy, because the 9th lord counted from the 2nd aspects the 9th from the 2nd. In the 5th he is an all-round scholar, cheerful, wealthy, and his children help in his work. In the 6th he is uncomfortable with his father (the 8th lord from the 3rd in the 4th from the 3rd), clever at fighting obstacles (the 5th lord from the 6th in the 6th) and still troubled by enemies. The teacher cannot derive "devoid of wealth" for the 6th and concludes the verse has a wrong word. The page also gives the rule he uses twice: the 12th lord from any house, placed in the 3rd, 6th or 8th from it, is a Viparīta Rāja yoga for that house.

Parāśara’s results for the 10th lord in the 7th, 8th and 9th houses (the teacher reads them from Chapter 24), each explained by counting from the house concerned. In the 7th: marital happiness (4th lord in lagna from the 7th), a compassionate mind, a talker more than an eloquent speaker, and a man who carries out his dharma (2nd lord in the 11th from the 9th). In the 8th: the verse says jobless, but the placement also gives argala on the 10th, so read a rocky career or a workaholic and never tell anyone he will have no job; long life; and a man who picks fights (5th lord in the 3rd from the 6th). In the 9th: a king or the equal of a king — the lord of karma in the house of dharma — with fortune in general, and better still when the 9th and 10th lords are together.

BPHS Ch.24 — 10th Lord in Houses 10–12: Harsha+Sarala Yoga = Master of All Work + Truthful (10H), Wealthy Family + Cheerful + Business Indicator (11H), Skillful but Anxious/Unconfident (12H) & Free Will vs Destiny: Natal = Pre-Birth Karma, Current Action = Completely Yours

The 10th lord in the 10th, 11th and 12th houses. In the 10th he gives Harṣa yoga counted from the 5th house of skills (6th lord in the 6th) and Sarala yoga counted from the 3rd house of valour (8th lord in the 8th): a master of all work, bold, truthful, devoted to gurus. In the 11th the 2nd house flourishes (9th lord in the 10th from it), the man is cheerful because a kendra lord aspects the 5th, and the placement suits business — but his happiness is peace of mind, not 4th-house ease. In the 12th: expenses on account of work or the ruler, constant dealings with enemies, and skill without confidence (6th lord in the 8th from the 5th; 8th lord in the 10th from the 3rd). The page then gives the teacher’s position on free will: the horoscope codes karma up to birth, current action is in your hands and is not in the chart, prasna carries the karma done since birth, and the way to act is to do your best and hand the act to Krishna.

The lagna is at 15° Aries, on a hora border, where the lagna of every even varga changes at once; the teacher settles it with D24 (Leo lagna puts Mercury and Mars in the 9th — computers and electronics) and D4 (Libra lagna explains going abroad in Jupiter–Saturn), which fixes the Daśāṁśa lagna as Virgo. In Daśāṁśa the antardaśā lord Saturn is 5th lord in lagna — pūrva-puṇya, the key to a first job — and the Tithi Praveśa narrows it to June 23 – August 1, 2009. The strong 3rd, 7th and 11th houses of the Daśāṁśa point to consulting or business later in Jupiter daśā. The four planets in the 8th house are then tested through D9, D10, D6, D30 and D20: not ill health but hard work and sādhanā, with Leo Dṛg daśā (2036–44) as the period of experience and Veṅkaṭeśvara as the deity.

In the 11th: gains in everything, scholarship, and happiness that grows daily (8th lord in the 8th from the 4th). In the 12th: spending on dharma or as smart investment, kāmuka, many wives, gains with a foreign element — and the student's question whether a man who pursues many women can still be called dharmic. The page then explains why the 10th house is Indrasthana: it shows the overall relationship with the senses, mastery or succumbing, not the physical sense organs; the 6th, the 9th from the 10th, holds the ariṣaḍvargas.

The teacher counts houses from a planet by longitude: the planet's longitude starts the 1st house, and each house is the next 30°. In the rasi chart Mercury is at 18°51' Cancer and the dasha lord Jupiter at 17° Leo, so Jupiter falls at the end of the 1st house from Mercury, not in the 2nd. In the D-24 Mercury sits at the very start of Libra, whole signs serve, and Jupiter in the 12th as 3rd and 6th lord gives a Viparita Raja Yoga for education: struggle, then results better than expected. The 4th and 9th lord Venus is in the 5th and vargottama but combust, under 7° from the Sun, so education is the weak side of the chart and Jupiter dasha (till 2018) runs on and off. Mars is the strong planet: 10th lord in the 3rd in Aries aspecting the 10th, amatyakaraka, own sign in rasi, navamsa and dasamsa, Paravatamsa, Shadbala 127%. Because the lagna is vargottama, Shatabdika Dasha applies; reckoned from lagna it gives Mars dasha from 2017 to 2037, which the teacher calls the glorious period of the life. His advice: take a Martian field such as engineering, do not lose heart over grades, and prepare for 2017. Rasi has six planets on the 4th–10th axis, with the 4th lord Sun in gaṇḍānta half a degree from Ketu, yet sitting at the entry of his own house and separating from Ketu. The D-24 lagna is on a border; Saturn daśā gave top-of-class schooling, which fits Cancer (Saturn with lagna lord Moon, yogakāraka from the 4th), so the time moves from 11:37 to 11:36 PM. Taurus against Aries rasi lagna is settled by his speech and temperament and by the father seen in D-12. In D-24 Sun, 2nd lord with Rahu and Ketu, aspects the 9th of the bachelor's degree; in D-10 Rahu in his own 2nd house is aspected by Sun and Ketu from the 8th. The same Sun–Rahu–Ketu combination in three charts points to surgery, with math possible but not career-defining. Saturn, the 7th lord, is in the 1st house, so Dwisaptati Sama Dasha applies alongside Vimshottari (the name is garbled in the recording; it is the 72-year dasha, not a “Jyotsna Samvatsara”). In the Dasamsa (Virgo lagna) Venus and Saturn, 9th and 5th lords, form a Raj yoga in the 2nd house, but the debilitated 12th lord Sun sits with them and breaks it: his dasha (2002 to May 2011) brings losses and compromises, triggered in the antardasha of Jupiter, who is lord of the 2nd from the 6th house of service and in Marana Karaka Sthana. The class first tests the data: the time zone (6h east of GMT kept, 5:30 tried by students) and a 4-minute earlier time that would make the navamsa lagna Virgo; it settles on 4:45 or 4:44 because the D-10 then puts Mercury in the 10th house. Marriage on Jan 21, 2001 in Jupiter–Jupiter is explained from three lagnas in the Libra navamsa: from Lagna Jupiter is 6th lord in the 6th (Harsha yoga); from exalted Venus he is lagna lord in lagna aspecting the 7th and its lord; from the Moon he is in the 7th house. The 2000 Tithi Pravesha (hora lord Mars, Venus dasha) is read alongside, and the teacher says plainly that it does not fall fully into place. A health chart given as 5:30 AM ± 5 minutes, with the navāṁśa lagna about to change 20 seconds later. The marriage of October 1961 is tested in three daśās: Śatābdika from the vargottama lagna gives Mercury–Moon (Upapada lord and 9th lord, with the 10th lord Moon in the navāṁśa), Vimśottarī gives Mercury–Saturn (Saturn aspects the 7th in rāśi and sits in the 7th from lagna and Venus in the navāṁśa), while Ṣaṣṭihāyanī gives Jupiter–Jupiter and is dropped. The daśāṁśa then moves the time back to 5:28: at 5:30 the 10th lord is the Sun with Rāhu, a surgeon; at 5:28 the 10th lord Moon joins the 9th lord Mercury — the Vaiśya planets, a salesman with a good career. In the D-10 (Sagittarius lagna) the job came in Rahu-Rahu-Jupiter, Jupiter being lagna lord in the 6th aspecting the 10th, and went in the pratyantara of Saturn, the 3rd lord in the 3rd. Mercury, the 10th lord, can give a job next, and Rahu-Jupiter should give both the degree and the job. The D-24 favours further study under Jupiter and Mercury, but the nodes on the 10th axis of the D-10 and Rahu as 10th lord of the D-24 point to computers and electronics, not civil engineering. The Tithi Praveśa of 2009–10 shows the marriage: 7th lord Mercury, 9th lord Sun and Ketu together in the 7th house. The D-7 promises a child in Rahu daśā through the Rahu-Venus rāja yoga, the navāṁśa warns of friction in Rahu daśā, and the D-20 with Venus and Moon in the 4th under exalted Jupiter shows a clear spiritual direction.

BPHS Ch.33, verses 1-11: the results of the sign the Ātmakāraka occupies in a divisional chart (Kārakāṁśa). The teacher's main point is that an unnamed aṁśa is not navāṁśa by default; the aṁśa is deduced from the kind of result — D-10 for profession, D-4 or D-16 for animals and comfort, D-30 for disease and danger, D-20 for mokṣa. He also holds that aṁśa and aṁśaka mean the same thing, and that both K.N. Rao's and Sanjay Rath's readings of Kārakāṁśa are partial. BPHS chapter 33, verses 12 to 22: the results of planets in Karkamsa, the sign the Atmakaraka occupies in a divisional chart. Parashara does not name the chart; pick it by the matter (Navamsa for marriage and dharma, Dasamsa for work, D24 for knowledge, D30 for evils). The class reads each planet in turn: Atmakaraka in a varga of Moon, Mars or Venus, then Sun, full Moon, strong Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. The teacher insists that Karkamsa gives the instinct and the vasanas, not the profession, which is read from Lagna; and that the Atmakaraka in the lagna of a divisional chart makes the person fortunate in that area. It ends with Sun and Rahu together in Karkamsa, read in D30: fear of snakes, a doctor if they are in benefic shadvargas, and fire when Mars alone aspects, which Mercury or Venus prevents and Jupiter cannot prevent in a malefic sign.

The class first repairs the birth time: the saved time gives Capricorn D-10, which does not make an accountant, so it is moved a few seconds back to Sagittarius D-10 with 7th and 10th lord Mercury in the lagna sign. The lagna is vargottama, so Satabdika daśā is used: Mars 1989–2009, Saturn from June 2009. Reading the D-10 by bhava, Mars is 5th lord in the 7th house, debilitated with nīcabhaṅga, and lord of A7 — the daśā of business and partnership. What the 30-year Saturn daśā holds for the same accountant, read in D-10. Saturn is a functional malefic (2nd and 3rd lord) in the 1st house from Arudha Lagna: the image falls. He is debilitated and retrograde with nīcabhaṅga, which for a functional malefic means a mixed period, not a terrible one. Jagannatha Hora’s quantified aspects show Mars 97% and Saturn 80% on the 11th from AL, so money still comes while status drops. Pratyantar timing inside Saturn–Saturn: Sun (first half of 2012) good, Moon as 8th lord (second half of 2012 to first half of 2013) a possible fall, Mars (2016–18) a possible new venture. Verdict: an okay move, not a great one; the Mars daśā was his best.

A chartered accountant (Leo lagna, vargottama, so Śatābdikā daśā) joined a mining company in February 2010 and resigned on 15 May. A friend now offers him his 30-year-old consulting firm. Everything is read in the Daśāṁśa (lagna 29° Sagittarius), by longitude. The setback came in Saturn–Saturn–Mercury: Mercury is the 10th lord in the 12th, the 6th lord from Saturn, and transit Rāhu was passing over his Daśāṁśa longitude — the teacher's rule being that a transit on a daśā lord's natal position in any varga colours the period. Jupiter's pratyantara from 9 July is better. The friend's offer: the 12th from A11 is the friend giving something up; A9 and A5 fall there, on the 7th cusp, with Saturn's full aspect, so it brings fortune — accept. Partners: Saturn is in the 12th from A7, a rājayoga for A7, so partners are fine, formalized after 10 July. Saturn in the Ārūḍha Lagna means average, not spectacular, business. Then the day's verses are applied from the Ātmakāraka Moon in the Daśāṁśa, the Amātyakāraka Jupiter is judged, the 6th from him (Mars and Ketu) gives the purpose, and Mars with the nodes in Āśleṣā under Jupiter's exact aspect gives Subrahmaṇya as the deity.

The four Purusharthas map to the elements: dharma to the fire signs, artha to earth, kama to air, moksha to water. A house (bhava, "meaning") shows the intangible; its ārūḍha pada ("word") shows the tangible — the learning against the degree, the wish to do business against the company. The case is a mechanical engineer born in 1960 whose power-systems business is in debt. In D24 the 9th lord Saturn is debilitated in a sign of Mars and aspected by Mars, and Mars aspects A9: Mars with Saturn gives mechanical engineering. In D10 the 6th lord is poorly placed while the 3rd, 7th and 11th are linked through Ketu, Mars and Jupiter, so he is made for business; Rahu with A7 makes big machinery the right field, but A7 in the 12th from lagna holds the business back and points to a foreign angle.

Timing the same business through Vimshottari. It began in Mars daśā — 7th lord in the 3rd of D10. Rahu daśā (from September 2007) is the 10th lord placed, by degree, in the 12th house: a functionally neutral planet in A7 that keeps the business going without letting it flourish, and as 8th lord of D2 he brings the long debt. Rahu–Jupiter (May 2010 to October 2012) is better — Jupiter in own sign, 11th from A7, in a rāja yoga with the lagna lord in D2 — but Jupiter is Rahu's enemy, so the gain is modest. Rahu–Saturn (2012–15) is the yogakaraka and Rahu's friend, and is when the teacher expects the major improvement. Remedies: an hour of Durga worship every Friday for Rahu, which also covers health since Rahu is a māraka in lagna; Krishna worship from the 6th from Amatyakaraka for clarity of mission.

The cardiologist's marriage on 27 August 1998 came in Moon daśā, Jupiter antardaśā of the navāṁśa Viṁśottarī. In D4 (lagna and Moon in Libra) Mars and Rahu are in the 9th; from Sun the 9th lord and bādhaka lord Moon is in the 12th and the 12th lord Venus in the 9th. A link between the 9th, the 12th and the bādhaka sthāna from all three references shows a person who flourishes far from his birthplace. D10 (Taurus lagna): the lagna is empty and aspected only by the 8th lord Jupiter, an enemy of the lagna lord, at about 90%; lagna lord Venus is within 3° of the 4th lord Sun, combust by an enemy. The 10th is not bad — its lords Rahu and Saturn are both touched by Jupiter, but Saturn is in a friendly sign — so the weak lagna and lagna lord are the cause of an unstable career, and a 10th lord’s dasha gave nothing because the chart itself is weak. True nodes are those points as they stand at the moment; mean nodes are the same points averaged over time so that they are always retrograde.
