Career Advice and the Coming Periods

Business or service

• Now running: Jupiter–Ketu. The Mercury antardaśā is over. Ketu is in the 9th house but is the 8th lord. There is a chance of a break in the career within the next year. "Don't worry about whatever happens in the next one year. After one year, a good period will come."
• Jupiter–Venus: June 2013 to February 2016, almost three years.
  • From Jupiter as lagna (Aquarius), Venus is the yogakāraka, the 9th lord in the 9th.
  • From the lagna, Venus is in the 7th house in his own sign.
  • This period is good for establishing her own business. Even though the first attempt failed, there is a good chance it works this time.
• Advice: use the next year to prepare the ground. Then start a venture of her own, or at least work as a consultant.

What kind of business

Venus and Mercury are together in the 7th house, the house of business. The teacher lists every possibility, including ones far from her present work:

• Venus in Libra: things of taste and beauty — ornaments, jewellery, clothes, decorative items, luxury goods, home decoration.
• Venus can show management. With Mercury, the intellectual planet: programme-management services or consulting.
• Mercury–Venus can show sales: a firm that offers marketing services.
• Mars aspects them, and Mercury can show high technology: online marketing, marketing tools.

"My pick would be some kind of marketing services, targeted marketing services in some technical sectors."

• Whether exactly that or a variation suits her, she is the best judge.
• A student notes that Rāhu also aspects the 7th house. The teacher agrees: the same Rāhu made her do sales support.

The dissatisfaction is lifelong

• The lagna lord Mars and the 5th lord Sun are together in the 12th house. It is a rāja yoga, but in the house of compromise and dissatisfaction. Her career is unstable. With the lagna lord in the 12th it is better to go abroad — she already has.
• The 10th lord Saturn aspects them from Virgo. Mars–Saturn and Sun–Saturn yogas are "not really very pleasant yogas".
• "This is something that will be there for the whole life. It is not a temporary thing based on the daśā."
• The current Jupiter daśā is not a bad one. Jupiter is in the bādhaka sthāna (the 11th for Aries) but he is the 9th lord. "This is a pretty good daśā."
• So do not expect a big jump in money, happiness or comfort in the career. It stays close to what it is now.
• Money does improve in Jupiter–Venus: Venus is the 2nd lord, Jupiter is in the 11th, and from Jupiter Venus is the 9th lord in the 9th. Finances and career should be better for three years starting next year.

Answers to her questions

• Engineering or marketing? The Daśāṁśa has no strong sign of technical work. Mercury, the 6th lord with a three-quarter aspect on the 10th, could take her into technical work during his antardaśā, and that period is over. Venus is very strong, and the 10th house carries the Moon and Saturn. That shows sales and marketing, plus a great deal of routine: even owning a business she will handle all its nitty-gritty herself. "Instead of continuing engineering, go back to marketing, technical marketing."
• Best source of income? The 2nd house of the rāśi chart is Scorpio. Its lord Mars is the Daśāṁśa lagna lord. So the career is a good source of income, and a better time comes later.
• Expectations. Do not expect to become a millionaire from the business. It will be a decent business with a decent stream of income.

"Have slightly lowered expectations and stick to business."

Remedy — Lakshmi and Vishnu

• Two things stand out in the Daśāṁśa: Venus–Mercury in the 7th, and the Sun–Mars rāja yoga in the 12th. The remedy is taken from Venus–Mercury.
• Mercury is the key planet:
  • 6th lord from the lagna, in the 7th.
  • Dispositor of the 10th lord Saturn.
  • The Amātyakāraka is the Moon. Mercury is the 6th lord from the Amātyakāraka, which makes him the pālana devatā.
  • 6th lord from the Moon, 6th lord from the Amātyakāraka, 6th lord from the lagna, and joined with Venus in Venus's own sign.
• Mercury is Viṣṇu: Viṣṇu Sahasranāma is the best thing for Mercury. He is with Venus: Lakṣmī.
• A student adds that in the rāśi chart Mercury is the 9th lord in the 10th house. The teacher: "So it is very good."

The prayer

• Daily: Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara Śatanāma Stotram, then Viṣṇu Sahasranāma Stotram, then Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara again.
• Lakṣmī Aṣṭottara is about 14 verses and Viṣṇu Sahasranāma about 108 main verses: 14 + 108 + 14 = 136 verses, some 20–25 minutes.

"Worshipping Lakṣmī and Viṣṇu is really, really good for her. This is the best thing she can do."
