Birth Time Rectification via Navamsa

A recorded birth time always has a window, and the dependable way to close it is to test known events against the divisional charts. The Navamsa lagna holds a sign for about 14 minutes, so the first check is how close it is to a border. In the example, an 8:15 PM chart with Aries Navamsa cannot explain divorce proceedings in Venus antardasha; three minutes earlier, with Pisces Navamsa, Venus is the 8th lord sitting in A8 and Saturn in Upapada explains the marriage. The page also separates 7th house, A7, Upapada and 7th from Arudha Lagna, and gives the 8th-from-7th rule for a second marriage.

Marriage Analysis — Sanjay Gandhi's Navamsa (D9)

In the Rasi the 7th lord Moon is in the 8th, his Marana Karaka Sthana, which reads as poor marital happiness. The Navamsa corrects it: when the 7th is afflicted in Rasi but strong in Navamsa, the trouble is in general relations with people, not with the wife. A strong 7th in Navamsa shows a strong marriage and wife; the native's own happiness in it is read from the Navamsa lagna and 4th house. The trines of the Navamsa show God-given abilities. The wife is read by taking the 7th as lagna, and what is seen is the spouse as the native sees her, not the whole truth about her.

Children Analysis — Sanjay Gandhi's Saptamsha (D7)

Children from the Saptamsa. The first child is the 5th house, the next the 7th, then the 9th, counted forward from an odd lagna and backward from an even one; the sign holding that house's lord becomes the child's lagna. Rahu and Ketu stop the flow when the count meets them. In Sanjay Gandhi's Saptamsa the count reaches Pisces, with Jupiter in own sign and Rahu beside him: one child likely. The son is then read from Pisces. Male or female is judged from the sign (with Gemini, Cancer, Aquarius and Pisces reversed), the planets there, and exaltation or debilitation.

D7 Saptamsha — Analyzing Children & Siblings

How to find each child in D7 (Saptamsa): count forward from an odd Lagna and backward from an even one, take the 5th for the first child and the 3rd from there for the next, then go to the sign holding that house's lord. The three principles for a son or a daughter, and how Rahu and Ketu end the series unless a strong planet overrides them. PVNR works it on his own D7 — daughter from Venus in Taurus, son from Jupiter in Sagittarius — then times events from his dasha, judges overall happiness with children from the 5th lord, and reads his relationship with each child from the Lagna lord. D3 for siblings follows the same counting, but he suspects it has missing links.

Marriage Year Analysis — TP & Navamsa Convergence

Confirming a marriage year using the Tithi Pravesha (TP) chart of 1989 and its Navamsa: Venus is the Hora Lord of the year and its 7th lord, the lagna lord in the 7H of the TP Navamsa with Ketu, and the Upapada lord. When the ruler of the year, the 7th house and the Navamsa all point to the same planet, the year of marriage can be called with confidence — the exact sub-period is harder.

Marriage Timing — Rectification via Annual Chart & Upada

A birth time uncertain by 20 minutes is rectified from one event: marriage on December 8, 1986, in Ketu dasha, Venus antardasha. With the given time the navamsa lagna is Sagittarius, Venus is 6th and 11th lord and cannot give marriage, and the navamsa of that year’s Tithi Pravesha shows no marriage. Twelve minutes earlier, the annual navamsa has the 7th lord in lagna, a Jupiter–Venus parivartana, Venus in Upada in rasi and Ketu in Upada in navamsa; the natal navamsa lagna becomes Scorpio, where Ketu is lagna co-lord and Venus the exalted 7th lord. The 7th house is the relationship, Upada the formal marriage; Venus is the karaka of marriage for love, Ketu of marriage for the lineage.

D7 Children, Palana Devata & Curses from Past Life

One child read from a parent’s Saptamsha: count to the 5th sign (backward for an even lagna) for the first child, then take the sign occupied by its lord as that child’s lagna. Done on the annual chart, where the child’s lagna in the 8th shows the parent missing him, and on the natal chart, where four planets in a kendra give Parivrajya Yoga and Saturn, Venus and Ketu give Tapasya Yoga. Palana Devata, the deity of livelihood, is the 6th from the Amatyakaraka in navamsa. D7 Saptamsha — Children & Grandchildren

With an even D-7 lagna the children are counted backward from the 5th, and the sign holding the lord of each child's sign is that child's lagna: Leo with Jupiter and Ketu for the first, Sagittarius with Saturn for the second, which gives the two boys their different natures. Rahu met in the count ends the line; here Rahu stands between the two signs, and the second son is born only because Jupiter, in a friend's sign, aspects the sign beyond him. The first son's future spouse is read from the Upapada counted from his lagna and the grandchildren from the 9th from that Upapada, with the native's own dashas read from those lagnas.

Marriage Analysis — John Kerry's Navamsa (D9)

John Kerry's Navamsa marriage analysis (birth time rectified from 8:03 to 8:08 AM), timed with Dwi-Saptati Sama Dasha. Sun, 7th lord in the Navamsa lagna → first marriage in Sun-Sun, May 1970. Moon (6th lord in the 7th) and Jupiter (2nd lord = 8th from the 7th) → separation in Moon-Jupiter, 1982–83. The 2nd house, Pisces, aspected by Mars through rāśi dṛṣṭi → second marriage in Mars Dasha.

John Kerry — D7 Children & D12 Father's Career

Saptamsha: Mercury and Saturn, the napumsaka planets, in trines from D7 lagna can deny children, and here they exchange signs — yet Sun and Ketu in lagna override them, and Kerry's two daughters were born in Sun dasha, in Mercury and Saturn antardashas. In Hillary Clinton's D9 the 7th house, Gemini, becomes Bill Clinton's lagna: Mercury there (orator), Jupiter ruling and aspecting the 10th (law), Sun in the 7th (charisma), Saturn in the 10th aspected by Jupiter (Dharma-Karma Adhipati Yoga). Vimshottari only says he has power in her Venus Dasha (1986–2006). A Navamsa Narayana Dasha started from the stronger of Gemini and Sagittarius narrows it: Cancer Dasha (1983–1994) makes Capricorn his progressed lagna, and Taurus antardasha, holding the Yogakaraka Venus in the 5th, runs Dec 1992 – Nov 1993 — he took office in January 1993.

M.S. Subbalakshmi — Rasi Yogas, Singer's Navamsa & Spouse Analysis

The Rasi yogas of M.S. Subbalakshmi: Gajakesari in the 7th aspecting lagna for lasting fame, Tapasya Yoga of Saturn, Venus and Ketu together in the 10th, and the Raj Yoga of lagna lord Venus with Saturn, lord of the 4th and 5th. The singer's combination in Navamsa: Sun or Moon in a trine — Sun for rhythm, Moon for melody; she has Moon and Venus in watery Scorpio in the 9th. The husband read from the 7th of Navamsa taken as lagna: lagna lord in the 12th makes a giver, Venus and Moon in the 3rd a composer or poet, Sun and Mars in the 5th with Rahu a man with connections but no high office. The house the lagna lord occupies is where a person's intelligence is focused.

D30 Trimshamsa — Subconscious Disease, D7 Children & Jupiter's Signs

Disease is a three-step process: D-30 shows the subconscious root, D-6 the weak tissue, the Rasi chart what is suffered. D-30 works on the subconscious plane and shows the Shadripus — kama, krodha, lobha, moha, mada, matsarya — each defined as the teacher defines it; mada is fanaticism, not alcohol. Then her Saptamsa (D-7): Venus, Mercury and Saturn all in trines deny children, one or two only make it difficult. The 5th lord of the Rasi chart is judged in D-7, and where a sign has two lords the one sitting in it gives way to the other — so Rahu, in the 6th, rules her Aquarius. Jupiter in the 5th of D-7 would bless, but as 6th lord of the Rasi chart he owns the 2nd from the 5th and denies. A marriage read from the Rasi upapada and the Navamsa together. The 7th lord in the 8th still gives marriage, because his agenda is the 7th. Venus, the 5th house and the Darapada linked show a person who falls in love; marrying that person needs a link to the Upapada as well. A two-year committed relationship counts as the first upapada even without a ceremony, so the husband is read from the 8th from the 7th of the Navamsa — the 2nd house — and the marriage from the 8th from the Rasi upapada. Her own marital life is read from the Navamsa lagna: Moon and Saturn there give sadness. Graha arudhas are then introduced — house lords are the one intelligence (Satya), their arudhas are separate persons (Maya) — and L1 in Saturn's sign against L2 in the Sun's sign explains the strain.

D7 Children with Multiple Marriages, Papasthana vs Dusthana & TP Reconciliation

Children in the Saptamsa when there has been an earlier relationship. The usual count from the 5th is for the first marriage only; for the second, start from the 2nd house (8th from the 7th), let the oddity of that house decide the direction, and take the 11th from it as the first child, then every 3rd sign. Applied to the example: a lost pregnancy, then a daughter and a son, with the sex read from the planet that sits with the lord, and the sign itself used when two pakas fall together. Papasthanas are 3, 6 and 11 — the only good houses for Saturn, Mars, Rahu and Ketu; the 8th and 12th are dusthanas but not papasthanas. The running Mercury–Rahu antardaśā is then read by bhoga in the Navamsa, and the 2005 Tithi Pravesha chart by its Hora lord and a badhaka lord in the 12th.

Rajiv Gandhi — Political Power, Love Marriage & D12 Knowledge Lineage

Rajiv Gandhi's chart read blind. Sun, the planet of political power, is the 9th lord in the 10th of D-10; Vimshottari gives Rahu dasha for 1984, but Sun in lagna makes Shashtihayani dasha apply, and its Sun dasha began in March 1984, months before he became Prime Minister. D12 Within Saptamsa, D7 Parivartana Rule & Reading Child's Own Chart

Children in the Saptamsa, worked on two charts. In Rajiv Gandhi's D-7 the sign showing the daughter gives Sagittarius as her lagna; Sun in the 9th from it gives political blessings but not the seat of power. In Sanjay Rath's D-7 the first pregnancy is lost — Venus is the maraka from that sign and does not save it — and the second child, expected to be a girl, is a boy because the lord of the sign is in a parivartana. The child's paka sign is then taken as lagna and the D-7 read as his own chart: Jupiter in the 5th, a Duryoga between lagna lord and 8th lord, the 9th lord Moon in the 8th, and Rahu in the 2nd giving intuitive predictions. The class closes with the method of correlating D-7 and D-12 with D-10 and D-24 to see from whom a power or a knowledge comes.

TP + Narayana Dasha Applied — Career Change, Unexpected Event & Marriage

Three charts. A student's sudden job change: in the 2004 Tithi Pravesha D-10 the dasha lord Mercury is the 8th lord in the 12th with A10 and A2 — a change in the formal job that ends well — followed by sahamas, the amsa ruler, and the same period read through Capricorn Narayana Dasha and its entry chart. A second student's workplace quarrel of December 29, 2004: Bhoga in the 12th, Paka in the 6th, a yogakaraka in the 12th who is well placed from Arudha Lagna, and the timing of his return to India from the 8th and 5th houses. A lady's chart set as a puzzle: Leo Narayana Dasha gives marriage because the karaka and the 7th lord sit together in the 7th from the progressed lagna, and the antardashas are picked from the dasha entry chart.

The spouse's own fortune from the native's Navamsa: take the 7th house of D-9 as the spouse's lagna, start Narayana Dasha from the stronger of it and the lagna, and read each dasha with the Three-Parts Rule — here Leo dasha from Aries, with the wife's A7 serving as the husband's Arudha Lagna. Three Navamsa dashas are set apart: from the 9th lord of rasi (dharma in marriage, and when one marries), from the 7th lord of rasi (how the relationship goes), and from the 7th house of D-9 (what happens to the spouse). For one particular child, the Saptamsa is read from the sign of the 5th lord (first child) or 7th lord (second child) with Paka Narayana Dasha. Any lord in any divisional chart gives a Narayana Dasha; one must know what each shows.

Example Chart (1978) — Three-Parts Rule: Leo Dasha (1998–2006) & Virgo Dasha (2006–2015)

The rāśi Narayana daśā of one chart, read by the three-parts rule. Leo daśā (1998–2006): Leo is Śīrṣodaya and gives first, Saturn in Leo takes the middle third, and lord Sun in Pṛṣṭhodaya Sagittarius takes the last. Each planet’s share is cut into four quarters — for a malefic: avastha, yogas, houses owned, house occupied — and Saturn and Sun are read quarter by quarter, with the native's history checked against it. Virgo daśā (2006–2015) is then read three ways: Virgo as progressed lagna (benefics in quadrants and trines, malefics in 3, 6, 11; Ketu in the 7th), the daśā entry chart, and the three parts — the sign’s own third as the inanimate portion (house, aspecting houses, A4, A9, UL) and the six planets’ third at six months each. Dasha System Roles, Bhava vs Pada & Marriage Timing Puzzle

Each dasha has its own focus: Narayana Dasha shows the effort, what the person is actually doing; Sudasa shows where the blessings come from; Vimshottari shows what the mind experiences. Houses (bhava) are the intangible meaning and arudha padas are the tangible symbol, so a marriage ceremony is seen from UL and A7, not from the 7th house. The class then solves a puzzle: a man born in 1968 married on one of four dates (January 26, 1997; May 9, 1997; August 17, 1998; August 22, 1999). Dwisaptati Sama Dasha, the Narayana Dasha of the Navamsa with the three-parts rule, and the pratyantardasha each point to a different date; the Tithi Pravesha chart of 1997, with hora lord Venus in the 7th house, settles it as May 9, 1997. Sachin Tendulkar — Marriage Prediction via TP Charts & Graha Arudha for Wife

The class picks Sachin Tendulkar's marriage year from the annual Tithi Pravesha charts of 1994, 1995 and 1996, using only the Hora lord, the 7th house and lord in rasi and Navamsa, the Upapada and the Vivaha Sahama. 1995 wins: its Hora lord Venus is the karaka of marriage, the 7th lord, and exalted. Venus dasha did not give it; Jupiter dasha did, because Jupiter is in a trine from the ruler of the year and is his dispositor — he married on May 25, 1995, in Jupiter–Venus antardasha (May 23 – June 6). The natal chart then describes the spouse: lagna lord in the 7th in both rasi and Navamsa, the kind of work she does from A7, and how intelligently she is seen to do it from L7.

PVNR's Marriage Muhurtha Analysis & D24 Narayana Dasha for Education

PVNR’s marriage muhurtha (August 1, 1993, 9:28 PM IST, the birthplace) read for children. A muhurtha chart is not a natal chart; it shows which forces bless and which obstruct at that moment. In its saptamsa the trine lords carry the blessings, and both children were born when benefics transited the signs those lords occupy. The muhurtha decides whether the result comes; the transits that follow decide when. Then two student questions on one chart: Kala Sarpa and Kala Amrita yoga are counted in the natural zodiacal order, and the D-24 Narayana Dasha seeded from the 4th lord times a master’s degree — the 4th, 9th and 2nd houses of D-24 as the three levels of education, each dasha judged through the 7th from it, with Vimshottari showing how the mind takes it.

Worked Example — Rectification via Divisional Windows, Marriage & Childbirth

A student brings the chart of a young woman who asks whether an HR job is right for her. Before answering, PVNR tests the birth time against two dated events. No conditional dasha applies, so Vimshottari is used: marriage came in Jupiter–Sun, which the natal Navamsa explains, and the 2001 annual Tithi Pravesha chart shows the marriage year through its ruler Mars, the Upapada, Vivaha Sahama and a Saturn–Moon exchange. The 2003 annual Saptamsa does not show the child born in March 2004 until the birth time is moved forward 4 minutes, from 4:28 to 4:32 PM. The natal Saptamsa then gives the first child's lagna, the sex of the child and the dasha. For each divisional chart he notes how many minutes would change its lagna, and narrows the window from those.

Marriage Timing via SCD, AV Hierarchy in Monthly Drilldown & Natal→Annual→Monthly

One wedding, on February 1, 2004, read from the wife's chart and the husband's with the Sudarshana Chakra Dasha of the Navamsa. Lagna Chakra shows what the person does, Chandra Chakra how he feels, Surya Chakra the opportunity the universe gives. Her year has a cluster of lords with Venus in the Lagna Chakra sign, an exalted 4th lord from the Chandra Chakra and a Vipareeta Raja Yoga from the Surya Chakra; his has the 7th lord with the lagna lord Rahu in lagna and Ketu in the 7th. The wedding was first fixed for October 2003 and was put off: the planets that form the marriage yoga in the October chart are the ones sitting in the 6th in the annual chart, where their agenda is delay. In the February month the annual marriage planet, the Sun, returns to the front in the same sign. Marriage Timing 2002 — UL, Vivaha Sahama, A7 + Job Change 2005 via 8L in 10H

In September 2001 the native asks whether to marry. The natal D-9 says the running Sun–Jupiter can give it: Jupiter is the 9th lord in UL and the Dārapada, and the bhoga falls in lagna. The 2001 annual chart does not show it; the 2002 chart does — lagna lord in the 7th, the 7th and 9th lords together in UL, the UL lord Saturn four degrees from the Vivāha Sahama, and in the D-9 of the year the 7th lord Mercury in a kāma trikoṇa and in Ārūḍha Lagna. Mercury daśā of that year is chosen and the wedding falls in Mercury–Jupiter, in Māgha māsa — where the teacher shows how common sense about marriage months narrows an astrological window. The second half times the 2005 job change from the annual D-10: the 8th lord Venus in the 10th house gives the change, in his own daśā — a job-change daśā needs a lord tied to the 3rd or 8th house.

D9 Marriage Analysis — Same Antardasha in Different Mahadashas Gives Different Results

The Navamsa lagna is first fixed from the marriage (1976): Mercury antardaśā fits Sagittarius better than Scorpio, and Śatābdika daśā (Jupiter–Saturn) confirms it. D7 then confirms the time through both daughters. The main lesson: lagna is only half of judging an antardaśā, the Mahādaśā lord is the other half. Saturn, giving the result of Venus, gave marriage in Jupiter Mahādaśā because Venus is the 7th lord in the 7th from Jupiter; in Saturn’s own Mahādaśā the same Venus is read from lagna, in the 6th house of compromise, with Harsha Yoga making the change painless. The annual Navamsa for 2006 (Mars and Ketu in the 12th, 8th lord Jupiter in lagna) shows sudden detachment, and the husband is read from L7, the graha ārūḍha of the 7th lord.

A serious relationship of several months counts as a marriage. The Upapada here is in Capricorn, a dry sign, and its 2nd lords Saturn and Rahu sit in the 8th from it, so the first relationship does not become a marriage; the next one is read from the 8th house from the UL (Leo), and in navāṁśa from the 8th from the 7th. Rahu or Ketu on the Upapada or its 2nd lord shows a partner from across a cultural barrier, not necessarily another country; love is a separate matter, shown by Venus, A7, the 5th house and UL. The class opens with doership and karma, and the star-and-diamond picture of Dvaita, Vishishtadvaita and Advaita. The timing of the example then runs dasha by dasha: Sun Dasha (18–24) came close; Moon Dasha (1992–2002), of the Rasi 8th lord sitting with Saturn in the Arudha Lagna, denied marriage; Mars Dasha, of the Atmakaraka and 5th lord in Raja Yoga with the 7th lord, brought the change of mind. Mercury antardasha, up to November 2006, is the best period, with Ketu next, and the Navamsa Narayana Dasha agrees — before Sagittarius begins in July 2007. Chaturashiti Sama Dasha, Navamsa Narayana Dasha & Multi-Dasha Convergence for Divorce

A lagna at 29°13' Libra is settled by marriage and divorce, not by looks: Libra brings in Chaturashiti Sama Dasha, Scorpio a different conditional dasha, and only Libra explains both events. Moon–Jupiter gave the marriage in May 1997 — Moon sits in UL in Navamsa with rasi drishti on the 7th and is the 2nd lord from UL in Rasi; Jupiter is the Navamsa 7th lord. Mars–Mars gave the break — Mars is the debilitated 6th lord of Navamsa, with Venus, in A6. Vimshottari (Mercury–Jupiter, Ketu–Rahu) works less clearly, but its Ketu–Mars antardasha of February–July 2004 overlaps Chaturashiti Mars–Mars, so all four lords own the Navamsa 6th house. Navamsa Narayana Dasha agrees: Sagittarius, the 7th house, gave marriage in its own last third, and Capricorn, the 8th house, gave divorce in its own last third. The page also gives the rule that the lord of a house is a weak maraka for it.

Second Marriage Analysis (8th from 7H), Spouse Nature from L7 as Lagna & Children from Second Marriage

After a divorce or the death of a spouse, the second marriage is the 8th from the 7th house in Navamsa — here Cancer — and that sign is read as the lagna of the new relationship; for polygamy the 6th from the 7th is taken instead. Mars, who broke the first marriage as 6th lord, is yogakaraka from Cancer. Timing of the remarriage is worked through Chaturashiti, Navamsa Narayana Dasha (Aquarius is a better candidate than Capricorn) and the Tithi Pravesha charts of 2006 and 2007, where a link between lagna lord and 2nd lord shows a second marriage. The first husband is read from A7 / L7 in Aries: debilitated Saturn in lagna under Mars' argala and Rahu's aspect — suspicious, slow, explosive. Children are read in Saptamsa: the 11th from each marriage's sign, forward for an odd sign and backward for an even one; Rahu sits in the first-child sign of the first marriage, and the lord of the first-child sign of the second is in the 8th from it with Ketu.

Navamsha Architecture (Trikona→Kendra Mapping), Marana Karaka in Varga Charts & Weekday Counting from 10th

Two students' Navamshas are read with last week's Swamsa rules: the nature of the planets in the Navamsha lagna, in its trines, flanking it (kartari) or aspecting it by rāśi dṛṣṭi is imparted to the native, and a Vargottama planet does the same. The second chart is rectified from Sagittarius to Scorpio Navamsha lagna by testing it against the marriage: Venus in the 12th and a marriage begun in the dasha of the 8th lord would not have lasted. Marana Karaka Sthana in a varga is counted from the karya bhava — the 7th in Navamsha, the 10th in Dasamsa — so Venus in the 12th of Navamsha is very bad for marriage, and the 8th lord of Navamsha is the marriage breaker unless Venus is in the 8th. A planet in the 10th of Navamsha gives the results of the planet three steps on in weekday order (Mercury gives Saturn, Jupiter gives Rahu). The trines of each kind map to one Navamsha kendra — 1-5-9 to the lagna, 4-8-12 to the 4th, 3-7-11 to the 7th, 2-6-10 to the 10th — which is why the kendras are the pillars and the 10th of Navamsha is finance.

Jaimini Swamsa Combinations (Sun+Rahu, Tapasya Yoga, Ketu), Spouse from 7H & Place of Mating from 4H

Jaimini's sutras on combinations in Swamsa. Sun and Rahu show danger from snake venom; with benefic aspect the same pair makes a toxicologist; Mars aspecting makes an arsonist, Venus a firefighter, and Jupiter one who burns his own house, because Jupiter expands whatever he touches. Saturn with Rahu gives a seller or user of intoxicants, Moon in the 4th with Venus a sailor, Moon with Gulika stolen wealth, and Ketu on Swamsa ear ailments when malefics join. Ketu turns things from their usual course: with Venus asceticism, with Mercury and Saturn impotency, and Saturn aspecting Venus and Ketu makes a tapasvi while Saturn alone on Ketu makes a false sanyasi. The 7th from Swamsa describes the spouse, and the planets there are found strong in the spouse's own chart; the 4th, being the 10th from the 7th, shows the place of mating; the 2nd shows morals, where Ketu ends the passion of Venus and Mars, Jupiter enlarges it and Rahu ruins wealth through it.

Argala on UL for Marriage Timing, L7 vs A7 Distinction & Maraka for Husband from L7

A Virgo-lagna woman married at 17 in Mercury–Saturn and widowed in Venus–Mercury. UL is in the 8th house, but its lord Mars sits in the 2nd from it with the lagna lord, and three net Argalas fall on UL — full effect. The navamsha makes the timing convincing: Mercury exalted in the 9th, Saturn in exchange with Venus, and Saturn holding Argala on lagna, on the 7th house and on Venus himself, which introduces Argala on a planet as the promotion of that planet's agenda. Navamsha Narayana dasha and the 1979 Tithi Pravesha chart, where lagna, 7th house and UL carry 3, 5 and 4 Argalas, agree. For the husband's death PVNR sets out house, lord and their Arudhas: the 7th house is the relationship, A7 its visible form, the 7th lord the intelligence guiding it, and L7 — the Arudha of the 7th lord — the husband himself. From L7 in Pisces, Venus is the 8th lord and Mercury the 7th lord in the 7th.

Marana Karaka from Multiple References, Pilgrimage Indicators in D20, Kula Devata & Marriage Muhurta

Four questions from the class. Marana Karaka Sthana is seen from anything taken as a reference — the lagna, a house, a karaka, the planet's own sign — in the rasi and in the divisional charts; denying it from the lagna of a varga is questionable, and a parivartana between two planets in MKS removes the effect when it is triggered. Pilgrimage is read from the 9th and 10th houses of Rasi, Navamsa and Vimsamsa, with Sun and Jupiter as karakas of dharma and Rahu and Ketu when the journey is into a foreign culture. The family deity is the 2nd house of the Vimsamsa (house, lord or A2); the Rasi only fine-tunes. For a marriage Muhurta the standalone Muhurta chart comes first; Chandrabala, Tarabala, a Hora lord who is not the 6th or 8th lord of either person, and a lagna without a very low Ashtakavarga score are secondary — avoid the terrible, do not chase the best. Marriage Trouble Case (1979) — Venus Dasha, Sun AD Divorce Risk & Gem vs Prayer Critical Distinction

A woman’s chart (Cancer lagna, 1979) brought to class in 2007: married June 20, 2005 in Venus–Venus, and hardly living with her husband since. In navāṁśa the 7th lord Jupiter is in the 12th and UL is with A6; Sun and Moon sit there with Venus. In the rāśi chart, counted from UL in Virgo, Venus is both 9th and 2nd lord and sits in the 6th with Mars and Ketu, while Sun, Moon and Mercury are in the 7th from UL. The running Sun antardaśā (to September 12) is the danger; the Moon antardaśā after it worries PVNR less. The year’s Tithi Praveśa confirms and narrows it to June 24–August 24. BPHS Ch.18 Verses 1–6 — 7th House: Spouse Happiness, Venus Sthirakaraka, Three Types of Karaka & Affairs by Planet in 7H

The opening verses of BPHS Chapter 18 on the 7th house, read line by line. The 7th lord in own sign or exaltation gives full happiness from the spouse; in the 6th, 8th or 12th without dignity, a sickly wife. Venus in the 7th makes the native full of desire, and Venus afflicted by functional malefics (papa, as against krura for natural malefics) shows death or suffering of the wife — Venus being the sthirakaraka, with Jupiter taking that role for the husband in a woman's chart. A strong 7th lord with functional benefics makes the native wealthy and respected, because the 7th has argala on the 9th, 4th and 6th and shows the circles he moves in; spouse results are read in the Navamsa, wealth in D-2 and D-4. The last verses give the kind of affair shown by each planet in the 7th, with the teacher's warning that a planet there never proves an affair by itself.

7th House as Extrovert Lagna, Karaka-Lord-Occupant Framework & Kendrapati Dosha — Natural Benefic in Kendra = Functional Malefic

Three ideas the teacher draws out while reading the 7th-house verses. Lagna is the introvert self and the 7th house the extrovert self; Jaimini's rules use either, and a native with a stronger 7th can be judged from it. The karaka is the project manager of a matter, the house lord a group manager who owns resources, and a planet in the house a team member with his own agenda: the 7th lord in the 6th only gives setbacks, the 6th lord in the 7th breaks the marriage, and nothing comes before the dasha. Kendradhipati dosha comes from ownership alone — a natural benefic who owns a kendra is a functional malefic wherever he sits — and sitting in that kendra gives relief, not blame. Female Dentist Marriage Prediction (1975) — Saturn-Venus Failed (12th from UL), Multi-Dasha Convergence June–July 2008 & Lakshmi Ganapati Remedy

A student's prediction of marriage in July–August 2007 failed, and Saturn–Venus is ending with no marriage although Venus is the yogakāraka in the 7th of the Navāṁśa. PVNR admits he too would have expected it, then finds what was against Venus: the antardaśā Pāka in the 6th, Venus in the 12th from the Navāṁśa Upapada, and Venus a functional malefic counted from Saturn. The class rebuilds the timing from Nārāyaṇa daśā of the Navāṁśa and of the Rāśi, the Tithi Praveśa charts of 2006 and 2007, Vimśottarī Saturn–Sun and the transits, all of which meet in the second half of June and July 2008. The lesson: daśās always leave two or three candidates, so read the Tithi Praveśa of the year before committing. Remedies: Monday fast with Śiva or Rāma from the Upapada, and the Lakṣmī Gaṇapati mantra for Ketu's transit.

Three-Parts Rule (Trirāśi Āyuh) for Longevity + Marriage Compatibility: UL Cross-Link, Venus 3-11, Mangalik Dosha (Extremely Overrated)

A full marriage-compatibility reading of two charts. Moon signs (same sign — fine, but both get every transit together), tara both ways, and lagnas in mutual trines. The SJC check: the Upapada of each must link to the lagna of the other — his UL Leo holds Saturn under Venus's aspect and she has a Venus-ruled lagna with Saturn in it; her UL Sagittarius has his Gemini lagna in the 7th and holds his lagna lord Mercury. Venus in mutual 3–11 increases the romance of both. The Three-Parts Rule for longevity is taught from scratch — movable = long, fixed = short, dual = middle; three pairs; two different kinds give the absent kind; majority wins; tie-breaker by Moon/Saturn in lagna or the 7th — and both come out long-lived. Kuja dosha is dismissed: her Mars is exalted, his is protected by an exalted Jupiter. The one concern is Mercury, 2nd lord from his UL, whose dasha starts after 2032; remedies for both are given.

Example Chart (1983, Sagittarius Lagna) — Graha Malika Yoga (Spiritual Chain), Parivraj Yoga, Saturn Exalted in A9 for Career & L7 as Wife's Lagna

A Sagittarius-lagna chart (born 1983; the Vimshamsa lagna is Cancer) read across many vargas. Moon, the 8th lord, is in gandanta, so Moon dasha (2015–25) needs a remedy. All seven planets lie from the 9th to the 12th: a Graha Malika, a chain of giving from Jupiter and Ketu in the 12th through exalted Saturn and the Sun to four planets in the 9th, which is why planets 2nd and 12th from each other are not always bad. In the Navamsa three chara karakas are in marana karaka sthana from the Atmakaraka. Drig Dasha times the spiritual turn; the Vimshamsa gives Kula and Grama Devata from the 2nd and 4th. For money the Dasamsa says work first and business later, and the Hora says leave the stock market (Mercury is a killer) for Saturn’s fields: oil, steel, commodities. The 10th lord with three planets, not four, is an interest in renunciation, not sannyasa. Marriage is timed with Vimshottari, Narayana Dasha and two Tithi Pravesha charts; wife, children and parents are read from L7, D-7 and D-12.

BPHS Ch.24 — 6th Lord in Houses 7–9: No Marital Bliss (12L in Lagna from 7H), Famous + Bold + Wealthy (7H), Diseased + Unclean + Loose Morals (8H) & Deals in Misfortune Articles (9H)

PVNR finishes the 6th lord from the Santhanam edition of BPHS (which he numbers Chapter 24, verse 67 onward) and derives each result by taking the relevant house as lagna. 6th lord in the 7th: no marital bliss, because from the 7th he is the 12th lord of losses in lagna; yet famous (2nd lord in the 3rd from the 5th), virtuous (10th lord in the 11th from the 9th), respected (9th lord in the 10th from the 10th), bold (4th lord in the 5th from the 3rd) and wealthy (5th lord in the 6th from the 2nd). 6th lord in the 8th: diseased, quarrelsome (12th lord in the 2nd from the 7th), after other people's money (11th lord in lagna from the 8th), interested in others' wives (10th lord in the 12th from the 9th, joined to the 7th lord in a trine from the 12th) and unclean (a dusthāna lord in a dusthāna). He warns against reading this mechanically: the Navāṁśa decides the dharma of the person, the 8th is also sādhana, and a saint with the 6th and 8th lords in lagna simply did not care about his dirty clothes. 6th lord in the 9th: trades in wood and stones, meaning articles with a connotation of death and misfortune (12th lord from the 7th of business), with gains and losses alternating (8th lord in the 11th from the 11th).

Example Chart — Divorce Litigation (1971): Venus Karaka-Lagna for Marriage, 9th from UL Protects Marriage & Upanayana Guru Chandal Yoga Warning (Jupiter + Rahu in Debility)

A 1971 chart (Taurus lagna, Leo Navāṁśa): about five years of divorce litigation, and the wife now wants to return. In rāśi the 7th and 8th lords exchange houses. Venus daśā gave the marriage, which fits the Navāṁśa: Venus is in the 7th there and owns the Navāṁśa Upapada. Moon daśā brought the litigation: in Navāṁśa Moon is the 12th lord in the bādhaka sthāna, and from Venus taken as kāraka-lagna he is the 6th lord. PVNR justifies the Venus lagna from Parāśara and from Venus being stronger than the Navāṁśa lagna. The running Saturn antardaśā (lagna lord in the 11th from Venus) and the coming Mercury antardaśā do not break the marriage: Mercury is the 2nd lord from the rāśi UL and sits in the 9th from UL in both rāśi and Navāṁśa. Verdict: the divorce is unlikely and they should get back together; only Sun antardaśā needs care. Remedy: Viṣṇu Sahasranāma with the Devī verse Sarva-maṅgala-māṅgalye between its verses, and a fast on Sundays because UL is in Leo. The class also covers Jupiter crossing the Capricorn–Aquarius border and back, and an Upanayana muhūrta spoiled by debilitated Jupiter within a degree of Rāhu.

BPHS Ch.24 — 7th Lord in Houses 1–3: Very Outgoing + Wicked + Clever + Vata Diseases (1H), Multiple Marriages + Wealth from Marriage + Procrastinator (2H) & Children Survival Problems (3H)

Parashara’s results for the 7th lord in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd houses (Ch.24 verses 73–75 in the Santhanam edition), each derived by taking the house of the result as lagna. In the 1st: outgoing and drawn to others’ spouses, wicked (a Maraka in lagna weakens character), clever (3rd lord in the 9th from the 5th), without fighting spirit (2nd lord in the 8th from the 6th, though the 3rd house view shows he has initiative) and prone to Vata disease. In the 2nd: one marriage ends and he marries again (lord in the 8th from the 7th), wealth comes through marriage, and he procrastinates (the lord of desire in the 12th from the 3rd). In the 3rd: children’s survival is in danger (8th lord in the 4th from the 12th house, with argala), a child who survives is bold, and the Saptamsa must confirm it. The teacher also adds results the verses leave out: speech, and dealings with foreigners.

BPHS Ch.24 — 7th Lord in Houses 4–6: Spouse Independent (Career Woman) + Dharmic + Intelligent + Dental Problems (4H), Honorable + All Virtues + Cheerful + Wealthy (5H) & Wife Sick + Quarrels + Angry (6H)

Parashara’s results for the 7th lord in the 4th, 5th and 6th houses (Ch.24 verses 76–78 in the Santhanam edition), each derived by taking the house of the result as lagna. In the 4th: the spouse has her own career and mind (lagna lord in the 10th from the 7th); he is truthful and dharmic (11th lord in the 8th from the 9th, a Viparita Raja Yoga) and intelligent (3rd lord in the 12th from the 5th); teeth, feet or the left eye suffer (8th lord in the 5th from the 12th). In the 5th: honoured but with ups and downs (10th lord in the 8th from the 10th), virtuous, cheerful (lagna lord in the 11th from the 7th) and wealthy (an upachaya lord in a quadrant from the 2nd with argala). In the 6th: the wife is sick or turns spiritual (the lord in the 12th from his own house), he quarrels with her and with everyone, he is angry (argala on the 8th) and has no happiness (4th lord in the 3rd from the 4th).

Parashara's results for the 7th lord in the 7th, 8th and 9th houses, each derived by taking the relevant house as lagna. In the 7th: marital bliss (lagna lord in lagna from the 7th), boldness (5th lord in the 5th from the 3rd), applied intelligence and judgment (3rd lord in the 3rd from the 5th) and Vata complaints, which the teacher calls an intelligent guess. In the 8th: the lord sits in a Maraka sthana from its own house and in the 8th from lagna, so no marital happiness, a diseased wife, a wife of poor character (5th lord in the 6th from the 3rd) who does not listen. In the 9th: many women (initiative in relations, 3rd from the 7th), yet attached to the wife (7th lord strong in a trine), and many beginnings without completion (12th from the 10th). Also the difference between the 7th lord in lagna, who likes to interact, and in the 7th, who does.

BPHS Ch.24 — 7th Lord in Houses 10–12: Wife Independent + Very Dharmic + Wealthy + Many Children (10H), Wealth from Marriage + Limited Children + Daughters (11H) & Business Losses + Miserly + Wife Spendthrift + Cloth Merchant (12H)

Parashara's results for the 7th lord in the 10th, 11th and 12th houses, each derived by taking the relevant house as lagna. In the 10th: a wife not under his control (from the 7th, lagna lord in the 4th aspecting the 10th — she pursues her own happiness and career), a dharmic native (Argala on the 9th; 11th lord in the 2nd from the 9th), wealth (6th lord in the 9th from the 2nd) and children after early trouble (3rd lord in the 6th from the 5th, a Viparita Raja Yoga). In the 11th: wealth after marriage (9th lord in lagna from the 11th), little happiness from children (3rd lord in the 7th from the 5th) and daughters, where the teacher says the logic for gender is uncertain. In the 12th: big business losses rather than born poverty, miserliness (8th lord in lagna from the 12th), a wife who spends, and a trade in small articles such as cloth (lagna lord in the 6th from the 7th).

Example Chart (1980, Aries Lagna) — Marriage Crisis D7/UL Analysis: 8th from UL Loaded (7 Planets on 2nd/8th Axis), Jagannatha Hora Ayanamsa (Fixed Chitra Plane) & First vs Second Marriage via Tithi Pravesh

A marriage of 2008 is in crisis: the wife has left and wants a divorce. In the Rasi the Upapada is in Capricorn with Mercury and Ketu in the 2nd from it and five planets in the 8th from it, including its 7th lord Moon — the first marriage does not survive. The native had earlier lived with a woman for three years, so the question is whether the 2008 wedding is the first marriage or the second. Narayana Dasha and Vimshottari justify both; the Tithi Pravesha of 2008 settles it, because the Tithi Ashtottari dasha of the 7th lord Jupiter gave the wedding. It is the first marriage, since marriage is a life commitment and not just living together. The Tithi Pravesha Navamsas of 2008 and 2009 and the wife's chart all point to a break, with June–July 2009 critical and October–November the only opening. The page also explains the Jagannatha ayanamsa, which moves the native's Venus from 29°59'58" Aries to 0°03' Taurus.

VE7 Special Lagna Research (PVNR, ~80% Accuracy): 7th from VE7 Must Link to Lagna in Marriage Dasha, Verified in Vimshottari + Tithi Pravesh + Tajaka Muddha Dasha & Business D10: A7 in 3H + A3 in 7H = Arudha Exchange for Commerce

VE7 is an experimental special lagna: it starts from the rising of Venus and moves seven times as fast as lagna, as Horā Lagna uses 2 and Ghaṭī Lagna uses 5. The rule under test: the 7th house from VE7 must be linked to lagna by the daśā or antardaśā that brings marriage. The teacher finds it in about 80% of charts and says plainly that it is research, not infallible, and usable in the rāśi chart only, since VE7 changes sign every 17 minutes. The example (born 1950, married March 24, 1973) is worked in the natal chart with Mercury–Saturn, in the 1972 Tithi Praveśa chart, and in the Tājaka chart with Mudda daśā. The class then reads the same native’s business from D-10: A7 in the 3rd and A3 in the 7th, the kāma trikoṇa lords converging on the 11th, the Moon daśā antardaśā by antardaśā, the running year’s Tithi Praveśa chart, and Durgā for the Rāhu antardaśā.

BPHS Ch.24 — 8th Lord in Houses 7–9: Two Wives + Maraka for Native (7H), Long Life + Thief + Blame-Game (8H) & Adharmic + Atheist + Harsh Wife + Takes Others' Money (9H)

Parāśara's verses for the 8th lord in the 7th, 8th and 9th houses, each result derived by counting from the house concerned. In the 7th: two wives, because he is the wife's 2nd lord sitting in her lagna, and because the 8th lord brings change to the house he occupies; he is a māraka for the native too, and business suffers — certain only when a malefic is there. In the 8th: long life (medium even if the planet has no strength), a thief because the 8th is other people's money, blameworthy because the 8th is the 12th from the 9th, and one who blames others because he is the 2nd lord in the 2nd from the 7th. In the 9th: betrays dharma, atheist, takes others' money — and the "wicked wife" is read as a wife of harsh, aggressive speech, her 2nd lord being in her 3rd.

Mother's Health (1953): D12 Karaka-Lagna + 6L by House = Foot Problems Confirmed & the native (1984): D24 Rectification, Mercury-Jupiter Parivartana D9 = Happy Marriage, TP 9/10/11L in 7H = 2010 Marriage Year

Two charts worked in class. First, a mother's illness read from her son's chart: in D-12 the graha ārūḍha of the 4th lord (L4, Aquarius) is taken as her lagna; the running Mercury antardaśā is her 8th lord with Ketu on her lagna lord, so the trouble is long-term, to 2012. The 2008–09 Tithi Praveśa D-12 shows her foot complaint only after the birth time is taken back 40 seconds — the Moon then is a māraka exalted in the 12th from L4 — and the 4th from the Moon in D-12 confirms it. Second, a woman of 24 whose matches keep breaking: D-24 will not show her computer-science degree until the time is moved back 3 min 40 s, which also changes the navāṁśa. The new navāṁśa has lagna lord Mercury in the 7th exchanging with 7th lord Jupiter in the 4th — a happy marriage, given by Mercury's daśā, which has not yet begun. Navāṁśa Nārāyaṇa Daśā and the 2009–10 Tithi Praveśa place it in January–June 2010, Mercury's period strongest.

BPHS Ch.24 — 9th Lord in Houses 7–9: Marriage Unlocks Fortune + Famous (A9 in 5H) (7H), Unfortunate + No Elder Sibling Happiness — Bhavat Bhavam (8H) & Maximum Fortune + Beautiful + Happy with All Siblings (9H) & A9 Bhagyapada General Rule

Verses 103–105 of the chapter on house lords (chapter 24 in the Santhanam edition the teacher reads from). 9th lord in the 7th: marriage unlocks fortune, he brings dharma into his dealings with people, and he is famous because A9 falls in the 5th house of following. 9th lord in the 8th: unfortunate, being 12th from the 9th, and no happiness from elder siblings — the 9th is the 11th from the 11th (bhāvāt bhāvam). 9th lord in the 9th: much fortune, good looks, and happiness with elder and younger siblings; A9 falls in the 6th, the 4th from the 3rd. A woman who has lived in the US for twelve years is leaving for India in two days, in Jupiter–Mars, and asks whether the family will settle. In the chaturthāṁśa the 1st and 5th houses show the motherland and the 9th and 12th show abroad; Jupiter is in the 5th with the 5th lord and Mars is in the 5th from him. The birth time is moved 52 seconds, from Gemini to Taurus saptāṁśa lagna, because only then do the lords of the children’s signs show two boys and a break at the third. The navāṁśa shows no threat to the marriage, the saptāṁśa shows both children doing well in Saturn daśā (2012–2031), and the Tithi Praveśa charts of 2008–09, 2009–10 and 2010–11 improve year by year. The chance of her returning to the US is low. The remedy is the Hanumān Chālīsā: Mars is in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka Saturn in the navāṁśa, and Hanumān also relieves Saturn.

BPHS Ch.24 — 10th Lord in Houses 7–9: Marital Bliss + Compassionate + Implements Dharma (7H), Rocky Career + Long Life + Picks Fights (8H) & King/Minister Status = Peak Dharma-Karma Yoga (9H)

Parāśara’s results for the 10th lord in the 7th, 8th and 9th houses (the teacher reads them from Chapter 24), each explained by counting from the house concerned. In the 7th: marital happiness (4th lord in lagna from the 7th), a compassionate mind, a talker more than an eloquent speaker, and a man who carries out his dharma (2nd lord in the 11th from the 9th). In the 8th: the verse says jobless, but the placement also gives argala on the 10th, so read a rocky career or a workaholic and never tell anyone he will have no job; long life; and a man who picks fights (5th lord in the 3rd from the 6th). In the 9th: a king or the equal of a king — the lord of karma in the house of dharma — with fortune in general, and better still when the 9th and 10th lords are together.

A post-mortem of the class's own failed prediction. Marriage had been expected around April 2009, in Mars–Moon of Chaturaśīti-sama daśā (the daśā to use when the 10th lord is in the 10th); it did not happen. Mercury is the far stronger candidate — 7th lord exalted with the Upapada lord in the rāśi, in the navāṁśa lagna, 7th lord from exalted Venus — and his daśā starts only in February 2010. Three Tithi Praveśa years are compared: Mercury's year 2008–09 that misled, Jupiter's year 2009–10, and Venus's year 2010–11, where Venus is 7th lord in the 7th in mūlatrikoṇa. A praśna read on three levels (navāṁśa = past, rāśi = present, drekkāṇa = future) points to later rather than sooner: Śrāvaṇa māsa of 2011. Remedies: Saturday fast with prayer to Sadāśiva, Kārtikeya, and an emerald on the little finger.

BPHS Ch.24 — 11th Lord in Houses 7–9: Gains from Wife's Family + Liberal Giver (Viparita from 12H) + Keeps Wife Happy (7H), Long-Lived + Wife Predecease + Windfall Possible (8H) & Fortunate + Dharma Activist + Money in Circulation (9H)

BPHS chapter 24 (Santhanam's edition), verses 127–129: the 11th lord in the 7th, 8th and 9th houses. Each word of the verse is derived by taking the house it belongs to as lagna and seeing which lord the planet is from there. In the 7th: gains through the wife and in business, a giver (12th lord in the 8th from the 12th, a Viparīta Rāja Yoga for giving), many desires (two Kāma trikoṇas linked), and a man who keeps his wife happy rather than one ruled by her. In the 8th: breaks in his works, long life, the wife dying first (the planet sits in the 2nd from the 7th), a possible lottery or inheritance, powerful friends. In the 9th: fortunate, skilful, one who goes to lengths to uphold dharma, famous, and dhanādhipa read as money always in circulation, not a big bank balance.

Graha Yuddha: When the Lagna Lord Loses to a Maraka in the 8th

Graha yuddha — planetary war — between a lagna lord and a maraka in the 8th house, eleven arc minutes apart. The rule the class draws from it: a lagna lord defeated in graha yuddha is a fundamental weakness, and in the dasha of the planet that lost, the winner does what he wants — the time is his. Here the winner is the 7th and 2nd lord, an enemy, so the lagna lord's own dasha is run by the maraka. Beside it, the Trimsamsa (D-30) test for a mind under siege: Moon (manas) or Mercury (buddhi) afflicted by Saturn, Rahu or Ketu. That is a standing weakness; three dashas — Vimshottari, Chaturashiti Sama and the D-30 Paryāya Dasha — show which combination is giving results now. The Saptamsa is read for children (Rahu in the 5th as badhaka lord). The Navamsa is read for the first marriage from the 7th, the second from the 2nd and the third from the 9th, each taken as lagna, with the 2nd, 8th and 12th from the Upapada for marriage in general. Two Tithi Praveśa charts show a bad natal combination repeating on the lagna of the year, and then a better year with a window for marriage.

The second boy’s Moon is 6 arc-seconds inside Chitra — 11 seconds of birth time from Hasta — and the guna score is 22 of 36 with Hasta and 8 with Chitra; dashas cannot settle it, only nakshatra transits at major events and the nature of the person can. So PVNR reads the personalities. The girl has Libra lagna with a close 8th aspect of Mars, and lagna lord Venus within one degree of Mars and Ketu in Pisces: diplomatic on the surface, fiery and stubborn underneath. Boy 1 (Aquarius lagna, lagna lord Saturn with Moon in Cancer in the 6th) is a sensitive thinker who will still fight back — an average match that sustains. Boy 2 (Cancer lagna, Jupiter aspecting lagna and Moon in Virgo) is compassionate and dharmic and may handle her better. The point of kuja dosha matching is that the unhappiness is shared and neither is crushed. The class finishes BPHS Ch.29 from verse 30. Saumya in the 2nd from Arudha Lagna gives rulership of the country or all-round knowledge; because Venus is named separately (kavi, vadi — poet or debater), Saumya is read as Mercury. Darapada (A7) in a kendra or kona from AL, or holding any strong planet (sabala graha), makes one wealthy and widely famous, because A7 is how one interacts with the world; in the 6th, 8th or 12th it gives little money — though the teacher warns this is no thumb rule, and A7 in the 6th can simply make one look like a fighter. A7 well placed from AL also gives friendship between the couple, badly placed enmity; spouse-happiness from AL is only a secondary indication, the main one being Upapada in Ch.30. The "king who rules the earth" verse covers 8 houses of 12, so it is read as "good for status". Closing rule: any pada in a kendra or kona (perhaps 3 and 11) from AL flourishes, in 6/8/12 it suffers — and the padas are aspects of the native's own personality, Upapada being the marriage, not the wife.

A woman born in Sri Lanka in 1975 (Scorpio lagna 10°53′, Jupiter Atmakaraka and vargottama, running Jupiter dasha). The class first tests the data: the time zone (6h east of GMT kept, 5:30 tried by students) and a 4-minute earlier time that would make the navamsa lagna Virgo; it settles on 4:45 or 4:44 because the D-10 then puts Mercury in the 10th house. Marriage on Jan 21, 2001 in Jupiter–Jupiter is explained from three lagnas in the Libra navamsa: from Lagna Jupiter is 6th lord in the 6th (Harsha yoga); from exalted Venus he is lagna lord in lagna aspecting the 7th and its lord; from the Moon he is in the 7th house. The 2000 Tithi Pravesha (hora lord Mars, Venus dasha) is read alongside, and the teacher says plainly that it does not fall fully into place. Going abroad in April 1995 in Rahu–Venus: Rahu is in the 12th by house, Venus is 7th and 12th lord in the 9th exchanging aspects with the 9th lord Moon. Career: Mercury in Yamamsa with 6th lord Jupiter in the 10th of D-10 gives software testing; D-24 shows Mars on the 9th and 2nd for electrical engineering. Jupiter is 3rd and 6th lord in D-10, so he spoils the 5th–9th lord Raja yoga of Rahu and Mercury — being Atmakaraka does not promise recognition.

Parāśara's verses on the Upapada and the 2nd house from it, read one by one up to the 16th. The 2nd from Upapada in a bad planet's aṁśa or joined by a natural malefic makes the man the cause of his wife's death, usually passively; an exalted planet linked to it means luck in marital bliss; Gemini as Upapada or its 2nd shows multiple spouses; Saturn and Rāhu in the 2nd mean the wife is given up over a scandal, or dies. The lord sitting in the Upapada or in his own sign, and likewise the sthira kāraka of the spouse (Venus or Jupiter) in own sign, still allows the loss of the wife late in life when that planet is malefic or afflicted — the recording's "Moon sign" is "own sign". An exalted Upapada lord or sthira kāraka brings a wife from a respected family, a debilitated one from an ordinary family. The old thumb rule of always propitiating the 2nd lord is revised: weigh occupant, aspect, aṁśa and owner, and propitiate the planet that dominates.

BPHS Ch.30 verses 17-22 read the spouse's health from planets in the Upapada or in the 2nd from it: Ketu + Venus give blood disorders, Mercury + Ketu bone problems, Saturn + Rahu + Sun fevers, Mercury + Rahu a stout body, Mars + Saturn in a sign of Mercury or Mars breathing disease, Jupiter + Saturn trouble with hearing, Mercury + Mars or Jupiter + Rahu dental problems, Saturn + Rahu Vāta disorders. The teacher shows that Parāśara is using the planets as elements here, not as the seven dhātus: Venus is water, Mercury earth, the Sun fire, Saturn air, while Rahu, Ketu and Saturn deplete whatever they join. He works out why Mars + Saturn harms breathing (a strong Mars with a 6th or 8th house link afflicting Saturn, the planet of air), flags two places where the text looks corrupt, and ends with Parāśara's disclaimer: a functional benefic's aspect or conjunction cancels the result.

Verse 23 of BPHS Ch.30 leads to a timing technique: an ārūḍha pada has a divisional longitude in every varga, and a marriage planet transiting within 2-4 degrees of the Upapada's navāṁśa longitude can bring marriage. The page gives the orb, the teacher's research method and how to compute a divisional longitude by hand. The case study is a Virgo-lagna chart married in February 2005 in Saturn-Rahu of Vimshottari. Marriage is judged from three references — the 7th from lagna (physical), from the Moon (mental) and from Venus (the spirit of enjoyment) — and in the navāṁśa Saturn and Rahu are tied to those 7th houses when the houses are measured by divisional longitude. Parashara gives 18 references — Lagna, Arudha Lagna and Upapada, the 1st or 7th from each, the house or its lord, and the lord's amsa — and leaves it to us which to use. Children are read from the 9th from the reference: Sun, Jupiter and Rahu give many; Saturn, Moon and Mercury deny; the Moon alone gives one; Mars with Saturn gives an adopted or a brother's child. Then the Upapada in Leo or Virgo, and why childbirth is also judged from navāṁśa and triṁśāṁśa. A Leo-lagna civil engineer has left her first job and asks whether to work or study; her marriage is fixed for April. In the D-10 (Sagittarius lagna) the job came in Rahu-Rahu-Jupiter, Jupiter being lagna lord in the 6th aspecting the 10th, and went in the pratyantara of Saturn, the 3rd lord in the 3rd. Mercury, the 10th lord, can give a job next, and Rahu-Jupiter should give both the degree and the job. The D-24 favours further study under Jupiter and Mercury, but the nodes on the 10th axis of the D-10 and Rahu as 10th lord of the D-24 point to computers and electronics, not civil engineering. The Tithi Praveśa of 2009–10 shows the marriage: 7th lord Mercury, 9th lord Sun and Ketu together in the 7th house. The D-7 promises a child in Rahu daśā through the Rahu-Venus rāja yoga, the navāṁśa warns of friction in Rahu daśā, and the D-20 with Venus and Moon in the 4th under exalted Jupiter shows a clear spiritual direction.

The last verses of BPHS Chapter 30. Mercury in Arudha Lagna makes a ruler, Jupiter there one who knows everything, Venus a poet and eloquent debater — and the second line of the verse is what proves that “Saumya” in the first means Mercury, not benefics in general. A functional benefic in the 2nd from Upapada or from Arudha Lagna gives all kinds of wealth and intelligence, which leads to the point that Upapada is not only marriage but overall status. The 2nd lord from Upapada in that 2nd house with functional malefics makes a “thief”: wealth that is not earned in a straightforward way. Last, the 2nd house from the 7th lord from Upapada — Rahu gives big teeth, Ketu halting speech, Saturn bad looks — read as the “food” of the interaction with the spouse, with the good planets left for the student to work out.

Verses 46-52 of BPHS chapter 33, read house by house from Karakāṁśa. 6th (and 3rd): a malefic makes a hard worker, or a frustrated one if weak; a benefic makes one lazy, too soft to fight, or with no need to fight. 7th: Moon+Jupiter a beautiful or famous spouse, Venus one of many desires and talents, Mercury a versatile one, Sun a wife kept in the family circle whom the native bosses, Saturn an older, austere or sickly one, Rāhu a widow, foreigner or other match outside the tradition of that place and time. 8th: its lord or a benefic gives long life, which the teacher reads as the soul's desire to live long, probably seen in Triṁśāṁśa. 9th: a benefic gives truthfulness, devotion to guru and swadharma; a malefic gives faith in childhood that is lost with age; Saturn and Rāhu make a guru-drohī, unless they are functional benefics or the 9th lords. The word swadharma leads to the teaching that the Vedic paradigm has no universal dharma, only one's own, found by listening to conscience.

A woman born in 1982 (Scorpio lagna 6°36′), married in May 2006 and unable to conceive. Before reading the Saptamsa the teacher tests the birth time. The marriage in Rahu–Rahu–Jupiter fits the Leo navamsa lagna (Rahu is 7th lord in the 7th; Jupiter is 7th lord from debilitated Venus), and the Tithi Pravesha of 2005 gives it in Mercury–Mercury, Mercury being the exalted Upapada lord in the 7th house of that year’s Navamsa. In D24 Mercury dominates the 9th house and A9, so the bachelor’s is in computer science; Mars–Venus, the 3rd and 2nd lords from A9, end it, which is completion and not harm. Mercury alone in the 2nd house continues the same subject for the master’s. Together these hold the time to 17 seconds later and 1.5 minutes earlier. The Saptamsa is then very weak: Jupiter debilitated in the 8th, the 5th lord Venus in the 6th house and the 2nd lord Moon in the 8th house, both Marana Karaka Sthana. Houses are counted from the lagna’s degree throughout.

One chart is tested varga by varga against known events before any prediction is made. Marriage (Aug 26, 2007) fell in D9 Jupiter Mahadasha, Saturn Antardasha: Jupiter is 5th lord with the lagna lord in Leo lagna, Saturn is 7th lord in the 7th. Saturn is not a benefic for Leo lagna, and the teacher answers that objection: judge a planet from lagna and also from the house of interest, where Saturn is lagna lord in lagna. The D9 Char Dasha (Scorpio: lagna lord and 7th lord exchange) and the 2007 Tajika Navamsa (Mercury–Ketu period) agree. Going abroad (Dec 22, 2007) is read from D4 — Rahu–Rahu, Pisces Char Dasha — and the MCA degree from D24, where Rahu–Moon only makes sense with Pisces lagna, which moves the birth time to 11:31:45.

The cardiologist's marriage on 27 August 1998 came in Moon daśā, Jupiter antardaśā of the navāṁśa Viṁśottarī. Moon is only a neutral 4th lord, but he is in the 9th with lagna lord Mars and 5th lord Sun: two benefics and a neutral make a good yoga. Jupiter gave it rather than the Sun because he is the dispositor of the whole yoga, a functional benefic in a friendly sign, and he aspects the 7th lord Venus with his three-quarter aspect. The class sets this against the old habit of finding a reason for every planet, and returns to Parāśara: a śubha event needs a śubha graha tied to the 7th. The navāṁśa chara daśā was Leo — aspected by the 7th lord, and with lagna lord, yogakāraka and 7th lord together in its 5th — with Sun and Rāhu transiting Leo. In the caturthāṁśa, Saturn daśā links the 7th, 9th, 12th and bādhaka, but as a functional malefic he gives visits, not settlement; Libra chara daśā and the Aries transit of May 2011 time the move, and Saturn in the 10th of both D-4 and D-10 ties it to research.

The 7th house of the caturthāṁśa can mean travel because of marriage, but only a link with the 7th of the navāṁśa lets one say so. The example is a woman who married on 24 January 1999 and was in the US within a week. A marriage case worked from the navamsa and its arudhas. The native married in February 2007, separated in March 2008 and was divorced in January 2009, and asks when he will marry again. The recorded time is moved three minutes so that the D9 lagna is vargottama and the dasha for a vargottama lagna applies; marriage and break then both fall in Saturn dasha, Saturn antardasha. Saturn, yogakaraka and dispositor of the 7th lord, gives the marriage; the same Saturn with Mercury is the 12th and 8th lord from UL and sits in the 12th from A8, which gives the break. The annual navamsa charts of 2006 and 2007 confirm both events, the second through Ketu, a lord of A8 placed in the 11th from A8. The Navamsa has Capricorn rising: the lagna lord Saturn is debilitated but has neecha bhanga and aspects his own sign, the 7th lord Moon is in the 12th (the 6th from the 7th), and the weak point is the 8th lord Sun within 2½° of the badhaka lord Ketu in the 3rd house, which is the 9th from the 7th — the fortune of the marriage. The page then shows why Shodashottari and not Vimshottari is the dasha to use: the Navamsa lagna is in Chandra hora and the birth is in Krishna paksha. A woman born in 1980 with the lagna at 29°46' Virgo is doing very well as a software engineer but her marriage keeps falling through. The D-10 lagna is Aquarius or Libra depending on one minute of birth time; the running D-10 Mars daśā settles it, because from Aquarius Mars is the 10th lord in the 11th in mutual aspect with the 5th lord Mercury in own sign, and he touches the 10th and 5th from Sun and Moon too. In the Navāṁśa the same Mars is the 8th lord, tied to the 8th house from lagna, Sun and Moon and barely to the 7th, with Moon and Rāhu sitting in the 8th: anxiety and tension, not a smooth marriage, and the Rāhu daśā after it is no better. The same marriage question is taken through the Chara daśā of the Navāṁśa, read simply: what house the daśā sign is, how its lord is placed, and the chart from that sign. Aquarius, running until May 2012, is only the 6th house, and Pisces after it is the 7th and better; but the lord of the daśā sign transiting the daśā sign, aspecting it, exalted or in own sign makes a daśā give very good results, and Saturn is exalted in Libra, the 9th from Aquarius, in February 2012. The conditional daśā that applies in this Navāṁśa is Chaturaśīti-sama (10th lord in the 10th), not Aṣṭottarī, and its Mercury–Mercury period adds some hope. The remedies follow from the chart: Subrahmaṇya to get married, because Mars the 8th lord and Rāhu obstruct; Durgā afterwards to keep the marriage, because Moon–Rāhu is there for life; and a Śrīnivāsa Kalyāṇam at Śrīnivāsa Maṅgāpuram, because Mercury is the key planet of the Navāṁśa. A man born in 1974 married in February 2002, had a son in November 2007 after a long wait, and has had an unstable career ever since. The two known events are checked first: Rāhu gave the marriage because he links with the 7th from lagna, Moon and Sun in the Navāṁśa; and the child came in Jupiter–Saturn, not Jupiter–Jupiter, because in the Saptāṁśa Saturn sits in the 5th from lagna and aspects the 5th house and 5th lord from Moon, while the kāraka Jupiter has only weak links. The child's chart has Saṅkrānti doṣa, and in its D-12 the running Rāhu daśā shows losses for the father until 2017 — but the teacher insists this only adds to what the father's own chart must already show. That is Jupiter in the D-10: a functional malefic afflicting the debilitated lagna lord Venus from all three references. Marriage in January 1999 falls in Mars–Rāhu of the Navāṁśa: Mars is the 9th lord aspecting the 2nd house, the 7th lord and the lagna lord, and from Mars Rāhu is the 5th lord in the 5th. The daughter of December 2006 comes in Rāhu–Mercury of the Saptāṁśa (lagna lord in the 3rd, 5th lord in the 5th), and the move to the US in Jupiter–Rāhu of the Chaturthāṁśa. D-24 is checked for education. The Daśāṁśa lagna is then settled as Aries, not the Pisces of three minutes earlier, because only Aries explains a sales and marketing career and a business that Mercury, 6th lord in the 7th, gave and then took back into service.

One chart (June 4, 1974, 9:10 AM IST, Cancer lagna) is checked varga by varga against dated events, using the Vimshottari dasha of each divisional chart. D9 (Virgo lagna): marriage on February 21, 1996 in Jupiter–Mercury — Jupiter is the 7th lord, and lagna lord Mercury sits with 5th lord Saturn in the 5th, the 7th from Venus. D7 (Aquarius lagna): yogakaraka Venus is in the 5th; the class ayanamsa gives Ketu–Mercury and Venus–Moon for the two children, and Ketu cannot be explained, while a second ayanamsa puts both births in Venus dasha — Venus–Venus for the daughter (1998) and Venus–Jupiter for the son (2004), Jupiter being the lord of the second child’s lagna Pisces, exalted in its 5th. Jupiter mahādaśā can give marriage because Jupiter is 5th lord aspecting the 7th house in Navāṁśa; Ketu antardaśā delays because Ketu is 6th lord from Jupiter; Venus antardaśā from January 15, 2013 is the candidate, with a 71% aspect on the 7th house and as 5th lord in the 2nd from Jupiter. Jupiter’s transit into Gemini and the Tithi Praveśa of November 2012 (Hora lord Mars in the 7th; Venus and Mars within 2° of samasaptaka in the annual Navāṁśa) point to the second half of July through September 2013.
