Example Chart (1960) Rahu Dasha: 10L in 12H D10 (Career in Loss) + 8L D2 = Debt Cause; Rahu-Jupiter AD = Local Improvement (Jupiter 11L in Own Sign + D2 Rajyoga); Rahu-Saturn AD 2012-2015 = Major Career Improvement (Yogakaraka + Rahu Friend); A7 in 12th from Lagna = Foreign Business Angle; Durga Worship (1 hr/Friday) + Krishna Worship

Timing the same business through Vimshottari. It began in Mars daśā — 7th lord in the 3rd of D10. Rahu daśā (from September 2007) is the 10th lord placed, by degree, in the 12th house: a functionally neutral planet in A7 that keeps the business going without letting it flourish, and as 8th lord of D2 he brings the long debt. Rahu–Jupiter (May 2010 to October 2012) is better — Jupiter in own sign, 11th from A7, in a rāja yoga with the lagna lord in D2 — but Jupiter is Rahu's enemy, so the gain is modest. Rahu–Saturn (2012–15) is the yogakaraka and Rahu's friend, and is when the teacher expects the major improvement. Remedies: an hour of Durga worship every Friday for Rahu, which also covers health since Rahu is a māraka in lagna; Krishna worship from the 6th from Amatyakaraka for clarity of mission.

Key principle

The bottom line is next years will see some improvement, but it will be 2012–15 that will really see a major improvement in his profession, in his business.

Apr 16, 1960 · 3:55 PM IST · the example (80°37'E, 16°31'N)
D10, Taurus lagna: Rahu, the 10th lord, is in the lagna sign — the class has him at 9° Taurus, below the 14° lagna, so in the 12th house and with A7 (6°6' Taurus). Jupiter, 8th and 11th lord, is in own sign Pisces. Saturn, the yogakaraka, is in Leo — the 4th sign, but the 3rd house by degree. Amatyakaraka Mars is in Cancer; Moon and Mercury in Capricorn fall in the 6th house counted from his degree. D1: Rahu, lord of the 7th, is with the Leo lagna. The debt is read from the teacher's D2 (Cancer lagna, Rahu 8th lord, Moon and Jupiter together in the 8th); the site's D2 uses a different hora scheme and will not show it.
Time:

The Daśās — Why the Business Has Not Taken Off, and When It Improves

Mars daśā — the start

  • The business began about ten years back, in Mars daśā.
  • Mars is 7th lord (Mars and Ketu show getting into business) and sits in the 3rd, the house of starting something. It fits.

Rahu daśā (from September 2007)

  • Rahu is the 10th lord (Aquarius). He is in the lagna sign, but at 9° Taurus against a lagna of 14° he is in the 12th house.
  • The lord of career in the house of compromise, sacrifice, loss and expense. Not a great period.
  • But not a terrible one. The 10th lord is functionally neutral, not a malefic. And he is in A7.
  • A benefic in an ārūḍha blesses it. A malefic curses it. A neutral planet "somehow maintains it". Rahu is in a friend's sign, so it is not that bad. The business "will do okay".
  • From A7, Rahu is in the 1st — new beginnings, not continuing what was being done. Rahu daśā is a good time to redefine and restructure the business, and to bring in a foreign connection.

Lagna and A7 are two different readings

  • From lagna: how the man himself is doing.
  • From A7: how the business is doing.
  • The teacher's example: the world says a man's corporation is doing billions of business, while the man inside is tense about whether the next product will work. A planet can show struggle from lagna and success from A7.
  • The question here is the business, so A7 is the main reference.

Rahu–Jupiter (May 13, 2010 to October 2012)

  • Jupiter is 8th and 11th lord. The 8th is suddenness — a sudden rise or a sudden setback. The 11th is gains and fulfilment of desires.
  • He is in Pisces, his own sign. Planets in own sign or exaltation give good results.
  • From A7 (6° Taurus) Jupiter at about 13° Pisces is in the 11th house of gains.
  • So Jupiter's sub-period is a good one. These two years are better than the two or three before.
  • The limit. A good sub-period inside an average major period will not be super. And Jupiter and Rahu are enemies:

"The major period lord is like the CEO, and the sub-period lord is like the department head. We don't want to raise his hopes and say, oh, suddenly you will become a millionaire. No, he will continue to struggle, but there is definitely hope in the next two years."

Rahu–Saturn (October 2012, about three years)

  • Saturn is the yogakaraka for Taurus lagna — 9th lord of fortune and 10th lord of career.
  • He is in Leo, the Sun's sign, an inimical sign — that is the bad part. But by degree he is in the 3rd house, a good house for Saturn.
  • He is a friend of Rahu. When Jupiter asks Rahu to give good, Rahu refuses. When Saturn asks, Rahu cooperates.
  • So Saturn's sub-period should do better than Jupiter's.

"The bottom line is next years will see some improvement, but it will be 2012–15 that will really see a major improvement in his profession, in his business."

The Debt — D2

Debt is not seen from D10, though it came through the business. Money matters are D2.

The teacher's D2 (a twelve-sign hora chart): Cancer lagna.

  • Rahu is the 8th lord (Aquarius). He is placed in the 11th of gains, not the 12th — but he is the 8th lord.
  • The 6th and the 8th are both houses of borrowing. The 8th is the long debt, the chronic debt — as the 6th is disease and the 8th chronic disease.

"So being the 8th lord, unfortunately, Rahu can give debt. So there is no wonder that he got into debt during this period."

  • Jupiter's period for money. Lagna lord Moon and 9th lord Jupiter are together in the 8th house — the house of sudden ups and downs. Lagna lord with the 9th lord is a rāja yoga. So some improvement in his finances is possible in Jupiter's sub-period.

Conclusion: there is hope in the next two years.

The site's D2 uses a different hora scheme and does not show this Cancer-lagna chart.

Remedies and Health

Durga for Rahu

  • The daśā lord is Rahu. He is under strong Rahu influence, and Rahu shows bad things in D2. Rahu is the problem. For Rahu, pray to Durga.
  • The remedy has to match the problem: a rock can be pulled away by hand, a boulder needs a big machine, a hill is harder still.

"If you pray to Durga just 5 minutes, it won't do much. There's no point. So at least 1 hour every Friday praying to Durga."

  • Even plain "Om Durgāyai Namaḥ" with a mālā for an hour. The mind wanders at first; focus comes slowly.
  • The teacher recommends this strongly. Rahu daśā is running and Rahu is the 10th lord.

The 6th from Amatyakaraka — Krishna

  • A student raised the karakas. The Amatyakaraka is Mars.
  • In D10 Mars is at 26° Cancer. The 6th house from him therefore begins at 26° Sagittarius. Moon and Mercury fall in it (both in Capricorn, by degree inside that 6th house). No other influence of note.
  • Mercury can show Vishnu; the Moon shows Krishna in particular. So: worship Krishna.
  • What it does: it does not give success in the career as such. It gives a clearer idea of his mission and the resources to fulfil it, and clears the obstacles to it. "Suddenly he may realise, why am I doing all this business? Actually, what I need to do is construct a school."
  • For the present question it "may or may not be helpful". What helps directly is Durga.

Health in Rahu daśā

  • Physical matters are read from the rāśi chart.
  • In the teacher's chart Rahu is at the beginning of Virgo and the lagna at the end of Leo, so Rahu is in the 1st house. He is the 7th lord (Aquarius) — a māraka — sitting in lagna.
  • He will not give good health. Health is a concern through this daśā.
  • Durga worship covers this as well — career and health both.
  • (The site's chart puts Rahu at 29°48′ Leo, in the lagna sign itself. The reading is the same.)
