Entrepreneur Case (1960, Virgo Lagna) — Marriage/Accident/Factory/Stock Crash Timeline, Lagna Vimshottari vs Chandra Vimshottari & D16 for Public Transport Accidents
A student's father: a Virgo-lagna entrepreneur (born 1960) who bought a leather-chemical factory on borrowed money, recovered the investment, lost it in the stock market and had to sell the factory. The class tests each dated event against Lagna Vimshottari and Chandra Vimshottari and learns why both are kept: lagna is how you act on the world, Moon is how the world acts on you. Career is read from D10 (Scorpio lagna): lagna lord Mars with Saturn in the 8th makes a risk-taker with a rough ride; the factory comes in Rahu–Venus, the recovery and the fall in Jupiter dasha, the loss of the factory when Saturn dasha begins. The May 2000 crash is read from Hora, where Sun, the 12th lord in the 11th, is eclipsed by Rahu. Also taught: D16 covers accidents in a bus as much as in your own car; Jupiter in gandanta, karaka for diabetes; Saturn for arthritis; the Tithi Pravesha test for whether to start something new; real estate yes, stock market never; Hanuman Chalisa 54 times a day.
Key principle
Moon is that with which the whole world influences you. Lagna is that with which you influence the whole world. Even in cases where Lagna Vimshottari dominates, there may be some areas of life which you see better from the Chandra Vimshottari.
Example Chart
Example chart
Lagna: Virgo 18°36'.
The year is read out as 1960 when the data is entered and as "1968" in the summary for the recording. Every placement the teacher then reads — Jupiter with Saturn, Jupiter in gandanta, Rahu with Sun in the 12th, Ketu in the 6th — belongs to 1960.
Chart
- Mercury (lagna lord, exalted) and Venus in lagna — a Raja yoga.
- Jupiter and Saturn in Sagittarius, the 4th. Jupiter at 1° Sagittarius is in gandanta.
- Moon in Aries, the 8th — marana karaka sthana.
- Mars in Gemini, the 10th.
- Sun and Rahu in Leo, the 12th. Ketu in Aquarius, the 6th.
The native is the father of a student in the class. The birth time is uncertain by about five minutes.
Which Vimshottari
- Kendras from lagna hold 5 planets. Kendras from the 5th star from Moon (Utpanna) hold 5. Kendras from Moon hold none, and Moon is weak in the 8th.
- Lagna has its lord exalted and two benefics in it. Lagna Vimshottari and Utpanna Vimshottari are both stronger candidates than the ordinary one.
- Method: favour one, but "until you see two or three events, keep your mind flexible and open."
Lagna and Moon: two directions
Marriage and the accident fitted Lagna Vimshottari. The illness in Jupiter dasha did not fit it fully at first. That brought this:
"Moon is that with which the whole world influences you. Lagna is that with which you influence the whole world."
- Once there is an "I", there is duality: I and the rest. The rest influences the "I" through Moon. The "I" tries to act on the rest through lagna.
- Strong lagna: individualistic, oriented to his own actions and their consequences. Strong Moon: more reactive.
- Whatever dominates, Chandra Vimshottari is indispensable for the parts of life where the world is acting on you.
"Even in cases where Lagna Vimshottari dominates, there may be some areas of life which you see better from the Chandra Vimshottari."
- Both dashas are used for this chart. By the end the teacher is satisfied with Lagna Vimshottari as the main one. Its dates may be off by days to a month because the lagna is not fully rectified.
Entrepreneur Chart — Marriage and the Bus Accident
Marriage — 2 June 1982
Chandra Vimshottari: Moon–Venus. Navamsa lagna is Gemini.
- With Gemini lagna it makes little sense. If the Navamsa lagna were Cancer, Moon would be lagna lord and Venus his dispositor and the karaka.
- In Rasi, Venus is the UL lord in lagna with the lagna lord, aspecting the 7th. So there is some chance.
Lagna Vimshottari: Rahu–Ketu. Navamsa lagna kept as Gemini.
- UL is in Aquarius, the 9th house of dharma. Rahu is the 9th lord and the UL lord, placed in a trine, the 5th (Libra).
- Ketu is in the 7th from the dasha lord. (He always is from Rahu, but Rahu need not have been the dasha lord.)
- The 7th lord is Jupiter, and Ketu is with him in Aries. They exchange results, so Ketu's antardasha can give Jupiter's.
- Ketu is the karaka for a marriage made to continue the line — a traditional marriage, not a love marriage.
Bus accident — August 1982
Boarding a bus, he fell, his shirt caught, and he was dragged about 200 metres between the tyre and the road. Heavy bleeding. Same Rahu–Ketu antardasha.
- Rasi: Ketu is in the 6th house and Rahu is a 6th lord. A physical problem in Rahu–Ketu is possible.
- D6 (lagna Capricorn): Rahu and Ketu are in Leo, the 8th, with Sun and Moon.
- Rahu is the 2nd lord in the 8th. "2nd lord in the 8th is always a maraka."
- He eclipses the 7th lord Moon and the 8th lord Sun.
- Ketu is the badhaka lord. Badhaka is inexplicable trouble; Ketu's nature is something sudden, a mistake.
- "Rahu and Ketu are really hammering down Moon and Sun. It's a terrible combination in Leo."
- Chandra Vimshottari Moon–Venus: Moon, 7th lord in the 8th of D6, can give big suffering. But Venus is the yogakaraka from lagna, only 6th from Moon. "It makes only some sense." Rahu–Ketu makes "terrific sense."
Does D16 apply to a bus?
A student objected that it was not his own vehicle.
- D16 is not only about a vehicle you own. The 4th is the 2nd from the 3rd — it feeds travel. It is the resource used in travel.
"Vehicle doesn't mean you own it. Vehicle means something you use so that you can move from one place to another place conveniently. It can be a horse, it can be a donkey, it can be a car, it can be a bus."
- For a mishap while travelling in any vehicle, D16 is an applicable chart. (A man who takes the bus every day probably has poor vahana saukhya — A4 would show that.)
- The D16 window is narrow with this birth time, so the teacher treads carefully. In D16 (lagna Virgo) Rahu is a 6th lord and Ketu is with him: some chance of trouble while travelling.
- The injury was physical, so D6 must show it too — that is why D6 was read first.
Entrepreneur Chart — Factory, Stock Market and the Fall (D10 and Hora)
The events
- February 1983: bought a chemical factory (leather tanning). The family sold the house and borrowed heavily to buy it.
- The factory was in trouble for years. By 1998–99 the whole investment was recovered.
- 1999: went into the stock market.
- May 2000: severe crash — shares fell from about Rs 3000 to Rs 100 in two or three months, unsaleable.
- May 2004: second big crash, when the government fell.
- September 2005: improving. October 2005: down again.
- May 2006: the worst, in finances, career and health. The factory was sold in 2005–06 because of the market losses.
Which Dasamsa lagna
The D10 lagna changes 2 minutes earlier and again 10½ minutes later, so Libra was possible. A student argued for Libra. The teacher kept Scorpio:
- The 11th lord (Mercury) is in the 7th house of business.
- Lagna lord Mars is in the 8th, the house of gambling: a risk-taker. That is what makes an entrepreneur.
- Saturn (3rd and 4th lord) is with Mars in the 8th: ups and downs, no smooth ride, suffering in career.
- A3 — initiative — is in lagna, a sign of Mars, the karaka of the 3rd. A bold man who acts.
Buying the factory — Rahu–Venus (Lagna Vimshottari)
- Rahu is the 4th lord in the 5th. "The 4th lord's purpose is to give some direction in career." In the house of purva punya, he showed a path.
- Rahu is in the 3rd from Arudha Lagna (AL is in Capricorn). A malefic in the 3rd from AL gives a bold act, or one seen as bold.
- Venus is in the 12th from lagna: investment — giving something up in professional life.
- Venus is in the 8th from the dasha lord Rahu: a big loan, risk-taking.
- The alternative, Chandra Vimshottari Moon–Sun, was set beside it. The teacher took Rahu–Venus.
- Karaka of the trade: Venus is the general karaka for chemicals. For chemicals that clean hides the teacher would not commit — probably Saturn or Rahu, not Venus.
Jupiter dasha — recovery, then the fall
- Jupiter in D10 is in the 2nd in his own sign: a benefic giving money and resources in career. He is lord of A7, A9 and A10 and sits in A10.
- But he is in the 12th from AL: loss of image.
- Both came in his dasha. The money was recovered, and lost.
May 2000 crash — Jupiter–Sun
Hora (Kashinatha hora, lagna Virgo — the teacher's software):
- Jupiter is badhaka lord, and also gives Hamsa yoga as 4th and 7th lord. Mixed.
- Sun is the 12th lord in the 11th. "He is supposed to give gains, but his agenda is loss."
- Sun is eclipsed by the 6th lord Rahu.
"In any chart Sun and Moon being eclipsed is bad, but when you are talking about finances, it is really, really terrible."
- Sun is the dispositor of A2 and is 12th from A2.
- Sun is in the 8th from AL: sudden loss and a big change in the financial image.
- Sun–Rahu or Moon–Rahu in Hora makes it sudden. Rahu and Ketu give unexpected losses in finance — or unexpected boosts.
D10: Sun is in A8 and owns A6. He is 12th from the 7th house of business, his marana karaka sthana — bad for business and for new dealings, but not terrible for career. So the career felt it a little later.
May 2004 — the second fall
Jupiter–Rahu–Ketu, which by the software ended 17 May 2004. The Rahu–Ketu axis falls on the 11th house.
Saturn dasha — the factory goes (May 2006: Saturn–Saturn)
- D10: Saturn is a functional malefic, 3rd and 4th lord, afflicting the lagna lord in the 8th. A blow to the career as soon as his dasha came. He is in a sign of Mercury with Mars — an uncomfortable yoga.
- Hora: Saturn is the 5th and 6th lord and sits in Arudha Lagna. Saturn in AL is bad for the image in finances. (In the 12th from AL he would be good.)
- A student's objection: Saturn is in the 6th from AL in D10, which is good for material status. The teacher accepted it. Two malefics, Saturn and Mars, in the 6th from AL show a man seen as a bold fighter. He is unlikely to sit idle.
- Saturn dasha has 16 years left. Like Jupiter dasha it can show a fall and then a rise.
- Mercury is the 8th and 11th lord in the 7th of business in D10. A new business can come in Saturn–Mercury. Saturn (machines, civil engineering), Mars (land) and Mercury (money): putting money into construction.
Entrepreneur Chart — Health and Longevity
The illness
- Diabetes from January 1989.
- From 2003–04: insulin, severe throat trouble, arthritis in all fingers and toes. He signs his name with great pain.
Jupiter dasha (Lagna Vimshottari)
- Rasi: Jupiter is the 4th and 7th lord — badhaka lord for a dual lagna. He is with Saturn, the 5th and 6th lord, and they exchange results. Jupiter dasha gives Saturn's results.
- A student pointed out that 4th lord with 5th lord is a yoga. The teacher: yes, and they are also the badhaka lord and the 6th lord together. The yoga shows in one area, the harm in another.
- D6: Jupiter is the 3rd and 12th lord in the 4th with the 4th lord Mars, who is also badhaka lord. Not terrible.
- D30: Jupiter is lagna lord with the 9th lord in the 2nd. Not bad.
- So the suffering did not fully fit. What settled it:
"Jupiter, in addition to being the badhaka lord, is actually in gandanta. Being in gandanta, having severe health problems during Jupiter dasha is quite possible."
- Jupiter is the karaka for diabetes — the planet who gives it when tied to the houses of ill health.
- Jupiter shows kapha. Saturn shows vata. Arthritis is aggravated vata — a Saturn problem. Muscles are Saturn too. A Rahu–Sun affliction would show bone trouble instead.
- Chandra Vimshottari: the trouble began at the end of Mars dasha and ran through Rahu dasha. Rahu is a 6th lord with Sun, afflicting him. That fits as well.
Saturn dasha is worse for health
- Rasi: Saturn gives Jupiter's results, and Jupiter is badhakesha in gandanta. "Whenever badhakesha is in gandanta, it's not a pretty thing."
- D6: Saturn is lagna lord in the 7th. The lagna lord of Shashthamsa is in charge of the person's ill health. Not good.
- D30: Saturn is the 11th and 12th lord in the 4th, with Sun and Moon. All three malefics — Saturn, Rahu, Ketu — afflict Sun and Moon there. Sun is also the 6th lord.
- The vulnerability shown in Trimsamsa will not go away in Saturn dasha.
Will he live?
The family asked directly.
- Saturn gives the results of Jupiter, the 7th lord in gandanta — a maraka. The dasha runs to 2024, and death within it is possible.
- Not now. Saturn–Mercury (March 2008 to 10 December 2010): "absolutely not." With so strong a lagna, the antardasha lord must have marakatva.
- Ketu in the 6th is not a strong maraka. Venus is not a maraka: 2nd lord, but also 9th lord giving Raja yoga in lagna. Sun, badly afflicted in the 12th, can give serious hospitalisation.
- Moon is a strong maraka: in the 8th from lagna, and 8th lord from the dasha lord Saturn. The next period of concern is Saturn–Moon, 2016–17. Saturn–Saturn was also of concern, and it is over.
- "I don't see an end to suffering… but I do see him living for another 8–9 years."
Entrepreneur Chart — The Year Ahead and What Business
This year's Tithi Pravesha (a few days old at the time of the class)
Read from the teacher's screen. The Tithi Pravesha moment is not given, so these placements are not checked.
- Hora lord of the year: Mars.
- D10: Mars and Moon (7th lord) in the 8th. 12th lord Jupiter in the 12th with Ketu and with the 8th lord Sun in his marana karaka sthana. A big professional loss.
- Hora: Mars, lagna lord and 8th lord, in the 7th. "8th lord in the 7th shows death… in that particular area of life." A death in the financial life this year.
- The 4th house of the year's chart gives direction in that area of life. UL is there. Mercury, 3rd and 6th lord, is there. The 4th lord Moon is in marana karaka sthana. He will not find a direction this year.
- 5th is purva punya, 9th is fortune. 5th lord Sun is afflicted by Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. The 9th lord is in the 8th: loss of fortune.
- Advice: no bold new step this year.
Next year's Tithi Pravesha (from 21 August)
- Hora lord Moon: 6th lord in the 10th. 6th is loans and debts, 10th is career.
- Lagna lord Saturn is in the 6th with yogakaraka Venus and with Mercury. A very strong 6th: he may be able to raise the money, and put it into the career.
- D10: Moon is the 5th lord. Mars and Moon, 2nd and 5th lords, exchange — resources and purva punya.
- The 7th lord Sun is with Ketu: a partner may pull out. It does not mean everything goes to ashes.
- "After this August 21st… there is a good chance of some kind of new opportunity."
Stocks or real estate
From the natal Hora:
- Moon is in the 8th, in marana karaka sthana. The 8th lord Mars is in lagna, afflicting it and the 9th lord. Gambling-type investment is not for him.
"Stock market is not at all lucky for him. Don't put any money in stock market again."
- Venus, 9th lord, is in lagna. Ketu is in the 5th. Ketu shows constructing houses; Venus, apartments. Both are well placed in D2. Real estate and construction are acceptable.
- Choose the place carefully. Mars with Venus in lagna and Mars's affliction on Moon make for rash decisions. Having decided, wait two weeks and judge it again.
- A student asked how a man can avoid what the chart shows. The chart shows a tendency, not the amount. "He may be tempted to put those many crores, but he may put a few lakhs." Awareness, will, and propitiating the planet — Mars here — tone it down.
Entrepreneur Chart — Remedies
Hanuman, for career and finances
- For Saturn alone: Namakam every day.
- Mars is with Saturn. For Mars: Hanuman. Hanuman helps for Saturn as well.
"For Saturn–Mars combination in Mercury's sign, I strongly suggest Hanuman."
- The afflictions are severe, so the remedy must be severe. Hanuman Chalisa 54 times every morning. 108 is better and harder. "11 is too small. It won't do much."
- To burn the bad karma shown by bad combinations in a chart, small effort is not enough.
- At least 108 days. A year if possible. He cannot speak well, so someone can do it on his behalf: sit still, eyes closed, Hanuman in mind.
- "If he does one year, 54 times Hanuman Chalisa every day, that can get his career back on track. Even financially."
Mrityunjaya, for health
- Lagna lord Mercury in lagna is the saving grace. Praying to Vishnu for Mercury is good.
- But "praying to the one who is actually giving trouble is more important than praying to the one who is good anyway."
- Jupiter in gandanta: Shiva. Mrityunjaya homa as often as possible. Mrityunjaya mantra heard as often as possible.
- If gandanta shanti was never done, do it.
- The teacher does not expect health to improve soon. "All we can do is limit the damage."
Devatas from the Navamsa
- Ishta devata (12th from Atmakaraka; AK is Sun, in Scorpio in D9): Libra holds Moon with Mars and Rahu — a fierce form of the Divine Mother. Chandi, Chamunda; Chinnamasta is possible. Chandi path (Durga Saptashati) is good for spiritual progress. That can wait a few years.
- Palana devata (6th from Amatyakaraka; AmK is Moon, in Libra): the 6th lord is Jupiter, in Aries with Ketu. Ketu is the 2nd lord from AmK, so either could be taken. The teacher prefers Jupiter: Shiva. For this purpose, Om Namah Shivaya or another Shiva mantra — not the Mrityunjaya mantra.
- Priority now: the Hanuman Chalisa and the Mrityunjaya homa. The rest can wait.
