Example Chart — D4(Sagittarius Lagna): Venus(6L+11L in 2H=Wealth Litigation); 8H(7L+9L+10L)=Inherits Fortune+Dissipates It. KEY PRINCIPLES: Marana Karaka Sthana(Jupiter=3H, Rahu=9H, Venus=6H); 9H from Sun for Father; 4H from Moon for Mother; Dispositor as Landlord Rule; Parivartana Duryoga vs Raj Yoga; Sita Rama for Mercury+Sun+Venus Combination

The D4 (Chaturthamsa) of the same man, read for property and finance, followed by the rules of the whole lesson. Sagittarius rises and the dasha read from D4 is again Venus: the 6th and 11th lord, an enemy of the lagna lord, placed in the 2nd — litigation or tension over wealth and property. Lagna lord Jupiter is in the 3rd, his Maraṇa Kāraka Sthāna, with Ketu, which made the teacher ask about property trouble with siblings (there is none). The 8th house holds the 7th, 9th and 10th lords with the 8th lord: a man who inherits a fortune and blows it off. The summary table collects the lesson's rules on the dispositor, parivartana Duryoga, Maraṇa Kāraka Sthāna, owned house versus occupied house, and the references for father, mother, son and wife.

Key principle

This can be the chart of somebody who inherits a lot of fortune and blows it off.

Example Chart

Example chart — journalist turned farmer (Pisces lagna, 1966)
Feb 4, 1966 · 10:00:10 AM IST · Andhra Pradesh, India. The class software has the nodes about 1° further on and Venus just under 7°30′ Capricorn, so the site differs in D4 (Venus, Ketu) and D12 (Ketu).
D4: Sagittarius lagna. Jupiter (lagna lord) in Aquarius in the 3rd. Moon (8th lord), Sun (9th lord) and Mercury (7th and 10th lord) together in Cancer in the 8th. In class Venus (6th and 11th lord) is in Capricorn in the 2nd and Ketu is with Jupiter in the 3rd; both lie on a division border and the site shows Venus in Aries and Ketu in Scorpio.

D4 Chaturthamsa — Property and Finance

D4 shows bhāgya according to Parasara: properties, real estate.

D4 lagna: Sagittarius
Dasha read from D4: Venus again — "he is under heavy Venus influence."

Venus in D4

  • Venus is the 6th and 11th lord: a functional malefic, and an enemy of the lagna lord of a Jupiterian lagna.
  • In D4 the 6th house shows litigation involving properties, or many obstacles and tensions to overcome.
  • Venus is in the 2nd house of wealth: the 6th lord in the 2nd can give problems or litigation relating to wealth.
  • The dasha lasts a long while yet. There will be some problems.

Jupiter and Ketu in the 3rd

  • Lagna lord Jupiter is in the 3rd house, his Maraṇa Kāraka Sthāna, with Ketu.
  • The teacher therefore asks whether there is property trouble with siblings. The student says there is none. "If that's not the case, that's good."

Three planets in the 8th

  • The 8th house (Cancer) holds Moon (8th lord), Sun (9th lord) and Mercury (7th and 10th lord).
  • The 7th, 9th and 10th lords in the 8th is not a good combination.

"This can be the chart of somebody who inherits a lot of fortune and blows it off."

Key Rules Summary

RuleTeaching
Health methodRasi chart and Vimshottari first, then D30. Judge the chart overall, then the running dasha
Lagna lordWell placed, he protects health; badly placed, he gives trouble. The dispositor of a badly placed lagna lord holds the key
Dispositor = landlordThe planet in whose sign another sits has some control over that planet's agenda
6th, 8th, bādhaka6th lord = illness that comes and goes; 8th = chronic illness; bādhaka lord = problems hard to diagnose
Conjunction by degreePlanets in one sign but 12°–20° apart influence each other only mildly
Parivartana DuryogaExchange between Kendra and Trikona lords = Raj Yoga. Exchange of a Kendra or Trikona lord with a 6th, 8th or 12th lord = Duryoga
ConstitutionLagna and lagna lord show the body, Moon the mind. The running dasha shows the vikṛti
Moon's doshaFull Moon = Kapha, Amāvāsya Moon = Vata, proportional in between
Mercury's doshaTridosha; behaves like the planet he is closest to
Pitta on MoonFire in the head, not in the body: stress, irritation, baldness
VargottamaSame sign in Rasi and Navamsa = particularly powerful

Sita RamaMercury + Sun shows Sri Rama; Venus with them shows Sita
Mercury-Rahu in the 10th (D10)Investigative journalism: Mercury writes, Rahu uncovers the hidden
2nd lord in 10th (D10)Can show the career; Moon = agriculture
Maraṇa Kāraka SthānaJupiter in the 3rd, Rahu in the 9th, Venus in the 6th: particularly ineffective
Owned house vs occupied houseThe house a planet owns is its agenda; the house it occupies is its resources. Not for Rahu and Ketu
10th lord in 5th, weak 5th lordPopularity and following, not political power
JupiterPriest and Mantri, not king — kingmaker
Exalted Sun aspecting the 5th (D10)Can give political power in Sun dasha
Parents and othersMother: 4th from lagna or Moon. Father: 9th from lagna or Sun. Son: 5th from lagna or Jupiter. Wife: 7th from lagna or Venus
