Example Chart (1960): Second Marriage=8th from 7th(2H from Lagna)=Cancer Reference; Navamsa Rectification via Marriage+Divorce Events=Aquarius Rasi+Gemini Navamsa; Saturn(7L in 3H Upachaya from Cancer)=2nd Marriage Possible; Enhanced Viparita=Two Dusthana Lords+Lagna Lord in Kendra; Mercury MD Better; TP 2012: Moon=7L(Cancer)=Yes; Lakshmi Narayana
A man of 52 whose wife never joined him, who fought her suit for over ten years and was divorced in 2007, asks whether to marry again. His lagna sits on the Aquarius–Pisces border, so PVNR tests both Navāṁśa lagnas against Vimśottarī: Jupiter daśā gave the marriage, all of Saturn daśā was trouble, Saturn–Moon gave the divorce — only Aquarius with Gemini Navāṁśa explains all three. The Moon’s antardaśā shows the rule that a natural malefic in the 3rd is good unless debilitated. The second marriage is read from the 8th of the 7th in Navāṁśa — Cancer — taken as a lagna; timing comes from Saturn–Jupiter, the coming Mercury daśā, and the 2012 Tithi Praveśa, where two dusthāna lords join a strong lagna lord in a quadrant from the second-marriage house. Verdict: the second marriage will be markedly better than the first; go for it. Remedy: Lakṣmī and Nārāyaṇa on Wednesdays.
Key principle
7th house is the house of marriage and the 8th from there is Cancer. So Cancer will show the second marriage. Second marriage will be markedly better than first marriage.
Example Charts
1960 Chart — Fixing the Lagna from Marriage and Divorce
The question
- A man of 52. Married around the age of 30, so about 1990. No exact dates.
- His wife did not join him after the marriage. She filed a suit for compensation. It ran for more than ten years.
- Divorce was finally applied for and granted around 2007.
- He wants to marry again for company. Will it succeed? Should he go ahead?
A lagna on the border
Lagna is on the border of Aquarius and Pisces: 18 seconds earlier it is Aquarius. The Navāṁśa lagna changes with it — Gemini or Cancer. Both must be tried.
Rāśi
- Aquarius: 7th lord Sun is in the 7th in own house, with Rāhu.
- Pisces: 7th lord Mercury is exalted in the 7th with debilitated Venus, the 8th lord. Venus is still the kāraka and Mercury's friend; together they cannot wreck the marriage so badly. But the 6th house, with Sun and Rāhu, is powerful and afflicted — fights, quarrels, litigation.
- Rāśi alone does not settle it.
Navāṁśa with Cancer lagna
- 7th lord Saturn is in the 3rd house in a friendly sign.
- Lagna lord Moon is debilitated, but in a trine.
- Mars aspects the 7th house, but he is yogakāraka.
- Not bad enough for a man who had no married life at all.
Navāṁśa with Gemini lagna
- 5th lord Venus is in lagna.
- Lagna lord Mercury is debilitated and aspected by Saturn, who is 9th lord but also 8th lord. Lagna is weak.
- The 7th house holds the Sun in a friendly sign, as 3rd lord. That is fine.
- 7th lord Jupiter is in a friendly sign but with Ketu, a 6th lord, and close to him in longitude. Mars, the other 6th lord, aspects Jupiter, less closely.
Testing with Vimśottarī
Jupiter daśā gave the marriage. With Gemini lagna Jupiter is the 7th lord. He is afflicted, so the wife not joining soon after also fits.
The whole of Saturn daśā was trouble.
- With Cancer lagna Saturn is 7th and 8th lord in the 3rd house. He links two kāma trikoṇa houses and has nothing to do with the 6th, the house of separation. It does not explain the fighting.
- With Gemini lagna Saturn is 8th and 9th lord. By graha dṛṣṭi he aspects the 6th house, the lagna, lagna lord Mercury, and the Moon, who sits in the 6th.
- "8th lord's aspect on the 6th house can aggravate the troubles." The litigation and the absence of marital happiness fit.
Divorce in 2007 — Saturn–Moon.
- With Gemini lagna the Moon is 2nd lord, the house of family, placed in the 6th house of litigation and separation, and debilitated.
- The 6th is the 12th from the 7th. Taking the 7th as lagna, he is in its 12th. He can give a break.
- From Saturn the Moon is in the 3rd house, and that is bad here (see the rule below).
- With Cancer lagna the Moon is lagna lord in the 5th house. Debilitated, but a lagna lord in a trine. He can give tension, not a break of marriage.
A student suggested looking at the chart from Venus. PVNR: that can add fuel to what is already shown, but it does not help in rectification.
The rule: a debilitated malefic in the 3rd
"Natural malefic in 3rd or 6th is good if they are not debilitated."
- Whether an antardaśā lord in the 3rd from the daśā lord is good depends on whether he is benefic or malefic.
- Malefics in the 3rd and 6th are good because they make a person forceful. They give fire and make him act.
- An exalted planet is like somebody at a favourite party. A debilitated planet is like somebody very unhappy where he is.
- The 3rd and 6th are houses of active play. A debilitated planet there is no good.
- The Moon here is a natural malefic and debilitated. His placement in the 3rd from Saturn is bad.
Result
Aquarius lagna in Rāśi and Gemini lagna in Navāṁśa explain the known events. The time is moved back until the Navāṁśa lagna falls in the previous sign: 6:24:41 PM.
Second Marriage — the 8th from the 7th in Navāṁśa
The house
"7th house is the house of marriage and the 8th from there is Cancer. So Cancer will show the second marriage."
- The 8th from the 7th is the 2nd house from lagna. With Gemini lagna in Navāṁśa that is Cancer.
- The second marriage is read in Navāṁśa, not in Rāśi.
- Take Cancer as the lagna of the second marriage. Capricorn, the 7th from it, is the 7th of the second marriage.
Reading Cancer
- No serious influence on Cancer itself, good or bad. So look at its lord.
- The Moon, its lord, is debilitated but in the 5th from Cancer.
- Only Saturn aspects him, by graha dṛṣṭi. From Cancer Saturn is 7th and 8th lord.
- 7th lord aspecting lagna lord is not a bad influence. But Saturn also owns the 8th. "It's not perfect. It's a blemish."
Compared with the first marriage
- For the first marriage the house is Sagittarius and its lord is Jupiter.
- Jupiter is in a trine from it, but with both lords of its 12th house: Ketu is with him and Mars aspects him.
- The second marriage has nothing as bad. "There is a chance of better luck in the second marriage."
Is the Moon in pāpakartarī?
A student asked. Yes: Mars and Rāhu are on one side and the Sun on the other.
- But the Sun is not such a malefic for marriage. "For purposes like marriage, Sun is more like a benefic planet."
- So this pāpakartarī is not strong.
Timing the Second Marriage
Saturn–Jupiter (running)
Saturn, from Cancer
- Saturn is himself the 7th lord and is in the 3rd, an upachaya house. Saturn mahādaśā is good for a second marriage.
Jupiter, from Cancer
- Jupiter is 9th lord (and 6th lord), in the 10th.
- A 5th lord (Ketu) is with him, and Mars, 5th lord and yogakāraka from Cancer, aspects him. From this lagna his company is better.
Jupiter, from daśā lord Saturn
- Jupiter is the 7th lord, of partnership and companionship.
- He aspects the 2nd house from Saturn — the second-marriage house counted from the daśā lord.
Jupiter and the Moon
- Jupiter has a three-quarter aspect on the Moon, who shows the second marriage.
- From Saturn, Jupiter is in the 8th house. The 8th from Jupiter is Scorpio — the 5th from Cancer, the sign holding the Moon.
"This antardaśā has the potential." The next few years can give marriage.
Mercury daśā (next)
From Navāṁśa lagna — for married life in general
- Mercury is lagna lord and 4th lord in the 10th house. Debilitated, and with kendrādhipati doṣa, but a decent planet for marital companionship.
- Saturn is 8th lord in the 4th house — a mokṣa trikoṇa lord in a mokṣa trikoṇa house. "When mokṣa trikoṇa is activated in the chart of marriage, that's not a great thing."
- So Mercury daśā will be better than Saturn daśā for marital companionship.
From Cancer — for the second marriage
- Mercury is 3rd and 12th lord in the 9th house: a malefic, debilitated, in a trine. A mixed daśā, neither great nor terrible.
- Saturn, 8th lord from Cancer, aspects him. Saturn is in the 3rd, Mercury in the 9th.
- 8th lord and 12th lord in samasaptaka is not bad. Mercury is in a trine, but in debility, and being in a trine in debility is not like being in a trine.
"It is almost like a completely functional Viparīta Rāja Yoga."
- Saturn daśā is good for the second marriage. Mercury daśā is probably slightly better.
Tithi Praveśa of 2012
- The ruler of the year is the Moon. In the annual Rāśi chart he is in the 8th house.
- PVNR goes straight to Navāṁśa, because the 2nd house as the house of second marriage belongs to Navāṁśa.
Navāṁśa of the annual chart (Sagittarius lagna)
- Lagna lord Jupiter is exalted and aspects the 2nd house, Capricorn, by graha dṛṣṭi.
- 2nd lord Saturn is exalted in the 11th house with Mercury and the Sun.
- Take the 2nd house as the lagna of the second marriage. Its lord Saturn is exalted in a quadrant from it.
- With him are the Sun, the 8th lord from there, debilitated — "that is good" — and Mercury, who is 9th lord and 6th lord from there.
- The Moon owns Cancer, the 7th from that 2nd house. So the ruler of the year is the 7th lord for the second marriage.
Viparīta Rāja Yoga with the lagna lord in a quadrant
"If two dusthāna lords are together in a dusthāna, that is Viparīta Rāja Yoga. But if they are together with the lagna lord in a quadrant, that is an even better Viparīta Rāja Yoga."
- The lagna lord must be strong for it.
- Here, from the 2nd house, 6th lord Mercury and 8th lord Sun are with exalted lagna lord Saturn in a quadrant.
- Examples from earlier classes: Obama's chart, and P.V. Narasimha Rao's — lagna lord Mercury in own sign in the 10th house with the Sun and Mars, the 12th and 8th lords.
Verdict
- Marriage is possible within this annual year, in the TP daśās of Saturn, Moon or Jupiter.
"Second marriage will be markedly better than first marriage. Though not perfect, it will be better. And there is a chance of marriage in the next couple of years. So it is a good idea to consider the possibility and go for it."
Remedy for Marriage — Lakṣmī and Nārāyaṇa
Asked for a remedy, PVNR looked for the key planet in the natal Navāṁśa.
- A 5th or 9th lord in lagna protects. Venus is the kāraka for marriage and is the 5th lord in lagna. Propitiating Venus is one possibility.
- Lagna lord Mercury is debilitated and his daśā is coming.
- Worship the lagna lord and the planet in lagna together: Mercury and Venus — Lakṣmī Nārāyaṇa.
- Saturn in a sign of Mercury also shows Viṣṇu or his avatāras.
- Chant Lakṣmī Aṣṭottaram and Viṣṇu Aṣṭottaram, on Fridays or Wednesdays. Lagna is Gemini, so Wednesday.
- Every Wednesday: Lakṣmī stotra, then Mṛtyuñjaya stotra, then Lakṣmī stotra again.
