Education & Scholarly Achievement — D24 Siddhamsa

Three charts read in class. Pandit Sanjay Rath’s D-24: lagna lord Mercury and 5th lord Venus in Gemini lagna give Parashara’s Maharaja Yoga of following, Jupiter in Pisces in the 10th spreads the knowledge of the Maharshis, 9th lord Saturn shows the guru, and a Graha Malika Yoga runs from the 10th to the lagna. Sri Aurobindo’s D-24: the lords of the 1st, 5th, 9th and 10th together in the 2nd, Sun with Rahu and Ketu in the 8th of sadhana, Gajakesari Yoga in the 12th — moksha in the matter of learning. Swami Chandrashekhara Saraswati’s Rasi chart: lagna lord and 5th lord in the 10th, a debilitated Moon with Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga, and Tapasvi Yoga of Venus, Saturn and Ketu across the 2nd and 8th with Argala on the 10th. D20 Vimshamsa — Spirituality Chart & Three-Level Framework

D-20 is the chart of spiritual growth, and the ability it asks for is bhakti. The 5th from lagna is the devotion itself, A5 is the pujas and mantras by which it becomes visible, and the 5th from Arudha Lagna is whether people take the person for a bhakta. Houses counted from an arudha show the fortunes of that trophy or puja, not the person; Arudha Lagna is the exception. Debilitated planets are the strongest in D-20 because they show submission to the deity. PVNR's own D-20 shows it: debilitated Venus in the 5th aspects A5 in Sagittarius, and in Guru antardasha — Jupiter owning A5 and having argala on it from a sign of Venus — he began reciting Lakshmi's 108 names every Friday, on 28 January 1994.

Atmakaraka, Karakamsha & Mahapurusha Yoga

Pandit Sanjay Rath, as guest teacher, on the Atmakaraka: the planet with the highest degree in its sign (Rahu counted from the end of the sign), because it has taken the most light from that sign’s the native. Its flaws are stamped on the person: Sun gives ego, Moon cannot stand alone, Rahu gives shocks and makes either a saint or a criminal. Planets in trine to the Karakamsha show the trigger, and two malefics there make a Mantrika. Whether the shock makes a saint is read from the Arudha Lagna: the 3rd from it is what is in the hand, the 6th what is renounced, and the lord of that sign gives the deity. Worked on Prabhupada (Rahu AK, tea as the trigger, Krishna) and Vivekananda (Sun AK in lagna, marriage as the trigger, Kali).

Ishta Devata & the Path to Moksha

The Atmakaraka is the Jivatma with one weakness that keeps it apart from the Paramatma — ego for Sun, compassion and maya for Moon, coldness for Saturn — and it speaks as the conscience. In the Rasi chart, AK in a quadrant or trine from lagna means the person follows that conscience. In the Navamsa, the 12th from the AK shows the Ishta Devata, the deity who leads the soul to give up its identity: take the planet there, else the sign lord. Ketu in that 12th with rasi drishti of benefics only gives moksha — Ramana Maharshi (Moon AK) has it with two benefics and one malefic aspecting. PVNR's own chart and three student charts are worked the same way, ending with how a mantra works: sound and thought together.

Ishta Devata — 12th from AK in Navamsa

The 12th from the Atmakaraka in Navamsa is where the atma gives up its identity; pray to the deities of the planets there. Ketu there does not give moksha but makes the person highly qualified for it. If Ketu is alone, take the lord of that sign: the house he occupies from the Navamsa lagna shows how the soul is led. Ramana Maharshi and George W. Bush both have Ketu in the 12th from the AK — in one the sign lord is in the 12th from lagna (a tapasvi), in the other the lords are in the 10th (detached, but tied to karma). Also: the 10H of Navamsa is karma done for dharma; the 9H of Dasamsa is dharma kept while doing karma.

Charakaraka Replacement, AK Sign & Ishta Devata

When two planets are in the same degree the higher becomes the karaka, and later in life the Atmakaraka can be replaced by the next planet — a spiritual transformation that changes all the dynamics. How to read the AK in navamsa: its house from lagna, its sign (Taurus does its duty and is done; Aquarius keeps pondering), the planet it joins, and the argala on it. Ishta Devata from the 12th from AK and Dharma Devata from the 9th from AK, both in navamsa, always from the original AK; lagna in the 12th from AK marks a spiritual person. Also: physical features used to choose between two rasi lagnas.

Identifying a Saint's Chart — Moola Dasha & AK Kendradhi Dasha

How to tell a saint from a materially inclined person: the 3rd and 6th from Arudha Lagna show the manifested fighting nature — the 3rd the first instinct, the 6th the finishing off — and a saint has only benefics there. Worked on Swami Jayendra Saraswati's chart days after his arrest in November 2004: AL in Pisces, Taurus empty, Venus in Leo, Mars the only malefic influence, so the murder charge is against his nature. Then the 9th lord's ṣaṣṭyaṁśa (Deva against Rākṣasa) and Moola Dasha, which shows when past-life karma gives its result: Mercury's Moola Dasha, 1967–1981, and the 0-or-12-years option. Atmakaraka Kendradi Graha Dasha is named as the dasha of the soul's evolution and left for a later class.

D10 Dasamsa Analysis for a Saint's Karma Direction

The natal daśāṁśa of Swami Jayendra Saraswati. From Scorpio lagna the 9th lord Moon and the 10th lord Sun are together in Pisces in the 5th house: Dharma-Karma Adhipati Yoga in a sāttvic sign, in the house of following. Ketu is with them, and because he is with more planets than Mars he is the lord of Scorpio — so lagna lord, 9th lord and 10th lord are joined and the Raja Yoga is far stronger. The direction of the karma is read from the deity of each planet's daśāṁśa: Sun and Ketu in Ananta aṁśa turn the karma to spirituality, and Moon, the 9th lord, in Agni aṁśa makes his dharma the transformation of society. The rāśi chart shows a sādhu and sannyāsī; the daśāṁśa shows a respected leader with achievements.

Parivrajya Yoga, Saturn/Rahu AL Rules & Mahapurusha Priority

Parivrajya Yoga makes a genuine renunciate: Moon in a navāṁśa of Mars, together with Saturn or aspected by him in the rāśi chart. Swami Jayendra Saraswati has it at its strongest, Moon and Saturn joined in Saturn's own Aquarius. The same Saturn sits in the 12th from Arudha Lagna — a Raj Yoga for Saturn and Rahu — so he is seen as powerful and, by some, as a sanyasi who has given up giving up. The class then opens Jayalalithaa's chart and settles which of two Mahapurusha Yogas dominates: the trikona comes first (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha), then exaltation over Moolatrikona over own sign. K.N. Rao is the example for Malavya over Hamsa, and Jupiter, not Venus, is the planet of diplomacy.

D10 Career, Retrograde Planets & D20 Vimsamsa Spiritual Progress

Subbalakshmi's Dasamsa (D-10), Aries lagna. Saturn and Ketu in lagna make a hardworking, detached, dynamic worker. Lagna lord Mars and 11th lord Saturn exchange signs — a Dhana Yoga, which in D-10 means every resource needed for one's karma. Sun in the 2nd gives political connections as a resource. Moon and Jupiter exchange the 4th and 9th — a Raj Yoga that joins dharma and contentment. The Arudha Lagna of D-10 is the public image: hers is Sagittarius with Moon and no malefic on it, an unblemished reputation. A retrograde planet is strong, not weak: it carries an unfinished desire from past lives, brings extra effort and a test, and mostly delivers. The Vimsamsa (D-20) shows spiritual progress: her lagna lord and 5th lord in the 9th, aspected by Yogakaraka Saturn — progress through her work.

D30 Trimshamsa — Subconscious Disease, D7 Children & Jupiter's Signs

Disease is a three-step process: D-30 shows the subconscious root, D-6 the weak tissue, the Rasi chart what is suffered. D-30 works on the subconscious plane and shows the Shadripus — kama, krodha, lobha, moha, mada, matsarya — each defined as the teacher defines it; mada is fanaticism, not alcohol. Then her Saptamsa (D-7): Venus, Mercury and Saturn all in trines deny children, one or two only make it difficult. The 5th lord of the Rasi chart is judged in D-7, and where a sign has two lords the one sitting in it gives way to the other — so Rahu, in the 6th, rules her Aquarius. Jupiter in the 5th of D-7 would bless, but as 6th lord of the Rasi chart he owns the 2nd from the 5th and denies. The page ends with Jupiter's two signs: Sagittarius, fiery dharma on duty; Pisces, the Maharshi at peace.

D20 Spiritual, Physical Appearance, D6 Health During Dashas & D2 Hora

One rectified chart read through five divisions. D20 (Vimsamsa): Atmakaraka Moon in the lagna with lagna lord Jupiter opposite — effortless spiritual growth; the 5th shows the deity of personal attachment (Krishna), the 2nd the Kula Devata (Veerabhadra). D10: planets counted from the Arudha Lagna and the Dikpala amsha of the dasha lord — why Jupiter Dasha looks unambitious and Saturn Dasha brings a rise. Body and Ayurvedic constitution from the lagna: a Mars-ruled lagna aspected by the Sun is about 90% Pitta; Prakriti against Vikriti; planets that link a dusthana to the lagna bring disease. D6 for health in each dasha, including low blood pressure from Saturn on the Moon. D2 (Kashinatha Hora) for money: lords in Marana Karaka Sthana and the Badhaka lord in the 12th. Ends with PVNR's definition of sunrise.

Drig Dasha — Spiritual Significance & D24 Narayana Dasha for Education

A bright student dropped out of college at the end of 1998 and withdrew into meditation; the class asks why. Dṛg daśā is the daśā of spiritual life: a daśā sign aspected by Ketu brings spiritual awakening, one aspected by Rahu brings confusion, and with both nodes in dual signs both act together. The D-24 Narayana daśā has two seeds — the 12th lord of the rāśi chart for the complete siddhi, the 4th lord for formal schooling. Run from the 4th lord, Taurus daśā (1990–2001) is aspected by A3 (a short break) and A8 (a complete break), which the sign gives in its last third — when he dropped out. In Gemini daśā the last third goes to Sun and then to Saturn, yogakāraka and 9th lord, the house of the bachelor’s degree. The Tithi Praveśa of 2005 confirms the turn.

Pope John Paul II — Tapasya Yoga, Lakshmi Yoga & D10 Dikpala Analysis

The class opens with eclipses: paired solar and lunar eclipses with the nodes in dual signs, mostly Virgo–Pisces, fell within a month of 80% of the papal changes of the last 190 years. Then Pope John Paul II’s chart. Lagna lord Venus with 9th lord Mercury in the 7th gives Lakshmi Yoga; Venus within a quarter degree of Ketu, with Saturn in a trine, gives Tapasya Yoga — in the Kama Trikona, so some desire stands behind the tapasya. The Arudha Lagna gives the image of a humble, wise, fearless priest; the Navamsa trines give his abilities; Jupiter and Ketu flanking Navamsa lagna mark a lineage. In D-10 the lagna-axis planets sit in Ishana amsa and none in Ananta: a religious man, which is not the same as a spiritual one. Mars in the D-10 Arudha Lagna in Indra amsa gives power, and Dwisaptati Sama Dasha (lagna lord in the 7th) was running Mars–Venus when he became Pope.

Jaimini Upadesha Sutras — Kathapayadi Encryption & Swamsa (Navamsa Lagna)

An introduction to the Jaimini Upadesha Sutras. Jaimini went deeper into parts of Parashara's teaching — Arudhas, Navamsa, sign-based dasas — and coded his key words with the Kathapayadi Varga: letters become digits, the digits are reversed and divided by 12, so "labha" (34 → 43 → remainder 7) means the 7th house. Navamsa is the Dharmamsa: it carries past dharma and abilities forward. Swamsa is mostly the Navamsa Lagna, sometimes the Karakamsa; only planets in it, in its trines, or aspecting it by rasi drishti count, and planets on both sides of it (kartari) act almost as if in it. Also covered: a parivartana needs a dasa–antardasa trigger, Saturn in the 9th, Sri Lagna against Navamsa Lagna, and why Jaimini must be used with more caution than Parashara.

Planetary Abilities in Swamsa — Vocations, Character & Tapasva Yoga

What each planet gives when it is in the Navamsa Lagna, in a trine to it, or aspects it by rasi drishti: Sun administration, Venus management, full Moon with Venus the educationist, Mars metallurgy and warfare, Mercury business and quick learning, Jupiter broad knowledge with depth in one subject, Saturn success in any line through hard work, Rahu poisons, medicines and big machines, Ketu transport, computers and parampara. These are abilities that come without training; they do not fix the career. Then the combinations up to stanza 1.2.41: Sun–Rahu and poison, the arsonist and the firefighter, Saturn–Rahu, Moon in the 4th and the sailor, Gulika, Venus–Ketu, impotence and childlessness, Tapasvi Yoga (Saturn aspecting Venus and Ketu — without Venus, a fraud), and the 10th from Swamsa and Karakamsa. The rule that an organ's function is seen from the 9th from its house, and when Navamsa abilities come out, are also given.

Swamsa Analysis Applied — PVNR, Gates, Example chart — education and career (1988) & Pope

The Swamsa rules read on four Navamsas. PVNR: Sun and Ketu in trine to a Taurus Navamsa Lagna, Sun in exchange with Saturn, and Mercury, Moon and Venus in kartari — administration, hard work, computers, tradition, the teacher. A boy born in 1988, known to be artistic: Venus, Ketu and Jupiter in a Scorpio Navamsa Lagna, with about seven of the nine planets influencing it. Bill Gates: Jupiter in the Navamsa Lagna and Sun in trine — judgment and administration, with Mercury for business. Pope John Paul II: Mercury in the lagna, Saturn and Moon in trines, Jupiter, Venus and Ketu in kartari — and why his Tapasvi Yoga is "not exactly" formed.

Spirituality in D20, 4H from AK, Gem Remedies & Drig Dasha Introduction

No single planet makes a spiritual person: Jupiter gives the jnani, Sun the atma-jnani, Saturn the yogi and ascetic, Moon compassion, Mars the forceful sadhaka, Ketu the one close to moksha. The Moon–Saturn combination runs from simplicity and vairagya to depression, decided by closeness, Jupiter’s aspect, Saturn’s lordship and D-30. In D-20, the chart of upasana, the planet in the 4th from Atmakaraka shows the marga the soul wants (Jupiter or Sun: Vedic jnana; Moon, Mercury or Venus: bhakti; Saturn: yoga and kriya), while the 5th and 9th from Lagna show what the person actually practises. PVNR offers this as his own finding from 20–25 charts. A first mention of Drig Dasa, which starts from the 9th house and is auspicious in a sign holding or aspected by Ketu. Gems are a rajasic loan and prayer is risk-free: which lords’ gems to avoid and which may be worn.

D60 Shashtiamsha — Four Levels of Karma, Past Life & Moola Dasha

A gemstone or any rajasic remedy only postpones karma, like paying a debt with a bank loan; sattvic remedies and penance burn it. Karma works at four levels — individual, family, society, universal — in decreasing order of importance. The Rasi chart is the physical existence, the other divisional charts are the environments around it, and the Shashtiamsa (D-60) is the karma from all past lives that is discharged through them, which is why it outweighs Rasi and Navamsa combined in Dasavarga Vimsopaka. The Arudha Lagna of D-60 is read as the lagna of the immediately previous life, and Moola Dasha times the karma shown from the D-60 lagna. D-60 lagna changes every two minutes of birth time, so it is the last step, used only after the other charts are rectified.

Shashtiamsha Amsha Names, Past-Life Phobias & Vimsopaka Bala

The 3rd house from the Arudha Lagna of D-60 shows the death in the past life: the sign gives the place, and the planets in it or having rasi drishti on it give the manner — Mars weapons and blood, Saturn a long illness, Sun the king's order or fire, exalted Moon drowning, Ketu a mistake. That death leaves a phobia in this life, which is the one thing about a past life that can be verified. The six Shashtiamsa names met in the class — Indu, Mrityu, Davagni, Bhrashta, Dandayudha, Kulaghna — say what kind of karma a planet carries, and the amsa is blended with the planet's place in the chart. In Dasavarga Vimsopaka Bala the Shashtiamsa is weighted above Rasi and Navamsa together.

Pt. Sanjay Rath — Full D60 Shashtiamsha Analysis & Moola Dasha

Pt. Sanjay Rath's rectified Shashtiamsa, read two ways. From its Arudha Lagna (Pisces) for the past life: a scholarly occult teacher, and exalted Moon in the 3rd from AL — death by drowning, hydrophobia in this life. From its lagna (Cancer) with Moola Dasha for the karma of this life, each dasha planet taken by its Shashtiamsa name and its place in the chart: Sun in Indu as a maraka (a near-drowning as an infant), Venus in Mrityu handing over Mars's Dhimanta Yoga results (the student years), Atmakaraka Saturn in Bhrashta (1985–2003: occult learning, the mission, and its obstacles), Ketu and Rahu in Dandayudha, and exalted Jupiter in Kulaghna — the lineage to be founded.

Young Woman Chart (1980) — Sanyasa Indicators & Spiritual Path Analysis

A 24-year-old woman wants to renounce the world; her family asks whether she will undo it later. The chart has no pravrajya yoga, yet rasi, navamsa, D-20 and D-10 agree on a spiritual life: Ketu in the 12th, lagna lord in the 8th with Sun and Jupiter, Ruchaka Yoga, Dhimanta Yoga, the 8th–12th exchange in D-20, Gajakesari and Lakshmi Yoga in the 12th of D-10. The page teaches the D-20 Narayana Dasha from the 8th lord and how to read the dasha sign from the Atmakaraka. It then reads marriage (Shatabdika Dasha, Upapada), children (Saptamsa) and the spouse (7th lord and his graha arudha). The verdict: she goes down the spiritual path, and later marries and has one child. Narasimha is the deity advised.

Deity Recommendations from Chart Analysis

The class ends with two things for the native to do. The Palana Devata, for livelihood and material life, is read from the 6th house from Amatyakaraka in the Navamsa: Mars is there, so a fiery form of the Divine Mother — Bagalamukhi, Chandi or Chamundi. For career, the Jyotirlinga of the 5th lord of the Dasamsa is worshipped: the 5th lord is Moon, in marana karaka sthana, so Somanatha, with the mantra Om Namah Shivaya Namah Somanathaya. PVNR also separates the three roles: a Vishnu avatar as Ishta Devata for moksha, a Devi form for the material plane, a form of Shiva for career.

Muhurtha as Guidelines, 3rd from AL in D60 for Death & Nasthajatakam

In muhūrta the names of yogas and karaṇas are only guidelines: the placement of the lord in the natal chart and in the muhūrta chart decides, so Saturn’s Viṣṭi karaṇa can be the best choice for one person and Jupiter’s Garija a bad one for another. When the time cannot be chosen, go with the flow and pray to the deity of the weak planet. The class then covers how errors of birth place and birth time act on the lagna and the Moon, and why a birth time cannot be found reliably from the day alone. The 3rd from Āruḍha Lagna shows the kind of death — Mars or Rahu a violent weapon, Jupiter a death known in advance; the same combination in D-60 speaks of the previous life — tested on Ramana Maharshi. Also Naṣṭa Jātaka (the lost horoscope, a special praśna) and how to convince skeptics with hard-to-guess, objective predictions.

Sathya Sai Baba Chart Analysis — Spiritual Combinations & Vishnu Avatar Rule

Parāśara’s combination for an avatāra of Vishnu: a rāja yoga between at least two planets that are both in Devalokāṁśa; the same with two planets in Siṁhāsanāṁśa gives a world emperor. Sathya Sai Baba’s chart: Scorpio lagna with four planets, the 8th lord in lagna, Rahu in the 8th and exalted Ketu in the 2nd for mystic ability and magnetic speech; in Navāṁśa both Ketu and the lagna are in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka Jupiter — a saint with a good chance of mokṣa, though Ketu is with Saturn. Ramana Maharshi is the comparison: no nodes on the 8th, so no miracles; Ātmakāraka Moon with Ketu in the 10th; Ketu in Īśāna aṁśa in the Daśāṁśa lagna; and Ketu alone in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka in Navāṁśa. The rules used: Ketu in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka with only benefic aspects gives mokṣa, siddhis come from the 8th and 12th, and a person close to liberation needs only the Iṣṭa Devatā. Ends with the chart of the moment of death and the 14 lokas.

Example chart — spiritual practice (1966) Chart, Physical Features by Lagna & Sign

An example chart of a spiritual practitioner born in 1966. Navāṁśa: Ātmakāraka Sun in Gemini with Ketu in the 12th from him, aspected only by Saturn — close to liberation, with lives still to go. Rāśi: Scorpio lagna, lagna lord Ketu in the 12th with the 8th lord Mercury — strong spiritual experiences, which the student confirmed. Deity from the influences on Ketu (Saturn in Cancer): Vishnu as Veda Nārāyaṇa. The Nārāyaṇa daśā of D-20 times the experiences, the 3rd from Āruḍha Lagna and A8 show the loss of ego in samādhi, and Lakṣmī Yoga from two exalted trine lords is the biggest yoga. The second half gives the looks and attitude of the lagna signs and of planets in lagna as discussed in class, and shows where they help in rectification: choosing between two neighbouring lagnas, not finding a lagna from nothing.

Tapasvi Yoga, Retrograde Planets, A4+A9 Together & AL in D24

Four points from a substitute class, three of them out of one student's D-12. Tapasvi Yoga is Saturn, Venus and Ketu in combination — hard work, passion and detachment — named from Bhrigu's penance hanging upside down; the person works on regardless of weather or situation, and Saturn with Ketu gives vairagya. A retrograde planet is as strong as an exalted one: cheshta bala means to try, so it does not give up and stands on its own beside another planet. A4 and A9 in the same sign link the parents' destinies closely, so that what one goes through the other feels; here both fall in Pisces, the 6th from the D-12 lagna. The arudha lagna in D-24 shows how a person manifests in learning — benefics give a knowledgeable person, tamasic planets a leaning to tantra — but character cannot be judged from D-24 alone.

Sarvatobhadra Chakra & Tribhagi Examples — Pranapada, Agitation & Spiritual Path

Three charts read with Tribhagi Vimshottari and the Sarvatobhadra Chakra, taken from the written class notes (the recording stops as the first chart is opened). Chart 1: Pranapada Lagna in Shravana, Vishnu’s star, during the Moon–Shravana dasha, with the speed check that decides the direction of each planet’s full aspect. Chart 2: a native agitated in the Ardra dasha and again in the Punarvasu dasha — Mrityu, the upagraha that is the son of Mars, sits in Punarvasu and Moon’s 15th-nakshatra aspect falls there; when Kala, Mrityu or Gulika is in the nakshatra, worship its deity, here Aditi. Chart 3: the Vishakha dasha with Ketu transiting Vishakha at the end of 2003 and start of 2004, the time to decide on Vedic learning and detachment. Order of importance: planet in the nakshatra, Vedha, aspect, then Latta.

Palana Devata, Healing via 4th House & Dasa Mahavidya — 10 Divine Mothers Mapped to Planets

The remedy for the alcoholism chart. Ishta Devata, read from the Ātmakāraka in Navāṁśa, is for moksha; for a trouble of sustenance the teacher takes the Palana Devata — the 6th from the Amātyakāraka in Navāṁśa — and finds Saturn in its own sign there. He cross-checks with the house of healing, the 4th (mother nurses the sick; Moon is its kāraka): the 4th lord Venus is in a sign of Saturn. Saturn is Kali among the Dasa Mahavidyas, so the remedy is prayer to Kali, and Venus in the 4th from the Ātmakāraka in Navāṁśa shows the Mother’s blessing is already there. The page gives the full mapping of the nine planets and lagna to the ten Mahavidyas, sāttvik against tantric worship, how the family should start the remedy, the helpful antardaśās, and the books to trust.

Kali Upasana Indicators, Shadripu & 8th Lord in Trine House

Addiction is a weakness and belongs to the 6th house, the ṣaḍripus; which weakness it is shows in D-30 and D-11 — Venus badly placed in D-11 gives a weakness for women. An 8th lord in the 5th: the 8th house gains, but a malefic in a trine takes that house’s resources for 8th-lord work and pollutes it; the saving factor in the example is a strong 5th lord Mars aspecting the 5th. Kali upasana is shown by Saturn with Moon, or Mars and Saturn aspecting Moon, and the Divine Mother’s blessing by Moon and Venus on the lagna in the rāśi chart and D-20 — both seen in the second example chart.

Navamsha Cross-Check, Lakshmi + Sita-Rama Remedy & Mahavidya Warning

The Navamsha of the annual chart is checked last, because Navamsha is the inner protection. Atmakaraka Jupiter and Amatyakaraka Moon of the year are together in Cancer — Moon in own sign, Jupiter exalted — and Venus, ruler of the year and Putrakaraka, is exalted in the 10th in a trine from them: a very good year, and the Venus dasha that began badly can end well. The remedy is Lakshmi for Venus. The teacher adds Sita-Rama as an intuitive suggestion, not from any classic: counted from the Amatyakaraka, the Navamsha has Moon and Jupiter in Cancer with Venus and Sun exalted, as in Sri Ramachandra’s chart. Mahavidyas are not to be recommended for a job or for ordinary knowledge: they give the supreme knowledge that liberates; for the rest pray to Durga, Saraswati, Lakshmi, Hayagriva, Shiva or Krishna.

D20 Vimsamsa Spirituality Analysis — Narayana Dasha 3-Part Rule & Internal vs External Karma

D20 shows how you modify yourself; D10 shows how you modify the world, so the wish to spread spirituality in society is a Dasamsa matter. The example is a pediatrician on a spiritual path: D20 lagna lord Saturn in the 12th shows internalized meditation, and Mars (5th and 12th lord of the Rashi chart, the kāryeśa for D20) joins the 9th lord Mercury and both nodes in the 10th of D20. The Narayana daśā three-part rule: a śīrṣodaya sign gives in the first third, a pṛṣṭhodaya sign (Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius, Capricorn) in the last third, the lord by the sign he occupies, and aspects and yogas on the sign in the middle third. In D20 the 7th and 8th houses show the end of the inner struggle, not death. The annual D20 for 2006 shows the sādhanā turning into outward activity.

The Upapada here is in Capricorn, a dry sign, and its 2nd lords Saturn and Rahu sit in the 8th from it, so the first relationship does not become a marriage; the next one is read from the 8th house from the UL (Leo), and in navāṁśa from the 8th from the 7th. Rahu or Ketu on the Upapada or its 2nd lord shows a partner from across a cultural barrier, not necessarily another country; love is a separate matter, shown by Venus, A7, the 5th house and UL. The year's Tithi Praveśa is read for a chance of marriage. Swamsa here means the Navamsa Lagna, unless Jaimini explicitly means the Karakamsa. The page gives his statement for each planet in Swamsa — Sun government and social service; full Moon with Venus luxuries and an educationist; Mars metals, arms and fire; Mercury trade and legal norms; Jupiter a karma yogi who excels by intelligence; Venus a passionate, virile official; Saturn success in any line through hard work; Rahu a bowman or thief who handles poisons; Ketu elephants, swindling, mathematics — with the teacher's notes, including Rahu as import and Ketu as export. Read planets in the Navamsa Lagna first, then its trines, then planets aspecting it; its lord and a Kartari also count. The Navamsa shows ability because only dharma is carried over from the past life; the Dasamsa shows what the person does with it. The 9th house is the good karma done, the 5th the credit remaining. To check a Navamsa Lagna, match its planets to the person's known character.

Marana Karaka Refinement, Navamsha Trikona-Kendra Mathematical Proof & Moksha Indicators from Karakamsa

A planet in Marana Karaka Sthana that sits in its own sign, mūlatrikoṇa or exaltation is neutralised, not cleared: both the trouble and its cancellation are seen. When a good placement is also a Marana Karaka Sthana from the Karya Bhava (Jupiter in the 9th of Navāṁśa), judge the karaka of the varga first — Venus in Navāṁśa. The class then works by hand, from a 16° Aries lagna, why every Rāśi trikona lands on one Navāṁśa kendra: Dharma (1-5-9) on the 1st, Artha (2-6-10) on the 10th, Kama (3-7-11) on the 7th, Moksha (4-8-12) on the 4th. That is why malefics in the 10th of Navāṁśa unsettle finances, and why Jaimini Sutra 1.2.70 names the 4th beside the 12th. Sutras 1.2.67–1.2.71 follow: Jupiter in the 9th gives authority; benefics in the 12th from Karakāṁśa take the soul to an auspicious world; Ketu in the 12th or 4th gives final emancipation; malefics there deny it — with the teacher’s caveat that Sun and Ketu count as benefics on the spiritual plane.

Ishta Devata by 12th from Atmakaraka (Jaimini Sutras 1.2.72–1.2.81), Palana Devata & Mantra/Tantra Indicators

Jaimini Sutras 1.2.72–1.2.81 give the Ishta Devata from the planet in the 12th from Karakāṁśa: Sun with Ketu — Shiva; Moon — Gauri, with the form of the Mother following the Moon’s phase (Kali near Amāvāsyā); Venus — Lakshmi; Mars — Skanda; Mercury or Saturn — Vishnu; Jupiter — Sāmbaśiva or the formless; Rahu — Durga; Ketu — Ganesha; Saturn or Venus in a malefic sign — dark practices, which are not automatically bad if benefics aspect. When the native worships another deity, read the trines to the Navāṁśa Lagna and the 5th house of the Rāśi chart; the Karakāṁśa deity is the shortest path, not the only one. Sutra 1.2.82 reads the same scheme from the 6th from Amatyakaraka for the Palana Devata, the deity of sustenance. Sutras 1.2.83–84 count malefics in trines to Karakāṁśa — one for mantra, two for mantra and its usage, more for yantra and tantra — turned to black magic by malefic aspect and to good use by benefic aspect. The class also matches deities outside the list to planets: Ayyappa as Sun, Mercury and Mars; Guru Nanak as Jupiter.

Grahas as Consciousness (Why Not Outer Planets), TP Chart Dasha Boundary Rule & Sun in Hasta Worship

The questions from the second half of the class. Why Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are not used: by gravitation alone Uranus has 1/50–1/100 of Saturn's effect and Pluto 1/1,000–1/10,000, but gravitation is not the point. Graha means that which grasps: a consciousness that catches hold of yours at the level of the kāraṇa śarīra. Rāhu and Ketu have no mass at all and still act. The ṛṣis chose to stop at Saturn; those who assign exaltations and results to Pluto are creating, not discovering. Tithi Praveśa daśā at the year boundary: a TP chart is void the day the next Tithi Praveśa arrives, so a daśā that straddles the date is read from the old chart up to that day and from the new chart after it. Sun in Hasta, about 13 days from ten days after the Virgo ingress, is the best time of the year to worship Sūrya, above all with the Sūrya Upaniṣad. The class ends with a navāṁśa rectification on the Leo/Virgo lagna border that PVNR abandons because the second relationship does not fit ("something is fishy"), and a note on his fixed-plane ayanāṁśa experiment.

Marana Karaka from Multiple References, Pilgrimage Indicators in D20, Kula Devata & Marriage Muhurta

Four questions from the class. Marana Karaka Sthana is seen from anything taken as a reference — the lagna, a house, a karaka, the planet's own sign — in the rasi and in the divisional charts; denying it from the lagna of a varga is questionable, and a parivartana between two planets in MKS removes the effect when it is triggered. Pilgrimage is read from the 9th and 10th houses of Rasi, Navamsa and Vimsamsa, with Sun and Jupiter as karakas of dharma and Rahu and Ketu when the journey is into a foreign culture. The family deity is the 2nd house of the Vimsamsa (house, lord or A2); the Rasi only fine-tunes. For a marriage Muhurta the standalone Muhurta chart comes first; Chandrabala, Tarabala, a Hora lord who is not the 6th or 8th lord of either person, and a lagna without a very low Ashtakavarga score are secondary — avoid the terrible, do not chase the best. Daily Homam Practice — Bhutagni Concept, Small Fire Bond & Pronunciation vs Bhava in Mantra

Bhutagni is the fire of the sukshma sharira that digests what comes in subtly, as jatharagni digests food. In Kali Yuga it is weak in most people, so mantras are said but not digested. A homam done daily purifies and strengthens it, and every other sadhana then gives its result 10, 100 or 1000 times faster. The fire can be as small as a big deepam; what counts is the bond that slowly forms between the external fire and the bhutagni. Homam supplements japa and does not replace it: a token number of ahutis of your own mantra is enough, and the dasamsa formula (10 malas of japa, 1 mala in the fire) is for specific aims. On pronunciation: sound and the image in the mind must be synchronized, and people with poor pronunciation but shraddha and the right image still get results. The class then announces BPHS Chapter 91, the shanti for birth during an eclipse.

Upanayana Muhurtha — Key Rules for Mantra Initiation & Date Selection for a Student's Son (Aug 26, 2007)

A muhūrta for a boy’s upanayana is worked out step by step in class. Jupiter comes first: he must not be retrograde, and his transit should link with the natal Mantrapada (A5) or its lord — here Jupiter in Scorpio passes over the natal Sun, lord of A5 in Leo. The Sun comes next, because Savitri Gayatri is his highest form: Cancer, the 12th from the natal Moon, is rejected and the search moves to Leo. August 26, 2007 is chosen — Sunday, Śukla Trayodaśī, Saubhāgya yoga, Shravana (Sampat tārā) at the muhūrta, Mars hora (the natal 9th lord). Scorpio lagna puts Jupiter in lagna and the Sun in the 10th; each navamsa lagna within it is weighed and Leo wins, with Jupiter in the 4th of navamsa "driving his dharma", giving a window of 12:26–12:40 PM. The muhūrta is the moment the mantra is given, not the start of the rituals.

Upanayana Dasha Validation (Rahu-Mercury), Annual D24 of the Native + Maya Philosophy (Yoga Vasishtham)

After the muhūrta is fixed, the daśās are checked. In the natal chart the boy runs Mars daśā, Moon antardaśā, and the Moon sits in Mantrapada, in the 5th of navamsa and in own sign in D-20. In the Tithi Praveśa year the day falls in Rahu daśā, Mercury antardaśā; read in the annual D-20, Rahu stands in for Ketu, lord of A5 in the 9th, and Mercury is in the 5th from him with the bhoga in the 5th from lagna. The annual chart for 2006–07 is then read: malefics in the 3rd and 6th of the rāśi chart, and in D-24 a strong 4th and 5th but the 9th lord Sun eclipsed by the nodes in the 6th — good studies, trouble with a teacher, a likely change of school. Gemstone Accentuation Philosophy, L9 vs 9th House (Father as Person) & Badhaka Lord in 9th Rule

A gemstone accentuates whatever the planet is doing in the chart; it does not strengthen only its good side. Two Mīna lagna cases: a girl given ruby (6th lord) and diamond (3rd and 8th lord) necklaces at her engagement, which then broke; and a young man with Venus as 8th lord in the 8th whom a swāmi told to wear a diamond on the index finger, the mokṣa finger, and who became a yogi. The rule is to look at the planet’s agenda — promote it if good, otherwise pray to it — and even possessing the stone counts. The second half reads the father from D-12: the 9th house shows his role and guidance, A9 the bond the world sees, and L9 the father as a person. L9 is found by counting from the 9th lord to the 9th house and the same again from the 9th house. From L9 the class reads the bādhaka lord in the 9th ("breaks idols" — does not believe in God), Rāhu in the 3rd aspected by Mars for stubbornness, the 7th under Mars, Rāhu and Saturn for bluntness, and a yogakāraka in the 12th as advice to leave the homeland.

Bone Fracture Chart — Multi-Dasha Analysis, Rahu-Ketu in D30, D20 Deity from 5th House & L7 Spouse

A Leo-lagna native broke a bone on April 6, 2006. The Sun, lagna lord and karaka of bones, is with Ketu in Navamsa and with Rahu and Ketu in Shashthamsa and Trimshamsa, so he cannot protect. In the natal chart Dwisaptati Sama dasha (7th lord in lagna) gives Sun–Mercury, with Mercury delivering the results of Ketu, who has no dasha in that scheme; Vimshottari gives Saturn–Saturn. In the Tithi Pravesha chart of the year, Tithi Ashtottari gives the Sun's period and explains little, while Shashtihayani dasha (Sun in lagna) gives the Moon, placed in the 8th with A6 — the teacher's lesson is to try the conditional dasha when Tithi Ashtottari does not satisfy. Remedies: Mahaganapati and Mahamrityunjaya homams, and care in Sun–Rahu of 2010–11. Before the chart, two questions on another student's Vimshamsha: Saturn in the D20 lagna, and reading the deity from planets aspecting the 5th house when the 5th lord is weak. BPHS Ch.1 — Vyuha Cosmology (Vasudeva/Sankarshana/Pradyumna/Aniruddha), Paramatma in Jivas & A9 in Lagna

Parashara’s account of creation in BPHS Chapter 1. The Parama Purusha, expressed and unexpressed, is joined with three shaktis: Śrī (sattva), Bhū (rajas) and Nīla (tamas). Vasudeva arises mainly from Śrī Shakti, Sankarshana from tamas, Pradyumna from rajas and Aniruddha from sattva; each holds all three gunas with one in greater measure. From Sankarshana comes Mahān, from Pradyumna ahaṅkāra — rajas is the cause of I-ness and of every distinction — and from Aniruddha comes Brahma. Vishnu sustains with Śrī Shakti, Brahma creates with Bhū Shakti, Shiva destroys with Nīla Shakti. The Paramātmā is in all jīvas and all is within the Paramātmā; grahas and devatas carry more paramātmāṁśa, other beings more jīvāṁśa. PVNR sets the Devī Rahasyam account beside it and says not to get caught in one account. The page ends with a question on A9 in lagna: manifested fortune in a kendra, acting on the very essence of the person.

Three Devata Framework (Palana/Dharma/Ishta), Gandanta Shanti Muhurta & Father's Fortune from Baby's D12

Three deities read from the navamsha: Palana Devata from the 6th from Amatyakaraka (sustenance), Dharma Devata from the 9th from Atmakaraka, Ishta Devata from the 12th from Atmakaraka (moksha). The 5th house of D20 is only the deity one is naturally drawn to. For the newborn of this lesson the teacher chooses the Dharma Devata, because the need is for the chart's yoga to function, and arrives at Lakshmi Narasimha. He then sets out the Gandanta Shanti: Navagraha Homa with the Mrityunjaya Mantra and Ayush Sukta, on the 21st day, with the tithi, weekday, nakshatra and tara of that day checked, and how to tell the parents without frightening them. Last, the child's Dvadashamsha is read with the running dasha for the father's career, the mother's career, and which parent guides her more.

Saturn Dasha in D24 (A9+A5+A11 Confluence), Exalted vs Debilitated Planet in 3rd/6th from AL & D20 Spiritual Analysis

The Vimshottari Saturn mahādaśā of the same student is judged in D-24. From lagna Saturn is only a functional malefic giving desire; from Arudha Lagna he is a malefic in the 3rd with A9, A5 and A11, which makes it the best daśā for education. Saturn–Sun antardaśā: the bhoga falls in the 11th of D-24, so studies are safe, but in the rāśi chart Sun is 9th lord in maraṇa kāraka sthāna with the 6th lord and the bādhakeśa, and in D-12 he is 8th lord, so the year is risky for the father and for health and a homa is advised. The rule for the 3rd and 6th from Arudha Lagna: a debilitated planet reverses (benefic acts as malefic, malefic as benefic), an exalted planet does not; exaltation accentuates his nature. The class ends with D-20 and its Narayana daśā, the Iṣṭa and Dharma devatā from the navāṁśa, and a first reading of D-10.

BPHS Ch.13 Verses 6–11 — Financial Difficulties, Government Loss, Dharmic Wealth (Verse 9) & Vaiseshika Amsa

BPHS Ch.13 verses 6–11. Verse 6: 2nd and 11th lords each in an inimical sign (the teacher argues “ripu bhava” here is not the 6th house) with malefics in or aspecting the 2nd and 11th — no money; he softens it to finances that are not smooth. Verse 7: both lords combust and with malefics — poverty from birth. Verse 8: both lords in the 6th, 8th or 12th, Mars in the 11th and Rahu in the 2nd, all together — wealth lost by the king’s punishment. Verse 9: Jupiter in the 11th, Venus in the 2nd, the 2nd lord with a benefic and benefics in the 12th — money spent on dharmakarya; the teacher explains it through the guṇas (2nd house sattvic, 11th rajasic) and shows how Saturn or Rahu with the 2nd lord colours the attitude to wealth. Verse 10: 2nd lord in own sign or exaltation feeds and helps people; a debilitated 2nd lord shows an unhappy, practical attitude, not selfishness by itself. Verse 11: 2nd lord in Paravatamsa or better (own, exalted or moolatrikona sign in 6 or more of the 10 vargas) with benefics — resources come without effort.

Kali Sadhaka Chart (1973) — Pravrajya Yoga, Ketu in Lagna, 6 Planets in Moksha Houses & Saturn in the D20 12th House

The chart of a married man who is a Kali upasaka with occult experiences. Rasi: Gemini lagna, Amavasya birth, Ketu in lagna, five planets in the 8th and Saturn in the 12th — six planets in the moksha trikonas, and Pravrajya yoga. Such an 8th house can make a mystic or a wretched man, so the Navamsa and Vimsamsa decide. PVNR weighs Capricorn against Aquarius as Vimsamsa lagna and moves the time by a minute to Aquarius: Saturn in the 12th, yogakaraka Venus in the 5th, Moon in the 8th in exchange with Mercury. The Tithi Pravesha chart of the running year settles it — A4 in the 8th and A8 in the 4th of its D4, with Venus, lord of the 4th and of A11, in the 6th with the 8th lord: sell in Venus dasha, July to early August. Next year’s chart has Gajakesari yoga and A9 in the D4 lagna: buy then. The second half of the page reads the same chart’s Vimshamsa for her sadhana: Atmakaraka Moon in the 8th, Mars dasha to come, the Narayana dasha of D20, the upapada from Moon, and Venus as Ishtadevata.

Spirituality vs Religion — House Significations (9H=Dharma, 8H=Sadhana, 12H=Moksha), Four Yoga Paths & Tapasya Yoga (Saturn+Venus+Ketu)

Saturn, Venus and Ketu together make Tapasya yoga only in lagna, a trine, the 8th or the 12th, and even then it shows a disciplined pursuit that may or may not be spiritual; D-20 and the other vargas decide. On 13 October 2007 the three planets stood within a third of a degree in Leo, during Navratra: poor for the world, a potent day for sadhana. A student then asks how religion differs from spirituality. Religion is a set of rules and belongs to the 9th house; sadhana is the 8th; moksha is the 12th, and a strong 9th alone gives no liberation. Being religious is neither necessary nor sufficient for realisation. The four paths follow the tattvas: Jnana yoga is fire, Karma yoga earth (Mercury), Bhakti yoga water (Moon, Venus), Raja yoga air (Saturn, Rahu), with homam recommended for Kali yuga because fire cannot be corrupted.

Druk Dasha Methodology — 9th-House Based, Progressed Lagna, Dasha Pravesh Chakra & Swami Sivananda: Pravrajya Yoga + Nirvikalpa Indicator

Druk Dasha is the progression of the 9th house, the storehouse of God’s light; Jaimini’s sutra starts it from the 9th in groups of three. It shows religious activity and the spiritual progress that results. Method: read the natal influences on the dasha sign, then take the 5th from the dasha sign as the dasha lagna, then read the Dasha Pravesha Chakra (the Tajika chart of the year the dasha begins) from that same lagna; trust what both charts show. Swami Sivananda’s Aries dasha (1923–1930) is worked through: Bhratrikaraka Mercury aspects Aries, so a guru comes; from the dasha lagna Leo, Mars, Saturn and Rahu fill the 12th, and Saturn and Rahu are 7th lords there. The 1923 pravesha chart has five planets in Leo with the 10th lord among them, which is Pravrajya yoga. The teacher adds an observation from three charts, not to be used for prediction: Sun and Moon with the nodes on the lagna axis of the pravesha chart in the dasha of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.

Student Chart: Druk Dasha Sagittarius (2003–2012) — Mars+Venus Raj Yoga in 9H, Mercury+Ketu in 8H (Karma+Jnana), Rahu with Moon (Confusion then Expansion)

A student’s chart (Gemini lagna, Jupiter in lagna, Moon exalted with Rahu) is read for her Sagittarius Druk Dasha, November 2003 to November 2012. Natally Sagittarius holds Venus and Mars, a Dhimanta yoga. The dasha lagna is Aries, the 5th from Sagittarius: Mercury and 8th lord Ketu in the 8th raise sadhana, chiefly Karma yoga; lagna lord Mars and 7th lord Venus form a Raja yoga in the 9th, so she works with others in dharmic activity; 5th lord Sun debilitated in the 7th gives humility in devotion; 4th lord Moon with the badhaka lord Rahu gives confusion of direction first and expansion later. The Dasha Pravesha Chakra of 2003 repeats the 8th-house theme. The next dasha, Virgo (2012–2021), strengthens the 12th from its lagna Capricorn in both charts, so inner detachment and progress come then. Two antardashas show how a factor seen in only one chart is not predicted.

Druk Dasha — When to Expect a Guru (Bhratrikaraka/9th Lord in Dasha Sign), Antardasha Method (7th Sign → 11th from AD Sign)

When does a Druk Dasha bring a guru? Take three planets from the natal chart: the 9th lord from lagna, the 9th lord from Jupiter and the Bhratrikaraka. When one of them sits in the dasha sign or aspects it, that dasha can bring a guru or his guidance; Jupiter in the dasha sign counts too. The page works the rule on two charts, one where the Bhratrikaraka Sun is in the dasha sign and one where Mercury aspects four dashas in a row (1990–2026). It then gives the antardasha method: antardashas start from the 7th from the dasha sign, the lagna is the 11th from the antardasha sign, and each is read in its own pravesha chart. Eight antardashas of a Scorpio dasha are read this way, with the caution that an antardasha is named only when it repeats what the dasha already shows. Example Chart (1953) — Scorpio Dasha (Karma Yoga via 6H), Leo Dasha (2012–2020, Strongest Guru Period), Tapasya Yoga & Aries Formative Dasha

A student's chart (1953, Cancer lagna) read dasha by dasha, each one from the 5th sign from the dasha sign, in the natal chart and in the Dasha Pravesha Chakra. Scorpio dasha, read from Pisces: the 5th and 6th are strong in the natal chart, the 6th holds its own lord in both charts, and the 6th wins, so this is a period of karma yoga. Its pravesha chart also has the tapasya yoga: Ketu in the 8th with Saturn and Venus in trines from him. Leo dasha (2012–2020), read from Sagittarius: the 9th holds Sun and Mercury in both charts, the Bhratrikaraka Sun is in the dasha sign and the 9th lord from Jupiter aspects it, so a guru gives him a push. Aries dasha (1989–96), read from Leo: the lagna dominates in both charts, the formative period. The native confirms he met his yoga teacher in 1987, in Gemini dasha, and began teaching about 1989.

Example Chart (1988) — Druk Dasha Cancer (Exalted Mars in 3H from Dasha Lagna), Writing as Spiritual Mission & Druk Dasha's Proper Role

A father asks whether his son (born 1988) will write a book on spiritual matters. Cancer dasha is read from Scorpio: in the Dasha Pravesha Chakra the lagna lord Mars is exalted in the 3rd, which allows writing. But Druk Dasha is a supplement; whether a book gets written is seen from the rasi chart, the dasamsa and the regular dashas, and Druk Dasha only shows whether the writing belongs to the spiritual journey, as it did for Aurobindo. The teacher prefers Libra dasha (2010–2017), where Mercury is in the 3rd and Jupiter in the 2nd of the pravesha chart. The father's own chart (1961) follows: Gemini dasha with the 10th and 12th strong (recognition and detachment), Pisces dasha with the 3rd dominant (he may write more than his son) and a maraka combination that gives mystical experiences, Sagittarius dasha with a raja yoga in the 5th (fame). Recap of Druk Dasha: it is the progression of the 9th house, so the 5th from the dasha sign is the progressed lagna; read the natal chart and the Dasha Pravesha Chakra from it and trust the themes common to both. The 5th shows bhakti, the 6th service, the 8th sadhana and mystical experiences, the 10th spiritual activity, and a dominant 12th gives sanyasa to one who is meant for it; whom and how to pray is not seen here but from the natal chart. A student's question brings the teaching that no path is ahead of another and progress is a matter of inner attitude. Then two principles: a retrograde planet carries a strong unfinished desire from the past life, with urgency, agitation and Cheshta bala; and combustion is independent of retrogression, depending only on the distance from the Sun (about 7–8 degrees, differing by planet). A student's case of the Sun with exalted Venus shows that which of the two dominates has to be judged from Navamsa and Trimsamsa, not from rasi alone.

Example Chart (1926) — Leo Dasha (Mystical Experiences, Guru Blessings), Taurus Dasha (Big Spiritual Events) & AK-BK Mutual Kendra in Navamsa (Gajakesari Yoga)

A learned spiritual teacher and homeopath, Capricorn lagna with debilitated but retrograde Jupiter in lagna. The guru at the soul level is the Bhratrukaraka: AK Jupiter (Virgo) and BK Moon (Sagittarius) are in mutual kendra in Navamsa, with a Mercury–Jupiter parivartana and Putrakaraka Mercury joining them — the guru's blessings, Gajakesari fame and faithful followers. The guru's blessings come in the dasha whose sign is linked to the BK, the 9th lord or Jupiter: Leo holds BK Moon. In Leo dasha the progressed lagna is Sagittarius, with exalted Ketu in lagna, Jupiter in the 2nd, and the 9th and 10th lords Sun and Mercury in the 8th — dharmic work and, with the 7th lord in the 8th, mystical experiences. In Taurus dasha the progressed lagna is Virgo: the lagna lord is tied to the 12th but the 10th is very strong in both the natal and dasha-start charts, so a man who wants moksha still does big things. Death is not seen from Druk Dasha.

Narayana Dasha 4-Part Subdivision (Benefic: Occupancy→Yogas→Ownership→Avastha; Malefic: Reversed), Tithi Nityas (15 Forms) & DST in Muhurta

Three short topics from the end of the class. A planet's portion of a Nārāyaṇa daśā divides in four: a natural benefic gives occupancy first, then yogas, ownership and his own state, and a natural malefic gives them in reverse; whether Sun counts as a benefic when the Navāṁśa is read for marriage PVNR answers only as an intuition. The Tithi Nityās are forms of the Divine Mother for well-being and peace of mind, against the Mahāvidyās for spiritual understanding; a Nityā can be chosen from the special tithis (karma, putra, dhana and so on), though readings from those tithis alone are not reliable. Muhūrta and Tithi Praveśa times must be worked in the time zone the person's clock actually shows, with a fortnightly chart as the worked example — which also shows Trilochana yoga, Sun, Moon and Mars in mutual trines.

Child's Chart (2004) — Hyperactivity/Shivering, D30 Root Cause, Dhatu Karakas & Mars (Nerve Tissue) vs Mercury (Nerve Communication)

A three-year-old boy is hyperactive and at times suddenly shivers and shouts; his father asks whether it is a health problem or Kundalini. Sun is in lagna, so Shashtihayani daśā is used, and because the trouble runs through two daśās it is read as lifelong. Rasi: lagna lord Mars in the 12th with Ketu and the 12th lord, 8th lord Mercury in lagna — weak for health, strong for detachment; Moon as 9th lord in the 5th aspected by Jupiter and Saturn in the 9th add orthodox dharma. Trimshamsa is the root of every problem: Mercury, 8th lord in both charts, sits in the D30 lagna in a sign of Mars (fire), and the exalted bādhaka lord Moon with Saturn warns of bouts of depression. The class revises the dhatu karakas and separates Mars, the nerve tissue, from Mercury, the communication in the nerves. The dog attack of June 2007 is read from the D30 and D6 of the previous year’s Tithi Praveśa chart, and the round-figure birth time keeps Vimshamsa in reserve.

Propitiation vs Gemstone Safety Rules, Ishta Devata (12th from AK in Navamsa) & Druk Dasha Spiritual Timeline for the Child (2027–2035 Peak Sadhana)

The remedy for the child is Narasimha: Mercury, the afflicting 8th lord and also the Atmakaraka, shows Vishnu, and an ugra avatar that corresponds to Mars covers the lagna lord in the 12th as well. A gem increases a planet’s good where it is good and its bad where it is bad; propitiation, sattvic or rajasic, is always safe, and only a tamasic remedy can turn on the doer. Ishta Devata is the 12th from the AK in Navamsa: here it is empty Aquarius holding the Navamsa lagna, so he is inherently spiritual; start with Saturn, who aspects the sign (Vishnu), while the stronger lord Rahu in a Venusian sign (Durga) gives moksha in the end. Dṛg daśā times the spiritual life: a guru in Taurus or Aquarius daśā (2011–2027, most likely 2019–2027), and the maximum sadhana, with mystical experiences and some fame, in Scorpio daśā, November 2027 to November 2035.

Jupiter Transit Murti, Transit from Arudha Lagna vs Moon, & Kundalini Philosophy — Shivering is NOT Kundalini (It's Prana Vayus Cleaning Nadis)

A quick reading of a transit takes four things: the house from Moon, the tara from Moon’s nakshatra, the house from lagna if the chart is accurate, and the murti. Murti shows how easy the planet is to propitiate: Swarna murti withdraws its bad results readily, Loha murti is hell-bent. Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu must be read together. Transit from Arudha Lagna shows how the world sees your material status, transit from Moon how you feel about it; Jupiter in the 9th from AL is a reality check on materialism and Saturn in the 8th from AL a big setback. Kundalini is self-awareness, the Shakti of the Ishta Devata who bound the infinite into a body; its rise is bliss, not shivering, and any path can awaken it. Shivering is at most the vayus cleaning the nadis before an awakening — a possibility for the child, not a conclusion.

Mental Health Case (1982, Pisces Lagna) — D30 Mercury Bhadaka in Lagna, Sri Rama Remedy (Sun+Mercury Combined) & Why Mahavidyas Are Not for Material Well-Being

A student's chart: a Pisces-lagna man, hospitalised for mental instability, who left finance to study medicine. The rule taught: for mental instability either Moon (manah karaka) or Mercury (nervous system, balance) must be afflicted. Here Sun (6th lord) and Mercury (badhaka lord) sit on Arudha Lagna in Rasi and in lagna itself in Trimsamsa; in D6 Mercury is badhaka lord again. Career is read from D10: Jupiter as lagna and 10th lord in the 10th gives Hamsa yoga and points to teaching, while Sun, the 6th lord with Venus in an inimical sign, gives a medical career that does not last; A8 in the 10th with Jupiter means sudden good breaks. Remedies: yellow sapphire for the lagna lord but never ruby, emerald or diamond; the Surya ashtakshari "Om Ghrinih Surya Adityah"; and "Sri Rama Rama Rama" for an hour a day, which answers Sun and Mercury together. The palana devata, from the 6th from Amatyakaraka in Navamsa, is Hanuman — and the class hears why a Mahavidya should not be given for material well-being.

Example Chart (1960) — Shoola Dasha Longevity (Aquarius Dasha Critical), D20 Saturn Dasha Spiritual Life & 3rd from AL = Circumstances of Death

A Virgo-lagna chart (born 1960) is read for longevity and then for spiritual life. A maraka period is confirmed in two Vimshottari systems and in the Rudramsa (D-11) before the Shoola Dasha is opened: the danger signs are the Arudha Lagna, its trines and the 3rd from it, and the running Aquarius dasha (till 2014) is a trine from AL, holds Ketu and is aspected by Sun and Rahu from Leo. The 3rd from AL shows the circumstances of death; Rahu there means sudden and unnatural. The three-parts rule gives two short and one middle, lifted to lower-middle life by the exalted lagna lord. In the Vimshamsa (Leo lagna) Saturn, Jupiter and Mars are in lagna, so Saturn dasha gives the results of Jupiter, the 5th and 8th lord, with the 8th house in Pisces: temple-going turns into a search for Brahman. The Narayana Dasha of D-20 is read in thirds and Drig Dasha shows the Guru arriving. The page ends with his wife read from L7 in the Navamsa and the teacher on preparing for death.

Mantra Philosophy: Kabir's Story (Intensity > Source), Hanuman Chiranjivi (Physical Body Still Exists), One Mantra Deeply vs 100 Casually

Two asides from a chart reading. Kabir went to a saint for a mantra; the saint, disturbed while lying down, only muttered "Ram, Ram", and Kabir took that as his mantra and reached darshan of Hanuman and Rama and the experience of Brahman. How a mantra reaches you is decided by nature; what you do with it is yours. Formal upadesha is overrated in Kali Yuga: the Rishis put the knowledge in the open and Vyasa arranged it for this age, so a mantra from a book will do. Take one mantra and do it for hours a day, not minutes, and do not scatter effort over a hundred mantras. Then why Hanuman sadhana is special: other deities appear only through fire, air or ether, to subtle perception, but Hanuman is a Chiranjivi whose physical body still exists and can be seen with the eyes.

Example Chart (1983, Sagittarius Lagna) — Graha Malika Yoga (Spiritual Chain), Parivraj Yoga, Saturn Exalted in A9 for Career & L7 as Wife's Lagna

A Sagittarius-lagna chart (born 1983; the Vimshamsa lagna is Cancer) read across many vargas. Moon, the 8th lord, is in gandanta, so Moon dasha (2015–25) needs a remedy. All seven planets lie from the 9th to the 12th: a Graha Malika, a chain of giving from Jupiter and Ketu in the 12th through exalted Saturn and the Sun to four planets in the 9th, which is why planets 2nd and 12th from each other are not always bad. In the Navamsa three chara karakas are in marana karaka sthana from the Atmakaraka. Drig Dasha times the spiritual turn; the Vimshamsa gives Kula and Grama Devata from the 2nd and 4th. For money the Dasamsa says work first and business later, and the Hora says leave the stock market (Mercury is a killer) for Saturn’s fields: oil, steel, commodities. The 10th lord with three planets, not four, is an interest in renunciation, not sannyasa. Marriage is timed with Vimshottari, Narayana Dasha and two Tithi Pravesha charts; wife, children and parents are read from L7, D-7 and D-12.

BPHS Ch.23 — 12th House (Vyaya Bhava): Moon as 12L (Luxuries), Good/Bad Gati (Naraka vs Moksha), Wandering vs Stable Foreign Settlement & Sinful Earnings

BPHS Chapter 23, verse by verse. Vyaya is expenditure, not necessarily loss: the 12th lord and planets in the 12th show the kind and size of expenses, and a well-supported 12th gives auspicious spending. Moon as 12th lord (Leo lagna) well placed gives fine houses and perfumes; the 12th lord in a kendra or koṇa gives happiness from the spouse, in the 6th or 8th none. Further verses give naraka (Rāhu with malefics in the 12th), moksha (to be applied to the navāṁśa from the Ātmakāraka), wandering versus settling abroad, and sinful earnings — the 12th is the 11th from the 2nd and the 2nd from the 11th, with argalā on both. Each verse is tried on a student’s Sagittarius-lagna chart, and the lagna–12th parivartana verse is then seen at work in a muhūrta for starting a Narasimha mantra.

Punya Chakra (Death Chart) Preview: 12th = Final Gati, 7th = Last Desire (Seed of Next Life) & Visible vs Invisible Half of Zodiac for Obvious vs Subtle Results

The Puṇya Chakra is the chart cast for the moment a person leaves the body. Its 12th house shows one thing only, the final gati; its 7th shows the last desire, which Krishna says decides the next gati and which becomes the seed of the next life. In the birth chart the 12th from lagna shows gati among many other things, and for moksha the navāṁśa from the Ātmakāraka counts for more. The page also gives the two BPHS verses on naraka and moksha, the question of bad karma with a good gati (Arjuna, Rāvaṇa), and the rule of the visible half of the zodiac: planets from the 7th cusp round to the lagna degree give obvious results, the rest subtle ones.

Shadripu Mapped to D30 (Trimshamsha) Houses 7–12 — PVNR's Original Framework: Kama/Krodha/Lobha/Moha/Madha/Matsarya & Papapurusha in Subtle Body

The teacher’s own idea, which he says is not from any classic: the six inner enemies are read from houses 7 to 12 of the Triṁśāṁśa (D-30), the chart of weaknesses — not the Viṁśāṁśa. The Pāpapuruṣa sits in the stomach of the subtle body, is seen only in yogic vision, and creates the six. The 6th house is the seed; the six houses after it, the visible half of the chart, carry them one by one: 7th kāma, 8th krodha, 9th lobha (being unable to do dharma and charity, wanting everything for oneself), 10th moha (the false pride of accomplishment), 11th mada (wantonness — kāma carried to its end, not alcoholism), 12th mātsarya (not accepting a deprivation and resenting the one who has the thing). The order in which the classics name the six is the order of the houses.

Example Chart (1969, Leo Lagna) — 8th+12th for Mystical Experience vs Just Sadhana, Cancer Drig Dasha Guru Arrival (from 2008) & Libra Dasha Deep Realizations (2015-22)

A woman’s chart (1969, Leo lagna) brought by a student: she is drawn to religion and philosophy and wants a guru. The lagna lord Sun is in the 8th with Rahu, aspected by the 8th lord Jupiter and Ketu from the 2nd — a fortified 2nd–8th axis and an interest in mysticism. The lagna degree sits on a Daśāṁśa and Viṁśāṁśa border, and the native's own 2-second rectification (D-10 lagna Scorpio instead of Sagittarius) is tested against her work as a manager. Dṛg daśā is then read with the progressed lagna in the 5th from the daśā sign: Cancer daśā from March 2008 is the daśā of the guru’s arrival (bhrātṛ-kāraka Mars in the progressed lagna Scorpio, 9th lord Moon exalted and aspecting it); Libra daśā, 2015–2022, loads the 2nd–8th axis and promises mystical experience. The rule: experience needs very strong 8th and 12th houses, otherwise there is only sādhana. The class ends with the deity (Śiva as guru, from Sun and Rahu in the 8th under Jupiter’s aspect), the mantra, and the annual chart that times passing it on. Before the chart, the teacher’s rule for choosing a daśā: test it on past events.

Example Chart (1992, Aquarius Lagna) — Pilot vs FBI Analysis (Amsa-Based), Ketu the 6th Lord in Yama Amsa = Intelligence Work, D24 Humanities/Law & Sadhaka Phase 2015-23

A teenager choosing between pilot and FBI agent. In the D-10 (Gemini lagna) the 10th lord Jupiter is debilitated in the 8th while Mars sits in his own sign in the 6th with A10, so the 6th house and Mars give the career. The teacher questions the traditional Sun-for-pilots rule and reads the job by function (Mars, with Mercury), then lets the dikpāla amśas decide: Mars is in Īśāna amśa, while the 6th co-lord Ketu is in Yama amśa and the exalted lagna lord Mercury, aspecting the 10th, is in Nirṛti amśa — FBI is the better choice. Saturn daśā makes him a ground-level operative; Mercury daśā, from about age 45, an analyst in a central office. A bad Jupiter–Mercury antardaśā for studies is used to move the D-24 lagna from Gemini to Cancer; the rectified D-24 and its Narayana daśā show a bachelor’s degree in humanities or law and a doubtful master’s. The class ends with a Viṣṇu remedy and a predicted sādhaka period in 2015–2023.

BPHS Ch.24 — 5th Lord in Houses 10–12: Rajayoga + Accumulated Fame (5L in 10H), Whatever He Touches = Gold (5L in 11H) & Occult Scholarship (5L in 12H)

The last three placements of the 5th lord. In the 10th: "not really a classical Raj Yoga" but like one, a trine lord in a quadrant; he enjoys his comforts because the planet aspects the 4th (Parāśara says bhogī, one who enjoys, not merely one who has); and fame accumulates because from the 5th its lagna lord is in the 6th, an upachaya. A student with Mars as 5th lord in the 10th enjoys the work, not the comforts: Moon and Venus are the kārakas of enjoyment, Mars turns water into steam. In the 11th: scholar, liked by people (7th lord in lagna from the 11th), writer, very capable, many children. The wealth comes from the 11th and not the 2nd: the planet has no argala on the 2nd, only a 3/4 aspect, but A5 falls in the 2nd, so he is known as wealthy and resourceful. In the 12th: no happiness from children, or an adopted child, since from the 5th its lord is in the 8th. The same placement puts the lord of devotion in the house of surrender and gives scholarship in the occult; PVNR’s example is a Pisces-lagna man with Moon in Aquarius, troubled over children and a famous astrologer.

Digbala as recalled in class: Mercury and Jupiter in lagna, Moon and Venus in the 4th, Saturn in the 7th, Sun and Mars in the 10th, where the fiery planets of action serve karma. The 5th house as mantra, bhakti, scholarship and fame, and how it reads with the 8th (sādhana, hard work) and the 12th (surrender, the occult), with the A5 positions worked out in the lesson. The rest of the page is the class’s worked example: an Upanayana muhūrta for a Maghā native. PVNR rejects the first choice (Aries lagna, 22 March 2009) because the 5th lord Sun is in the 12th, the bādhaka lord Saturn sits in the 5th and Moon is in mṛtyu bhāga, then walks through tithi and tārā bala day by day to 4 April 2009, 10:10 AM: Taurus lagna, Moon in Āśleṣā, Jupiter’s debility cancelled, a rāja yoga of the lagna, 4th and 5th lords in the 11th, and Ātmakāraka Jupiter in the Leo Navāṁśa lagna. Example Chart — Divorce Litigation (1971): Venus Karaka-Lagna for Marriage, 9th from UL Protects Marriage & Upanayana Guru Chandal Yoga Warning (Jupiter + Rahu in Debility)

A 1971 chart (Taurus lagna, Leo Navāṁśa): about five years of divorce litigation, and the wife now wants to return. In rāśi the 7th and 8th lords exchange houses. Venus daśā gave the marriage, which fits the Navāṁśa: Venus is in the 7th there and owns the Navāṁśa Upapada. Moon daśā brought the litigation: in Navāṁśa Moon is the 12th lord in the bādhaka sthāna, and from Venus taken as kāraka-lagna he is the 6th lord. PVNR justifies the Venus lagna from Parāśara and from Venus being stronger than the Navāṁśa lagna. The running Saturn antardaśā (lagna lord in the 11th from Venus) and the coming Mercury antardaśā do not break the marriage: Mercury is the 2nd lord from the rāśi UL and sits in the 9th from UL in both rāśi and Navāṁśa. Verdict: the divorce is unlikely and they should get back together; only Sun antardaśā needs care. Remedy: Viṣṇu Sahasranāma with the Devī verse Sarva-maṅgala-māṅgalye between its verses, and a fast on Sundays because UL is in Leo. The class also covers Jupiter crossing the Capricorn–Aquarius border and back, and an Upanayana muhūrta spoiled by debilitated Jupiter within a degree of Rāhu.

Example Chart (1985): D24/D4 Border Rectification, 5th House = Poorvapunya for First Job, June-July 2009 Job Window & D20 Aquarius Lagna, Leo Drig Dasha 2036-44 = Peak Sadhana, Ashtakshari Mantra for 8th House Charts

A 1985 chart read in June 2009 for a student finishing a master’s in electronics and computer science and looking for a first job in a recession. The lagna is at 15° Aries, on a hora border, where the lagna of every even varga changes at once; the teacher settles it with D24 (Leo lagna puts Mercury and Mars in the 9th — computers and electronics) and D4 (Libra lagna explains going abroad in Jupiter–Saturn), which fixes the Daśāṁśa lagna as Virgo. In Daśāṁśa the antardaśā lord Saturn is 5th lord in lagna — pūrva-puṇya, the key to a first job — and the Tithi Praveśa narrows it to June 23 – August 1, 2009. The strong 3rd, 7th and 11th houses of the Daśāṁśa point to consulting or business later in Jupiter daśā. The four planets in the 8th house are then tested through D9, D10, D6, D30 and D20: not ill health but hard work and sādhanā, with Leo Dṛg daśā (2036–44) as the period of experience and Veṅkaṭeśvara as the deity.

BPHS Ch.24 — 11th Lord in Houses 10–12: Honored + Religious Activist + Jitendriya/Sense Mastery (10H), Gainful in All + Happiness Increases Daily (11H), Dharmic Spending + Kamuka + Gains from Foreign (12H) & 10th House = Indrasthana (Sense Mastery, NOT Sense Organs)

BPHS chapter 24 (Santhanam's edition), verses 130–132: the 11th lord in the 10th, 11th and 12th houses, each result derived from the house it belongs to. In the 10th: honoured, an activist for his religion (argalā on the 9th, lordship 3rd from the 9th), intelligent in argument (7th lord in the 6th from the 5th), truthful, and jitendriya. In the 11th: gains in everything, scholarship, and happiness that grows daily (8th lord in the 8th from the 4th). In the 12th: spending on dharma or as smart investment, kāmuka, many wives, gains with a foreign element — and the student's question whether a man who pursues many women can still be called dharmic. The page then explains why the 10th house is Indrasthana: it shows the overall relationship with the senses, mastery or succumbing, not the physical sense organs; the 6th, the 9th from the 10th, holds the ariṣaḍvargas.

Solar Eclipse July 22 2009 (India): Sun at Mrityubhaga + Both 8th Lords in Maraka Sthanas = Political Upheaval; Rahu-Ketu on Sun-Moon = Bad for Dharma, 1000× for Meditation; 3-Eclipse Sequence (Mahabharata/Dwarka) & Kali Yuga: No Apocalypse

The chart for the start of the July 22, 2009 solar eclipse at New Delhi, cast in class before the event. Cancer rises with Sun, Moon and Ketu within 2° of each other and of the lagna degree. The Sun is 2nd lord in lagna in his mṛtyubhāga, Saturn (7th and 8th lord) is in the 2nd and Rahu (the other 8th lord) in the 7th, so both 8th lords are in māraka sthānas; 9th lord Jupiter in the 8th is the one blessing. The teacher reads loss of life and a bad political event for India, rejects the doomsday talk, and puts the lunar–solar–lunar sequence in proportion against the Mahabharata war and the sinking of Dwarka. He then gives the two readings of Rahu–Ketu on Sun–Moon: obstruction for dharma in duality, the solution for non-duality. Rituals done as dharma stop at eclipse time; meditation done for mokṣa is said to be 1000 times more powerful.

PVNR's Pratyangira Warning: Weapon-Personified NOT Mother Deity — Use Chandi/Chamunda Instead; Prasna 3-Chart Method (D1=Present, D9=Past, D3=Future) & 5-Minute Sign Technique: Jupiter in Kendra from the 5-Minute Sign = the Teacher's Own Test That the Problem Is Solvable

Three things from the end of the class. First, the remedies given for the example chart, where a maraka Mars has defeated the lagna lord: Angaraka Kavacham, Angaraka Homam done to a time limit and not a count, the kavacham chanted after the pūrṇāhuti and never offered into the fire, a Tuesday fast, the Hanuman Chalisa in long sittings, and the teacher's point that an intense combination needs intense sādhana, not fifteen minutes a day. Second, his warning against Pratyangira homam: Pratyangira is a weapon personified, born to cool Narasimha, not a mother deity like Chandi; a homam done for a result is firing a gun almost nobody knows how to fire, so take the problem to Chandi, Narasimha or Chamunda instead. Third, prasna: D-1 for the present, D-9 for the past, D-3 for the future; the answer holds only if Jupiter influences lagna or lagna lord in the Rasi and the Navamsa lagna links to the person's chart; and the 5-minute sign within a hora, which the teacher used for a test of his own — Jupiter in a kendra from it.

Three shorter matters from the class. Arudhas: they can be found by counting signs, as now, or by reflecting the exact distance in longitude from the house to its lord; in the worked example (lagna 8°47' Aquarius, Saturn 29°03' Leo) the Arudha Lagna lands at about 19° Pisces, in the 2nd house, so the Arudha is no longer confined to certain houses and AL–A7 in 6/8 stops being rare. The teacher has tested both and holds back his verdict. Gayatri: the claim that an identical rasi and bhava chart shows her blessing has no basis; look for Jupiter and Ketu and for Sun on lagna, lagna lord or the 5th, and for Hasta holding lagna or Moon, as in the teacher's own chart and Vivekananda's. Remedies for a Sun in gaṇḍānta: no ruby; propitiate with Aditya Hridayam or the Sun mantra, or simply gaze at a lamp.

The remedy for this chart is to propitiate Sun, who is both the running dasha lord and the lagna lord, with Āditya Hṛdayam — for hours a day, not minutes. The teacher sets time rather than a count, explains blocking karmas (suffered, or burned through sadhana), and gives the mark of progress: the mantra arising by itself, as reflex action. A long text suits an unstable mind better than a short mantra; a paurāṇic prayer is safer than a Veda mantra said wrongly. He then goes back on his usual one-deity advice: a person seeking relief from a material problem, not realisation, may propitiate several deities — here Sun, Lakṣmī and Hanumān. Vivekananda’s weeks of distress show that even he could not fix his mind on God under such pressure, and that his way out, renunciation, is not for everyone.

Parashara reads the Ishta Devata from the 12th from Karakamsa: Sun Shiva, Moon Gauri, Jupiter Sadashiva, Mercury and Saturn Vishnu, Rahu (and Saturn in an evil sign) Durga and tamasik devatas, Ketu Ganesha, Mars Skanda. Tradition takes Karakamsa in Navamsa; PVNR takes it in Vimshamsa (D-20), because Parashara assigns upasana to D-20 and then writes only “amsa”. With Rahu as Atmakaraka the 12th is counted in reverse; in the example chart that gives Pisces in D-20, ruled by Jupiter and aspected by Sun, so Shiva, whom the native already worships. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa’s devotion to Kali is the test the Navamsa reading fails. Mahavidyas are for moksha and are not to be prescribed for jobs or court cases; PVNR’s mapping through the avataras makes Sun Tara, Moon Kali, Mars Bhairavi and Mercury Matangi. On chara karakas, Parashara’s criterion is 8 when two planets are in the same degree and 7 otherwise, and karakas do not change during life.

Parashara extends the lagna and pada yogas to Karakamsa, without saying which amsa. From there the class turns to what the karakas are. Atmakaraka is the king — the sense of “I”, ego in the Vedantic sense, not pride. Amatyakaraka is the minister — the sense of purpose, which is why it shows career. The 12th from AK shows the Ishta Devata, because the “I” has to be let go; the 6th from AmK shows the deity who removes the obstacles to one’s mission, and it is the more fundamental of the two because the king will not retire while the minister still has work. PVNR now reads the first in D20 and the second in D10, not in Navamsa. He treats D60 as a research area (the past-life rule failed on K.N. Rao’s rebirth cases; only phobias from the 3rd from AL correlated), offers a second meaning of sampad for D2 — the fall, death — and points out that Parashara gives bhagya, fortune, to D4, not D9. A wrong Ishta Devata recommendation does no harm: nobody told Ramakrishna or Vivekananda to worship Kali.

Saptamsa reading for two daughters. D-7 lagna is Cancer, an even sign, so the children are counted backwards: the first from Pisces (Jupiter alone, which points to a boy), but Mercury falls in the 1st house from Jupiter and the birth came in Jupiter–Mercury, so the neutral planet turned it to a girl (Dec 19, 2005). The second is from Capricorn: Moon and Ketu in the 1st house from its lord Saturn give a girl (Oct 1, 2008, Jupiter–Venus, Venus on the 8th cusp from Saturn). Both births are checked in the Tithi Pravesha saptamsa. A third child would come from Scorpio, across the Saturn–Ketu–Moon group with no Jupiter to protect, and with Ketu, Moon and Saturn in the 2nd from Scorpio — very little chance, and a risk of abortion. Ishta Devata is taken from the 12th from Atmakaraka in the Vimsamsa, not the navamsa: Saturn in Capricorn, closely aspected by Mars and by debilitated Venus, gives a warrior form of the Mother — Chandi, Chamundeshwari. The same Virgo-lagna chart, for the two pregnancies lost in 2007 and 2009. The teacher points to the 5th lord and Jupiter in the 12th house, and to Rahu — the 6th lord, in gaṇḍānta at the very start of Leo — afflicting Jupiter from 8 degrees away (Jupiter 8°11', Rahu 0°27'). These placements are in the rāśi chart; in the D-7 as cast Jupiter is in the 7th house. He singles out the rāśi daśā of 2018-2027, whose 5th from Virgo is Capricorn with four planets in the 8th from it. In D-20 (Libra lagna), Mercury as 9th lord in the 10th house makes the running Mercury daśā a time to follow dharma and religion, and lagna lord Venus in the 4th gives peace and direction through the religious life. He also marks out the 12th house from the Ātmakāraka Rahu, counted backwards from Rahu's longitude; the recording breaks before any conclusion.

A Leo-lagna civil engineer has left her first job and asks whether to work or study; her marriage is fixed for April. In the D-10 (Sagittarius lagna) the job came in Rahu-Rahu-Jupiter, Jupiter being lagna lord in the 6th aspecting the 10th, and went in the pratyantara of Saturn, the 3rd lord in the 3rd. Mercury, the 10th lord, can give a job next, and Rahu-Jupiter should give both the degree and the job. The D-24 favours further study under Jupiter and Mercury, but the nodes on the 10th axis of the D-10 and Rahu as 10th lord of the D-24 point to computers and electronics, not civil engineering. The Tithi Praveśa of 2009–10 shows the marriage: 7th lord Mercury, 9th lord Sun and Ketu together in the 7th house. The D-7 promises a child in Rahu daśā through the Rahu-Venus rāja yoga, the navāṁśa warns of friction in Rahu daśā, and the D-20 with Venus and Moon in the 4th under exalted Jupiter shows a clear spiritual direction.

BPHS Ch.33, verses 1-11: the results of the sign the Ātmakāraka occupies in a divisional chart (Kārakāṁśa). The teacher's main point is that an unnamed aṁśa is not navāṁśa by default; the aṁśa is deduced from the kind of result — D-10 for profession, D-4 or D-16 for animals and comfort, D-30 for disease and danger, D-20 for mokṣa. He also holds that aṁśa and aṁśaka mean the same thing, and that both K.N. Rao's and Sanjay Rath's readings of Kārakāṁśa are partial. A student asks why Parāśara gives gains and dangers from the Ātmakāraka if the AK is about mokṣa. The answer: the AK is the king of the nativity, the I-ness or ego sense, and it gives material results as much as spiritual ones; it is the one who binds and the one who liberates. Mokṣa is seen from the 12th from AK because the 12th is letting go, but that applies to someone already close to it. For everyone else the strong house from AK (10th work, 6th service, 7th dealing with people, 9th temple-building, 5th scholarship, 8th meditation) shows the present path, and the 12th-from-AK deity should not be prescribed by habit. How the remedy for the cancer case is chosen. The lagna lord Venus is an absent landlord, since his dasha is not running; the troublemaker is Mercury, the 8th lord of Trimshamsa, tightly joined by Rahu in Scorpio. Mercury is reached through Vishnu, and a Martian sign with Rahu calls for a fierce form: Ugra Narasimha, with the 32-letter Mantra-raja pada mantra offered in fire a few lakh times over eight days from Tuesday to Tuesday, or a Sudarshana homa. Gems are rejected: a purchase cannot push off a major karma, and a diamond for the lagna lord could quicken death because Venus is a maraka in Trimshamsa. The teacher then explains why most priests get no result, why the family should chant the one mantra themselves, how a fierce devata works fast with some suffering spilling on the one who does the sadhana, and why attachment to a son's life does not spoil it.

BPHS chapter 33, verses 23 to 31: what Gulika and Ketu give in the Karakāṁśa, and what the 2nd house from it shows. Gulika there with the full Moon aspecting makes a thief whose own money is stolen by thieves; with no aspect, hardship and death by poison; with Mercury aspecting, many children. Ketu there gives ear disease under a malefic, initiation under Venus, inability to beget under Mercury and Saturn, a servant maid’s son under Mercury and Venus, penance under Saturn, the mere robes of a sannyāsī under Saturn alone, and service at the king’s court under Sun and Venus. For each verse the teacher works out which divisional chart it belongs to (D-30, D-7, D-20, D-12, D-10) and why the planets give that result. The 2nd from Karakāṁśa in a sign of Venus or Mars shows interest in others’ spouses, which Ketu restrains and Jupiter does not; Rahu there loses money. Verse 23 also settles that Mandi and Gulika are one upagraha.

Parāśara’s verses on the 3rd, 4th and 5th from Karakamsa (BPHS Ch.33, v.32–38), with the teacher’s reasons for each. 3rd: a functional malefic makes the native brave, a functional benefic timid, in whichever divisional chart is being read; his own D-20 is the example. 4th, in D-4: Moon or Venus gives a palace, Saturn or Rahu an ordinary house, Mars or Ketu brick (engineered, high-tech), Jupiter wood, Sun grass, and Moon again an open place — all read as the attitude to one’s house, not the building. 5th, in D-30: the 12th from the 6th is loss of the fight, so Mars or Rahu there gives tuberculosis and other infections (certain when a weak Moon aspects), Mars boils, Ketu dysentery and water-borne disease, Rahu or Gulika black magic and poison. Mercury there gives a Paramahamsa, because Mercury is childlike, has no enemies and becomes like his company.

BPHS Ch.33 from verse 39: the 5th from Karkamsa is the skill the soul carries from Purva Punya. Sun and Mars wear sword and spear (contact warriors, decision makers), Saturn the bow (the foot soldier who executes), Rahu a metal machine (heavy technology), Ketu an hour-machine (subtle machinery), Venus makes a poet. Moon and Jupiter in Karkamsa or the 5th make a great author, Venus a little less, Mercury less again; Jupiter alone knows Veda and Vedanta and writes well but is not eloquent. The teacher explains why Parashara gives eloquence to Venus, the teacher of the demons, and not to Jupiter. The same 5th house gives the logician (Mars), the analyst (Mercury), the one dull in assembly or patient (Saturn), the musician (Sun), Sankhya, literature and song (Moon) and mathematics (the nodes). The 2nd from Karkamsa, 10th from the 5th, is the skill put to use, and Karkamsa itself is the soul's sense of identity, not what the person does.

Sarada Mata: Karkamsa 2° Sagittarius with Mercury close; Saturn is the one influence on the 5th, and her hallmark was patience; the Sun aspects the 2nd cusp 89–90%, the command and administration she put to use guiding the Math till 1920. Verses 46-52 of BPHS chapter 33, read house by house from Karakāṁśa. 6th (and 3rd): a malefic makes a hard worker, or a frustrated one if weak; a benefic makes one lazy, too soft to fight, or with no need to fight. 7th: Moon+Jupiter a beautiful or famous spouse, Venus one of many desires and talents, Mercury a versatile one, Sun a wife kept in the family circle whom the native bosses, Saturn an older, austere or sickly one, Rāhu a widow, foreigner or other match outside the tradition of that place and time. 8th: its lord or a benefic gives long life, which the teacher reads as the soul's desire to live long, probably seen in Triṁśāṁśa. 9th: a benefic gives truthfulness, devotion to guru and swadharma; a malefic gives faith in childhood that is lost with age; Saturn and Rāhu make a guru-drohī, unless they are functional benefics or the 9th lords. The word swadharma leads to the teaching that the Vedic paradigm has no universal dharma, only one's own, found by listening to conscience.

A student asks why Parāśara reads the spouse from the Ātmakāraka, which is the self. The answer: the Ātmakāraka is ahaṅkāra — not pride but the sense of "this is I" that controls buddhi, citta and manas — and the houses from Karakāṁśa are that I's notions of spouse, father and the rest: aspirations carried from past lives, which may or may not be granted. The last thought at death seeds the next life (Prithviraj Chauhan reborn as Akbar, by Vimalananda's vision). The Amātyakāraka is the minister: the sense of "this is what I need to do". Conscience is Amātyakāraka and Jupiter together, under the Ātmakāraka. When the Amātyakāraka is in a quadrant or trine from the Ātmakāraka and they are friends, king and minister are on good terms and the minister's agenda gets done. The 6th from Amātyakāraka shows the obstacles overcome to fulfil the purpose; Parāśara names it alongside the 12th from Ātmakāraka, and for some people it matters more, because until the purpose is fulfilled the I cannot be given up.

Eight verses on the 9th and 10th houses from Karkamsa. The 9th is the inner self’s sense of duty, so each planet there colours it. Jupiter and Sun make a man who lets his guru down out of certainty that he knows what must be done; Saturn and Rahu, in the previous verse, do it out of disbelief. Venus and Mars give affairs when the combination repeats in several vargas (the word “maranam” in the verse is taken as corrupt); Mercury and Moon give a sense of right and wrong that shifts with the wind; Jupiter alone gives sensual pursuit only when he is weak, and in D30, not in the Navamsa. Each has a good side when the planets are strong. On the 10th: a benefic gives stable wealth and dignity, a malefic gives loss in work (D10) and no happiness from the father (D12), Mercury and Venus give gainful work and great deeds, Sun and Moon with Jupiter give kingship. All of these show what the soul wants, not the concrete event.

The Karakamsa verses of BPHS Ch.33 from verse 61. A functional benefic on the 11th from Karakamsa gives happiness from siblings (read in D3) and profit in all works (D10); a malefic there still gives gains, fame and boldness, but by a bad path. A planet in the 12th from Karakamsa shows expenses — on good causes if benefic, on litigation, sickness or enemies if malefic — read in D2, with the planet's meaning taken from D20, D9 or D6. An own-sign or exalted benefic there sends the soul to a good loka; Ketu there with a benefic gives moksha, and in Aries or Sagittarius sāyujya, while Ketu alone or with a malefic does not. How to find the deity from D-20: take the 12th house from Ātmakāraka and see who owns it, who occupies it, who aspects it by more than about two-thirds, and who has argalā on it. The planet with several links dominates, and a link to Ketu, the kāraka of spirituality, tips the balance. In the job-seeker’s D-20 the 12th from Ātmakāraka Mars is empty; its lord Jupiter also has the biggest aspect on it, so the deity is Śiva, and Jupiter in Aries makes it a slightly aggressive form. In the teacher’s own D-20 Mercury is the 12th lord in the 12th from Ātmakāraka Moon — Viṣṇu — while Rahu, the 8th lord from Ātmakāraka, aspects that house and its lord almost exactly: Caṇḍī sādhana came to him in Mercury daśā, Rahu antardaśā. The planet-to-deity list as the teacher recalls it from Parāśara: Sun Śiva, Moon Pārvatī or Gaurī, Mars Subrahmaṇya, Mercury and Saturn Viṣṇu, Saturn in a malefic sign and Rahu the fierce deities such as Durgā and Kālī, Ketu Gaṇeśa or Subrahmaṇya, Jupiter Śiva, Venus Lakṣmī. From there one extrapolates by the sign the planet occupies and the influences on it; the ṛṣi gave no clear rule for that. The teacher then says what limits all of this: our knowledge is a small lamp, so the person’s own love for a deity goes before what the chart shows, though one may have to scratch the surface to find it. The class ends on Caṇḍī pāṭha as inner mastery and on sādhana, which no amount of reading replaces.

The BPHS verses on planets in the Kārakāṁśa and the 5th from it, as far as the damaged recording carries them. Mars alone gives a kunta, a spear; Saturn gives archery. Moon and Jupiter in the svāṁśa or the 5th make an author of books; Jupiter alone knows Veda and Vedānta but is no orator in an assembly. Saturn in the 1st or 5th from Kārakāṁśa makes a sabhā-jaḍa, one who freezes in an assembly, and Mercury there a mīmāṁsaka. The 2nd from Kārakāṁśa shows a speech defect, worse under a malefic aspect; the teacher calls Ketu the main planet for speech difficulty and asks in which chart the Kārakāṁśa should be taken — a question he leaves to be tested on charts.

BPHS Ch.34, verses 1–7: what a planet gives by the houses it owns. Kendra lords are neutral — a natural benefic owning a kendra does not give good, a natural malefic does not give bad. Trikona lords always give good, Rahu and Ketu included; lagna counts as a trikona. Lords of 3, 6, 11 are malefic because those are houses of active pursuit; lords of 2, 8, 12 go by their company and by the other house they own, with the 8th lord leaning inauspicious as the 12th from the 9th. The Sun and Moon carry no 8th-lord blemish: soul and mind are here for tapasya. The teacher explains this through the planets as personifications of inner qualities, and separates owning the 8th from sitting in it.

A Leo-lagna native with knee trouble in Saturn daśā. The 10th house is the knees: it is empty, aspected by the 12th lord Moon and the 6th lord Saturn, and its lord Venus sits in the 6th, his maraṇa kāraka sthāna, beside Saturn. D-30 decides the severity — Saturn, the bādhaka lord, in the 8th in Scorpio. The constitution is read from aspects on lagna (pitta-dominant, tridoṣic) and on Moon (kapha mind), and the knee condition comes out hot and dry: vāta with some pitta. The teacher gives Yogarāja guggulu, a fennel–licorice tea, an oil for the knees, a diet without heating spices, and Saturn mantras or Hanumān Cālīsā. A Leo-lagna native has severe knee trouble in Saturn mahādaśā. The 10th house is the knees: its lord Venus is in the 6th in maraṇa kāraka sthāna, and the 6th lord Saturn and 12th lord Moon aspect it. The teacher works out the doṣa (the knee is mostly vāta; the body is pitta-led and tridoṣic), then gives the measures — yogarāj guggulu, no heating spices, fennel and licorice, a medicated knee oil — and the propitiation of Saturn or Hanumān. A two-month-old girl with heavy skin rashes, Scorpio lagna, running Jupiter dasha. Jupiter is a benefic for Scorpio, so the affliction has to be found: in rasi he disposits Rahu in the 2nd and is aspected by Sun and Saturn, and in Trimshamsha, where suffering is seen, he is the 8th lord in the 12th house and the dispositor of the 6th lord and the badhaka lord. Moon antardasha will be worse than the running Sun antardasha. Mandi very close to the lagna shows toxins in the body and a lifelong sensitivity to chemicals; the lagna and its lord Mars make it a pitta condition, so coconut oil, not sesame. The propitiation is Narasimha, who removes poisons: his bija, and Lakshmi Narasimha in the baby's room. The class ends by taking the 7th house of the grandmother's Punya Chakra as lagna and comparing it with the child's chart; the key combinations do not repeat, so a rebirth is not indicated.

A 79-year-old man (Scorpio lagna, born 1931) hospitalised again and again in the middle of Mercury daśā. Rāśi: Mercury is the 8th lord of chronic disease placed in the 9th, the bādhaka sthāna — a link between the 6th or 8th lord and the bādhaka sthāna is bad for health. Triṁśāṁśa (Pisces lagna): Mercury is 7th lord and bādhaka lord, and the 8th house, Libra — kidneys and the urinary system — holds Mars with an exalted Saturn who is 11th and 12th lord: "at his favourite party", and the one who wants to trouble you. The antardaśās are read from D-30 and D-6: Mars gives no relief, Rāhu on the lagna brings surgery in March 2011 – September 2013, Jupiter some relief, and Saturn — 3rd lord in the 2nd, 7th and 8th lord from Mercury — is the māraka period of 2015–2018. In the Viṁśāṁśa (Libra lagna) the same Mercury is 9th and 12th lord, so the daśā that is hard on the body is the one for sādhana; the remedy is Viṣṇu Sahasranāma. The class closes by testing the birth time against his career in the D-10: exalted Sun for political office, Mars in the 6th for land.

The teacher tests divisional Char Dasha and divisional Vimshottari on dated events of his own life, with Surya Siddhanta positions. Marriage, 1 August 1993: D-9 Scorpio Char Dasha, the 7th house holding the 7th lord, in Saturn–Mars. State First and IIT in 1987: D-24 Pisces Char Dasha with exalted Venus and Jupiter transiting Pisces, in the dasha of lagna lord Mercury in the 5th. Swami Vivekananda (12 January 1863, 6:33 AM local mean time, Calcutta; Sagittarius lagna) read through three divisional charts, each with its own nakshatra dasha. D10: Jupiter (5th lord), Venus (10th lord) and Moon in Scorpio give Gajakesari and a raja yoga on the same sign as AL and A5; Ketu, stronger lord of Scorpio and placed in the 11th from AL, gave the Chicago fame of September 1893 in his Shodashottari dasha (1888–1903). D20: Moon dasha (1868–1884) brought Ramakrishna — Moon is 7th lord in the 9th and lord of A9, with exalted Jupiter on A9; Mercury, a functional malefic in the 8th from A9, took the tangible guru away in August 1886. The upasana deity is read from the atmakaraka Sun in D20: Rahu in a martial sign shows Durga or Kali. D9: Saturn and Mercury, 3rd and 8th lords, in the 7th deny marriage, and the Upapada with Ketu bears fruit as giving to disciples and an order. The class uses a calculation option that shifts several divisional placements from a standard ephemeris.

Two uses of D-20. First, the teacher's own practice with a praśna: in the D-20 of the praśna chart the 5th house shows the upāsana and the 9th house the divine help for the one issue asked about. For the child's praśna, 9th lord Moon is exalted in the 7th and aspects lagna, so Gauri or Chamunda — the same deity the natal chart gave. Second, the family deity from the 2nd house of the natal D-20: in the 1985 chart the known deity, Venkateswara, is used to choose between two D-20 lagnas, and Rahu in Aquarius aspecting the 2nd settles it. The page also gives the praśna reading, the remedies, and the teaching that Moon is the observer whose weakness is met by stimulating the mind.

A man born in 1970 asks in March 2012 whether his critically ill father will survive the year. The teacher moves the time back 30 seconds so that D-12 has Scorpio rising and reads the 9th house, Cancer, as the father’s lagna: Ketu in its 10th for a railway clerk, Saturn in it for drink. Saturn is that lagna’s 7th and 8th lord and aspects his own 7th house, a strong māraka; the saying that Saturn will not kill is wrong. D-12 Vimśottarī brings Mars–Saturn from August 2012 and Chaturaśīti Sama daśā (10th lord in the 10th) brings Sun–Saturn from May 2012. The 2012 annual chart is worse for the father than the 2013 one, and a praśna does not contradict, so the call is the second half of 2012. The class ends on what to tell someone near the end: no remedies, keep the mind on one Devatā.

The D-10 lagna of the example is moved from Capricorn to Sagittarius: Moon and Ketu in the 10th from Capricorn do not show a man who writes and manages application software, while Sagittarius puts the 10th lord Mercury in the lagna. The D-10 Vimshottari then fails — Saturn, a malefic 2nd and 3rd lord in the 9th, began in 2005 just as the career rose — so the teacher uses Dvisaptati Sama dasha, which applies because the 7th lord Mercury is in the D-10 lagna. Under it the 2005 gain falls in Mars–Rahu and Mars–Sun: Mars is the 5th lord in the 5th, in Aries, a prishthodaya sign, and gives his result at the end of his dasha. Moon dasha (1989–98) brought three changes of company; Mars and Mercury are the stable, good dashas. The native asks in 2012 whether his luck is over and whether to ease off: D-1 Saturn dasha in the 12th says the luck has peaked, but in D-10 Mercury–Rahu from June 2012 brings recognition, and a slowdown is only seen in Mercury–Moon, September 2014 to October 2015. D-24 (Taurus lagna): bachelor's in Venus–Mercury, master's and a management diploma in the Sun's dasha because A2 falls in Leo and Sun and Venus aspect the 2nd house; an MBA is advised against in Mars dasha. The five kośas and why breath sits between body and mind. Lagna controls the Annamaya Kośa (physical matter), Moon controls the Manomaya Kośa (mind), and the Prāṇamaya Kośa — the life force, of which breathing is the surface — is the connection between them. When prāṇa is depleted, breathing and the steadiness of the mind suffer together. The teacher then shows how to do anuloma-viloma prāṇāyāma: alternate nostrils, no holding, no sound, stop at 80–85% of a full breath, breathe out slowly, ten minutes a day — and explains the iḍā–piṅgalā push and pull that forceful breathing upsets.
