Example Chart — D7 Children: Jupiter (Children Karka) + Rahu Exact 16' Apart in GANDANTA = Most Dangerous Children Block + 5th Lord in 12H = Abortions Confirmed; Hope After 2018 Vargosa Dasha; D20: Venus LL in 4H = Spiritual Peace + Mercury 9L in 10H = Follow Religious Dharma

The same Virgo-lagna chart, for the two pregnancies lost in 2007 and 2009. The teacher points to the 5th lord and Jupiter in the 12th house, and to Rahu — the 6th lord, in gaṇḍānta at the very start of Leo — afflicting Jupiter from 8 degrees away (Jupiter 8°11', Rahu 0°27'). These placements are in the rāśi chart; in the D-7 as cast Jupiter is in the 7th house. He singles out the rāśi daśā of 2018-2027, whose 5th from Virgo is Capricorn with four planets in the 8th from it. In D-20 (Libra lagna), Mercury as 9th lord in the 10th house makes the running Mercury daśā a time to follow dharma and religion, and lagna lord Venus in the 4th gives peace and direction through the religious life. He also marks out the 12th house from the Ātmakāraka Rahu, counted backwards from Rahu's longitude; the recording breaks before any conclusion.

Key principle

With her spiritual life, religious life, she will be generally peaceful and happy and well-directed. So Venus is a strong planet there.

May 28, 1980 · 1:32 PM IST
Virgo lagna. Rāśi: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Rahu are all in Leo, the 12th sign — Saturn is the 5th lord, Jupiter is at 8°11', and Rahu at the very start of Leo is in gaṇḍānta, 8 degrees from Jupiter. Those four planets are the 8th from Capricorn, the 5th from lagna. D-20: Libra lagna; Venus (lagna lord) in Capricorn in the 4th; Mercury (9th lord) in Leo with the Moon (10th lord), in the 10th house by longitude; Saturn and Jupiter in Taurus in the 8th; Rahu, the Ātmakāraka, with Ketu in Sagittarius.

Case Study — The Miscarriages and the Coming Daśā

The same chart: Virgo lagna, married February 2005, pregnancies lost in 2007 and 2009.

What the Teacher Points To

  • The 5th lord is in the 12th house. (Saturn, lord of Capricorn, in Leo.)
  • Jupiter is in the 12th house.
  • Rahu is not in the 12th house by longitude — he is at 0°27' Leo, behind the lagna degree — but he is afflicting.
  • Rahu is in gaṇḍānta (the first half-degree of Leo, the Cancer-Leo junction), he is the 6th lord (co-lord of Aquarius), and he afflicts Jupiter.
  • Jupiter is at 8°11', Rahu at 0°27'. They are 8 degrees apart, and the teacher still counts it as an affliction.

These are the rāśi chart placements: Jupiter, Saturn and Rahu are all in Leo, the 12th sign from Virgo lagna. The recording is broken at this point and does not say which chart is on the screen. In the D-7 as cast, Jupiter is in the 7th house (Virgo) and Rahu in the 6th (Leo), so the statements do not describe the D-7.

A further remark — a lord "afflicting Venus very closely", so that "the second one also makes sense" — is too broken in the recording to reconstruct.

The Rāśi Daśā Ahead

  • Gemini's daśā is running now. Leo will run later.
  • The daśā from 2018 to 2027 is singled out. Take the 5th from Virgo: Capricorn. The 8th from Capricorn is Leo, very strong with four planets (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu).

"It will be a very interesting dasha after 2018."

  • The names of the daśā system and of this period are garbled in the recording. The teacher gives no verdict on children in the part that was recorded.

Case Study — D-20 and the Religious Life

D-20 lagna is Libra. Houses are again taken by divisional longitude.

Mercury — the Running Mahādaśā

  • Mercury is the 9th lord. By sign he is in the 11th (Leo), but by longitude he is in the 10th house.
  • He conjoins the 10th lord (Moon), but from very far.
  • 9th lord in the 10th: a good planet, a functional benefic in the Viṁśāṁśa.
  • She should be religious during this time. The 9th house here is not experience; it is following dharma and religion.

Venus — Lagna Lord

  • Venus is in a friendly sign (Capricorn) in a quadrant: the 4th house, close to the cusp.
  • The 4th house is direction, lack of confusion, peace. It is also part of being happy in general.

"With her spiritual life, religious life, she will be generally peaceful and happy and well-directed. So Venus is a strong planet there."

The 12th from the Ātmakāraka

  • The Ātmakāraka is Rahu, at 9° Sagittarius in D-20.
  • Houses from Rahu are counted backwards (anti-zodiacally) from his longitude. The teacher marks out the 12th house from him and looks for Venus in it.
  • Venus is at 26° Capricorn. He is not in the 12th from the Ātmakāraka; he falls in the next house, the 11th.
  • Aspects on the 12th: Jupiter is at 13° Taurus — he has an aspect but not a strong one. Mars is at 29° Virgo — he has a full aspect.
  • The recording breaks here. No deity is named in what was recorded.

The Afflictions

  • Saturn is in the 8th house (Taurus), with Jupiter.
  • Saturn's placement together with Rahu's aspect shows confusion, anxiety and tension. (The house the teacher names for Saturn at this point, and what Rahu aspects, are garbled.)
  • Some of the trouble was there even before Mercury daśā began.
  • Sagittarius rāśi daśā is running. Sagittarius holds Rahu and Ketu in D-20, so the affliction of Rahu and Ketu comes out in this period: confusion, misjudgment.
