Jupiter Dasha (April 2000 – April 2009) matches the presidency: Moon and Jupiter within 1.5° in Virgo give Gajakesari Yoga and a Raj Yoga of the lagna lord and 9th lord. Will Jayalalithaa's government fall? K.N. Rao predicted a fall in December 2004 or January 2005; the class reads her Tithi Praveśa charts for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and disagrees. Each year is judged from the hora lord, the lagna lord and the 5th house of power in the annual daśāṁśa. 2004 and 2005 hold. In 2006 the 5th lord is in the 6th, the lagna lord in the bādhakasthāna, Ketu on the rāśi lagna, and Moon — the masses, who decide power in a democracy — is in the 12th from lagna and the 8th from the 5th: an election after that birthday is likely lost. The class closes on the Swami's one flaw: Saturn and Rahu hemming his lagna, active in Saturn–Rahu antardasha, a lapse of judgment that let wrong people near him.

Human charts favour Moon because Moon is the kāraka of human beings — in the navāṁśa Moon must be in a trine or the 7th from Pranapada Lagna, as Ketu is for fish, Sun for birds and Venus for horses. Mundane charts carry no such bias: whichever is stronger is used. The navāṁśa of a nation shows its foreign relations: in Pakistan’s navāṁśa Jupiter is the 3rd and 6th lord in the 8th, a Viparita Raja Yoga that reversed its standing after September 11; the Ketu, Venus, Moon and Rahu antardaśās are then read one by one with bhoga, the bādhaka lord and the ārūḍhas A6 and UL. India’s Saturn daśā gives the results of Venus, the lagna lord; the close Saturn–Venus Raja Yoga, backed by A5, A9 and A11, is timed to 2006–2009, with A6 and A7 together in Saturn’s sign. For a country, read the annual Tithi Pravesha chart with Tithi Ashtottari daśā: Vimshottari assumes a 120-year life and no paramāyu is given for countries. A house (bhāva) is the intangible meaning; its ārūḍha (pada) is the tangible event. A8, the Mrityupada, shows deaths that make the news — or a sudden gain, so it cannot be read alone. The 3rd from Arudha Lagna shows how death comes: the sign gives the place, the planets on it the manner. In India's 2005 annual chart Libra holds A8, is the 3rd from AL and holds the Apamrityu Sahama, and its lord Venus was running his daśā during the floods and blasts; the Rudramsa (D-11) and Trimsamsa (D-30) confirm it.

Gandhi: Arudha Lagna in Cancer with Moon in own sign and Rahu — the compassionate saint dominates, with a scandalous image in some circles. Jupiter in Aries in the 10th from AL is a peaceful war. Planets in trine promote each other, in quadrants they must work together, in 6th/8th they obstruct; trines from any house are its blessings. That gives the four trikonas — Dharma (1-5-9), Artha (2-6-10), Kama (3-7-11: initiative, pursuit, fulfilment) and Moksha (4-8-12: comfort, tapas, detachment). The US Lunar New Year charts of 1900 (Galveston hurricane) and 2005 (Hurricane Katrina), cast for Washington DC, share Leo rising, lagna lord Sun and Moon in a watery 8th house, A4 in the 12th, and Moon as Hora Lord. Moon in the 8th is in Marana Karaka Sthana; a watery planet helpless in a watery sign points to destruction by water. The Rudramsha (D-11) of both years puts the marakas in watery signs. The teacher argues that the ruler of the year is the hora lord at the exact New Year moment, and that taking the next sunrise's weekday lord is a later corruption made for the civil celebration. Each New Year has its own matter: the Pisces new moon shows the general mood of the people, the Libra new moon (Kartika Shukla Pratipada) the finances, the Gemini one the weather, the Cancer one rains and crops. The national chart does not give the place of a disaster; a town's own incorporation chart does.

Marana Karaka Sthana is the one house where a planet is helpless: Sun in the 12th, Moon in the 8th, Mars and Mercury in the 7th, Jupiter in the 3rd, Venus in the 6th, Saturn in the 1st, Rahu in the 9th. Ketu has none, because he only wants to give moksha. Mercury, unlike other benefics, is happy in the 6th and 8th, as he is in the 3rd and 4th. The 2nd and 7th are the maraka sthanas because they are the 12th from the 3rd (vitality) and the 8th (longevity); accidents are seen from the 6th and 8th. In the hora chart of the 1930 Financial New Year (Sun–Moon conjunction in Libra, Washington DC), four of the eight planets are in Marana Karaka Sthana and Sun and Moon sit in the 8th eclipsed by Ketu: a terrible year. For mundane dashas, compress to the year, use a conditional dasha when its condition applies, and choose the Vimshottari variant by the planets in kendras.

Read the natal base before any annual chart: the Tithi Pravesha is a ripple on it. Bush (Cancer lagna, 7th lord Saturn in lagna) runs Dwisaptati Sama dasha, and Jupiter dasha (April 2000 – April 2009) carries a raja yoga with Gajakesari in the rasi chart and Jaya yoga in the dasamsa. Rahu loves Cancer, Leo and Virgo — Cancer most — because he is bhoga and wants to eclipse Moon, the mind; Ketu is moksha and wants to eclipse Sun, the atma. Israel 2006: vargottama Cancer lagna with Saturn (Simhasana Yoga, but he is the 8th lord in Maraṇa Kāraka Sthāna); the 10th and 3rd houses taken as lagna favour the ruling party in Mars daśā. Iraq 2005: lagna six minutes from the Scorpio–Sagittarius gandanta. Iran 2005: Jupiter and Ketu in the 10th give a religious conservative government, and an empty 6th house ruled by exalted Venus denies war. For a tangible war A6, the 6th house and Mars must come together; the 2007 charts of Israel, Iran and the USA show that most strongly.

The Finance New Year chart is cast for the Sun-Moon conjunction in Libra that begins Kartika Shukla Pratipada, the amavasya of Deepavali. The USA chart of November 2005 is read daśā by daśā from Rāśi and Hora: Jupiter daśā gave the year-end rally, Saturn daśā is reasonable, the Ketu period at the end of April and start of May is the one to watch, and the year as a whole is good. The teacher then shows his market method: run Tribhagi Vimshottari from Moon or lagna, whichever is stronger, find the running star, read the transits on it in the Sarvatobhadra Chakra, judge those planets in the New Year chart, and check for Latta. D2 Financial Analysis, Speculation Indicators & Karthika Shukla Pratipada Financial New Year Chart

The Hora chart of a stock-market investor. A risk-taker is seen when Mars, karaka of risk, or the 8th house has a role with lagna or lagna lord: here the 8th lord and Mars are in lagna and the lagna lord is in Scorpio. Whether he gains is read from A8 (the tangible gamble) and A11 (the tangible gain) — the yogakaraka Saturn has argala on both. Moon, lord of A11 in the 12th and 12th lord from the dasha lord, marks a window of loss, and the Narayana Dasha of the Hora chart is split into three parts. Mrityubhaga (Death-Inflicting Degree) — Definition, Controversy, D30 Root & Mundane New Year Charts: Hora Lord vs Vara Lord

Mrityubhaga: in each sign one degree is fatal for a given planet. The nth degree means (n−1)° to n°; K.S. Charak takes it as the point n° with half a degree either side, which the teacher rejects because bhāga means a portion and the degrees are rooted in Trimsamsa (D-30). A planet in Mrityubhaga with a link to the 8th house, the 8th lord or A8 gives a bad daśā in a Tithi Pravesha year, and huge suffering or death-like situations in the natal chart. In mundane work the teacher rejects the traditional planetary cabinet, which takes the weekday lord of the sunrise after the New Year; he takes the Hora lord at the exact moment, cast for the capital, so different countries have different kings. The 2007 Lunar New Year charts of Iran, Iraq and the US are read this way, and each further chart (Sun–Moon in Libra for finance, Sun entering Ardra for rain) has its own ruler and its own year. The class ends with country charts (no Vimshottari for a country) and with when to use the annual chart and when the natal chart.

Mundane Astrology Framework: Lunar New Year Chart (Pratipada at Capital), Amavasya Yoga Afflicts Whichever House, Gandanta Lagna = National Instability, 10H vs 3H for Elections & War via 6th House

The chart for a country’s year is the Lunar New Year chart: the moment of Chaitra Śukla Pratipada, cast for the capital. The Hora lord at that moment rules the year. Amavasya yoga is in every such chart and its cancellations do not apply, so the reading turns on which house and which lords it falls on. The page gives the houses the teacher uses (3rd opposition, 6th war, 10th government, 5th judgment and pūrva puṇya), his rules for war, elections and a Gandanta lagna, and which varga answers which question: Navāṁśa for relations with other countries, Daśāṁśa for politics, Triṁśāṁśa for the evils plaguing the country, Hora for finances.

The 2009 Lunar New Year chart for Washington DC has Gemini 14°55′ rising with Moon as ruler of the year. Mercury, Sun, Moon and Venus are closely conjunct in the 10th: a Raja yoga of the lagna lord and the 5th lord, spoiled by the Amavasya yoga, so the executive branch has problems. The 10th lord Jupiter, debilitated in the 8th with Rahu and in Purīṣaka ṣaṣṭyāṁśa, is the worst planet; his daśā from Dec 21 and the Sun–Moon daśā of Aug 21 – Oct 8 are the bad periods. In the Navāṁśa the 6th lord Moon is afflicted, so no major war. The Hora chart, with its 4th and 5th houses beaten down, shows no comfort about the economy, and Mars taken as lagna shows a poor year for the mechanical and auto industry.

The same Lunar New Year moment cast for four more capitals. Iran (Virgo 29°11′): the Amavasya yoga afflicts the 7th, but the Navāṁśa has exalted Mercury in lagna, so some reconciliation is possible; the opposition is placed slightly better than the government in rāśi and Daśāṁśa, so a change of leadership is possible. Iraq (Virgo 23°): a weak government in the Daśāṁśa, better relations and investment in the Navāṁśa, misadventures in the Triṁśāṁśa. North Korea (Scorpio 29°31′, deep Gandanta): marakas with the 9th and 10th lords in the 5th, Jupiter beaten down, the worst Navāṁśa of the five — a year of fatal misjudgments. India (Libra 22°44′): neither the 10th nor the 3rd is good in the rāśi, the 3rd wins in the Daśāṁśa — a messy election, probably a hung parliament, with coalitions restructured.

The chart for the start of the July 22, 2009 solar eclipse at New Delhi, cast in class before the event. Cancer rises with Sun, Moon and Ketu within 2° of each other and of the lagna degree. The Sun is 2nd lord in lagna in his mṛtyubhāga, Saturn (7th and 8th lord) is in the 2nd and Rahu (the other 8th lord) in the 7th, so both 8th lords are in māraka sthānas; 9th lord Jupiter in the 8th is the one blessing. The teacher reads loss of life and a bad political event for India, rejects the doomsday talk, and puts the lunar–solar–lunar sequence in proportion against the Mahabharata war and the sinking of Dwarka. He then gives the two readings of Rahu–Ketu on Sun–Moon: obstruction for dharma in duality, the solution for non-duality. Rituals done as dharma stop at eclipse time; meditation done for mokṣa is said to be 1000 times more powerful.

A student asks whether mundane charts can be read. The teacher has tried solar, lunar, monthly, fortnightly and daily charts over 20–25 major events and found nothing consistent; he suspects the year definition itself, because at the start of Kali Yuga the Sun was near 2° Aries and not conjunct the Moon. The Lunar New Year chart for Tokyo is read as a test for the March 2011 earthquake: a malefic Jupiter in lagna and an afflicted Mercury in the triṁśāṁśa can be "explained", but nothing shows the scale, the tsunami or the nuclear leak. Independence charts and praśna (rāśi, D-3, D-9) remain usable. The page then reads a cardiologist's daśāṁśa: lagna lord Mars and 5th lord Sun in the 6th give a rāja yoga in the house of service and show a surgeon, with the 6th-versus-7th (service versus business) rationale, and why the speciality cannot be read.
