Cancer in the Ṣaṣṭhāṁśa (D-6) and the Prognosis

All houses in this part are counted in the ṣaṣṭhāṁśa unless the rāśi chart is named. D-6 lagna: Aries 16°. Rāhu and Ketu in Aries (Ketu at 24°), Mars in Virgo (6th), Mercury and Jupiter in Pisces (12th), Saturn in Leo (5th), Sun in Gemini (3rd), Venus in Sagittarius (9th).

Why 2009

• Vimśottarī Mars daśā began in 2007. In the rāśi chart Mars is the māraka in bādhakasthāna.
• The problem came to the fore in Mars–Jupiter.
• Jupiter is in the 12th with Mercury, and (the teacher says) gives Mercury's results. Mercury is the 6th lord in the 12th house.
• Mars, the 8th lord, aspects them from the 6th (graha dṛṣṭi).

"Don't look at it as: 6th house will give disease, 12th house will give hospitalization. Their togetherness will give some disease and hospitalization because of it."

• So the 6th, 8th and 12th lords are all on the 6th–12th axis.
• Taking Mars as lagna: Jupiter is the bādhaka lord in bādhakasthāna (Pisces, the 7th from Virgo).

What gives cancer

• Cancer is growth out of control. Jupiter is the planet of growth, so a badly placed Jupiter, one taking part in bad combinations, can show it.
• What the teacher has seen in the cancer charts he has studied: Rāhu and Ketu influence the lagna, the 6th house or the 8th house in the ṣaṣṭhāṁśa. Not merely sitting there — they are bad planets for the chart and they afflict it.
• Here Rāhu is the bādhaka lord (co-lord of Aquarius, the 11th) and Ketu is the 8th lord (co-lord of Scorpio), and both are in the lagna.

"Rāhu and Ketu are the planets of suffering. Fever is one kind of suffering, cold is one kind of suffering, but cancer is a serious suffering. That kind of serious disease usually occurs if Rāhu and Ketu are giving the problem."

• Moreover Jupiter is part of the 6th-lord, 8th-lord, 12th-lord combination on the 6th–12th axis.

The antardaśās ahead in Mars daśā (Vimśottarī)

"8th lord in lagna is actually terrible. If you ask me, he is the worst of all of them."

"If at all some relief is there, it is in Venus antardaśā, which is in 2012. Unfortunately, I don't see any hope until then."

Śatābdika daśā now

• Saturn daśā, Saturn antardaśā. Saturn is the 11th lord, the bādhaka lord, in Leo — the 5th house, of digestion. From there he aspects the bādhakasthāna, Aquarius (graha dṛṣṭi). Relief is unlikely.
• Sun antardaśā, from April 2012: taking Saturn as lagna, the Sun is the lagna lord in the 11th — gains, a gain of health. From lagna he is the 5th lord, the pūrva-puṇya lord, in the 3rd, with nothing to do with the 6th or 8th. He can give relief.

Outlook

• Vimśottarī points to February 2012, Śatābdika to April 2012: some hope is seen in the spring of 2012.
• But the Vimśottarī daśā running is a māraka's daśā, so things can also get out of hand.

"Bottom line is the next few years are critical."

• The teacher's closing word: "My outlook is negative. I think time is not really that good for him."

Gemstones and Remedy for This Chart

Why was cat's eye prescribed at all?

The teacher tries to reconstruct someone's reasoning and finds none that holds:

• Perhaps: Ketu is the 2nd lord (co-lord of Scorpio) in the 9th house in the rāśi chart, so "lord of wealth in the house of fortune".
• By tārā: the birth star belongs to Saturn. Saturn, Mercury, Ketu — Ketu is the Vipat tārā lord. People do not prescribe the Vipat tārā lord's stone.
• By houses: Ketu is a māraka lord.

"If you go by tārā, he is Vipat tārā lord. If you go by houses, he is māraka lord."

The rule — a running daśā is not a reason to wear the stone

"Just because the daśā of a planet is running, you don't wear the gemstone of the planet. That is a bad idea. Wearing the gemstone means you are giving him control over you. If he is a good guy, he will do good to you. If he is a bad guy, he will ruin you."

• The analogy: wearing a gemstone is like bringing somebody into your house and making him stay there and take care of it. If he hates you and wants to ruin your house, you have made it easier for him.
• If his daśā is running he already has more control over you. Putting him on your body increases it. "It is a terrible idea."
• If the daśā of a bad planet is running, propitiate. Do not wear the gemstone.

Stone by stone

"Those two stones do not help him at all. There is no point in wearing them."

On diamond: "Is there a need to wear any stone? Not really. If he wants to wear, let him wear diamond." No other stone is recommended.

Remedy

• Mars daśā is running in Vimśottarī, so propitiate Mars. Mars is also the lagna lord in the ṣaṣṭhāṁśa.
• Mars is propitiated through Hanumān. Saturn (the Śatābdika daśā lord) is propitiated through Hanumān as well.
• Chant the Hanumān Cālīsā, or any Hanumān stotra or mantra.

"Propitiate Hanumān, that will be my advice. Hanumān can save you."

A student's question — another astrologer's daśā dates differ

A student points out that another calculation puts the Mars and Ketu periods about two years off from these. The teacher: that is possible. Some people compute planets by the formulas of the old Vākya siddhāntas instead of Dṛk (observation), and use an ayanāṁśa 3 or 4 degrees away from Lahiri — neither Raman nor Lahiri.
