Boston Child (Pisces Lagna, Dec 2009): Amavasya=Saint OR Goon (Thumb Rule Only, NOT Chart-Specific); Gandanta=Physical Problems NOT Evil; Actual Chart=5L-9L Parivartana+Neecha Bhanga=Spiritual Dharma; 3rd from AL Only Jupiter=Saintly Gentle Person; D10 Mercury Exalted(6H Harsha Yoga)=Precision Business; Chamunda Remedy; Going Abroad Possible

The parents of a two-year-old were told he will grow up a rowdy and live away from them. The teacher shows the prediction rests on one thumb rule — Amavasya birth, "saint or goon" — plus Mars and Ketu in the 5th. The Rasi has the lagna lord Jupiter in the 12th in Aquarius, the 5th and 9th lords Moon and Mars exchanging houses with neecha bhanga, and only Jupiter in the 3rd and 6th from Arudha Lagna: a gentle, saintly person. The Dasamsa (Sagittarius lagna, 10th lord Mercury in his own sign in the 7th, strong kama trikonas) shows a businessman who also does spiritual work, and the Vimsamsa is decent. Remedies are the Amavasya and Sankranti (gandanta Sun) dosha shantis and, later, Chandi Path; the page ends with his relationship with his parents and the chance of settling abroad.

Key principle

I am not really concerned about him ending up as a rowdy element in the society. I don't really think it is an accurate assessment. It is simply based on a thumb rule that people born on Amavasya will become outcasts in the society. Again, gandanta planets don't show evil people; it only shows some physical problem.

Example Chart

Example chart — boy born on Amavasya (2009)
Dec 15, 2009 · 12:08 PM EST (5 h west of GMT) · 71°04'W, 42°21'N
Rasi: Pisces lagna, Amavasya, Sun at the very end of Scorpio (gandanta). Moon (5th lord) is debilitated in Scorpio in the 9th and Mars (9th lord) debilitated in Cancer in the 5th — the parivartana. Sun and Venus, the 6th and 8th lords, are with Moon. In class Jupiter is in Aquarius (12th) and Ketu is with Mars in Cancer; the site's Drik cast has Jupiter at 29°18' Capricorn and Ketu at 28°31' Gemini, each just short of that sign. The class lagna is 5°06' Pisces, giving a Sagittarius Dasamsa; the site's lagna is 6°47', which makes the Dasamsa lagna Capricorn. In the Chaturthamsa Mars is in Aries, Ketu in Pisces aspected by Rahu, and Saturn and Mercury are opposite each other.

A Boy Born on Amavasya — "Will He Become a Rowdy?"

The Concern

  • Somebody — an astrologer or a psychic — told the parents that the boy will grow up rough, a rowdy or an underworld element, and that he will be away from his parents.
  • The boy is two or three years old. The parents want to know his mentality and his profession.

Why the Prediction Was Made

  • The boy is born on Amavasya. The saying: people born on Amavasya become either great saints or big goons.
  • In the 5th house of purva punya there are Mars and Ketu.
  • The teacher: nobody looked at all the combinations. They saw the Amavasya yoga and Mars–Ketu in the 5th, and mostly it was the Amavasya.
  • With Pisces lagna a goon is very unlikely. One would expect Saturn or Mars influence on the lagna for that.

"That's one weakness of the chart, but it doesn't really show an evil person. I know some saints born on Amavasya also."

Rasi Chart

  • Lagna lord Jupiter in the 12th, Aquarius. Not a friendly sign, but a philosophical sign and a fruitful one for Jupiter. The 12th is not a bad house for the lagna lord: it is good for one who gives, who contemplates, who compromises.
  • 9th lords Mars and Ketu in the 5th. Mars is debilitated in Cancer but has neecha bhanga. The lord of dharma in the house of purva punya is a good placement.
  • 5th lord Moon in the 9th, debilitated in Scorpio, also with neecha bhanga.
  • Parivartana between the 5th and 9th lords. Auspicious for purva punya and dharma. A raja yoga, though made by two debilitated planets.
  • Lagna lord Jupiter and the 6th lord are in mutual kendras — a yoga that makes him well known. (The yoga's name is garbled in the recording. The recording says "6th lord Moon"; the 6th lord of Pisces is Sun, who is with Moon in Scorpio.)
  • Arudha lagna: the 3rd and 6th from AL hold only Jupiter.

"So basically it shows a saintly kind of person, a very gentle kind of person, a gentle disposition. I don't really see a mafia person."

Site cast: Jupiter is at 29°18' Capricorn (11th house) and Ketu at 28°31' Gemini (4th house) — each just short of the sign the class has them in.

The Weakness in the Parivartana

  • Both planets of the exchange are debilitated.
  • Sun and Venus, the 6th and 8th lords, are with Moon. Two malefic lords and the nodes are tied into the parivartana.
  • Nodes show a drastic transformation in life, or going to a faraway land and culture.
  • The raja yoga will manifest under some distress or duress.

Dasamsa — Work

  • Lagna Sagittarius. Lagna lord Jupiter in the 3rd house: not that strong.
  • 10th lord Mercury in the 7th house in his own sign Gemini. The 10th lord is strong. Jupiter aspects him (5th aspect).
  • 7th lord in the 7th, lagna lord in the 3rd, 11th lord Venus exalted: the kama trikonas are strong.

"So this may be a business person. Business is good for this person rather than working for somebody else."

  • Rahu in the 10th can show underhand activity. But he is in Virgo, an auspicious sign for him (some take it as his moolatrikona), and in the dasamsa of Ananta, which is conducive to spiritual pursuit.
  • Reading: a trader, a businessman who also does some mystical or spiritual work.

Site cast: the lagna comes to 6°47' Pisces, which moves the Dasamsa lagna to Capricorn. The class reading is for Sagittarius.

Vimsamsa — Spirituality

  • The lagna may not be exact, but taking it as given the chart is not weak.
  • The 5th lord Jupiter is in his moolatrikona and aspects the lagna lord. A decent chart.

"Looking at Rasi, Dasamsa and Vimsamsa, this is a chart of somebody who is reasonably spiritual and an honorable person."

  • The rowdy prediction is not an accurate assessment. It rests on one thumb rule about Amavasya. The parents need not worry.

Remedies

  • Amavasya dosha shanti: the homa Parasara prescribes — idols of Sun and Moon, and a homa with the mantras he gives.
  • Sun is in gandanta (the teacher noticed this later). Gandanta planets do not show evil people. They show a physical problem — bone trouble or accidents when the Sun's period comes. Do the Sankranti dosha shanti as well. Two separate pujas.
  • Devata: to make the raja yoga come smoothly, worship the deity shown by debilitated Moon and debilitated Mars in exchange between Scorpio and Cancer — Chamunda or Chandi, a warrior goddess.
    • The parents learn the Chandi Saptashloki first, teach it to the boy when he is old enough, and later teach him Chandi Path.

"If this kid can do Chandi Path on a regular basis, this kid will be really unstoppable."

Parents and Going Abroad

  • The question is not whether he leaves the house. It is whether he will be close to his parents.
  • Dwadasamsa: the lagna is on the border of Aries and Taurus, so the teacher leaves the D-12 undecided. With Taurus the 9th lord is strong and the lagna lord is in the 4th; with Aries the lagna lord is in the lagna. Either way a normal relationship.
  • Rasi also looks decent: the 9th lord is in the 5th and the 5th lord in the 9th.
  • Settling abroad is a possibility:
    • Lagna lord Jupiter in the 12th.
    • 9th lord Mars in a watery sign, aspected by Rahu. Rahu is the karaka and also the 12th lord (co-lord of Aquarius).
    • Chaturthamsa: 9th lord Mars is strong; the other 9th lord Ketu is in a watery sign aspected by Rahu (rāśi dṛṣṭi, Virgo on Pisces). Rahu is in the 12th counted from the lagna lord. 12th lord Saturn and badhaka lord Mercury are in sama-saptaka.
  • He may settle in a far country, and still be good with his parents.
